It's time for the Valley's exclusive FM Sports Voice. The Boomo Bugg Show. Your exclusive inside track to the Tigers, Tennessee and the rest of the SEC. Now your host, Harold Bugg on 93.9 The Score. Good afternoon and welcome in to the Boomo Bugg Show. I'm Harold Bugg alongside Brett Beaird. Thank you so much for giving us free ride around the Tennessee Valley. Brett Beaird, welcome in to the third Saturday and October Eve. Good afternoon. Welcome in to the big question. Have you got your woolly bullies ready? Happy Football Friday. Yeah, it's going to be a shock to the system after three consecutive 90-degree days this week. But we'll preview the top games in the SEC and across the nation throughout the show. Zach Pounders recounts last night's big win for Dashler over Brooks in tonight's key games in the Shoals. But Jimmy is here right now to talk about the keys for the Crimson Tide. Have a good day in Knoxville tomorrow. Jimmy is Jimmy Stein, co-host of Locked On Bama. You guessed it, as part of the Locked On Network with Luke Robinson. He's got you covered there at literally covered Crimson. That podcast is Buddy Travis Ryer also on YouTube. You can check out both places there. Jimmy, welcome in. Thank you for checking in with us today. How are you? Oh, doing great. Just glad to have reached the third Saturday in October. The big question, are you healthy enough to join this Alabama team? Do they have a chance, based on all the folks and all the mass report coming into this game, Jimmy? Yeah, they are banged up, certainly even at some key spots. I know a lot of attention in that Ryan Coleman-Williams won't play in the game. I think a bigger loss is likely the center, Rayson Delgatti being out. You know, I think Alabama's got receivers that can make plays, and even some receivers we haven't seen much of, like Noah Rogers and Sidarian Morgan and Derrick Meadows. They can step in and replace some of the playmaking that you're losing with Ryan, but going from Rayson Delgatti to Mal Waldrop at center, Mal's a good player. I think Mal is probably more than capable of being a starter in this league at guard, but he has not played center in a college football game. Now, he's played center quite a bit of practice. He was the scout team's center last fall, so he's actually played a lot of snaps at center on the practice field. Now, not so much this spring, not so much this fall, but not only do you have him making his first start at center, most likely, it's an incredibly loud, difficult environment, maybe the toughest in the whole league, and secondly, you know, he's got to block that Gilliam kid at Tennessee who's absolutely one of the best defensive linemen in the country, if not the best, and Mal Waldrop would have to help there. So, it's a huge ask for him, and there'll be a lot of eyes on that, as there should be, but I think that's the bigger loss than Ryan. Jim, let's stay with that mass report on the other side of the ball, without Mr. Green being able to maybe throttle some of that running game for Tennessee, your thoughts on that side? No, but the way all that this Alabama defense has got to do is shut down one of the best running backs in the country without Mr. Mean Green. Yeah, it's a big loss, too, because of all the defensive linemen, the interior defensive linemen, especially Terrence Green, probably the best of all those run stoppers, so this is a big loss, too. However, there is depth there. It's not like what you have at that center problem. Right. He's got Kedrick Bingley-Jones has played well, and he's a big kid. He'll most likely be the recipient of a lot of the snaps lost there, so he'll play a lot. You'll see guys like Asiah Faga, Edrick Hill, and with the return of Justin Hill, most likely, that means Justin Hill can play some snaps at Wolfe, which means Yonsei Pierre to band it, which means Devin Tompkins slides inside and plays more snaps inside. There you go. Alabama's got some answers there or multiple alternatives, so it is a story, and it is a thing because you're matching up with such a good rushing attack, but I think Alabama can withstand that better than they can the loss of the center. Yeah. Jimmy, we discussed this last week, the chess game between the coordinators, and you've got a good one. Jim Knowles, considered to be one of the best defensive coordinators in the country, going up against Ryan Grubb, and you alluded to this. Tennessee leads the nation in the conference in sacks with 25, with Gilliam, Withersby-Dye, Amari Campbell, and Arian Carter. Their front seven are, quite frankly, a load, but how does Alabama compensate with that with Ryan Grubb? Hot reach to tight ends and back, screens, draws, quarterback draws. Talk a little bit about the chess match between Knowles and Ryan Grubb. Yeah, it's another good one, just like last week, and you saw that. I really think that Kirby Smart and Glenn Schumann had an effect on Keelan. It was obviously Keelan's least productive day. Now, some of that, of course, is he's facing elite athletes on Georgia's defense, but I do think Kirby Smart and Glenn Schumann had a good plan for dealing with an inexperienced quarterback, and you know Jim Knowles will, too. It's another great chess match. I think, again, if you're going to take advantage of Keelan, it's nothing athletically. It's nothing about his skill set. It's about his lack of experience. So we're going to see Knowles confuse Keelan, showing some things he hasn't seen, maybe do some of the same things he saw Georgia do. Now, in terms of what Ryan Grubb's answer to that is, well, Keelan's now seen Georgia, and he's had that. I think Keelan is as good as any young quarterback at banking experience. You know, now that he's seen it, he doesn't tend to repeat the same errors, and I do think that he's one game better, but that one game was against Georgia. It makes a big difference. I think a bigger issue for Keelan might just be the road noise. Now, he's played on the road in the league at Kentucky and at Mississippi State, and that's not like, I mean, that's a big deal, especially Kentucky this year and Mississippi State with the Cowbells. Those are noisy environments, so it's prepared him, but it hasn't fully prepared anyone for what I think has allowed a stadium in the league. So I think noise is going to be a significant issue, and Keelan, how he handles the noise and how he handles maybe the early part of the game. At Kentucky, it didn't really go great, you know, the early part of the game when emotions were high and the crowd was at its loudest. He's going to experience that again. He's got to handle it a little better than what he did at Kentucky. You know, Jimmy, just listening to that, to me, field position is going to play a huge role. The last thing you want to do, I mean, Georgia handled it because they got a season quarterback with a season line. They had terrible field position, but they still got out of it. You're looking at a different ballgame here. Would Alabama, maybe if they win the coin toss, take the ball first and maybe get the ball on the 25, avoid him because if Tennessee gets it and you stop them, they can nail you deep in your own territory. Your thoughts about that, and everybody talks about Alabama's smash report. Let's face it, Tennessee's got some key issues as well in the secondary and on the O-line. Maybe I'm too conservative about it, Errol, but the way I look at playing on the road in loud, emotional environments, I would play really early on not to lose the game. I know some aggressive coaches, and you've got to applaud them for having that point, want to come out and make a statement early. I think when you're on the road in a loud environment, something's more likely to go wrong than right. And you've got to just kind of survive the early part of the game and not get in a big hole. And then at some point, it will subside a little bit, and then it gets back to talent and who's got the best team on the field. But you have to survive, to me, the early part of these road games. They're so emotional. The fans are loud. There's a lot of anxiety that I think you feel. I think it was Mike Tyson that everybody's got to plan until you get hit in the mouth. You're going to get hit in the mouth early, and these road games, you're going to take your shot. But then after that happens, you can kind of settle in. So I would hope myself that Alabama's early plan is a little based on, hey, let's not self-immolate here. Let's not get in a big hole. You know, drives it in with kicks, even if their punts are better than drives it in with Tennessee having the ball in plus territory. So let's just settle in early until things calm down and then find out who the best team is, because I like the talent matchup, Alabama versus Tennessee. Jimmy, let's turn it around with the Alabama defense going against the Tennessee offense. McIntyre starting his second game. I know he's got some experience. He had three turnovers, two interceptions in the fumble against Arkansas last week. But he also threw for 200 yards. He's got some very good receivers. The Sean Bishop runs better in the fourth quarter than he does the first quarter. I've seen that in particularly in some of the games this year. Now, Tennessee doesn't have this Jalen Hyatt offense, who went wild and scored five touchdowns in Knoxville a couple years ago. Well, they're more tight, more condensed formation, bunch sets, pistol looks. Can the Alabama defense slow down, not stop, but slow down Bishop and rattle McIntyre? Well, the goal has to be here. You know Deshaun Bishop is a game changer. He's one of the best running backs in the country, not just the league. Like you said, he gets stronger as the game goes on, which is just simply the sign of a great back. So if you're Womack, Kane Womack, you go into this game, I believe, thinking, okay, Tennessee may beat us, but it won't be Deshaun Bishop. And I think what you do is you double up numbers. You put a heavy emphasis on stopping the run, and you say, hey, if George McIntyre beats us, then hats off to that young man. And you just kind of force the Tennessee quarterback to win the game and don't allow the backs. Now, that's something that's much easier said than done. Alabama wouldn't be the first team that went into the Tennessee game knowing they needed to stop Bishop. Others have tried and failed spectacularly. I mean, the kid rushed for 230 yards against Auburn. So it's easier said than done, but no doubt that's the focus. Now, McIntyre, obviously, is going to be a really good quarterback down the road, but for now, he's a young pocket quarterback with limited mobility. He's a sack target back there. I mean, this is a Yonsei Pierre, Devin Tompkins, Justin Hill, Xavier Griffin type game. Texas sacked Tennessee, what, 10 times? Yes. I don't know that Alabama will get to that number, but you don't have to. You can dominate this game with four, five, six sacks as long as when you get the ball back offensively, you're getting some points out of it. So it's a sack game with George McIntyre, a quarterback, but the focus will have to be on limiting Bishop. He's like a great basketball player, guys. He's going to get his 20 points because he's so good, but what you want to stop is him getting 40. Right. I mean, you know, you lose if he gets his 40, but hey, you give up the 20 because he's going to get that no matter what. Jimmy Stein locked on Bama. Jimmy, let's talk about it. Everybody talks about offense and defense and the matchups there. Let's talk about something else that we know from experience can influence the game. Special teams. Who's going to return pots with Williams out? And oh, by the way, if you go back, trivia fans, and see one of the most penalized games Alabama has suffered through is at, at, let me repeat, at Tennessee. And after last weekend's game, it shows you the power of the boys with striped shirts. Yeah, it's fair for Alabama fans to be super nervous about the officiating because you've got the combination of, you know, we all saw what happened last week and how it quite frankly may have changed the outcome of the game, frankly. I mean, you know, when you're talking about the number of big calls in those moments and where they took place. So you got Alabama fans nervous about that, but they also remember a couple trips to Knoxville. So where, where they were upset about the officiating, add those two things together. And there's going to be a lot of nerves for Alabama fans looking at those striped shirts. As to the special teams, there could be more nerves here because Ryan, the loss of Ryan, I think might be more felt at punt returners and wide receiver in the sense that the number two punt returner for most of this year at practice has been Dijon Lee. Well, Dijon left a punt at Mississippi State and he's sort of a, I wouldn't say on the outs, that's not fair. But I also think it's fair to say maybe some confidence has waned both on Dijon's end and on the Alabama staff's end. So is Dijon really going to be the punt returner? I'd be a little surprised if he is, though I don't rule it out. But if it's not Dijon who's been number two, it's very likely to be Rico Scott. Rico's a dependable guy. He's having a very good season. I think he's solidified himself as the Tide's number three receiver. But the fact of the matter is, a little bit like Mal Waldrop, here you have a kid doing something for the first time in a college football game and he's doing it in that environment and that noise. Fielding putts while 10 guys are screaming down the field to kill you is a very difficult thing to do. One of the hardest things to do in sports, I think. So, yes, Rico, you know, I think what the plan should be in this situation with a new guy is just to go heavy on the fair catches. And you tell Rico, hey, we're not going to get bothered. If you call a fair catch and you had room to run, fine, fine. Just catch the ball. And we'll worry about the playmaking later. But it is a difficult spot for someone doing it for the first time in a college football game. Absolutely. And, Jimmy, another aspect of Tennessee's special teams is punter Jackson Ross. He dropped three punts in the first quarter inside the Auburn 10-yard line. In fact, one of them went down to the one-yard line, which bottled up Auburn pretty much that entire half. If you plan on making the trip up to Knoxville this weekend, there's a good chance you may go through the backyard of our next guest. If you go through Chattanooga, honk three times and wave at Jim Gomm, who is the owner and editor of theblitzsports.com, and his book is called Conference Pride. Jim, welcome in. How are you? I'm good. How are you guys? Hey, Jim. Man, we're doing all right. Third Saturday in October. I remember a lot of trips up there. Jim, the thing that I think is before we get into the game, for the fans heading up, going up is one thing. Coming back, it's a long trip back into Alabama. What is, there's a dam or a big area up there between Chattanooga and Knoxville, and every time I went up, fog would come into that valley by that, you know, I hope you know what I'm talking about there. The reason I bring it up is be careful is what I'm saying. Yeah, it's near Calhoun and Charleston, Tennessee. There used to be a paper mill. Well, there's still a paper mill there, but they don't put out nearly as much paper as they once did. But it contributed to a 99 vehicle accident several, probably about 25 years ago. But, yeah, it can get very foggy. By the way, I've seen a lot of Alabama and Tennessee flags flying up the interstate today. So, yeah, they're getting there early, man. It's me. And here's the one thing. A lot of people are like, oh, SEC shouldn't go to nine conference games. Listen, without nine conference games, the Tennessee-Alabama rivalry, it would be played every now and then, but it wouldn't be played annually. So, to me, the nine-game conference schedule saved this rivalry. Mm-hmm. Crimson, orange, and green. That is the favorite number for these TV folks and the guys who count the beans. Where do you start in breaking down, oh, by the way, the game itself, Jim? Well, I mean, obviously, Tennessee has a different quarterback than I thought they'd have. You know, I mean, Faison Brandon is not 100%. He got hurt that Texas game. He probably should not have even played any of the Auburn game where he played almost an entire half with zero passing yards. You know, so they've made the change. Listen, I think George McIntyre is a good quarterback. He probably knows the playbook better than Faison Brandon, but he doesn't give you that extra dynamic of the escapability, similar to like, you know, Russell does with Alabama. So, listen, I do think the future of Tennessee football quarterback position is Faison Brandon, but it doesn't look like he's going to play. Well, he's not going to start. Let's put it that way. I don't know if he'll get in a game, but right now it doesn't look like he's going to play. Jim, I think the other most intriguing game in the SEC, and there's a good slate of it this weekend, is Missouri at Ole Miss. A top 13 matchup. The Rebels a six-and-a-half point favorite. Austin Simmons going back to Ole Miss. He's really led this resurgence for Missouri. Jamal Roberts has been running wild, 8-28 rushing. Keywon Lacy is healthy, and that makes a big difference for Ole Miss. The Missouri defense, Rodriguez and Hopkins, are really good, too. This is a fascinating game for me. Missouri at Ole Miss, Jim. Yeah, I've gone back and forth on this game. And, you know, the quarterback situation is what it is. I mean, had Trinidad Chandler's not gotten the opportunity, you know, we may be talking about two different quarterbacks starting for both teams right now, but what happened? And, you know, some people say, well, you can't lose your starting job via entry. Well, listen, that's how Tom Brady got his job in New England. It's happened before. We've seen it happen. And both programs have probably benefited when you look at it. But, man, I'm telling you, this Missouri has shocked me. I didn't think they'd be this good. Now, that being said, you know, Ole Miss might beat them by, you know, two touchdowns on Saturday. I like Ole Miss more than anything because they're the home team. But this Missouri team, they've made a believer out of me. I'm buying into Missouri football. If you think someone can't come off the bench and take your job, if Luke Gehrig was still around back in the day. Jim, obviously, can you imagine, and I think anyone's going to say it's going to be LSU and it's going to be Mississippi State. But can you imagine in a what-if world, State comes down and says, you know what, we loosey-goosey. We're going after you. Can you imagine? To me, that's an intriguing matchup. I think LSU's going to win. But can you imagine if things go south for LSU and those crazy Cajuns? Lane Kiffin may be making his decision to go there and not to Florida or stay at Ole Miss. But, yeah, I'm like you. I think that LSU probably comes away with the win. But, I mean, Mississippi State, when they are not turning the ball over, they're a dangerous team. We know the quarterback situation is very, very solid there. And defensively, Mississippi State at times can look okay on defense. Other times, not so much. But this is a very intriguing game, too. So, I mean, everyone talks about these other games, but I'm sitting there going, because you can see, and I can't imagine the noise coming out of Baton Rouge if they were to find a way to come up short in that game. It would be fun to listen to. Yeah, Jim, I agree with you. If Fluff Bothwell, who did not play against Alabama, they had a bomb week last week. Camario Taylor, both of these guys are questionable. If they are at 75%, that could be a very interesting game. The South's oldest rivalry, and we all know this one, Auburn at Georgia. Georgia's had a hammerlock on this one for many years. Jim, will Georgia have a little bit of a hangover after that emotional win over Alabama? And Auburn had a bye week. Maybe they can figure a few things out. I don't think there's any question. Georgia wins this game, but they're nearly a 20-point favorite. Do they cover that? Yeah, that's the thing. I think, you know, as far as a hangover, Curvy Smart just does not allow his team to have those hangovers. But Auburn having two weeks to prepare, do the players get better in those two weeks? I don't know. I know they're healthier. They're not as beat up, but I just think the talent disparity is too much. And I think Georgia wins this game fairly comfortably. Do they cover the 20? You know, it's just one of those things where you can see this happen. Georgia's up by, you know, 24 points, and then, you know, Auburn scores a touchdown with 30 seconds to go in the game. You see that all the time. But I just think as far as, I just, this Georgia team, man, they're solid. Curvy Smart, man, it's year after year after year. This guy puts a great team on the field each and every year. Let me see who his mentor was back in the day. Jim Gomm, TheBlitzSports.com. Jim, another interesting matchup. We mentioned before, the folks out in Vegas, they got Oklahoma being okay against Kentucky. To me, that's an intriguing matchup. It is an intriguing matchup. And, you know, watching that Texas-Oklahoma game, I came away, as soon as that game ended, I'm like, oh, the better team lost that. I mean, to me, Texas is clearly the better team. But you can't turn the ball over and do the things that Texas did to allow Oklahoma that little slither of hope. And they took advantage of it. Kentucky and Will Stein, I'm telling you, I'm a believer in these guys. If this guy was in Lexington, I think I'd be thinking that Kentucky would win it. But in Norman, that's a hard place to play. And, you know, the tear's got to be better than he's shown. Maybe that last drive and taking the Sooners down for that game-winning field goal might be the thing to get him going this year. Because he looked so good in September of 2025. And at the time he's gotten hurt to now, he just hasn't looked like the same guy. I mean, he's got to be in there somewhere. Maybe he'll come out against the Wildcats. I like Oklahoma, but, man, I think this is a one-scored game. Yeah, Florida and Texas are going to be interesting, too. Again, Florida still goes through some growing pains. You know, how does Texas respond from losing to Oklahoma late in that game? That's going to be very interesting, too. Jim, the Blitz is a godsend for college and NFL fans. The tidbits I always enjoy. The earliest game to 1,000 yards. Most yards gained by a quarterback. You've got all sorts of great stuff. Standing scores, college, NFL. Tell us a little more about it, and how can we get a copy? Yeah, we've been doing this now. We're just about 20 miles outside of Chattanooga, so you'll go right through Cleveland. I'm about a quarter of a mile from the interstate, so I might hear you. We'll have to honk really hard to make you hear us there, G. Thanks so much for your time. Have a good weekend, all right? You too. Thank you, Jim. There you have it. I will tell you this. He is named one of the 50 legends of the Alabama Sports Writers Association. Knows what it's like to be behind the microphone at the Zone ABC 3340 down in a place called Birmingham, Alabama. Doug Segrist, welcome in to the third Saturday and October Eve. How are you? I'm good. I'm ready for some old-fashioned football. Red jerseys, orange. Absolutely. I'm really excited about that. You know, the young kids may not care, but, you know, it kind of went away when we came of age. I'm excited for that. Old school. When do we become of age? That's the question, Doug. I'm still trying to figure that out. But, man, speaking of age, I think some folks have covered this series a long time. Does any one game stand out more for you? For me, it was the game with Gene Stallings when I think Tennessee was, I think they were, like, second in the country. Yeah, 1990. Nobody gave Alabama a chance. And Philip Doyle lit up the cigars by lighting up the nation. Nine-six. Doug, your thoughts about some of your favorite third Saturdays? That would probably be one of the tops. When Peyton came to Birmingham and they just obliterated Alabama 41-14. Joey Kent. Yep. Yep. And when they stopped the streak in the early 80s and, you know, just stormed the field and took down the goalpost. Were you on that field too, Doug? No, no, but I was covering Tennessee when they, when Doyle hit the game winner. Remember, Tennessee's kicking the go-ahead field goal. That's right. It gets blocked. I mean, that was just a wild game. Nobody, everybody expected Tennessee to win going away. Yeah. Absolutely. Yeah, I remember 73 is one of my favorite when they went into Legion Field. 21-21 going into the fourth quarter, and then Alabama scored 21 points. Robin Carey had a 63-yard punt return, and Wilbur Jackson had an 80-yard run in that game. Let's look at it a little bit. Tennessee leads the nation in sacks. How is Alabama going to compensate with some hot reads? Can they continue to run the ball effectively? So many things here. Alabama's got the advantage of quarterback. Tennessee's got the advantage on the defensive line. How does Doug Segrist see the final? I think Alabama has to take away Deshaun Bishop, first of all. You know, this is a Tennessee team that's become very one-dimensional, phase-on injury. McIntyre is a great game manager. We hate that title, but he's effective. But if Bishop is running wild, they've got a big, I mean, they're going to pull off the upset. So, I think it really comes down to that. You know, this is second defense in a row. Alabama's just faced somebody who can, you know, disrupt everything. And, you know, I think they have to be patient and look for their opportunities. But, you know, to create the passing lanes, you've got to get running early on. And, Doug, did you say the final score in your book was going to be? Did I miss it? What was Doug Segrist's final score there? I'm kind of predicting Alabama by about 10. I just think they're the better team. We'll just see how it shakes out. And the way I look at that, when I ask that question, I always say, okay, are we talking A-game to A-game? Then I agree with you. But the officiating in that game can go squirrely. We know about turnovers and all that stuff. So, A-game to A-game. I think a lot of folks would agree, Doug. Let's talk about another game you've covered over the years. None of us covered the first one, did we, in the Auburn-Georgia series. I'll check the records on that, but what do you see there relative to the spread? Well, listen, that first one through Telegraph. Telegraph's on a part of the spread. Listen, this is a mismatch on paper. I mean, Georgia's so much stronger. But they're beat up. I mean, you've seen Kirby talk about it. You know, they're down the fourth string running back who just lit up Alabama. They've got some injuries on the offensive line, on defense. You know, it's just Auburn is catching them at the ideal time you've had. Right. Kind of weak to rest up. I will go back and say this. Byron Brown is a good quarterback. He's not necessarily playing the way they want him to play. Who knows what a week of rest has done to acquaint him with this offense. And, you know, really new personnel. So, I think Auburn has a shot. You know, again, Georgia can kind of play it up ugly and then put on the, you know, the afterburners. If Auburn can keep it close for a half, I think they got a shot. Interesting game to me. A lot of people overlook this. Florida at number seven, Texas. The Longhorns a ten-and-a-half point favorite. Florida's had two disappointed losses, and particularly last week to South Carolina got ahead, and then South Carolina just blitzed them. Texas, of course, lost at the end to Oklahoma. Arch, I don't think it's going to New York, at least right now, 53% completion percentage for the Heisman, but Florida has the worst pass defense in the SEC, allowing 270. A lot of people think Texas is going to win this game going away. Texas certainly is favored, but can they cover that ten points? I think they can, just because of their defense. And Philo, you know, there's some question of his health. They haven't been able to run the ball like they did when they're winning. I just think Texas has something to prove right now. You know, had they come out last week with a narrow win, you know, maybe you catch them off guard, but I think Florida's catching them at a bad time. This kind of officially eliminates Florida from the discussion for playoffs. Always a fun question to ask on a Friday. The biggest upset of the week in the SEC, a lot of the national pundits are going to Oxford and saying Ole Miss may have a good team, they may have the home cooking, but Missouri is going to play up to their show-me-state status. They got the Tigers over the Rebs. Do you agree? Yes. Listen, we've been talking about Missouri all offseason, like they're kind of the, you know, the sleeping, dark horse. They've got a really good quarterback who's going home. They've got a, you know, they're top running back. We haven't even seen the field yet because of the tragic circumstances, but Roberts is just incredible. I mean, this team's for real. If they had to get over that mental edge of beating a top 25 team now, I think that's part of their DNA, and I think this is a very underrated team. Not that Ole Miss is less than stellar. I think Ole Miss is really good. But, again, that Ole Miss schedule is kind of catching up to them. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Uh, night camp on the SEC network. Kentucky, those cats, they're on fire. Oklahoma getting a little bit of love and juice after coming back to beat Texas. Kentucky, they've won two consecutive games, 35-34, by converting two points. Will Stein said, this is going to be a better team because of me. Uh, Oklahoma with John Mateer just, they have just struggled. He found Satega on a couple of passes late in that game. Uh, but Kentucky's got so much momentum. This should be a fun game in Norman. Uh, the Sooners, a six-and-a-half-point favorite. Can the Cats spring another upset in Norman? I'm a big-blue believer. You know, I think they're better than some of their parts. You know, you look at this roster, there aren't any real superstars that jump out at you, but they play so well together. They've got the science confidence. Um, you know, I think they can score quickly and put pressure on you. We saw a little better play from Mateer last week. Yeah. But they still have trouble protecting them, and I think Kentucky can get after them. So, I like Kentucky's chances. I think, again, not to the level of maybe Missouri, but I think Kentucky's the real deal. Doug, obviously, since the last time we talked, the elephant in the room finally is starting to knock the hinges off the door. And that is 2014 playoff. It looks like it's not an if, but a when deal. Greg Sankey, what a week. First of all, I want you to tell me, explain to me what a judgment call is. That was Greg Sankey's quote, not mine, and then basically saying, look, ESPN, if you want all this inventory and you want to pay us this much money, come on in, have a glass of iced tea, and let's just get this contract signed. Your thoughts about what looks like a storm is coming, whether you like it or not, and that's a 2014 playoff field. Well, initially, I'm like everybody else. I don't like it. I think it's too much, and then I take a step back, and I think we're getting rid of the championship games, which really don't have the value they did 10 years ago. I mean, it's more risk than reward now. Then I think around the, you're going to have two rounds on campus. So let's say you've got Missouri and Illinois in the first round, and you think, well, that doesn't really excite me. That's what, 15 versus, you know, 23. 15 degrees. Yeah, what's the big deal about that? That might be your ReliaQuest bowl matchup. I mean, what we've done, we're talking about bowls are dying, and we've taken kind of the lesser bowls, and we've put them in a playoff setting where people aren't sitting out or just missing the trip altogether. And, again, we're getting back on campus. So I like that. I think it has the potential to be better than we expect. And, again, if you're going to have a playoff, it has to be a national playoff where everybody has access. And, again, you're getting the group of six in there may end up being, you know, six SEC teams and five Big Ten teams, but there's room for everybody. So I'm starting to warm up to a little. So, again, if you can kind of end it where we traditionally end it around January 1st or the week after, you know, by the time the national championship game comes up now, most of us have forgotten college football's still being played. And I think it affects the ratings, it affects the interest. So I like this tighter schedule. And I'm not one of those who say, well, it means the regular season is now meaningless. Because let's look at Alabama-Tennessee this week. Loser that, you know, any previous incarnation is out, regardless of what they do the rest of the year. You've got two losses, boom, you're gone. Now it's putting games in November that are meaningful that we've never had before. Yeah, the rivalry might have mattered, but the outcome didn't. So I think I'm going to go in with open eyes more than I expected. Yeah, and I believe the first round is eight games. Second round is eight games. But, yeah, I know a lot of people are going to like the, at least one of the positive things about it is, is the game's first and second round, the higher seed at home. One more before you go, young man. Indiana finally plays somebody. The Buckeyes are coming in. That's the early game on Fox. Ohio State's defense looked pretty bad against Illinois. They've tightened up some. Indiana's still pretty good with Floyd. Ohio State, a three-and-a-half-point favorite going to Indiana. Did the Buckeyes win this game? Yeah, I think they can. I just think Ohio State's the better team. We haven't seen anything out of Indiana yet. They lost so much from last year's national championship team. I think they're kind of in a precarious spot where they almost have to win this game. Because what if Ohio State wins this by two touchdowns or more? You know, you're looking at the premier Big Ten team having lost the opener against what may end up being the fourth, fifth, sixth best SEC team if Texas doesn't come through. So, I think this has a lot of reverberations across the Big Ten. I think it's going to be a good game. You know, again, Indiana does pass the eye test, but they really haven't been in a situation yet where they've been tested for 60 minutes. Yeah, I agree with you. Now, let me double-check with you again for tomorrow. Refreshments, the plumbing is working, the TV's working, you've got the hoodie ready for the chill tomorrow. Are you ready for another incredible college football Saturday? Yeah, I think I'm going with a quarter zip. Just to stay warm more than the hoodie, because my head stays warm. You know, all that hair up there. I think I'm ready. I might go by the grocery store just to make sure. There you go. Absolutely. I've got six bags. That's the boy, Scott, and you always be prepared, Doug. Thanks for your time, Dan. Have a great weekend. All right. Thank you all. Y'all have a good one. You too, bud. You too, Doug. There will be four amendments to the state constitution that Alabama voters will consider on the upcoming ballot this November. These amendments will be on all ballots within the state's 67 counties. The first amendment has to do with filling the lieutenant governor's office in the event of a vacancy within the first two years of the four-year term. Amendment 2 would allow for county school boards to consolidate with a neighboring school board if they want to, but it also has a mechanism for local residents to oppose such a consolidation. Amendment 3 would require school boards to change their policies in order to allow for student-initiated and led prayers during school hours. The same amendment would also push for a daily recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. And Amendment 4 has to do with the national anthem being played or performed more often within Alabama public schools. I'll be back with more Alabama stories after this. And for Mike Huganen taking time out of his busy schedule as National College football slash basketball analyst down in Orlando, Florida. Mike, welcome in. How are you? Doing well and really looking forward to what should be a phenomenal day of college football tomorrow. Mike, obviously, we appreciate you taking time out. You have the national voice at the table. I know where we are in SEC country. We'll get to that. But is this the week we finally find out just how much depth Indiana has or vice versa, Ohio State? If you don't mind, let's start there. What are your thoughts on, let's face it, a huge showdown, not only for this game, but for a lot of teams for the balance of the schedule? Yeah, this is one of the biggest games left this entire season. Two teams in the top five. I think Ohio State's better. Ohio State was, in some respects, lucky to escape Nebraska last week. The Huskers had a defensive meltdown in the fourth quarter, especially on what turned out to be the game-winning touchdown pass. I mean, I could have thrown the ball to the receiver. He was so open. Ohio State is not going to make that kind of defensive mistake. I don't see how Indiana is going to stop Jeremiah Smith. Indiana has two really good receivers in Marsh and Becker. But if college football wide receivers are a ten-story building, Smith is four, nine, and ten by himself. I don't think Indiana can stop him. Indiana really has not played anybody. The best team they've played is Northwestern, and they struggled past Northwestern. Yeah, that's right. And they struggled past Nebraska. I don't think Nebraska's that good. So, I certainly trust Julian Sand more than I trust Josh Hoover. I trust Jeremiah Smith more than any other player in the country. I think Indiana's defense is solid, but so is Ohio State's. Indiana's running game is pretty good, but I think that Ohio State will run the ball more effectively than Indiana. And I think Ohio State goes into Bloomington and wins. Let me ask you about the other big marquee game. Notre Dame at BYU at 630 game on ESPN. Kalani Satake is a good coach. BYU is a very physical team. A lot of people have been looking at this game as a measuring stick for Notre Dame. But L.J. Martin, what many people think is their best offensive weapon, will miss the game with an injury. Interesting quarterback matchups with C.J. Carr and Bear Bockermeyer. The Notre Dame defense is plus 13 turnover margin already. Notre Dame is a 10.5 point favorite. Mike, do they win and cover? Yeah, L.J. Martin, I don't think people realize how good that guy is. He is. And him being out, really, that just, that guts, I think, BYU's offense. Bacermeyer is a gritty quarterback. He can run. He's getting better as a passer. But I don't see how a team like BYU missing its best offensive player. I know the game's in Provo. BYU is physical. The crowd can be seemingly nasty. I think Notre Dame wins. I don't think Notre Dame will be sweating in the fourth quarter just because Martin's gone. Now, whether that means they beat the spread or not, I'm not sure. Notre Dame has to get up for two games this year. This one and Miami. And that's it. You know, the three of us could play for Notre Dame the other 10 games and they'd still win. It's, yeah, without L.J. Martin, this game has lost a lot of luster. I don't see how BYU can score more than 17, 20 points. And I think Notre Dame's going to score high 20s, if not mid-30s. Mike, you make a good point. Now, maintain it again and just follow us through on it. You mentioned that the three of us could play. When FIBA said, let's go to this nine-game SEC schedule, it's one thing to navigate. It's another thing to get through it healthy. Case in point, you look at Alabama's roster and Hawkeye and the crew are busy in Tuscaloosa because look at the schedule they've faced. They go into Tennessee this weekend. A lot of key guys missing. Your thoughts about Alabama at Tennessee. I know what Vegas is saying. What's Mike Hugan saying? I don't see how Tennessee has enough firepower. Bishop's stud. And the Tennessee offensive line, despite its breakdown against Texas, is good. Not elite, but good. But you look at the quarterback situation. If I'm an Alabama defensive player and I'm watching, wait a second, George McIntyre starting? You kidding me? The Tennessee defense is good enough to win the game. The Tennessee offense does not. And I think if I'm a Vols fan, there's some irony there. Because you figure you have a Josh Heupel coached offense. It's going to be an offense that is extremely productive. But the passing attack to me is a non-entity because of the bad quarterback play they've gotten. So, I think this will be a lot like the Texas-Tennessee game. I think Alabama wins. I think the Tennessee defense keeps them in it. But Alabama has too much offensive firepower for Tennessee. Which, again, if Tennessee can... I would be shocked if Tennessee even throws for 200 yards. And that's how bad I think the Tennessee pass offense is right now. Let me ask you about another intriguing game. Harold and I have talked about throughout the course of the week is Missouri at Ole Miss. Missouri is legitimate. Roberts, Ahmaud Hardy, yeah, they thought, well, he's going to run for 1,600 yards again. Hadn't played a down yet. And Roberts has run for 828. They've got a pretty good defense. Rodriguez and Hopkins are good. Austin Simmons going back to Ole Miss. But Ole Miss has Chambliss. They've got Keywon Lacey back. Now, the Ole Miss defense has had some holes, and particularly early in the season, making an intriguing game. Missouri at Ole Miss, the Rebels, the 6-and-a-point favorite. Yeah, to me, this is all about the Ole Miss running game. Lacey played last week, very little. I think he had five or six carries. If he's healthy, you know, close to healthy, close to 100%, and runs effectively, I think Ole Miss is a better team. But I think the Ole Miss defense, I think you're being kind. That's not a good defense. That defense scares absolutely nobody else in the SEC. Austin Simmons, I think, will be going back to where he started his college career. I think he will have a chip on his shoulder. I think people don't realize Austin Simmons skipped two years of high school. He played one year of high school football as a sophomore. Then he had enough credits to graduate, went to Ole Miss, was the starter last year, early in the season, got hurt, and then Chambliss took the job and never gave it back. I think Simmons has – Simmons is still growing as a quarterback. He's got a strong arm, throws a really nice deep ball. Roberts has been better, I think, than people expected. The Missouri offense and the defensive lines are quite good. The Missouri linebackers are studs. But this, to me, comes down to the Ole Miss rushing attack. If they're effective on the ground, they're going to win. If Missouri keeps Ole Miss under 100 yards rushing, I think Mizzou wins. I think Simmons will hit some plays. I think Roberts will be effective. But I think that I can see this game being in the 30s if Ole Miss can run the ball somewhat effectively. And the more points that are scored, the better it is for Ole Miss. Mike Kuegan of National College. He'll ball-slash-basketball analyst, Mike. No one's giving Auburn a chance against them dogs. Just Mike Kuegan. No. No. I don't think Auburn is good. Georgia's got running back problems. It did not matter last week. They renounded their third-string tailback. The White Phillips runs for 120. Stockton, I don't care what team you cheer for, you have to have an appreciation for the kids. Yes. He's greedy. Quietly. Everybody, like, he's not really that, oh, my God, he won again. He doesn't seem to lose. The Georgia defense, I think they're going to, let's put it this way. If I'm Byron Brown and I'm watching film of Georgia, I'm thinking, oh, my God, I'm going to get hit 100 times. My offensive line will not be able to protect me. So, unless Georgia coughs it up three or four times, I think Georgia will win by at least two touchdowns. Mike, Missouri and Kentucky have been the media darlings, Cinderella's this year. Kentucky going to Oklahoma after another wild 35-34 two-point conversion against Oklahoma, who played well against Texas, came back and won at the end. Kentucky doesn't do a lot of things great, but they do it. When you put everything together, they keep winning ballgames. Can Oklahoma get enough offense with material? Did that get him going? It should be a fascinating game in Norman. Yeah, I think Oklahoma won last week because Texas basically said, here's the game, take it, we don't want it. And that, you know, heck, Arch Manning gave him the game on a silver platter. Manning continues to confound people. This will be, to me, by far the best defense Kentucky has. Yeah, you know, you look at when Georgia beat Oklahoma 41 points, but the Oklahoma offense gave away 14 points. So, I think that Oklahoma's defense, the fact that they're at home, the fact that they have turned their season, at least they're in the right direction now. And that would, they would be knocked off the road if they lose this game. I think Kentucky, yeah, Will Stein deserves just a boatload of credit. The idea that Kentucky can beat LSU and it not be some kind of flukish thing, it's intriguing. But I think that Oklahoma's defense is going to be a little bit too much for Kentucky. Kentucky is playing well. Again, you've got to give Stein credit. But I think Oklahoma is going, I think Oklahoma has sort of been rejuvenated. Mateer can make plays against the Kentucky defense. The question is, can Mateer avoid turnovers, which has been an issue. But, you know, if Mateer turns it over once or twice, I think, I actually think Oklahoma's going to be okay. If it's more than that, they're in deep trouble. But I think Oklahoma's defense is going to do its job, and Oklahoma beats Kentucky. Mike, any chance that the boys from Stark Vegas can go into Baton Rouge and make life even more miserable for Lane Kiffin? I think everybody outside of Louisiana State fans are hoping that happens. That would be epic. I mean, you know, losing. I think Ole Miss, LSU fans are like, okay, that's losing Kentucky. Oh, my God. And now losing. Those people, their heads would come off their bodies. I think LSU is going to be out for blood. I think one advantage for Mississippi State. Evidently, LSU is a little bit ticked off about how I'm going to play a day game, which they're catered to by the TV schedule. But I think LSU gets back on track. So, I think it's obvious that Sam Levitt, at his best, is a good quarterback for Kiffin. But he makes so many mistakes. In the past, if a Kiffin quarterback messed up, it was because Kiffin called a bad play. I think Levitt messes up even when the play call is great. I think LSU wins by double digits, but I'm here for it if LSU would lose at home. Mike, great stuff. We've really enjoyed breaking down games with you. I'm like you. I think this may be the second best slate we've had so far this season as far as games in the SEC and nationally. Enjoy it to the hill tomorrow. Let's do this again next Friday. Excellent. You might want to dress a little warmer than usual if you're going to make a high school game in our neck of the woods tonight. Unless you attended a high school football game last night, what a difference the word bro's going to make. Zach Pounder's out busy last night. He's the founder and editor of the show of Sports Report. Zach, welcome in. How are you? Doing good. How are y'all? Hey, bud. Man, I'm doing all right. Obviously, the weather's going to be a factor, I guess, a little bit tonight. It's going to feel more like football weather. But first, I guess you had the last chance to put on your summer clothes last night for that Denshler showdown. Your thoughts about Denshler and Brooks? Yeah, all day and enough, I checked the weather Wednesday night about tonight. I thought, well, that's going to be pants weather, not shorts weather. Yep. Talk to us about that. Yeah, go ahead. With Denshler and Brooks last night, though, Denshler has dominated this whole season, basically. I think they're better than last year, ironically enough. Starting out last year, a top-heavy West Morgan team. I think Denshler team is better than last year. And I think part of it is, either run game Denshler has this year, it's more like the old Denshler teams, under such mother s***, and the wing tee with Coach Higgins as the OC way back when. And it's not the wing tee, but it's more of a run-heavy offense. And they can play on a run, a straight pass, or a deep pass, and beat you anyway. I agree with you entirely. I've seen Denshler play three times. Armani Jones ran wild last night. I'll tell you one thing, when he kicks it into second gear, he is gone. Bryson Williams had a tremendous game. I think he's been a big part of it. But he got hurt in the fourth quarter, and I hope that he is going to be okay. Maybe we'll hear something about that down the road. But as you mentioned earlier in the week, Denshler could clinch, which they did, first region championship since 2022. And I agree with you. I think Denshler is better than last year. Heckelberg beat Cherokee last night, 48-0. Maddox victory had a very good game again. Boy, that is going to set up a big showdown. With Heckelberg in undefeated Addison next week. Yeah, Addison tonight goes to Red Bay. It's just a place to play at Red Bay. But I don't know if Red Bay can score. If Red Bay scores more than seven points tonight, that's a moral win for Red Bay. Yeah. Because you'd be the first team that's won more than seven on Addison all season. That's right. Addison has allowed like 18 points all season or something crazy low. It's not the most of the defense last year, basically. You can also get on the schedule, too. But, I mean, with Addison, if they allowed more than 10 points or not, it'd be more a walk for Addison. And I think they're going to have a racing championship game next week. One of those where it could be close, it could be a blowout. Mm-hmm. Zach Tyner's looking up with his show, Sports Report. Zach, obviously it didn't take too much to think about a huge showdown. Florence High flying in unchartered skies, unbeaten at 7-0, packing it in for an always interesting matchup over at famed Ogles Stadium in Decatur, taking on the boys from the south side of town, the Austin Black Bears. Yeah, Austin and Florence, at Austin High School. And it's one of those that Florence, if they could play any of the game in the region, I think they would. They would want to. The numbers with Austin do not favor Florence, historically. They're 3-6 at Austin, 2-5 in the last 7 at Austin. And I think that Florence could play anybody else in the region, Russell, Muscle Shoals, whoever they would want to tonight. Mm-hmm. But I do think that Florence could win this game. Austin has only lost to most of the shows in the region. And that was a blip on the radar for Austin, I think. They beat Athens and beat Hortons last week, coming back from the 21-3. Yeah. 21-3, that was 10 minutes of the game. But for Florence, there's a lot of history going into this game. Also, on our Facebook page, you can read the history of the Bradshaw coffee aspect of this, with the undefeated stars and all kinds of stuff. Austin finished the playoff spot with a win for Athens' loss. And then Florence finished with a win as well, which is the reason why the win. But if Florence loses this game, then Russell will all say the next week becomes a race championship game. And Florence is basically the backseat of the car for the race championship. You've done a great job previewing this game. The Decatur Daily, the Florence-Ostic game, was their game of the week, too. And Caleb Suggs has done a really good job of that. Wes Morgan at Hamilton is one of the more intriguing games to me. The winner of this game will take the number two seed in Class 4A, Region 7. And I mentioned this guy, Mason Holloway, I think, along with Bryson Williams, two of the best quarterbacks. Houston Tilbs, Kristen Shilp, et cetera. A very interesting game tonight with Wes Morgan at Hamilton. Yeah, I don't know if Wes Morgan has played at a place like Hamilton since they played at Deshler in 2024 at the end of the season. Hamilton has just thought Deshler basically is a tough place to play. They're going to have air horns, train horns. Whatever you can get in there to make noise, they're going to have it. And I know people don't like it, people love it, and I love it. I mean, I say why not, until somebody says you can't. But Hamilton is a tough place to play. Deshler got out of there, escaped last year with a win, and picked a round on a block that's point. And they had to come back and win that game. I don't know if Wes Morgan has enough, especially with an eighth grade quarterback. Yeah, we're going to make sure we're clear on this, Zach. The Austin game will be on campus there at Austin High, so we'll make sure we clarify that. The other game I think is interesting. Your thoughts about a team that's been around a long time. Cormac County, the Indians, no stranger to playoffs. Your thoughts about a road game tonight against a pretty good football team. Yeah, this game is one of those Cormac Kings should win, but Cormac Kings also played a lot of close ones lately. And that last 33-0 on J.B. Pennington. And J.B. came back and made that a 41-31 game late. So Cormac Kings up 33-0 in the halftime. Excuse me, sorry. And then J.B. comes back into it and gets back into it. Cormac County, Lexington, and Phil Camel, though, with a win tonight or all-punch playoff. If Falk will win and J.B. Pennington loses, Falk will play this playoff. Wow. Let me ask you about a team that you mentioned to us again in the summer that's going to be much improved, and that's Wilson. They're 5-2, 4-1, hosting Rodgers. Rodgers, same record. The winner will remain in contention to host a first-round playoff game. Your thoughts on another intriguing game, Rodgers at Wilson. This might be the only night you ever see Central people cheering for Wilson. Yes. Because if Central wins and Wilson wins, Central wins the region. Mm-hmm. Because Wilson will beat Rodgers, and then Rodgers had two regional losses to Central's none. But, yeah, Wilson-Rodgers, that's one of those interesting games where Wilson, kind of a trap, in my opinion, for Wilson, to beat West Lomson last week to win this playoff. You don't have Rodgers and Lauderdale County back-to-back to the Southern State administration to beat, in my opinion, because of the history in the last several years. But if you win this game for Wilson and Lauderdale County beats Clement, you have a playoff game next week for a home playoff game next week or in two weeks. But if Rodgers wins this game, I have no idea what to think about it. If Wilson wins this, Wilson-Lauderdale County in a home playoff game, playoff game next week, if that makes sense. You've got to get one of the big old fat computers to figure all that out, Zach. Your thoughts about Muscle Shoals. They got off to a slow start. A good chance to keep the momentum going tonight. East Limestone, let's face it, 0-7. I think the record speaks for itself in all due respect. But your thoughts about Muscle Shoals after this, a couple of games go in the regular season as far as looking beyond. Yeah, the Regency Muscle Shoals started out tough, but it got easier as the season went because you start off in Florence, Austin, Hart, so Russell has the first four. And you go 2-2 in those four, and you get to the caterer last week, blowout and caterer. They're at 3-2 in the region. If Muscle Shoals wins and Athens loses, Muscle Shoals in the playoffs again. But Athens has a parcel in what is an elimination game for those two teams, basically at 3-2 in the region. If you get a full loss in the region, it's hard to bounce back to get to the playoffs. Mm-hmm. Let me ask you about Tanner at Lacington. I saw the only loss that Brett Mask had, of course, with Colbert County when they won their 700th game. Tanner coming off a rough loss to Phil Campbell. I think the Lexington Golden Bears are going to continue to roll tonight. Yeah, well, ladies and gentlemen, I'm sure you can continue to win this game. And honestly, at this point, with 2-8 region 7, I think it's a matter of getting to week 11 and see what happens with the region. Yeah. Well, I guarantee you one thing you can have on Facebook probably tomorrow, the contingency as far as what happens for the next couple weeks. By the way, it was great to see you last night. That game took a little while with all the TV timeouts. You do a great job previews, postgame, the standings, the tail of the tape is one of my favorite segments that you have during the course of the week. Bundle up tonight, but it's football weather. It is playing football against each other. Justin Perkins says it may be the longest. He's got the Auburn Tigers covered there at the Auburn Observer. Justin, welcome in. How are you? I'm all right. How are y'all? Hey, Boone. Man, we're doing all right. Justin, obviously, this is the old rivalry. Crazy things can happen as Texas and Oklahoma. I know a lot of folks are referencing that. Number one team versus an unranked team. Neutral side in that game. Before we get into some of the particulars of what may influence this game, what is your old review of this game coming in? I mean, it's a huge challenge for Auburn to be competitive in Athens for four quarters. It hasn't happened really since 2009. It's the last time Auburn scored more than 13 in Sanford Stadium. So, I mean, if Auburn scores two touchdowns, it's better than they have been the last, you know, almost two decades in that building. It's a big-time challenge. Georgia's the best team in the country. I think they've proven that. Obviously, with the way they beat Alabama last week, you know, just a good, complete game. They don't really have a lot of flaws. There's not an obvious weakness on this team. And Auburn's coming into this game, you know, very much in the early stages of a rebuild. And, you know, you're trying to find some progress, find some steps forward after the off week and see if, you know, even if you can't win this game because it would take a lot, just to, you know, put yourself in a position to upset Georgia. Maybe you can find some momentum, something new, some progress, show that you're making some improvements on the field. And then you got LSU back at home next week. So, I think for Auburn, it's an opportunity to take a step forward, you know, and show what you look like against the very best in the country. I wouldn't expect them to win, but, I mean, I'm telling you, if they hit the second half and this game's still competitive, it's something we haven't really seen in Sanford Stadium from Auburn in a long time. That's what I was going to mention to you. Again, I know everybody, Georgia's a 20-point favorite. Everybody knows that, but what if Auburn could get through a game without a lot of pre-snout penalties, don't turn the ball over, run the ball to where they've got long drives to keep Georgia off the field. in other words, this game is 24-14. That could really help Auburn with some in particularly momentum for the month of October. Yeah, 100%. I mean, I think there's an opportunity here to show that you've made some improvements this season. Like, that's your best bet, I think, if you're this Auburn team, is that you come in this game, do some different stuff on offense, put the ball in the end zone, finish some drives against a team that's really, really tough, and then show some improvement on the defensive end. You do that and you know, you hit the third and fourth quarter and it's still a game you can hang in there with. No one's going to throw a parade, no one's going to be happy with a loss. It's a rivalry game, but it would be one of those things where you could show some progress and you show a step forward. So, for this Auburn team, it's all about you were off this past week, you got extra time to prepare for this game, extra time to self-scal, extra time to hopefully improve, whereas Georgia is coming off that really, you know, that really emotional, really good, you know, hard-fought game against Alabama last week. So, you know, you should be the fresher team, you've had more time to prepare, go out there and make that matter and just don't go in there and get blown out like you have been so many times that you've walked in there the last, you know, 15, 16 years. Yeah, absolutely. Let me ask you, Xavier Atkins suspended for this game for what I've heard a multitude of reasons, but linebacker is one of the deepest positions for Auburn. How can DJ Durgan compensate for his absence? Yeah, I mean, I think when you lose Xavier Atkins, you lose some of the, you know, a lot of what you lose is the ability to make plays in the opposing backfield. He's really good at doing that. He's a good tackle for lost guy. He's a good pass rusher. I do think though, there, it comes with some, some problems at times. He has had a hard time, you know, finishing tackles. He's missed a good number of tackles this year. That, that rate's gone up. Auburn's run fits have not been very good. They've given up big plays on the ground at a higher rate this year. Guys being out of position. The best way I can describe Xavier Atkins, he's a fantastic player. He's kind of a stick of dynamite and sometimes that dynamite blows up and it hurts you just as much as it hurts the other team. So when you come into this game if you're DJ Durkin, you've got that extra time to repair, clean up the mistakes you've had. Look, linebacker's a deep group, safety's a deep group. This shouldn't be a defense that has given up so much on the run. You've got Bryce Diaz who's probably going to end up playing the majority of snaps without him, without Atkins available. I think Diaz has played a cleaner game this year. He might not be the playmaker that Atkins is, but can you play some more sound defense? Can you avoid giving up the truly huge play? And can you mix and match there? It wouldn't surprise me at all if Auburn went out there tomorrow and played more sound defense. It might not be as impactful. You might not get as many negative plays without Xavier Atkins, but they've got to clean up some stuff and they're going to get an opportunity to because they do have the depth and they do have the personnel to survive losing a guy like Xavier Atkins for this weekend. Justin Ferguson, the Auburn Observer. Justin, it's safe to say when you saw that game last weekend, that may be why Georgia is so consistent. Do we give Kirby enough credit? I know on this side of the state line, he's a dog, but at the end of the day, one thing he does in 2026 that's so hard to do, and that's build depth. They beat Alabama with their third string running back. And for uppature teams, that's more of a luxury, but it's safe to say that game kind of illustrates where we are. If you're going to win and set the bar high, you better recruit depth. Yeah, they're one of the few teams that I think is able to stockpile depth in this day and age. I think even teams like Alabama have seen it's kind of harder to keep guys in-house. It really is, but Georgia, with the amount of winning that they do and the consistency they have, they've done it. Yeah, Georgia's got an extremely deep running back room there. They're extremely deep and tied in, extremely deep and inside linebacker. They can manage kind of those absences. Yeah, I mean, this is the standard. This is the standard in the SEC you want to compare it to. I know Georgia doesn't win the SEC every year. I know they don't win national title every year, but they've barely lost the last, you know, since the last time Auburn beat Georgia, Georgia's like barely lost at all. So, you know, this is the team you're trying to measure up against. And so, yeah, it's one of those things where it's like this is the gold standard. This is what you're fighting against. And if you're a team like Auburn, you're coming in, it is year one. It is a rebuild. You've had, you know, you've gone backwards as a program for the last several years. You need to show that you've made some progress and some steps forward. It's impossible to compare it to it, but, you know, maybe for 60 minutes on a Saturday, you can look more like on their level than you probably have had the last few years. Let me close with this. Will the same offensive line that lined up against Tennessee line up against Georgia? Yeah, that's a good question because I think if there was any time to make a move, it would be coming after this off week. I would not expect to see a lot, see Cole Best being changed out at center. That seems to be the one that they're pretty much sticking with. I think Stanton Rimmel is a guy that's probably going to continue to keep his job at right tackle, but maybe the guards, maybe some more rotation to left tackle happening. I really think the thing for Auburn is you're five games into the year. You are what you are on the offensive line. It's not very consistent. It's been underwhelming. I think the bigger news for Auburn in this game is you've had this extra time to prepare. I think coming off that Tennessee loss, one of my biggest takeaways was could you, if you're Auburn, learn how to play better behind that offensive line and just know that you're not going to magically get better up front over these next few weeks, but can you help Byron Brown? Can you help that offensive line out? What can you do to make sure that those guys aren't, you know, you're not opening yourself up for a lot of damage. So for Auburn, I think it could be a situation where you may see some more passes on first down. You may see some more kind of like two-minute drill kind of approach early on. Spread the field. Don't let Georgia sit back there and tee off on that offensive line because they're as good as they get up front, especially on that interior. Absolutely. Listen to the Crimson Tide Sports Network for Crimson Tide Rewind live from Baumhauer's Victory Grill in the Stavie Hills Monday nights at 6 p.m. Tune in and roll Tide. Welcome back in, BB. We've been doing some underdog trivia so far. It looks like you need maybe a life jacket there. This week's question for you, how do you spell dog? Well, Georgia spells it D-A-W-G, but underdog spells it D-O-G. Who says you can't to do this trivia thing well? BB, where do you start in your picks of the weekend? Evelyn Christian is a three-and-a-half point favorite going to UNA tomorrow at 6-0-2. As you mentioned, their record is three-and-four. Very deceiving. Yeah. Played at number 10, FCS Lamar. Number 10, FBS Texas Tech. Stephen F. Austin is number three. Mercer is number 23. UNA's rush defense is very good at 1-0-3. I think the UNA defense in the home crowd will keep UNA in the game, but Evelyn Christian is too battle-tested. Evelyn Christian, 24. UNA, 21. Woo! Auburn, there's Rick again. Auburn at number one, Georgia. The Dawgs, the D-A-W-G, a 19-point favorite. Auburn coming off a bye week. Harold, I think they do play better. Georgia's got a little bit of a hangover, but the Auburn roster just isn't built to keep up with Georgia. The Dawgs run for 200 yards. Stockton throws for 250. Georgia, 34. Auburn, 10. Woo! Alabama, thank you, Rick. Alabama, 7.5 over Tennessee. We talked about it all week. Got to get off to a fast start. 7 or 10, nothing. Take the crowd out. Tennessee's biggest advantage is their ferocious defensive front led by Gilliam, but Alabama's got a bigger one with Keylon Russell. Lottie Brooks, big plays. Alabama runs for 150. Alabama, 28-21. My stupid underdog pick. Hang on! Let's go. It's UCLA, three and a half over Wisconsin. Not so fast. Wisconsin and Luke Fickles had a good season. They've surprised a lot of people. UCLA played a high physical game against Oregon. Yeah. Big upset here. Wisconsin upsets UCLA. Wow. That's right. There you go, Brett, going with whiskey again. No surprise. You know, the nice thing about the UNA game is Bama and Auburn both play at 2.30 tomorrow. UNA plays at 6. Do you realize this is the first ever conference game on the Bobby Wallace Field at Bank Independence Stadium. Get out if you can. It should be good weather. 6 o'clock the kickoff. I know AC is favored in this game coming in, but I'm going to go with those Lions. 27-23. Do you agree? Yeah, baby. Stay with them dogs. Georgia and Auburn. I kind of agree with you, but Georgia's got the home cooking. I wouldn't be surprised to see some adrenaline early, but in the end, Georgia wins. 31-17. Yeah, baby. And the upset special as far as we'll get that in a second. Alabama and Tennessee first. Look, this is an apples-to-apples game. If they both play their A game, watch the beginning of this game. Alabama's got to get out. They can't get behind. Tennessee doesn't have an offense to come from behind. I still think it's going to be a little closer than folks think. Alabama, 27-23. Just get out of the game. Yeah, baby. Yeah, baby. And the stupid underdog pick. Yeah. Are you ready, baby? I'm ready. Nebraska and Oregon. Wow. I know Nebraska. Yeah. We're going to go out and we're going to reach up there to the Big Apples. How about them Huskers? 28-23. Stupid! You're so stupid! And there you have it. What's up? BB, are you ready for some Florence football tonight right here? 6 a.m. pregame, 7 o'clock kickoff. Don't miss the scoreboard show with James and Blair. They do a great job of that. Coach's breakfast in the morning at 8 o'clock in Alabama pregame at 11.30. All of this. Where else? 93-9 the score. It's a football buffet on the 3rd Saturday of October. That's going to take care of business for now. On behalf of BB, Greg James Blair, the entire crew here. Terrell Buck, thank you so much for your time today. Let's do it again Monday noon to 2 with the Bumble Buck Show back here on Sports Radio from 93-9 the score.
