It's time for the Valley's exclusive FM Sports Voice. The Boomo Bugg Show. New exclusive inside track to the Tigers, Tennessee and the rest of the SEC. Now your host, Harold Bugg on 93.9 The Score. Good afternoon and welcome here to the Boomo Bugg Show. I'm Harold Bugg alongside Brett Beaird. Thank you so much for giving us free ride around the Tennessee Valley. Brett Beaird, welcome here to the good, the bad, the ugly Monday after Alabama reels in an in-stater on the recruiting trail. Good afternoon, welcome in and how are you? Happy Reaction Monday to you and the listeners. Alabama got a three-star offensive lineman from Oxford. We're trying to talk about him a little bit later. William Redfish Barger joins us at about 1.35 to talk about crappie fishing and his thoughts on Bama's homecoming win over Texas A&M. Former Auburn quarterback Charlie Trotman gives us his thoughts on LSU's dominant win over the Auburn Tigers. Adam is here right now to recap another wild Saturday in the SEC. Adam is Adam Spencer. He's, we mean this, busy. It's Saturday down south. Adam, welcome in to a crazy 26 late updates. How are you? I'm doing great, guys. How are you? Hey, Billy. Hey, we're doing all right. Where do you start in breaking it down? First of all, you know our zip code here, but isn't it amazing what's this? The third straight Monday that we've had a little huddle here and we've had three, I guess four if you go back, number one teams over that stretch of time. It just tells you maybe the P word's coming into play. It's called parity across college football. Yeah, I think that is what we're seeing. I think that we're seeing that, you know, some of these teams aren't as good as some of their most dominant wins look. You know, we've seen that Ole Miss, you know, probably isn't as good as it was in the wins over, you know, Mizzou and LSU. But, you know, they're probably not as bad as they were in losses to Texas and Florida. It's just, you know, winning on the road is really, really difficult. And, you know, that's what makes, you know, Tennessee loss on the road. I mean, that's what makes what LSU and Kentucky did this weekend really stand out because it's really tough to go on the road and win an SEC play. Adam, can we charge you to come up with a tiebreaker if things continue the way they are in the SEC? Can you believe those records so far? Who's smart enough to figure out the tiebreakers? Yeah, I mean, I don't know. I think that, you know, I still think that Georgia is going to make sure that it's not complete chaos. You know, I still expect them to get through the regular season with, you know, two or fewer losses. So we'll see there. But the second spot in Atlanta for what looks like it might be the last ever SEC championship game is going to be hotly contested. That's for sure because, you know, I couldn't tell you right now. I mean, Kentucky's got the inside track, but they have a brutal stretch down the stretch here. They have Tennessee, Mizzou, Florida, Louisville coming up. So, you know, based on what we've seen, they could lose any of those games, but they could win any of them, too. So your guess is as good as mine for that second spot in Atlanta this year. Adam, we talked last week about this was a must-win for Texas. Arch comes out, looks really good. They jump out 24-3 and looked like they were going to run Ole Miss out of the stadium. But to the Rebels' credit, they come back and actually tie the game. And then Texas finds a running game. Brown starts running wild in the fourth quarter. And, again, Ole Miss comes back. And they get close. Chambliss, 25-52, 250. But this was a must-win that Texas had to have, and they did it. Yeah, you know, and I don't know what they're doing at halftime because, you know, the past few weeks, you know, when they lost to Florida, they came out strong in the first half and looked like a really good team. But then just completely fell apart in the second half and down the stretch. So, I mean, they kind of almost did that again. So I don't know if it's just a case of, you know, they're getting outcoached and making in-game adjustments or what. But, you know, that's a concerning trend for Texas. But, yeah, they had to have this one, and they stayed alive. And, you know, that's going to be what they have to do on a week-in, week-out basis now for the next five weeks. So, you know, they passed the first test, but now there's five more remaining. Absolutely. LSU 38, Auburn 17, and that was not even as dominant. Auburn played so well against Georgia, but this is a week-to-week now. Sam Levitt, 32-45 for 387 and three touchdowns. Jordan Ross, the edge rusher for LSU, had two-and-a-half tackles for a loss, two sacks. Auburn could not run the ball. Byron Brown, he played so well against Georgia, finished with 21 yards on 19 carries. Auburn could not run the ball. And really a dominant win for the LSU Tigers. Yeah, I mean, you know, this hamstring injury that Sam Levitt has, you know, might have actually helped him develop as a quarterback. Because he's been wiped out throwing the ball since he pulled that hamstring. You know, he's still moving a little bit. You know, he was able to run, make a couple of runs in that game and move the chains and, you know, show some toughness there. But he's clearly not at full speed with his running game. And it's just forced him to stay in the pocket a little bit more and rely on his arm and the results speak for themselves. I mean, getting Trey Des Green back this week, also, he had a touchdown catch. He's just a cheat code. So, that helps. But, yeah, I think that he's figuring out how to be a better overall quarterback rather than just an athlete back there. And let's face it, we talked about must-win-wins. I mean, look at Alabama. They were in the same boat as Texas. They lost that game. Of all people to A&M, that would have also been three losses in a row in the heart of the season. Can you imagine the Bama Nation here on the Monday after with that one? Especially now going to LSU. Just breaking news, LSU still must be in the doghouse of the league office. It's not a night game. It's 2.30 in the afternoon. You know they are, take the word P and spell it out there off about that one. But LSU comes in the three-and-a-half-point favorite. You know what's amazing about this, Adam? This will be the final annual game. A lot of us have forgotten this. Between these two, they're not permanent opponents. Next season will be the first time since 1963, before DeBoer and Kiffin were even born, that they won't face each other. Your thoughts about Alabama's win over A&M and going on the road, the dog, to the Tigers. Yeah, I mean, based on the way that LSU looked, I mean, that's a really tough task because, I mean, Alabama didn't really overwhelm me either. They've got to get healthy this week during the week off. And they have the open date on Halloween so they can properly celebrate the legendary Nick Saban. You know, so that's always fun. But yeah, so they've got to get healthy. They need Ryan Coleman back. You know, to these other guys that are banged up, getting them healthy. The problem is that LSU is also on a bye this week and they're doing the same thing. And, you know, they might get weeks back. And, yeah, but, you know, a win is better than a loss for Alabama this week. But, yeah, I was not necessarily blown away by what I saw from the time. So we'll see if they can get better when they get healthy. Adam, could we have won a bar bet if we had to tell somebody by Halloween Kentucky would be leading the SEC? They beat Vandy 35-17. Kentucky runs for nearly 200 yards. They just keep on – turnovers, they're really good. They were number four last week leading into Saturday. They don't do a lot of things really well, but the sum is certainly greater than the parts. Once again, Kentucky now at 7-1 on the season. Yeah, if you had told me that Kentucky would have seven wins by Halloween, I would have assumed you meant Halloween 2020. Yes, yes. So that's just a huge credit to Will Stein there. You're right. The sum is better than the parts. And, you know, that's ultimately the goal of coaching. So, you know, that speaks to what he's done, you know, because there's a lot of teams out there, you know, looking at the guys in Austin where there's a lot of individuals. Sorry, my cat just knocked me over. We can understand. But, yeah, the sum is better than the parts. Texas has some issues with, you know, individual talent not necessarily leading to team talent. And Kentucky is the opposite. That's a credit to Will Stein, seven wins and counting. They have that brutal stretch coming up down those last four games. But, I mean, if anybody can navigate it, it's him and this year's Kentucky Wildcats. Bad news for Tennessee two weeks ago, they had to pay Alabama a half million dollars because fans stormed the field. Good news for Tennessee, they got the half million back this weekend because South Carolina stormed the field on Tennessee. Has Shane Beamer taken out an insurance policy? And is he buying stock in Columbia next season? Yeah, I mean, we'll see there because when this team is looking like it's giving up on him, like that's when he does his best coaching, when Lenora Sellers kind of figures out how to play quarterback again. You know, it'd be nice if they could just start every season, assuming that they had three losses. Maybe you just tell them next year, hey, guys, we're 0-3 going into week one here. Our backs are against the wall. Everybody's calling for me to get fired. And then maybe they'll actually, you know, look prepared at the start of a season. So, you know, I don't know what's going on there, but they're a tough team to play. It's always tough to go into Willie B. That place is one of the loudest stadiums in the SEC. So, you know, I think we saw some of Tennessee's in experience. They made some costly turnovers. You know, there was a couple of iffy flags, but for those blaming the refs for the loss, I don't think that's what it was. You just can't have some of the mental mistakes that Tennessee had, especially on the road. And there really is something to these hangover games. We saw it with BYU beating Notre Dame late Saturday night. They travel across the country and get beaten two overtimes by Central Florida. And then Tennessee beats Alabama, goes on the road. Loses to South Carolina again. That's seven out of the last nine. Georgia could even say that, too, beating Alabama, then losing to Auburn. And, oh, by the way, John Matera had a good game. He actually went 22 of 29 for 283. Mississippi State, Bothwell came back, ran for 111 yards. But Camario Taylor had a very brief appearance, and the dogs are still really roughing it offensively. But John Matera's Oklahoma beats Mississippi State 21-15. Yeah, I mean, I think you're onto something with these hangover games. And I just don't know what the solution is. It just might be the way that these young, you know, college guys are these days. You know, they get too full of themselves and need to be knocked down a peg. Maybe there's no amount of coaching that can stop it. You know, I don't know. I don't know why teams can't put momentum together in a meaningful way. I mean, I do think that it's just really hard to win on the road. I think that that's, you know, when you don't have the continuity, you know, when there's a lot of people transferring in and out every year, you don't necessarily know what the guy next to you is going to do. You know, some of these veteran teams that manage to get some continuity, like those are the teams that can go on the road and win because they, you know, don't, they have the communication skills to get through the loud environment. And some of these teams that have plug and play guys just are, it just seems like they're, you know, intimidated and get a little antsy in front of loud crowds. So I don't know. I don't know what the issue is, but yeah, there's a lot of these games. And I'm sure there'll be a lot more hangover games down the stretch here. No question about it. Florida, Georgia, the headliner this week in Atlanta instead of Jacksonville, open at Ole Miss, South Carolina, Oklahoma. It's going to be an interesting game. Simply put, do you think the Cowboys bounce back after two straight stinkers in prime time? Despite all the injuries on offense, Eagles defense has played well in three straight games. Well, no need to tell you, if you were one of the ones who were dressed to the nines on homecoming night at UNA over the weekend, perfect setting. You had a top-ranked team coming in there amongst the top-ranked teams in the country. Everything was lining up great, says Matt St. Charles. He follows UNA there with E-Times Daily. Matt, welcome in. Happy Monday after. How are you? Hey, guys. I'm good. How's it going? Good. Man, everything again, it looked like UNA had this thing in the bag, and then when you get into it, sometimes these teams who come in with a number in front of their name, in other words, their rank, they have a way of finding a way to pull out the W and break a lot of hearts. Where do you start in breaking down the homecoming date with the boys from Austin Peay? I mean, against a top-ten team, they're certainly going to find a way to win when you also make critical mistakes that give them even more advantages they have over you already. So, you know, it's become clear that UNA belongs on the field with teams like this, but, you know, when you have as many penalties as they did, when you throw an interception inside your own 10-yard line on the first pass of the game. And, you know, last week, the thing with Evelyn and Christian kind of was they got the ball last, and they executed perfectly and kicked a field goal to win. I mean, this week, UNA had a chance to drive down there at the end of the game and take the lead, and, you know, X-Johnson fumbled, obviously, a great play from the Austin Peay kid. But just little mistakes like that that, you know, you can't make, and you have to capitalize when you get mistakes out of Austin Peay. Like, Fred Vealy got hit in the hands with a football and was unable to catch it and take it the other way. So, just an inability to limit their own mistakes and then capitalize on the ones Austin Peay made. Man, I was looking at your story. If you'd have told me UNA outgained the Govs by 61 yards, had three more first downs, won the time of possession for three minutes. Both teams were 7 of 16 on third down and 3.4 yards per carry. I'd have told you there was a good chance UNA would have won the game, but you just mentioned it. The very early interception, the very late catch and fumble, and then not being able to bring in the interception, again, it's the same thing we've talked about. It's just the little things that are the difference in winning and losing. Yeah, I mean, another thing on that front is, you know, something that I thought was sort of a microcosm of the game was UNA possessed the ball for almost 10 minutes of the second quarter there, and they went on a 21-play drive, and I talked to Coach Dierman this morning. In all his years of football, he's never seen a 21-play drive end in no point. So, I mean, it really is kind of what happened in that game. For 20 plays, basically, they moved the ball, they took care of business, and then just there at the end, a holding call pushes them back, gets them behind the sticks, and they have to settle for a makeable field goal, something that Ian Vachon probably knows he has to make, but was unable to get it to go, and that wouldn't have changed the outcome, I don't think, but it would have changed the way the rest of the game went, for sure. So, just little things that they need to touch up on, and taking care of the ball, and special teams are definitely part of that. Read all about it with Matt St. Charles of the Times Daily. It's gut check time. Obviously, the team right now, it's easy to get in the fetal position at the outcome of the last two games, but you've got four games to go, two home, two on the road, including this weekend's show, Halloween at Central Arkansas. Your thoughts about UNA and Central Arkansas? Yeah, I mean, I think Coach Tierman said it perfectly on Saturday night after the game. This is a UNA team that's now backed itself up against the wall if it wants any kind of playoff hopes. You know, I would think eight wins is kind of the magic number for them to have some conversations about getting into the playoffs, but it starts with a 2-6 Central Arkansas team that hasn't won a conference game yet. You have to go on the road and play four quarters of football. Last time they were on the road was almost a month ago now at EKU when they basically didn't get off the bus until halftime. So, you know, you can't make those same mistakes against Central Arkansas. You're going to have to play a complete game. And, you know, the old coaching cliche, you've got to go 1-0. You can't look ahead to West Florida and West Georgia and then eventually Tarleton State, who's the number one team in the country. You've got to go over there to Conway and win a game to even keep your hopes alive. So, you know, we'll see if their claws come out now that they're kind of backed into a corner. You have a busy weekend. You cover UNA on Saturday and then do a high school, one of the local high school games. Friday night, you cover Launderdale County and Wilson. Wilson really has won the surprise teams. They've had a tremendous year. Launderdale County, though, was dominant in the game, and particularly Curtis Ritter, their quarterback, 8 of 11, won 80 in five touchdowns. And then, by the way, he ran seven times for 100 yards as Launderdale County beat Wilson 49-21. That guarantees a first-round playoff game. Needless to say, Curtis Ritter had a pretty good night. Yeah, definitely a great night for not just Curtis Ritter, but I think for the whole Launderdale County program. I mean, that's a head coach at Reed Newton who was a ball boy or water boy back in the day when he was a little kid there. And all those kids have grown up in the program just like he did. So, you know, definitely maybe an out-of-character win for them. I think they run in the wing tee there. They usually will rack up 400-something yards running, but any time your quarterback can throw for five touchdowns, you're not going to argue with it. And I still have a lot of respect for what Trey Lane has done over there at Wilson turning that program around. But, you know, they definitely have another step to take as far as being one of the better teams in the area. You know, you definitely saw a gap there between them and Launderdale County. Well, congratulations to both teams. They've had good years. Florence wins the region. We talked about that. They beat Hartzell 35-17, and then Russellville beat Alston. And, of course, Florence had the head-to-head over Russellville. So the Florence Falcons win Region 7. Muscle Shoals beats Athens 45-20. Central goes undefeated in Region 7, beating Rogers 34-27. They got quite a game Thursday night hosting undefeated Hanton, and they're 8-1. Combrick County won, Langston beat Sheffield, and we're getting down now. A lot of games on Thursday night, trying to get that extra day ready for the first round. Great stuff, as always, covering UNA and high school. If you're driving in from Corinth, Mississippi today and you wonder what the heck is all that traffic about out there on 45 and 72, it may have something to do with either Max Howell driving around his Mustang convertible or a fellow by the name of Donald Trump hitting the stage set to speak in Corinth, Mississippi. And, B.B., I can't wait to hear the national guy say he's in Alcorn County, Mississippi. Can you wait for that one instead of Alcorn County? Yes, the pronunciation will be interesting, won't it? Yeah, let's go down to Ottawa Bay, Mississippi. Or is it Ittawamba, Mississippi? The man who knows all about the Magnolia State is Max Aldean of Sports Talk in the entire southeast now living in the SIP. Max, welcome in. How are you? I'm doing great, and I tried to get into Corinth this morning, but they wouldn't let me hear it. They'll take you back. What are you packing, Max? Well, I don't live 20 miles from downtown. And I knew who was going to be there. Oh, my gosh. Can you imagine the President of the United States on Highway 45 South in Corinth, Mississippi? I mean, what if he's going to go by the White Castle up around 72 and get him a sack of slug burgers? You don't know Corinth until you eat a slug burger and survive. Then you know you've made it, Max. That's right. No doubt. I'll give you something. Did I purpose you guys? Somebody told him that. He's probably going to have a sack and deliver to the airport. He's officially from the SIP when he does that. All right, Max. It is basically try to survive college football. Now that we're on the Monday after this weekend, what was your takeaway? Well, I was just looking down the door. But first of all, there's no undefeated teams in the Southeastern Conference. We got two worldwide loss. And then we got a whole bunch after that. So, first of all, the committee, I think, starts with about two weeks, starts being able to take a look at what's the possibility of a tournament play. And we've talked about this before, guys. The Southeastern Conference, which is the premier conference in the country, I think everybody knows that. They've got more talent. The records just show they have more attendance. That's where the dip works fight each year. Who's going to get the contracts? But the fact is, basically, as I understand the conception of what the tournament play is, to at least make an effort to provide the fans with the best team in the country. I don't think that's going to be able to be happening. Not only with the SEC, though, guys, but the nature of football. Everybody's got good players and good coaches. And the Southeastern Conference, in particular, to a degree, the Big Ten. So, that's the major two conferences left in the country right now. I'm going to be really interested to see the definition that the committee gives for those to select the teams. You know, who would have ever thought this time of the year that Kentucky would have a good loss and sit right there where they are, tied with Georgia? I'll give it to you. And I don't think Vegas thought that, either. But we know that's what it is. I'm just so anxious to see it. Look, of course, we've got Georgia and Florida coming up this weekend. LSU has got Alabama. That's another high-profile game. You know, we're sitting there with LSU with two losses. Alabama with two. Most of these teams that we thought were going to be sitting on the verge of making the tournament are right at halfway season, already got two losses. And if the committee sticks with the two-loss principle of not making the tournament, I don't know who they're going to pick, to tell you the truth. Well, it's going to be interesting, Max. No question about it. Let me ask you, before we get into Alabama and Auburn, we mentioned this earlier. Texas had to have a win, and they did. They jumped out 24-3. Arch looks like the Heisman Trophy contender that a lot of people thought he would. And then the second half happened. And Ole Miss stormed back to tie the game. Texas found out they had a running game in the fourth quarter. Hold on to win 34-27. Max, we talked about this last week. That was a must win for Texas. It is. I absolutely agree. But you know what? That's a couple of goals that's going to be the same way. I don't think we threw sin for the ball game week in and week out. I think the older I've gotten, the way from the game on the field, like I try to do now is just analyze it, and I've been fortunate enough to talk about it. The fact is, in my opinion, the game itself is better than it's ever been. But there's more and better players in the Southampton Conference week in and week out. Sometimes I question maybe some of the coaching that goes on in time and maybe more than anything else. But here's the one thing that I think separates itself as a weakness for most coaches. It's getting those kids back up when they've got back-to-back, big-time games. They have to play emotionally. You look there at some of these games, the way that anybody would see us that would bet on the games, they always take the favorite. The guy that was not the favorite comes up and wins. Tell me how Auburn beat Georgia. How did you explain that to me? I just never have thought that from last week's game at all. But we had some others. How did Florida go out there and beat Texas? I mean, you know, we could go week in and week out in picking that out. So I think it's going to be a, you know, we sit back and look at this year. We're going to say this was kind of a turning point for what we have recognized, particularly the three of us, is recognize what college football has been through the years. Max, it's sad to say the one who's going to come out on top is the one who can stay the healthiest and has somehow managed to meet their budget and have depth. I mean, you look across the board, and the starting 11 is the beginning of the year is pretty good. But when you get to Halloween weekend, who is still up and at them and playing 100%, which is what, in some ways, it's amazing that Alabama is now right in the top 10, given their match report. But it's driving Alabama fans crazy. They don't take that into consideration. Forget that. You're still supposed to win 50 or nothing. I don't care if it's Max Howell, Harold Bugg, and Brett Beaird playing. How do you analyze this team to date where, even when they were healthy, somehow, some way, they cannot put together a full four-quarter game? Yeah. See, I really don't think that's unusual in today's marketplace. I don't know where you're talking, but the fact is, guys, we all have to sit back and say the game is not like it used to be. Right. It's hard to do. And, you know, we've got kids and kids of fans that are big-time fans for their particular school. But they don't do like we do. They don't talk it every day. They don't live it every day like we do. They play big bucks to get to the ball game with good tickets and all that. They love the party time around it. They love to, you know, holler for their team to play. But when they drive away, when they get up on Sunday morning, they may read the scores, but it kind of drifts away with their everyday life. And that's my opinion about what's happening. We take that same opinion, though, and take it to the team itself. And I think, as I said a while ago, I think the talent out there will stand in football team across the board. But the coaching staff that has to get them prepared every week to play, the coaches used to have two or three games every year you had to get up for. That's right. The coaches could do better if they were scattered. Now you've got to be every week. You can't tell me that these coaches don't pull their hair out when they get after they get up a field at night and go back and check scores. They see, you know, some of these scores that are coming in right now of who's beating who. And they say, oh, my God, I've got to play that butch next week. So, I mean, it's a confusing situation it is, I think, for everybody. And for guys like us that have to talk about it every day, you know, I don't think we have an answer right now. I'll be honest with you. We have to just sit back and take it as it is. Max, I agree with you. I used to laugh at Lou Holtz when he said, you have a different team every week. But, Max, just to reiterate your point, BYU beats Notre Dame. Central Florida turns around and beats BYU. Tennessee beats Alabama. South Carolina beats Tennessee. That's the house of horrors for Tennessee. Georgia beats Alabama. Auburn beats Georgia. And, Max, we see it every week now. They're true. That's so true. And, like I say, I've got the numbers of losses on the list I'm sitting here looking at. And you think some of these teams, there's no way they ought to have that, the way they play. But, that's a reality. That's what, more than anything else, Georgia should have never lost the ball game to Auburn by any beats. The quarterback had a bad week. Well, how many times do we see quarterbacks have a bad week? Yeah, that's right. But, the favorite team still wins. Right. They may be close, but they still win. But, that did happen. And, in the ball places, I keep wrapping my head around Kentucky right now. It's just, you know, I'm proud for them. But, what does that tell you about that group of kids as compared to what other groups have been through that program up there? I mean, you know, and I give Coach Terran all the credit in the world for getting them, you know, getting the kids he's got, picking them out, first of all, putting them on the field and preparing them to win ball games. You know, get there. But, you tell me the last, maybe Coach Bryant was the coach at Kentucky the last time they were like this. I don't know. It's been years and years ago. But, the fact is, it's happening. And, I just want to say, I get up there every morning and try to get the scores and try to talk to people around it that are involved with other programs just to try to get an inside feel and try to find and check the emotion of what they're going through right now. And, it's just a bigger question than most everybody I've talked to guys it is to ask. Well, the answer to your question why Kentucky is where they are. We got it back in July at the media days. It's Will Stein. Because, Will Stein said we're going to be good because of Will Stein. So, that must be the argument right now. But, Max, let me ask you about two teams that we and you know about. And, that's Auburn and Ole Miss. Auburn coming off a loss. Ole Miss is coming in with a mat on. What's going to happen there? Well, I think both teams are better probably than we thought. I mean, better than I thought, really. I think Auburn's a little better than I thought. I think they may squeeze out a winning season. The first time in eight years they've been able to do that. The OBS, I don't think there's any doubt about that. The people over there can hate him. Hate Lane Kiff and all he wants to do. But, he built that program. They put him in the position they is right now. And, all these guys that are there, they've all got to do is coach them. And, you know, I thought they played a better than average football game to beat Texas, to tell you the truth. I thought that they played well enough to do that, but Texas pulled it out. And, we can talk about the talent level on both sides. I mean, that's another story for another day. But, the fact is, I think Ole Miss is, I think they're going to be okay. They're going to have to play hard. They don't have a lot of depth. They probably lost their big rookie back again this week. They did. The same shoulder, yeah. So, that's going to hurt them, sir. But, they've still got a good quarterback, and the defense is playing well. And, particularly, you know, if we can get off on another subject about the fish eating, particularly against teams, he's going to throw the ball back. Well, I think there's a blindness out there about defensive backs calls on the secondary. Since I coach that position, I do know the difference between whether it actually is a penalty, should be called, or is called, and whether it's not. And, I'll be honest with you guys, the teams that throw the football at the Southeastern Conference, there is not a wide receiver out there that when he takes the first step off a line of scrimmage, he's being held. That's protocol in the Southeastern Conference. There's a way to teach that to keep it going. But, the other part of that to keep from calling that, if that defensive back would just turn his head and look back up the field of the ball, they would never call it. They would just let you, you know, push you around all over the field. And, that's happening anyway. So, if we know the absence of that calling and those disagreements people have, that's going to call controversy. So, I don't know how to end that. I think that the conference is going to have to address it more often than they have because, right now, the passing the football there in the field, that's just another step going toward the NFL, where as much as the teams are able to throw it. And, the wide receivers and the quarterback combinations that's involved in the SEC is, you know, that these kids are going to try to get ready to get to the NFL. So, you know, they're going to know. The only problems that I've got with it right now, I don't know what happened to the quarterback being the checkoff at the line of scrimmage. I've never seen that, I guess, in two years. I know those guys, you know, used to, we all came along, you look up at the box, there'd be three coaches. There's about 15. So, they're looking at everything with every snap. And, I think that's part of the change that we've seen to make it a better game itself. But, the fact is, that quarterback still got a lot of responsibility. You take the Alabama situation this week, go to Baton Rouge and have to play in front of that crowd. Kids are freshmen, they're talented, they're as talented as anybody they've ever had there. But, they're calling that game from the press box, and I've yet to see him change the player to line of scrimmage. That is warranted in some terms for the talent that's on the team that's on the side of the ball by most teams in this league, I tell you. Max, if you were to put a bet down in August that the three undefeated teams entering Halloween, first of all, you thought it had been seven or eight, it's only three, UCLA, Miami, and Utah. How much money would you have won on a bet in August with Las Vegas if you'd have had those three teams, Max? I don't even know Miami on the outside shot because they've been there before. The other two, I don't even know where I've even been on the hill for any reason. I mean, at this part of the country, those teams come up very rarely as far as competition is concerned. But, again, is that not what we're talking about? That's it, Max. We're talking about the game being strategic, man. It really is. And I guess for all of us, at least acknowledge halfway that we're halfway same, that we don't have to accept that. So, that's why you guys have every day shows you're doing. I move three or four times a week at different shows around the country. And love every minute of it. I'll be honest with you. State Auditor Andrew Sorrell is calling out Republican lawmakers for their hypocrisy during this latest campaign election cycle. Sorrell is a former member of the Alabama House and says that there's going to be an amazing swing in enthusiasm when it comes to tax cuts for Alabamians. Now that Tommy Tuberville is pushing for those tax cuts as he runs for governor, and John Wall is doing so as well as he runs for lieutenant governor. Sorrell says that in the past, state lawmakers have been very reluctant to address the repeal of the grocery tax because it funds the Education Trust Fund. Sorrell says that those who have been resistant in the past are suddenly going to change their tune when a new governor forces their hand. BB, we finished up the last hour with some breaking news from Ken and DeBoer down in Tuscaloosa. We saw the story going into the game with Texas A&M regarding Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. was suspended for that game. And DeBoer's at his press conference today saying, quote, he's not with us. Read into that what you want, BB. Well, I'll tell you what it is. I can decipher it, that he is probably no longer with the team and will not be allowed back. This was his second suspension. It's very unfortunate, Harold. Everybody remembers Dre Kirkpatrick. Nearly won that Arkansas game in 2010 on the road in Fayetteville with two interceptions in the fourth quarter. And his son, Dre Jr., is very talented, but obviously issues off the field. Nothing uncommon about that. I got a feeling that Alice Goldish can relate to that, and so can Auburn fans. Charlie Trotman, former Auburn quarterback, behind the microphone there, radio analyst, Auburn football. Charlie, welcome in. Happy Monday. How are you? Good afternoon, Harold. You and Brett, how are you guys doing? Man, we're doing all right. Charlie, what's wrong with these kids? We saw Alice Goldish have to make a tough decision. You know, this has to really be tough on DeBoer. Of course, Papa played at Alabama. He's a legacy player, but sometimes these kids, they can get out of control, can they not? Well, that's true. And, you know, I think if you're not a good teammate, if you're not good in the locker room, it's a, you know, certainly a distraction. And it can be a real devastating type of situation if it's one of your team leaders, like at Auburn, Xavier Atkins was, you know, one of our only All-Americans. And he was a great player, but evidently not a great teammate. And, you know, the coaches made a decision. And it's a tough one when you got a guy that plays that well on the field. But there were certain things that happened off the field and on the field also at practice that the coaches were disturbed about and felt like it was going to be a better unity for the team to be a team without Xavier Atkins. Absolutely. Charlie, your thoughts. Levitt had been a little bit inconsistent leading up to the Auburn game. And unfortunately for Auburn, he put it all together, and particularly in that first half, LSU looked awfully good. Auburn could not run the ball. Charlie, recap the game for us. Brad, you know, going into that game, I felt like that Auburn was going to have to do a couple of things. One is control, from an offensive standpoint, control LSU's quarterback. Just as you said, he had an outstanding game. And, you know, he's a little bit – I mean, he's one of the top-paid quarterbacks in the country, but he's a little bit inconsistent in the sense that, you know, he is not – he's had some turnovers, said some interceptions and some things like that. And he had a – supposedly, he had a pulled hamstring that was being – that he was going to play on, but he didn't look like it. He ran the ball really well. He threw the ball extremely well. They've got a plethora of receivers. They've got a great tight end. They've got a – they're number four, their receiver, who caught the long touchdown pass on a little square-in route across the middle, and then he outran our two defensive backs, Rayshon Pleasant and Anquan Fagans, to the end zone. You know, they – it just seemed that it was LSU's day. Auburn on offense could not get the running game going. The passing game, you know, would have been successful, in my opinion, if they could have protected the quarterback. But I think LSU had five or either seven sacks on the day, which is incredible. And they're tough. I mean, their edge rushers are extremely active. And, you know, Auburn's offensive line had another inconsistent day. And, you know, that was on both the running game and the passing game. They didn't protect well, and they didn't open any holes. And I think Byron Brown ran the ball a good number of times early in the game and just couldn't get anything going. Had a nice run for, you know, what looked to be a potential touchdown and just got out on the one-yard line. That was his best run of the day. But it was a great defensive game by LSU. I felt like, you know, they were – you know how Lane Kiffin does. He goes for it on fourth down. And, you know, when you thought you had them stopped, you'd go for it on fourth and two. And they ran a reverse pass to the tight end that was a beautiful play. And, you know, it just takes the wind out of your sails when you have a fourth down and conversion by the offense. And then they go on down and score. And it was a tough afternoon. I think Auburn was beaten in all three phases of the game. Charlie, you're good at analyzing this. Your thoughts about Lane's secret to sauce. Everybody talks about his offense. It seems like it's a pretty simple form. He loves to throw to the boundary. He likes to pick up three or four yards on first down, three or four more on second down. And if he's within two yards, he's going for it on fourth down. Everybody's got this image that he just throws it to Hail Mary's every pass. But your thoughts about breaking it down as far as Lane's approach to an offense. Yeah. They didn't really throw a lot of deep passes. Matter of fact, I don't remember what would be a go route. I don't think they actually ran a go route. Now, they threw a couple of back shoulder passes, you know, during the game. But, yeah, he is, in my opinion, he's very good at play calling. Now, I know that's not who calls the plays. You know, Charlie White calls the plays for him, and he's outstanding too. But when you put those two together and they're, you know, making decisions about what they're going to do, puts a lot of pressure on the defense. And then they've got the people that can carry out the execution of those plays. So, yeah, on first down, most times, he's going to throw either a hitch or a little slant or something to get five or six yards. And then it leaves them, you know, with a second and medium, and that makes the whole playbook open to you. So, you know, and then when he has third and short, he generally, you know, they convert. And, you know, at least they did Saturday. And then they had those couple of fourth downs that they went for it and made it. And, you know, they're tough. Now, it's going to be a great game in two weeks with Alabama and LSU down there. But they're big. I was impressed with their size. Their edge rushers are 6'5 and 6'4 and like 260. And they're, you know, they're a handful. There's no question about it. Now, they didn't play really well against Ole Miss and didn't play exceptionally well against Kentucky. That was their worst game. But, yeah, LSU, if you catch them on the wrong day, they can be a handful. Charlie, you talked about that defense. Blake Baker is a really good defensive coordinator. Princewell, you, I'll call him, is really good. Malik Blockton, where's he from? A transfer from Auburn. Jordan Ross, where's he from? From Tennessee. And their best linebacker, Whit Weeks, has been injured most of the season. But, Charlie, you're right. This is a very talented. And, again, that's one of the things that people overlook sometimes about Lane Kiffin. Normally, he's got a good running game and a good defense. A bit of a hiccup there with Charlie. Charlie is traveling, former Auburn quarterback. Hopefully, we'll get him back on. One thing I'd like to ask, Charlie, if we're able to get the connection back and secure, is where does Auburn go from here? Because, you know, it's easy to say, well, if you beat Georgia, you can beat anybody. That's not how the game's played in 2026, baby. Yeah, I agree with that. But you look at Alabama loses to Georgia. Georgia loses to Auburn. Tennessee beats Alabama. Tennessee loses to South Carolina. It's going to be interesting to see if we can get Charlie back on. His thoughts about it. Because as a former player, he's been in that locker room on the highest highs and lowest lows. The question is, I had an old workmate one time who said, don't go too fast. You'll run over somebody. Don't go too slow with somebody. You'll run over you. You've got to get in the middle and level out. It's going to be interesting to see if Charlie's able to get back and address that, baby. Yeah, he's back with us now, Harold. All right, Charlie. Continue your thought there. Brett was asking about LSU. He didn't want to ask you about Auburn here in a second. But continue your thought, my friend. Well, I was just, you know, saying that, you know, LSU, they're very well coached. You can tell that they've got a lot of confidence. They play with passion. They, you know, I watched them during warm-ups a little bit. I watched them, you know, and the crowd did not really affect them. They got off to a good start and kicked a field goal. And then they, you know, got out to a pretty decent lead. And so they took the crowd out of the game, which is what you have to do on the road. And road wins are hard to come by in the SEC. And LSU played exceptionally well in Auburn. And, Charlie, just if you will, continue on the other thought we had in the absence there. Your thoughts about where Auburn goes from here? Because let's face it, these kids, they can get the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. But you have no time to feel sorry for you, Seth, because, ironically, now they're taking on Lane's old team, Ole Miss. Right. Well, you know, Trinidad Chambliss is the guy you've got to stop. And he is outstanding. They got behind Texas 24-3. And they came back, you know, in a big way and tied it up. And it looked like that they, you know, might be able to go ahead in the game. And Texas was able to, you know, get ahead in another touchdown. And, you know, if there was any more time left on the clock, I think Trinidad Chambliss would have tied it up or either gone ahead. But, guys, you know, Ole Miss has done a tremendous job in the transfer portal. Yes. They've got a lot of good players. They've got a good defensive line. Their special teams are good, you know, with Trinidad as quarterback. And then, you know, they've got outstanding running backs, too. And so, you know, Lacey is one of the best running backs in the country. And it's going to be a challenge. And Auburn's going to have – it's an early game. It's an 11-45 kick. And Auburn's going to have to get over there and find a way, guys, to get off to a good start. That's been really a Achilles heel for Auburn all year long is they're letting teams get ahead of them and having to play from behind. And, you know, you can only do that so many times. And, you know, if Auburn gets over there and Trinidad Chambliss has a career day, and now Auburn has been, you know, really bad about allowing opposing players to have career days because LSU's quarterback had the best day of his career against Auburn Saturday. You threw for almost 400 yards and three touchdowns and scored another touchdown. And, you know, if they don't – if Trinidad Chambliss has a game like that, then, you know, all bets are off. But, you know, if Auburn can come up with a scheme where they can control him, you're not going to stop Trinidad Chambliss. But if you can, you know, hold, you know, them to maybe, say, 24 points, then you ought to be in the game. You know, your offense should score that many points and you should be, you know, in the game in the fourth quarter. And that's what Auburn's got to hope for is that it's a four-quarter game and that they're not blown out by a team that's very capable offensively. Charlie, I know a lot of people are not going to give Auburn much chance of beating Ole Miss, but two weeks ago, five at the top seven lost. And this past Saturday, six of the top 16 lost. It has just been an absolutely incredible year, and I think it's only going to continue. We always enjoy breaking down the game with you, recapping it, and you see things with your years of playing quarterback and working with Jim Fyfe in radio that a lot of people don't see, and we tremendously appreciate that. Charlie, always enjoy it, my friend. Have a great week. Let's do this again next Monday. Thanks, Brett. Appreciate it, Harold. You guys have a great one. You do the same, Charlie. It's Daily Update on Bama Sports, and it's brought to you by APS Alabama Professional Services. Hello again, everybody. I'm Roger Huber. Here are thoughts from Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer after Alabama's 31-20 win over Texas A&M on Saturday. All the guys and the way they fought for four quarters and the way they finished especially, just continue to stay with it. And guys coming in and out of the game, you know, they wanted to finish and wanted to be out there coming off the sideline and going out there and giving everything they got. So, you know, different times in the game. It could have gone the other way, but our guys kept finding a way to, you know, make a play and, you know, keep them out of the end zone when we forced them to kick some field goals and then find ways to get some third downs there in the second half and, you know, keep drives going. And so, a lot of things we can continue to clean up. It's, you know, good for us to have a bye week right now. I'll have more in a moment. And Vince Sorara, he's all over the Big Orange. 99.1 The Sports Animal in Knoxville. And on the ball radio network. Vince, welcome in. How are you? What's up, boys? How are you there? Good. How are you? Good. Trying to figure this thing out, Vince. So, Tennessee writes Alabama a check for a half mil. And folks say, where are we going to get that money back? And they go on the road to Columbia. And now Carolina writes Tennessee a check for a half mil. They get their money back. Because it's just Monopoly money, Vince. How are you? Good. I don't have any of that kind of money. I'm glad it's Monopoly money for them. It should be NIL money that's broken. They don't act. They're not. But, yeah, South Carolina apparently got their money's worth more than Tennessee fans did with everything that's floating around about what they did and Tennessee's response. So, pretty crazy. Talk to us about that because, you know, everybody's got a different fan base. And sometimes they hear rumblings. It seems like there's more smack talk in this day and time, I guess, has something to do with social media. That's just kind of how the kids are conditioned. That includes coaches. Your thoughts about some of the smack and just about the game itself. Well, the smack, you know, to me, the fans that largely get on the field, a lot of that is students who want to be seen on social media. You know, so, yeah, in fact, this thing that's new right now that's the fad is videoing yourself shooting the opponent the bird, including that guy with the credential in Texas. It's ridiculous. And that's the main reason why people are down on the field is because they want to go viral on social media and they want to share their friends. Look, I was down the field, all that. It's not because they truly are that excited. Half of them probably have no idea what happened in the game. They're just there, you know, to be students. So, I'm, you know, just kind of over it, but, you know, whatever. A lot of fans, you know, want to have their memories. And for some, it is memorable. For families, I'm sure it is, to celebrate. It's not, you know, 100% bad. It's not 100% good. But as far as the game goes, I mean, if you talk about letting a game get away, that was Tennessee. And, you know, they had a, they're up seven and then a fourth and one at the 37-yard line of South Carolina. Deshaun Brave, Deshaun Bishop went down the play before. So, it's now fourth and one, and you don't have your top running back. So, they call a timeout, and they think about it. They come back. They have Jabin Gordon, one of their backup running backs. They had a good game. But, and then they have their tight end, Brame, in a fullback spot. And they run him and goal line, short yardage, just a fullback handoff. That's the play that was supposed to happen. Instead, George McIntyre, they say, took the wrong steps in getting back. He, to me, he forgot to hand the ball off to Brame, that he was giving the ball to Brame. So, that was the play call. So, they said he took the wrong steps. You know, no one came out and said it. But, that's clearly what they were trying to do. They weren't going to toss sweep on fourth and one to Gordon. So, I mean, it was a big meltdown, a breakdown. And then, South Carolina now has all the momentum. They pass on a long field goal. They didn't convert. South Carolina has all the momentum. They zoom down the field. You see the incredible play by the North Sellers. Ties the game. And then, Tennessee gets the ball like a minute 13 to go. And then, they single block Dylan Stewart, one of the best pass rushers in the country, who's probably going to be a top five pick. They double team one of the interior defensive linemen. They go with a five-man protection, which they hadn't done all game. And then, you leave them single block. And then, here we go. And now, you're getting your quarterback sacks, strip, fumble. South Carolina recovers. They're in field goal range. They kick the winning field goal. And just like that, you're done. And just a brutal way to lose that game that they should have won in any form or fashion. Just survive in advance. That's all you're trying to do in that situation. They couldn't execute. And then, 12 penalties, 90 yards, including three. Yes. Three touchdowns called back through the penalty. And it cost them 11 points because they only got 10 points out of the three touchdowns after the drives that had touchdowns called back. So, all of those things, just, you know, just undisciplined and a lot of self-inflicted wounds. The guys, the illegal man downfield and illegal formation and false starts and all these kind of things. They had been a little bit better at it, guys, in terms of penalties this year with the strength and conditioning as opposed to typical Josh Heupel. But, man, they all came at the worst time in this game. And just, just brutal way to go down. V, I was nearly joking about with you yesterday about the Columbia voodoo hacks. But Tennessee is 2-7. 2-7 in the last nine games in Columbia. Yeah, and then the 12 penalties for 90 yards. Tennessee fans have been complaining about that for a couple of years. But that's what's so amazing. A 35-yarder to brain for a touchdown, a legal shift. 48-yarder to Mike Matthews. Ineligible receiver downfield. I'm guessing an offensive lineman. 18-yarder to stay league callback because of holding. That's cringe-worthy. Yeah, and it wasn't, it actually wasn't. That's where fans have been like, oh, I didn't see an illegal man downfield. They were looking for an offensive lineman. It was actually one of their reserve wide receivers that wasn't off the line like he should have been. So, basically, he was covered up. And he ran a route when he was supposed to be. And that's just guys not paying attention to detail when they get their opportunity. He doesn't play much at wide receiver. And he didn't line up in the right spot. And so, you know, those kind of things. Braylon Staley on another one, who was a vet. But he lined up at the line. And he was asking, should he be off the line? He was right in front of Heupel. Heupel told him, yes, be off. And while he was backing off the line, the ball was snapped. So, then that's an illegal shift. So, it's just those kind of things that hurt them. And now, they don't have any margin for error if they're hoping to make the college football playoff. And then the question is, are they even good enough to run the table with some of the flaws that they show? And then another thing is, what do they do as a quarterback? Do they go back to phase on Brandon now that he's healthy? So, there's a lot of questions with this football team. Hmm, absolutely. Well, that's amazing, bud. Yeah, when I saw the 12 penalties for 90 yards, I thought, I bet Vee had a very interesting morning show with Tennessee's complaining about that. You do a great job. I know you and Josh Ward do a lot of post-game stuff. Vee, where can we get on line and get pre-game, post-game, and getting ready for what they're looking forward to, a bye week as Alabama's got? Yeah, for sure. And Jimmy Himes filled in for John this morning. Another former Vol in Robert Ayers is going to fill in for John tomorrow. So, if you go to our website, 991thesportsanimal.com, just go to the podcast, look for Sports Talk. You can hear our show there and what it sounded like, or just get the Sports Animal app. And I'll say one thing about the quarterback situation. They called different plays for George McIntyre than they did for phase on Brandon. If they bring phase on Brandon back now that he's healthy, because that's who they picked originally, thought they'd give him the best chance to win, and he gives you that running threat. If they put him in, they need to call the plays that they were for George McIntyre, rather than a bunch of verticals and having him in the pocket. George McIntyre, they got the ball out of his hands, they threw the running backs, they got the ball in the hands of Mike Matthews. It was a different play calling for him. But if they're going to run the same plays, then, yeah, Brandon would be a choice to find out what you have. If not, if they're going to call those different plays, then you leave George McIntyre in. We'll see how Tennessee handles it. And you can follow me on all the socials, at Vince Sports. You're a hard-working man, V-Man. Enjoy the off week, okay? Yeah, lots of off time. Shut up, man. Like zero. I appreciate you guys. Always fun to be on with you. Thank you, bud. You too. The V-Man, Vince Rowan, 99.1, the eSports Animal. Alabama entering also an off week. Hey, boom. And we are, William. We can't wait to get your analysis. Is it safe to say this team is very consistent? It's like the dating life for a lot of us old guys here. It was good, it was bad, and it was ugly. Again, where do you start breaking down the latest chapter of Alabama's 2026 season? Well, I mean, I think for the most part, the first three quarters look like a rinse and repeat of the Tennessee game. Yeah. But, you know, the positive takeaways, you know, at least this time they found a way to win. I did enjoy the, you know, the intentional effort to distribute the ball to the tight ends in the fourth quarter. Yeah. And, you know, I think they found, you know, a high motor guy that enjoys getting after the quarterback on their defensive line. Well, however you pronounce his first name. Henry is number four. Yes. T. T. Henry. You know, that's about all the good things I can say about it. Let me ask you this. At what point, and you know this, you know X's and O's, not just wins and losses. I think a lot of folks, if you sit here and look at the way these guys are lining up, what's your take on some of the poor alignments and mismatches before the snap, you know, of the ball? I mean, are you talking about on the defense, Alabama defense? Yeah, on defense, right. Well, I mean, if you want to see something that will absolutely baffle even the simplest of minds, and there's plenty of still shots where people have captured it and asked for, you know, an explanation for it. But, you know, when the offense is, you know, got the ball on the 10-yard line going into score, and the defensive coordinator, you know, basically runs a jailhouse blitz, you know, there's eight people blitzing, there's three DBs left, you know, to cover the three receivers. Right. And the guy that's responsible for the deep portion of the middle of the field, and you've only got 10 yards to cover, who's lined up two yards deep in the end zone, any one of the three of us could complete a five- to six-yard slant pass underneath that coverage. Yes. You know, odds are the safety's going to miss on the initial move by the wide receiver and score just like he did. I mean, you know, you don't put that guy 12 yards deep. No. And, you know, in a situation like that, you take a pass interference penalty versus giving up a free touchdown. Right. You know, and that is an offense in Texas A&M. You know, it's a zone read RPO offense, and that's supposedly what the swarm defense was designed to stop. Yep. Um, so, you know, it's, uh, you know, I wish them luck, you know, in two weeks. Yes. You know, with all the, you know, tape that they've put out there and, you know, everybody's, you know, whether, I don't know if Zabian Brown's going to be available or not, but, you know, they're going to go after the safety. Lane Kiffin's going to, you know, pick on the safeties. He's going to pick on number five because everybody else has, and it's been successful. That's right. Um, I don't know what the record is for completing slants over between five and 15 yards over the middle. I thought Marcel Reed was going to break to his record. He was so good at doing that. And that was, uh, uh, again, it was just absolutely amazing at how they can adjust to that. William, let, let, let me ask you about, uh, the offensive line, um, according to your impeccable sources, uh, is it fairly optimistic that Delgado will return to center for the LSU game? And if that's the case, will Mal Waltrip go back to left guard to replace with, to replace William? Um, you know, I'm going to throw a caveat in there because there, there's plenty of information and evidence out there already this year with, you know, Terrence Green, William Sanders, Ryan Colbert Williams, and Justin Hill. Yeah. I mean, I think, I think Delgado is going to try and play, um, you know, with his type of injury, um, you know, one person falling on it, on his knee again, or, um, you know, if the thing gets to twinge in on him, you wonder how effective he's going to be. Um, and I mean, I don't know if it's a real smart idea to ask your center with a bum knee to do a lot of pulling, uh, but I feel pretty confident that he's going to be asked to do it. Um, and, and, and, you know, yeah, I mean, you got to put Walder back at left guard. I mean, 79 is way, way too light in the loafers to, uh, be trying to play, you know, uh, an interior offensive line position in the SEC. I mean, I, I was kind of shocked to see that Saturday and I, it's nothing against the young man. He's just not physically, uh, put together right now to, to, uh, you know, uh, play that position. Um, so, you know, he needs another year in the weight room to get bigger and stronger, but, you know, I, I give him, um, you know, props for going out there and, you know, giving it to college try. Who should know better than that than former Alabama offensive lineman, William Redfish Barger. I think it's safe to say Russell is a special talent and he's a young talent. He showed brilliance and he showed what the heck are you doing? It's part of the learning process. Your thoughts of where Russell is right now at the quarterback spot. You know, I mean, I honestly, I think when, when you look at the things that they're asking him to do, you know, everybody in their brother, including the Alabama coaching staff, you know, throws that caveat out there that, you know, he's young, he's inexperienced, well, let's see you do, let's see you do something, um, that's not that complicated. Um, kind of like what you saw in the fourth quarter. Um, those, those plays to the tight end have been there all year. Yep. Yep. Um, I've seen them with my own two eyes. Yep. Um, some of the things that you can do with a tight end, um, whether it's a linebacker, you know, an inside linebacker and outside linebacker or safety that's trying to cover them, um, is extremely difficult for the defender. Those are easy, high percentage passes, um, that the quarterback can make, um, you know, throwing the backs out of the backfield. Same thing. Um, you know, let, let's see some, some intention on making Keelan Russell's life, you know, a little bit simpler and a little bit basic and, and, and, you know, putting, you know, he's already got one hand tied behind his back, you know, playing behind a patchwork offensive line. Yeah. He's without his best wide receiver, although I think Rico Scott has done, done a fantastic job in, in, you know, stepping up to the plate and Ryan Williams absence. Um, and, and so, but, you know, I want to see more intentional, uh, involvement of the tight ends and the running backs in the passing game. Let me ask you this, all on that line, where, I mean, we know in the start of the season he was injured, is AK Deerling on a milk carton along with Noah Rogers? I mean, what, that, is that not a head scratcher to you, you too, William? Yeah. I mean, you, you've got to kind of just assume without knowing that, that Noah Rogers still isn't, you know, with Ryan Coleman Williams being hurt, um, and, and him not basically, you know, being, him being on a milk carton, that he's gone missing. Right. Uh, you know, you can say the same thing for AK Deer with Crowell being available. Yep. You know, if those two guys didn't, didn't get any reps, then, you know, maybe their injuries are still lingering, but, um, you know, when you see Kevin Riley get in there and, and, uh, you know, and maybe something has happened in practice, um, you know, that we don't know about. Right. But, uh, you know, it, it, it is what it is, but, you know, it's, it's, uh, this, this is going to be a, another hostile environment, you know, it's, it's not quite as bad. And, and I think, you know, with the majority of the game being played in broad daylight, uh, next Saturday, um, it'll take a little bit of the intensity out, but it's not quite as bad as a trip to Tennessee, but it's bad. Um, and, and, and so, you know, and, and, you know, look, you know, had some success down there, um, you know, and so, you know, we'll see what happens, but, you know, they got an off week. Maybe some of these guys can get closer to a hundred percent, you know, maybe the coaching staff can do some self scouting. Um, you know, it's, it's not the quick turnaround time, like you saw between the Tennessee and the A&M game, but, um, you know, man, there, there, there needs to be some, some soul searching. And, and, and, you know, um, don't get me wrong. I'm a, I'm a big believer in regardless of the play, it's the player's jobs to execute the play that's called, but it, you know, that that's part of, you know, the first bullet point on a coaching resume is, you know, can said coach do a professional job at putting his players in a position to be successful? We can, we can. Uh, William, I agree with you. And particularly about that, if they'd have played in the fourth quarter, the, the, the first three quarters, like they did in the fourth quarter, that game would have, would have not even been close. Russell finished the game completing nine of 10, as you mentioned, getting the tight ends involved and even Daniel Hill. Daniel Hill's not going to, is not Gail Sayers, but he's pretty good catching the ball coming out of the backfield in the fourth quarter. Alabama had 102 yards to 15, eight to eight first downs to zero. Um, I, I know a lot of people like to see a duplication of the fourth quarter against LSU. Yeah. And I don't see why they can't, you know, package that fourth quarter film and build upon what changed, what changed in that fourth. Exactly. It was short, controlled passes. Um, you know, Russell moved around in the pocket, outside the pocket, you know, move that pocket. You know, if you, if you're short on the offensive line, you know, creating a moving pocket, you know, buys them a little bit more time, give them run pass options. If, if the, you know, the tight end or the wide receiver or the running back, whoever it may be, you know, if the primary, you know, first or second target, um, you know, isn't available and there's green grass, you know, take off and run and slide. Um, you know, the, the, the, look, I would love more than anything to sit there and watch, you know, a five to a seven drop, uh, you know, pass pattern develop. Um, but I just don't think the circumstances and the situation right now, that that's not exactly a recipe for success with the injuries to the offensive line and Ryan Coleman Williams. Absolutely. Uh, two questions to end before you go, how was the crop you fishing on Saturday? And secondly, I hope this Monday is a h*** of a lot better than it was about three weeks ago. Well, this Monday is a lot better. I, uh, I kept my word and I didn't watch the game live and, um, you know, we, we caught about 16 crappie. Um, you know, it's, it's a different world now than the last time I went. My buddy that I went with has one of those side scan and sonars in his boat. And, you know, you, you pull up to a, you know, some, some sunken Christmas trees and he makes a cast in there. And after one cast, if a couple of them don't chase his jig, then he just pulls the trolling motor up and we move on to the next pile. So, you know, I, it's been a while since I played a video game, but it's time Saturday on the water. That's what I felt like I was doing. Oh, man, listen, William, have a great week, buddy. Let's do this again next Monday. Sounds good, buddy. Thank you, bud. Okay. Absolutely. There you have it. William Redfish, Barger University of Alabama offensive lineman back in the day.
