It's time for the Valley's exclusive FM Sports Voice. The Boomo Bugg Show. Your exclusive inside track to the Tide, Tigers, Tennessee and the rest of the SEC. Now, your host, Harold Bugg on 93.9 The Score. You know, I guess some of it just goes back to I've seen, we've seen, you know, Gunnar Stockton now a number of times and so, but he keeps getting better and, you know, you get, there's more, I think, probably more familiarity and that's us with them and them with us too, you know. And so, you see, yeah, as much as there's new faces maybe at a couple positions, there's a lot of the same faces and you can see the little tweaks and little things that they continue to do to work around their personnel and get their guys highlighted, the right guys in the right spots, you know, especially on offense. And, you know, I think we do a lot of the same things, but just, you know, this version, I mean, has just jumped all over people. I think that's the biggest thing is they come out of the gate swinging. And so, you got to be ready for that and, you know, we got to be ready when the ball is kicked off. There you have it. The words and wisdom of Alabama boss, Kalen DeBoer, like a lot of folks, got an eye on the sky for this weekend showdown in Tynetown. We're probably on to the good Lord and maybe James Spann knows for sure what's going to happen right now on a Wednesday afternoon. Good afternoon to you. Welcome in. I'm Harold Buck, normally joined by Brett Beaird. He is somewhere between here and the Gulf Coast. Hopefully, he'll be able to work his way in between now and 2 o'clock this afternoon. But we do appreciate you hooking up with us. We have got a jam-packed show. Obviously, it's Wednesday. Everton hooked up with UNA boss Brent Dierman. And David Weathers is going to be on board. How about his favorite Yankee, the status of Ryan Weathers with the New York Yankees, talking about being up against the wall. And being up against the wall, what about the Atlanta Braves? It is do or die time. Will they survive in even that series tonight? Or will this be the end of the road for the Atlanta Braves? He's going to be talking about that and more with David. Rodney Orr is going to be on board with us today. He's going to be giving us the latest from Tuscaloosa, what he's hearing. As far as the local weather folks, and you know, the obvious question of what happens if things don't work out for Saturday. Andrew Adelson is going to check in from ESPN a little bit later on. Going to be giving us a kind of escape across the entire college football world right now. And my, how things have changed since the last time. This guy named Keelan Russell, his stock going up as far as the Heisman. What do the folks at ESPN say about that? Double A on that. Jim Gomm will take us all over the SEC. And of course, Double D, Drew DeArmond, is going to be on board a little bit later on. So let's kick things off with the obvious topic. What about this weekend and as far as the weather? It's Wednesday right now. I've seen, obviously, all the scenarios on the board. And I wish folks would just be honest. It's Wednesday and right now nobody knows. I think just conjecture and common sense would say and experience. Probably will wait until tomorrow afternoon, maybe early evening before making it. Because, let's face it, these tropical depressions, hurricanes, they have a way of making up their own mind. The good Lord is going to be what determines that. There's what they call the nasty side. If you're on one side of the hurricane, I don't pretend to be a meteorologist. But there's one side. They have the same storm, pretty much along the same path. But it depends on which side of that path you're on as far as how it comes back over you. You just kind of look at it like it's this big swirl out there. And if you're on the wrong side of that, you get all that wind. You get all that rain. And here's the other bugaboo, possible tornadoes. So, you've got the literally perfect storm, the president of the United States. You've got game day coming on. You've got a big game itself and, of course, the storm. So, we'll be checking in and getting the very latest with Double D and, of course, Rodney Orr about that. But let's just say that the game does rock and roll. The obvious question in this scenario, who does the rain favor? And if you look at the stats, it is a very hard question to answer. And here's why. Just break it down. Remember when your parents told you when you had to make a tough decision. You take a blank sheet of paper. You draw a line down the middle. You do the pros here. You do the cons there. Here's the deal. When you do that with these two teams and you try to compare stats, yes, one's going to be ahead of the other one. But the margin is, look at your fingernails right now. It's about that thin when it comes to the running game, when it comes to the passing game. One thing that you know that's going to happen is Kirby is looking at Keelan Russell right now and trying to figure out. You get the feeling it's almost like pick your poison with this because Kirby knows that he goes back to his days with Nick Saban. The keys to success shut down the running game. In an amazing modern era with all this fancy stuff going on, the basics still work. If you shut down the running game, the crazy things can happen in your favor. And that last year obviously was a strategy and it worked championship game. But you've got this guy named Keelan Russell now. If you shut down one, then another, it's like the prairie dogs. Another head pops up over here. So they're more multidimensional. It's going to be interesting to see the strategy that Georgia will throw at them. One thing that I think is safe to say, this is going to be the biggest test in the toughest road, toughest game as far as this Alabama offense. It's because Kirby loves to shut down the running game. Georgia statistically has done a good job, but you know the argument. Look at the competition. It doesn't matter about the competition because Georgia is still Georgia. They're loaded with five stars. They just haven't played anybody yet to get the season for sure. They're going to find out this weekend. But the converse to that is, guess what? Georgia has not faced an offense like this yet. So that's going to be interesting to see, but it's going to be which defensive line is going to be able to stand up to the test. Here's what's amazing. Just breaking news just moments ago. And we won't know for sure until later on tonight, about 7 o'clock, I think it is, when the availability comes out. One of the reasons that Alabama has done so well, I think by if you took a survey right now by Bonespoke standards, the blocking from this tight end room, and not to catch it, not to speak of that, but the blocking. Josh Ford in the game against Mississippi State, and if you go back and you look at the video, if you've got an astute eye, you saw it in real time. Josh Ford comes out. He plays. He does well. He pops back out. He's got a cast on his arm. The reason he had a cast on his arm, he broke it. He actually broke his arm during the game and came back out, and now he is pestering the coaching staff. Coach, put me in. I want to play, so right now, we don't know again until tonight. These coaches are not going to sit here and take that as the gospel. They've got to go and run it through the medical staff. They're not going to do anything to get them in trouble as far as legalities down the road. But if at all possible, Josh Ford says, Coach, I want to play in this weekend's game. And to me, that's going to be the most interesting strategy, how the respective tight end rooms stack up. Because Georgia, let's face it, up to this, and Brock Bowers, remember that guy? They've got a proud tradition. Georgia's had a lock on the best tight end room over the last few years. But I guarantee you, Alabama fans are pretty pleased with this room. And if it rains, even more so. Because why not just line up 13 personnel? Let those big three tight ends block. Everybody's fussing about EJ Crowell and his past pro learning curve right now. Well, if it's raining, I don't anticipate a lot of passing anyway. So just line it up, let those three big tight ends block and open a path for this Alabama running game. Which, by comparison to last year, light years ahead. So Vegas says it's right now Alabama's favorite. They got them up by a point and a half. We'll see about that. One thing that we know for sure, everybody in Tuscaloosa is saying, what if we don't play this weekend? What happens if the game is postponed? I think that's a reach right now. You've seen all kinds of scenarios popping up all over the place. What about Sunday? I can't see that because they don't want to go up against the NFL. We love college ball here. But across the country, the NFL is still king of the hill as far as TV. And that writes the checks. The other scenario I have seen is a week before the SEC championship game. I can't see the team signing off on that. Unless they have no choice, of course. But I think, again, just to kind of reiterate, if you're joining us right now, they're going to try to wait until probably, I would say, late afternoon tomorrow before they sit here. Because think about all the logistics. If they had to put the brakes on this baby this weekend, it's going to be a nightmare, of course. But the other side of the coin, if you sit here and you green light it and then bad weather comes in, that could be, obviously, a much worse scenario. So, let's kind of, as the old-timers used to say, let's keep our powder dry right now and wait until tomorrow afternoon before we find out what's going to happen there. As we mentioned at the top of the show, it's baseball time as well. The Atlanta Braves last night hoping to get the job done behind their ace. They didn't. They're in the hole. We'll talk about that. We'll talk about the Yankees with a man who's been there. In fact, he's got a World Series ring with the Yankees. And his son now plays David Weathers on deck on the Boomo Bugg Show. Stay with us. Oh, yeah. It's been a huge point of emphasis. I really do believe, and I know that all the receiver group does believe, too. If you can't block as a receiver, man, you shouldn't be out there, honestly. Blocking is a huge key as a receiver. It shows you can do your versatile, and you want your teammates to succeed, too. Like, and running backs, like, because our running backs are so good. Like, they can find – if you can make a block for them, they'll find a hole regardless, and it's a one-on-one with the safety of the corner and touchdown. So, but, yeah, like, blocking's a huge deal. And it's just fun being physical, so, yes, sir. I'll have more in a moment. Hello, Tide fans. This is Chris Stewart for Conecuh Sausage. Conecuh's an Alabama fan favorite we all know and love. We'll have all the reaction from around the MLB playoffs, plus with all the problems in Philly, are the Dallas Cowboys now the favorites in the NFC East? It's on Sportsman 96 AM Eastern, right here on ESPN Radio, ESPN2, and ESPNU. The Score. Now, back with Boomo Bugg on 93.9 The Score. Welcome back in. It is an absolute pleasure. It's rare, as a matter of fact. Not only a pleasure, but rare to be able to talk to somebody who's been there and done that at the highest level of a game called Major League Baseball. But that is the case of the man who spent almost two decades in the MLB world and now has his favorite Yankee playing there in New York, David Weathers. Welcome in. How are you? Good, Harold. How are you today? Man, we're doing all right. Man, what's going through your mind right now? It's October, you're a big football fan, you've got baseball rocking and rolling. In a way, it's kind of like Christmas in October for you tonight, David. Listen, it's a sportsman's dream, and especially when you've got a little stake in the game. It's good. You know, I've been able to make all the playoff games so far, so a lot different than on this side of it, than playing. I can tell you that for sure. David, talk to us about the obviously, Ryan, a tremendous year, and like so many players, let's face it, this is a marathon. I have to tell you this, man, I'm preaching to the choir. I know that. It ain't high school. It is a long journey. Injuries happen. What's the latest with Ryan? He's good. He just had, you know, there at the end of the year, most innings he's had in a while or ever, and so just battling fatigue, and he picked up a butt. The guy bunted on him. He picked it up with all his, you know, had it in the palm of his hand, threw it as hard as he could to get the guy out, and, you know, it just flared something up, and so he wound up missing about four weeks, but he's healthy, and he's already pitched twice in the playoffs, so everything's good. Let's talk a little bit about this series. Obviously, the New York Yankees, if you're just a casual fan, you go and hit you. What? Tampa is two up on the Yanks? First of all, is there a better managed team from the top than Tampa? I mean, who gets more with less than they do with that payroll compared to some of the other teams, but the Yankees on the other side of the coin, Ryan's missing, and a guy by the name of Aaron Judge is missing. How do you break down where things are with the Yankees and the Rays? Let's face it, these ain't kids. You can be down to nothing, but if you're a pro, you've been there and done that before. Oh, yeah, and, you know, the thing is, I remember when we were playing in 96 in the World Series, and the Braves won the first two, and I remember Maddox's interview going to, you know, you've won two, but it takes four for women, and so, you know, that's the theory is, I mean, yeah, you hate to went down to Tampa and really didn't have a shot in the first game. I mean, they had a solo home run was all the difference in the game, but Rasmussen was so good. Probably let some opportunity slip away in game two, but, you know, you're back at Yankee Stadium, and as I told Ryan, I said, there's tougher days than knowing you got Max Fried going today, Rodon tomorrow, and then you're going to choose between Cam Siltler and Garrett Cole. So, you know, they're still fine. I mean, it's not ideal. Obviously, there's no wiggle room, but I think 16 different times this year, they've won three in a row, so it's not like it can't be done. The problem you have is, Harold, Tampa's old school. Yeah. They put the ball on the ground. They move guys over, and they don't strike out with, I mean, evidently, they, I think their run differential might have been like 60-something all year, but what they do is, what they do, they do well, and to me, that's the mark of a great team is, and I think that's the toughest out for New York is, Tampa's not going to walk out there and beat themselves. Like, you're going to have to beat them, and that's why they're so good. That's the first time I've seen them live this year down in Tampa, then in New York in regular season. The bottom line is, they do everything well. They shield it, they catch it, they throw it, and man, they play great. They're one of the best situational teams in the game. Just move them up 90 feet at a time. Here's the bottom line, David, and I got a feeling I know your answer before I ask. I look at the modern game now, and I'm saying to myself, why are they paying money for a manager? Just get a kid out of college over there with an iPad, because it's all analytics. Whatever happened is just using common sense and common talent and having that knack, kind of like Kelly did back in the day with Minnesota and so many other great managers. Your thoughts about the modern game and how much they lean on analytics as opposed to what you said. It's just like football. Just block, tackle, and stop the run. Well, I'll be honest with you. I think that's what they tried to accomplish. It's not only the analytics. Like, you know, you got in-game offensive coach. You've got four different pitching coaches. You've got, here's the thing. All that sounds great, and you're giving guys jobs, but the bottom line is something in sports that will never change. I don't care what sport you're playing. It does not matter. Your eyes do not lie to you. Trust what you're seeing. You know, analytical numbers are really good because it gives you a basis of what somebody, but the majority of the time, I enjoy that. But that's been around for years. You know, you go around in the bullpen. Hey, if you face this guy and there's runners on, he is a different hitter than a guy with no one on. And, you know, you knew those guys, and everybody talked about it. You just didn't quantify it with numbers. Somebody could tell you a piece of paper and I'd say, hey, look at this. Here's the problem. Yeah. And it's a major problem. And you hit the nail on the head. I think 90% of these guys are not managing. I think it's coming from the front office. I think it's coming like this is the lineup we're going to use today because the analytical numbers say this. I've never, ever in my life seen so much situational stuff. And I'm sitting there going, you know, there's times that lefties would rather face a righty as opposed to a lefty because if I face a righty, I have my main pitch is my changeup or something going away from the right-hander. But it might not be coming into the left-hander. I don't even use it because I'm not going to give up power to the full side. Yeah. And it's like nobody even sees that. I'm starting watching the game going, dude, why would you, the guy, he does better against righties. He does lefties. He's like, I don't care what it says. And so those things, Harold, they drive me bananas because I'm like, just because you put David Weathers in the face of righty doesn't mean I'm getting him out. Like, I mean, oh, God, that's the end of the world. It's righty on righty. Why would you do that? I'm like, dude, are you kidding me? There's big league ball players. And so I think those things, let me ask you this, Harold, and I'll reverse the question. If you're a pitcher, all right, and then second and third with a base open, and a manager comes out there or a pitching coach says, hey, listen, Harold, what do you want to do here? Do you want to walk him and put him on and go after the next guy or do you want to go after him? Now, the reason that question is posed to me is because now I can say an oppressor, right? I have butt coverage is what we called it. So, and I told my managers, everyone I had, I said, listen, and Dusty laughed at me. Dusty Baker, I had him in me. I go, Dusty, I promise you, if you don't give me four wide ones, I'm trying to get him out. So, and then you decide, do you want me going after him or do you want me to walk him? And what we see in today's game, Harold, is what? If I do what the numbers say, I'm covered. But if you don't win a World Series, you're just doing that. Yeah, and let's face it, Dave, you guys, you know each other. If you bring, and I think that's been one of the secrets for the Braves, bringing up the kid, Kerr, is that they have no book on him. But by and large, you guys have a book on each other. You know everybody's tendencies. You face each other X number of times over the course of the year. I mean, for the most part, I know in postseason it changes. But for the most part, you guys sit here, you guys can throw it through a coffee can. Reminds me of kids and Russell. I think he's throwing it through a donut hole now. We'll get to that in a second. But you guys know each other. And it just, it sends a message. I might say, depend on you. But the intangibles tonight, are the Yankees, you've been there. But let me make sure we're clear on this. If you're a first time to show, welcome in. I'm talking to a man who has been on the mound for the New York Yankees, who has a world series for the New York Yankees. How does the pressure, and from that standpoint, things change here in the postseason? You just, it's like Ryan and I were talking about the other night. You just really realize for the first time in your life, when coaches talk about every out matters, man, in the postseason, if you went out and got two outs, dude, everybody's dabbing you up. Like, everybody's fired up. Right. Because that's how hard outs are to get. So, number one, every out matters. No one's giving you, like, no one's throwing the towel in. And every A-B is just a grinder. Right. So, you've got to be able to just be able to go out there and just separate, honestly, and slow the game down and say, listen, man, this is baseball. You know, somebody's going to win tonight and somebody's going to lose. Right. What I have to do is execute my game plan. And when you do that, it just simplifies things. Yep. Like Nick. You've got to simplify. And so, and by the way, as a coach, that's the hardest thing to teach kids sometimes is just simplify everything and slow down. Slow the game down. And in the postseason, you know, I've listened to Smoltz, who's had unbelievable postseason numbers, guys that hit, that have great postseasons. And they all say the same thing, is, man, I just got to go up there, relax, and do what I do. Do what I do. And it's a funny way of having, you have a funny way of being able to execute. Yeah. All right. David Debray is going to execute tonight. It's just going to be the end of the road. It's amazing to see, how refreshing is to see a guy who was at 7-Eleven not long ago, worked at a movie theater to pay the bills, going up against a billion-dollar payroll. How refreshing is that? Yeah, your thoughts about that series. Well, and I was really proud for Ray, because Ryan played with Ray two or three years with Ray Kerr out in San Diego in the minor leagues. And so, you know, Ray's got really good stuff. And, man, it was so good to see him go out there and do well. And you know what, though, Harold, what happens is, is you're like, you know, what's the worst thing that can happen out here is I lose my job? Well, I've already done that. I've already had to do other jobs. And so, yeah, that's exactly right. I will survive. And so, man, super proud of Ray Kerr. Kelly and I had to do a double-take of it. And the probable starters, I go, Kelly, they have got Ray down here. She goes, Ray who? Ray Kerr. You know, we followed him. And so, super proud of him. But I think the Braves tonight, you know, they're doing a little bit of what the Yankees are doing. They had a little bit better success in game two. But, man, you just got to, when you have a chance to cash runs in, you've got to find a way. You've got to find a way to get a guy across the board because it's like I told Ryan. You know, ERA, flux weight, wins and losses forever. And it's just like a run. We can talk hypotheticals. When that dude touches home plate, that run is there forever. And you can't take it off the board. And what happens is these guys don't understand how much pressure each run puts on the team. Now I want him to score one to tie you. Now I've got to score two. And so, I think the Braves have got to do that. Yeah. Let's talk about another one of your favorite topics, and that's Alabama football. How good is this kid named Russell? Oh, man, he's, you know, special. A lot of my buddies, we've got a huge thread on Saturdays, and we're watching it. The first couple of Saturdays, you can see some things. You're like, okay, man, you know, we've just got to buckle our chin straps in here. And he's going to make some young mistakes. That's right. He's a kid. But I'll tell you this, man, at Kentucky, he came back, and you're like, wow, that's impressive. I think they're getting him in good positions. And, you know, man, I've never bashed the board on here. I think it's just he is getting his team. That's right. It looks like the Washington, when he was up there, that they got all these explosive players, you know, and they got six or seven of them. Like, you're not relying on one guy. And so I think, man, I think Russell is in good hands as far as, I think, you know, it's not the popular opinion, but I'm a Ryan Grubb guy. I think he's very much knowledgeable of his kids. And I don't know, man, he reminds me of a lot of Bryce Young, same body movement. His maturity at 19 is incredible. And, Dave, you bring up a poem. And the reason I bring it up is, obviously, Nick recruited five stars. When DeBoer came in, he inherited that. And human nature being what it is, let's face it, you go to Hollywood and you get these pretty people marrying each other. It doesn't always work. You can have five star here and a five star there. But it's human nature to sit here and kind of push back. I think the difference now, I'm not saying that happened. I'm saying that can happen. But now DeBoer pretty much across the board, 99.9% of this team, they're his and he recruits personalities. And I thought he brought up a very good point this past week. This is, quote, a low-maintenance team. If you're a baseball manager, a football coach, high school coach, if you've got a bunch of kids who want to perform, like Josh Ford. He broke his arm in a game and just came out moments ago and said, Coach, I dare you to take me out. That's it. Harold, here's the thing that people kind of, and man, we all love Saban. We all know that. Yep. Go back to the Michigan semifinal loss. That was an awful loss. I don't care if Michigan won or not. We had that game won two or three times, and it was the same problems that sometimes what DeBoer had. Saban was not perfect. That Alabama team probably could have won four or five more state national championships, but, you know, that's called sports. And with DeBoer, you're going out there and, like you said, a man recruited what he wants and a football player, well, that's not what DeBoer might have needed. That don't fit my system. And so, you know, I think it's so easy to sit around and judge all that. I'll tell you this, Harold. I will tell you this. How many men would have stepped up and took that job behind somebody? No smart ones. Right. How many guys that were coaching were saying, I really hope I don't get offered this because it did an unbelievable job, but I'm not following him. Well, that tells you a lot about DeBoer. It tells you a lot into his insight. Yeah. So, David, after all said and done, yeah, if they play the game this weekend and right now it's still on, we'll see how the weather folks have this at the end of the day, but who's going to win this ball game whenever they play it? I got to tell you, I've watched Georgia play a little bit and I've watched Alabama every game. Harold, if we show up and don't turn the ball over, they play their best game, we play our best game, we beat them. We're better than they are. But they got Kirby and they got a quarterback that's been around for 16 years and so everybody thinks that they're just like this unbeatable team and they're not. You know, Vanderbilt let that game and get away from them. Vanderbilt pulled that thing with their three points. Yeah. And I don't know, I believe if we play their best and they play their best, I think we walk out there. But now we cannot turn the ball over because that's what they're going to be looking to do. And I do think Russell's going to see some exotic stuff he hasn't seen, but I'm telling you, at the end of the day, it ain't about the X's and O's, brother. It's Jimmy's and Joe's. And no matter what anybody says, we got some good Jimmy's and Joe's. Again, tee it, tee it up. Rain or no rain, let them have the game. Dave, it's always good to hook up with you. Listen, man, send Ryan, the family all our best. Hope a speedy recovery there and all the best for the Yankees tonight and the Braves. I know you got a close eye on all that stuff. By the way, when you get some time this afternoon, send Tommy Battle, the mayor of Huntsville, an email and say, Tommy, we love everything you've done for Huntsville, but fix all the roads. Join the crowd, my friend. If you haven't been to Huntsville in the last five years. It's a challenge. You're in for a challenge. I don't care where you go, but welcome back in. But it could have been worse. You could have had a colonoscopy. Yes, I did last year. Thank you. Yes, take it on the other end, okay? You know, Rodney Orr says, what in the world are you talking about? I know it. I've got to follow that. Rodney is a pattern editor of TatterInsider.com. His book is called Bigger Than Belmer. Rodney Orr, welcome in. How are you? Doing well, guys. How's it going? Hey, Rodney. Now, the question, Rodney, is how's it going down there? We joked earlier, Rodney, maybe owner of the good Lord, and maybe Jane Spann knows what's going to go on this weekend. What are you hearing, the very latest on your eye to the sky this weekend in T-Town? I think they're still, you know, obviously trying to figure it all out. And I think perhaps maybe we'll get a decision today, maybe later on this evening, on exactly what they plan to do, if there's going to be any changes. Because, you know, again, all I'll say is that the last I was told, and it was yesterday before, actually, I guess the statement was put out, that, you know, they were holding tight. They were making plans yesterday to go forward with a 6.30 kickoff. Now, again, it's going to be revisited today and kind of see which direction that they feel like is best to go. And, you know, we'll see what happens. I don't pretend to know. I'm friends with a lot of meteorologists over the years, a dude named Satterfield over in Huntsville, and James Paul Dice, who I worked with. He was a kid when he came to Huntsville, and then went on down to Birmingham, Channel 6, their chief meteorologist down there. And we still touch base with each other. And James Paul, he basically said there's a dirty side to a hurricane. The beast is on the east. And that's the thing about it, Rodney. It depends on where that path is, which side you get the winds and the rains, and more importantly, the tornadoes are right there with it. I won't say more importantly, but certainly with it. And to me, they won't know until those computer models tell them which side Tuscaloosa is going to be on. And so I guess the question is, if they play, we know the answer. But what happens if they can't? What's the alternative? I don't know what they're going to decide to do. I'm sure they have every option on the table. I don't know what it is. I was just told emphatically yesterday that the meeting that they had yesterday just said, listen, plan to move forward with the 6.30 kickoff as scheduled. That's the way we're going to work at it now. There was some talk earlier in the day. I do know this among the emergency people that possibly moving it to 11 a.m. At that time, that was at that time. Okay, that was 24 hours ago or longer. And then yesterday afternoon, they said, you know, they're sticking with the plan for now. So that's really all I know. I don't know if there's going to be any other, you know, options on the table about changing the date or whatever, but it doesn't sound like it at this point. I think that the plan is to move forward, and they're revisiting all of the discussions here this afternoon. Rodney, Kane Womig mentioned on Monday when you met with the media that physicality has become the identity of this football team, and I got amused this morning. Kenlyn DeBoer was on the coach's conference call, and he mentioned Josh Ford, Alabama's tight end transfer from Arkansas State, had broken his arm, and Ford said, look, just put a cast on it and let me play. I'm telling you, that's the kind of guy, that's Rodney Orr. They get hurt, put a cast on it or a club, and let's go. Yeah, right. He might be an old raider. Yeah, that's right. That's right. You know, yeah, so we were told that he had broken a bone in his arm and that he had surgery on Sunday and got a text yesterday. Yeah, got a text yesterday. Well, Monday, the text was, well, probably out two to three weeks, and then yesterday we got a text that he actually, on Monday, after having the surgery on Sunday, did 25 push-ups. Tough dude. No kidding. Tough dude. So we'll see if he plays or not. I know that he really wants to. But, yeah, that's that kind of mentality that he brings. Rodney Orr, tight end saturday.com. Before we ask the obvious question about this weekend, Rodney, it basically got roughly half of this regular season over with. Where's this team relative to your expectations coming into the season? Probably ahead. And I'd say a lot of that's because of Keelan Russell. I mean, we knew he was a great player. But, I mean, the fact that, you know, the way he's taken off in the last, what, two and a half games has been pretty phenomenal. I think he started a little slower than I expected. But he really kind of ignited. And so I would say probably a little ahead. Now I say all that to say it's not that I expect them to play for the national championship right now. It's not where I'm putting them. I'm saying this is a team that can be a contender. We thought they could be. And now we're seeing that they certainly can be, in my opinion. I do think, and this is me, I mean, the defense, the first couple of games carried them through the Kentucky game. And since then, I just see some of the same things. I mean, I think they're better. They're a lot better in a lot of ways. I think, you know, obviously they've got some really good young players like Xavier Griffin that are coming around. They've got a lot of depth. I do think, though, the one thing that kind of you look at and you say, man, I think there's some, if you get a quarterback that can make those throws and go down the field, they look to give up those big plays sometimes. And that was what I was warned about after the scrimmages was, you know, and the things that people were seeing in practices was they could be vulnerable down the field. So we'll see. But otherwise, I would say overall, now I think they're ahead of where I would have expected them to be because, you know, guys, I mean, again, I don't know that I've seen any other team that's better. I'm not saying they're the best team, but I think they're right there with the best team. Yeah. Yeah. Rodney, you'll talk about this a little bit later on Tudor and Satter during the week, but what is the Rodney Orr keys for Alabama to beat Georgia? Well, first of all, any time you play Georgia, I think you've got to be, you've got to match their physical toughness, relentlessness, and all of those things. And I don't think you can lose the turnover battle either. I mean, I think those are pretty basic things because Kirby Smart's teams are first and foremost, they're tough and they're fundamentally sound. And if you're not, eventually it's going to catch up with you. So, you know, I mean, I think Alabama will have some opportunities. Again, as high as I am on Georgia and the coaching that Kirby does, especially on the defensive side and as good as they are, I think there's opportunities to throw the football against Kirby Smart's defenses, I think, make big plays. And I think Keelan Russell's the kind of quarterback that everybody hates to play against, and I know Kirby does. I mean, it's a little bit like Bryce Young going against them. But, you know, so I think there's going to be some big plays there for Keelan Russell to make. On the flip side of that, I know Kirby's going to show him some things that he probably hasn't seen. They're going to come after him. They're going to try to knock him around, you know, beat him up a little bit, and, you know, see how he responds to it. So, again, I think it's the basic things in this game. These are two really good teams, and I think it's going to come down to the basics in terms of which one separates himself. And let's face it, if you face a team by Kirby, you know what he's going to try to do. He's going to try to run it down your throat. Your thoughts about how Alabama matches up. I agree with you. The second year is a little more vulnerable if you look at the stats. And the other side of that coin is I know that Russell's getting it out of love, but Gunnar Stockton quietly has stats right there with Keelan. He just does his job. It's not flashy, but he's been there. He's done that. And the thing that's the difference between the two, Keelan can throw it through a coffee can 30 yards plus down the field. Basically, Stockton likes to go the short game. He'll nickel and dime you to death. It's not flashy, but it's effective more times than not. Exactly. He's very efficient. He's got 13 touchdown passes, only one interception. Right. 75% of his passes. He's also a sneaky scrambler. You know, he can pick up yards, clutch yards on the ground. He's a clutch player, I think. And the experience is certainly very huge, in my opinion. He's been in a lot of these battles. He's a typical Kirby smart guy. I'm not saying he's just like Fromm or just like Stetson Bennett, but he's in that mold in terms of the efficiency. So, you know, he's really good. And you know what? He's surprisingly, he can make throws down the field. He made a couple against Vanderbilt that were very impressive. He dropped some dimes. So, yeah, I mean, he's going to be a challenge to defend. And I think they're probably not as explosive, maybe, as some teams. You know, they're outside receivers. People talk about that. But they're really good. They're solid. They're consistent. Taylon Taylor. And, you know, I know they have the Craig Dandridge kid that's really good that's having a good year. Of course, like you said, they run the football. They didn't run it really well in the first half against Vanderbilt. I think they only had 20 yards. But they do rush for about 213 a game. I know Nate Frazier, their key back, has been banged up a little bit. They held him out for the most part in that Vanderbilt game. But they're deep there. I mean, Chauncey Bowens had a big game against Alabama last year. Dwight Phillips is a really multiple guy that is a real weapon, kind of like a Swiss Army knife. You know, he can run it. He can catch it. He can just be a pain in the rear. And, you know, they've always got a tight end or two. I know they've got a couple over there now. Lawson Lucky is really good. And they've got the other guy, Lice Williams, I think is, you know, a big, tall kid, very effective. So, you know, they're Georgia. I mean, that's what they are. They're pretty much going to be what we've seen the last 10 years, I think. Rodney, we talked about this subject yesterday, but Dennis Franchoni, Alabama's former football coach from 2001 to 2002, passed away yesterday. I always enjoy promoting your book, Bigger Than Bama, and you've got several chapters about your relationship with him and his staff. As I mentioned to you yesterday, I always thought he was an enigma. He was a very good football coach. Anywhere he went, he won. A lot of Alabama fans would never forgive him for leaving and going to Texas A&M, recruiting restrictions. I know he didn't even like the carpet on the floor, and I think you've mentioned that. But Dennis Franchoni was an interesting guy, wasn't he? He really was. You know, he really was. I thought Coach Franchoni was a great coach. I really did. I thought he could have been here at Alabama. You know, all the players were bought in, at least most of them were bought in. I think the fandom was certainly bought in with him, and I don't think he totally understood that. And, you know, like you said, I did tell him some things in the book that I wrote bigger than Bama, you know, some conversations that I had with Coach Fran. You know, I had a sneaky suspicion that if Texas or Texas A&M came open, that he would, and if they came after him, that he would be gone. And I talked to him about that, actually, the summer before he left. And I kind of relate that in the book. And, you know, so, but I just think that, you know, Fran really struggled with the scrutiny here at Alabama. You know, I mean, it was, I think it made him uncomfortable, you know, just the constant 24-7, 365-day fishbowl that he lived in. Yeah, absolutely. A great reason to buy the book, Rodney. Where can we get online and get the book? And then the 24-7 message board, interviews with coaches, players, commentary. Where can we get on and get it for a very nominal price? Right. There were 13 domestic violent cases that turned into homicides out of the 41 homicides that occurred in Montgomery this year. I'm Harold Bugg alongside Brett Beaird. Thank you so much for giving us a free ride around the Tennessee Valley. And for AA, taking time out of a busy schedule there at ESPN, Andrea Adelson. Welcome in. How are you? I'm doing great, fellas. How are y'all doing? Hey, dear. Are you preparing for a storm? Well, here's the deal. I'm proud you brought that up, Andrea. You are the business humans on the face of the sports world. You bounce all over the place. So, I know you can't keep up with everything. So, let me plug you in. There is a pretty big, according to what we're understanding, a pretty big football game this weekend in Tuscaloosa. That's in the western part of the state. You've got the President of the United States coming in. You've got a hurricane I can't pronounce coming in. And game day from its network called ESPN coming in. What is the latest when the mothers show up in Andrea? If they cannot do it in Tuscaloosa, can they do it from your home in sunny Orlando? I hope it's going to be sunny, fellas. You know how the bands of these storms work sometimes. We all get rained on. I'm hoping for the best for you guys. You all know how much I pay attention to these things as a Floridian, how many times I have had to deal with games being canceled or rescheduled, whatever the game may be, because of a hurricane, how many of those I've had to live through. So hopefully it's not as bad as what it seems like it will be, because honestly, fellas, I can't imagine that they would play a game if there's going to be, you know, 55 potential mile-an-hour winds coming through Tuscaloosa. And tornadoes. That's right. They're hard to predict. I mean, you remember a couple years ago, they called off a Florida game because they thought a storm was coming, and then nothing happened, and it was a beautifully sunny day in Gainesville. That's the hard thing about making these sorts of decisions, because you have to do them with enough time to make sure that everyone is safe. But oftentimes, as you guys know, these storms are very unpredictable, and anything can happen. Let me ask you this, Andrea. Yes. Yeah, I'm sorry. Let me ask you this. Obviously, ESPN, anyone who's working television knows TV is not as simple as what you see on TV. It takes literally an army to put everything together. It ain't as simple as saying, oh, by golly, the weather's going to be bad. Let's just drop our plans here. What goes into the—right now, there's a lot of stress in the war room of coming up with plan B and C, just in case. Let's just say that there is a threat. Do they go inside the Coleman Coliseum? Do they go to Nick Saban's house? And if they can't have it, what goes into the thinking from an ESPN standpoint? I love your idea of going to Coach Saban's house. Yeah. They did it from Lee Corso's house during COVID, right? He was at his house, remote. But in all seriousness, look, there are hundreds of crew that are in charge of just putting the set together. And it's not just the desk. You have the lights. You have the cables. You have the electrical. You have the trucks that beam everything up to the—that it can be shown on TV, right? You've got everything that is set up to make it a safe environment for fans to come in in attendance, right? So it's not just the five people who are sitting at the desk. There's so much more involved. And all these trucks are driving week to week to new places to be able to set it up. The setup just doesn't happen. And waving a magic wand and snapping your fingers and boom, we're all set up. So as far as contingency plans goes, you know, I am not in a loop on that as someone who is here in Orlando just trying to work on writing some stories and things. I'm sure ESPN has kind of gone through all of that, right? Yeah, exactly. Leave me out of it, guys. Right. I'm sure there's lots of contingency plans for what could potentially happen. And of course, you know, we are with ABC News. So I'm sure the meteorologists at ABC are keeping us informed of what those forecasts look like and what the latest is there. And it's Wednesday, so there's still a little bit of time. But fellas, that's not a whole lot of time because you're probably going to want to have to make a decision about this, you know, within 36 hours of kickoff. So, you know, we'll see what happens. But I do believe it's in everyone's best interest to and to continue monitoring the situation because we don't want to put anyone in harm's way or cause any sort of safety issues for fans, players, obviously, anybody involved in putting this game together. Double A, your thoughts on the game itself. Kane Womack yesterday or Monday mentioned physicality is the theme of this Alabama team this year, and they've certainly looked better with that. Your thoughts on the annual grudge with Alabama and Georgia? Yeah, I mean, obviously, when you're playing a team like Georgia, the physicality has to be on the next level. It has to be even more physical than what you've already done because you know what Georgia is bringing to the table. I do feel like Alabama has been a little bit more battle-tested than Georgia has up until this point in the season. I wouldn't consider beating Oklahoma and Vanderbilt and going on the road to play Arkansas as battle-tested as having to go to Mississippi State, obviously playing Florida State at home. A much improved Florida State team. I know Florida State beat them last year. But that was a game that Alabama had to fight back to win. And we've seen how much better this offense has gotten week-to-week, fellas. We've seen the growth of Keelan Russell. But obviously, this is going to be the biggest test they will face from Georgia's defense. So I'm fascinated to see how Alabama will fare in terms of establishing the run and trying to get that part of their offense settled against a Georgia defense that looks as ferocious as ever, looks better than it did a year ago. And again, they haven't played anyone as good as Alabama yet. But certainly, when you talk about physicality, you know that's what that defense is going to come with. And you're full of five stars up the middle if you try to establish that running game. That's going to be something to keep an eye on. So, Andrew Adelson, the ESPN. Let me get this straight, if I can recall correctly. Ole Miss beats LSU. Florida beats Ole Miss. Kentucky beats Florida. Talk to me about the SEC scramble race and about your beloved Gators. Look, I knew after the Ole Miss game that Florida was going to lose. Columbia has been a house of words for the Gators going back however many years. I think we talked about it last week. I knew that they were going to be in for trouble. And I knew, right, if some team could tackle Jaden Baugh, that there'd be problems for Florida. And obviously, they didn't have VB3 in this game. So, the offense was limited without VB3 and obviously without Jaden Baugh being at his best. And defensively, right, this isn't a group that is on par with Georgia. I mean, this is a defense that has had issues throughout the course of the season in terms of giving up big explosive plays. Quite frankly, I was surprised that Ole Miss did not take more of an advantage on that Florida secondary in that game. You know, Ole Miss came out trying to establish the run without Kiwan Lacy. And I'm like, I don't understand what's happening. You should be attacking the DBs. And so, I just thought Mizzou had a terrific game plan for Florida. And Florida just wasn't prepared for it. And that is the end result. But, you know, this is like, you know, as the SEC turns, right? Just when you think you have things figured out in this conference, something happens. And you're like, wait, hold on. I didn't expect that, right? Like you mentioned Kentucky. What's happened to A&M the last few weeks, right? South Carolina not being as good as we thought they maybe could be at the beginning of the year. You know, that's another team there. Shane Beamer now looks like he's on the hot seat. So, yeah, it's been fun to watch because it feels like it's just been a tiny bit more unpredictable, kind of in that second tier of teams beyond where Alabama, Texas, and Georgia are right now. And who knows, right? Florida's got Texas in a few weeks. We'll see what happens in that game. But it certainly feels as if there's a lot of teams in the conference this year that can kind of beat anyone. And I put Florida in there in the mix as well. So, it should be a fun, you know, final, what, eight weeks of the season to see who ends up in the SEC championship game. Double A, who's the best team in the country right now? Texas, Georgia, Notre Dame, Miami. I don't think it's Ohio State. Their defense is nowhere near where it was last year. But between a Texas, Georgia, and Notre Dame in Miami. Why are you putting me on the hot seat? Well, you're used to this. You can handle this. I can handle it. I can handle it. All right. There you go. This is what I'm going to say to you fellas, all right? I think my opinion of who is the best team in the country is based off of who has played the best schedule. Thank you. And, therefore, that makes them the best team. So, I have Texas number one right now because I think they have played the best schedule. Who is playing the best would be Georgia, in my opinion, because of the way they have handled every single team on the schedule. They've played, I think, a better schedule than Notre Dame and Miami up until this point. Miami really, and Clemson was the first, like, I'm using this in air quotes, guys, good team. That Miami has played, they're not good, but, you know, going on the road to play at Death Valley, it's a place Miami, you know, got blown out the last time they played there. That's a good win for Miami. They had to go on the road and do that and dominate the way that they did. But I don't think their schedule just yet matches up to what Georgia has played and what Texas has played. And because I think Texas has the best win, I have Texas number one in my top 25 this week. Andrew, obviously, the only one that matters is to hear a few weeks when the big poll comes out. Did the AP send a message to the committee with what happened over the past weekend? They leapfrogged Alabama over Indiana. Are they sending a message? I mean, you look at that schedule, and they need to bring in Perry Mason and Matlock to arrest them for that schedule at Indiana. Look, I have a lot of issues with the AP poll in terms of the way some voters have decided to use their privileges this year as it relates to a few teams and not ranking some others from the ACC, for example. I think Miami is, like, not in the top 10 on multiple ballots, which doesn't make any sense to me. But in this respect, they have it right. And I have had Indiana on my top. So I do one for ESPN. I don't do one for the AP. But every week I've got to do one for ESPN for our power rankings that come out every Monday. It's a compilation of all of our votes on staff on ESPN.com. I have had Indiana towards the bottom of my top 10 for the reason you mentioned. The schedule is terrible. They struggled in a few games. I think they've taken a step back on offense in terms of quarterback. And so, therefore, I don't value what they have done in the same way that I value what Alabama has done. And we already just talked about the strength of schedule they have played to date. And, yes, it looked a little bit, you know, inconsistent early on in the season, right, against Kentucky, against Florida State. That's fine. But then they came back and they turned it on and they won big. And, obviously, the performance last week, how can you even argue with what they did against Mississippi State? So, in my view, Alabama should have already been ranked ahead of Indiana. I had them ranked ahead of them, I think, for most of this season. And my approach to this is I try to approach it like the selection committee. And the selection committee, as many flaws as people think that they have, and we could have a whole other conversation about that, what I do agree with is they really do try and weigh what they believe is the strength of schedule for every single team. We may disagree on what we think of that strength of schedule, right? But it's very clear that Alabama's strength of schedule is way better than Indiana. And Indiana is never going to play a hard non-conference game, guys, right? So that automatically should kind of, like, disqualify them in terms of what some of those early rankings look like. So, when I approach it, I try and say, who have they played, who have they beaten? It's kind of like the Texas example I just gave. And, therefore, I have dropped Indiana in my poll because I just haven't been impressed with them or who they've played. Northwestern could have beat Indiana at double-A. In fact, Northwestern boat raced Penn State in that brand-new stadium, $875 million stadium last week. Always enjoy the conversation, my dear. Tell us what game you're covering this weekend, and where can we get online to get your great stuff and the teams? I'm home this weekend, fellas, but I will be back on the road next week for Florida State traveling to play Miami. I'm always at that game every single year. But coming up next week, folks can tune in to a 10-year anniversary story I have on Lamar Jackson winning the Heisman and his famous Lamar Leap. I can't believe it's been 10 years on that. And, of course, you can catch us on ACC Network for our show, Inside Access. We've got Ashton Daniels had five touchdowns last week against Virginia. He's going to be our guest. So, 4 o'clock Central on the ACC Network tomorrow. Enjoy the off weekend. And safe travels the following weekend, but send us some of that sun and fire this way this weekend. Okay, Andrea? All right. I'll do my best, fellas. All right, dear. Hold you to it. Double A from ESPN, Andrea Adelson. Coming up, follow over the SEC with Jim Gomm on deck on the Boomo Bugg Show. Stay with us. Join us this fall on Wednesday nights for Hey Coach and the Kalen DeBoer Show, presented by Alpha Insurance, live from Baumhauer's Victory Grill in Tuscaloosa. The show starts at 6 p.m., and you don't want to miss it. The Score. Now, back with Boomo Bugg on 93.9 The Score. Welcome back in, and you don't want to miss the man who's at the center of the blitz, Jim Gomm. He's the owner and editor of theblitzsports.com and the fine author of Conference Pride. Jim, welcome in. How are you? I'm good. How are you guys? Hey, bud. Trying to come up with a B plan. What do you do if a hurricane's bearing down on you, Jim? And you've got a pretty big ball game. What's the B plan here, Jim? Yeah, that is so ironic, and I was just looking. I was just reading all the things out there. I mean, obviously, you don't want to put the fans at risk, and you don't want the players or anyone to be at risk, but I'm just hoping that somehow, some way, they can get this game in. I don't know if they can move the time. Hopefully, they don't have to postpone it. But, you know, it is a situation when, you know, you live in the south, and we know that hurricanes are, they happen. They happen, you know. So, from time to time, it does disrupt games and whatnot. But, man, you know, Georgia, Alabama, and usually these things happen in, you know, like early September, maybe up to mid-September, but this is already October. So, yeah, I didn't see this coming, man. No. Well, speaking of living, you live in an instant place, Jim, Chattanooga, which means you are about a good five-iron or two-iron from Alabama and a good two-iron from Georgia. You're sitting basically on top of the border there. Your thoughts, just from your objective seat, how do you see it? Let's face it. Let's assume the game does go on. How do you see it, Jim? You know what, if you'd have asked me this a week ago, I'd have said, I like Georgia, you know. And if the game was being played this weekend in Athens, I probably would say I like Georgia. But after watching Alabama just dismantle Mississippi State and Keelan Russell looking how he looked, the fact that it's in Tuscaloosa, I like Alabama. Honestly, I do believe it's going to be a fantastic game, either way, no matter where the game's played. But I just, there's something about this Alabama team. I'm buying into them. I know that, you know, if you watch the first half of that Kentucky game, you're like, boy, can Alabama, I just don't know. But ever since that second half, it just seems like they've just seen what they're capable of doing. And I just, I'm just, I've bought into Alabama. So I like the Crimson Tide this weekend. Jim, I think a lot of people are beginning to buy into Kentucky. They came back and beat South Carolina. South Carolina lost another 17-point lead, which South Carolina fans are not happy about that. Will Stein's come in there, made a real difference. LSU's a 10-and-a-half-point favorite going to Lansing 10. Jim, I think LSU wins, but I honestly think this is going to be a fairly close game. Yeah, I think what Will Stein is doing at Kentucky is, I'm not going to say Kurt Signetti-ish, but it's in that ballpark. He's done a great job there. They've got a really solid quarterback, and the defense is playing much better than I thought they'd be able to play. No, I think Kentucky and LSU is going to be a fun game. Like you said, I do think the LSU's roster is just too deep for them. But I don't think it's going to be an absolute one-sided blowout. Now, it may get maybe a two-touchdown score by the end of the game, but I think Kentucky can play with them for at least a half. No, it is interesting to watch some of these new coaches and the job they're doing. Of course, you know, Florida's having a resurrection under summer also. It's fun to watch these new coaches and how the teams are responding to them. Jim Gomm, he's busy there at theblitzsports.com. Jim, let's talk about a couple of things. One of our neighbors down here in this state called the Auburn Tigers and your neighbors to the north on I-75 there in Tennessee. Where do you start breaking down the class between the two this past weekend? And who is the QB at UT? Well, from all the reports that I've been hearing, it's like George McIntyre is going to get the start in Fayetteville. And he deserves it. I mean, he outplayed Faison Brandon. Listen, I don't believe Faison Brandon is 100% right now. I think he got hurt that Texas game. I don't think he was 100% going into last Saturday's game against Auburn. And they made the good decision to take him out and put McIntyre in. Listen, as long as they've got a running attack there at Tennessee, and they do have a good running attack, they can play. They can play with most teams. But you can't be one-dimensional. They're going to have to be able to. And listen, Alabama's coming in a week from this Saturday. But I think they're going to be able to win this coming weekend against the Arkansas Razorbacks. But they're going to have to find a passing attack when they play better teams. But I do think the decision to play McIntyre is the right call at this point. I agree with you. Jim, you did yourself with the blitz this week. Biggest games by conference, you do that every week. Football tidbits, I always enjoy. Every school's milestone, Associated Press ranking from 1936 to 2026. Where did the preseason number one team finish in the polls? Time to say hello to Double D. Drew Jarman is host of Talking Ball and Hustle's 97.7 FM The Zone. Drew, welcome in. How's your Wednesday going? It's going pretty well, especially if I'm looking at you to get a hit. Man, I tell you what, they're going to bend on it big time tonight. Maybe you can get back into the lineup. Stay tuned for that. But, Drew, obviously we've got that game for you on 93.9 The Score. We've got a pretty big football game this weekend between Alabama and Georgia. But first things first, let's put on our James Spann hat and talk about what you're hearing as far as the White Elps as far as the weather is concerned this weekend. Well, I mean, I think, first of all, right now if things don't change and very likely they may change yet again, but it looks like the majority of the rain and the severe weather will be through Tuscaloosa before the game. It kind of reminds me, and it was pointed out on Talking Ball this morning by one of our listeners, Richard Edwards, that if people remember in 2015 for one of those games of the century with LSU and when Leonard Fournette was considered the Heisman Trophy winner until that week was over and someone named Derrick Henry took the lead, it rained all day before that game. And it was a very, very wet track. But it rained well, and they had the football game that went off without a pitch. It didn't affect the crowd at all. And hopefully the same situation is going to happen on Saturday. You know, about this time last week, people were worried about a flood run us over in Starkville, and the only flood was a crimson one that washed out the maroon and white. So we will see, but certainly the weather could be a factor. And it's one thing we haven't seen with this group offensively at Alabama is weather conditions and how it would affect, you know, a guy like Keelan Russell who hasn't had to play in that kind of situation. But certainly it will be monitored, and I still think the game is going to be played on Saturday. I don't think it will be moved to another location or another time. And they're just going to, I think, you know, deal with the situation. I think the only thing that could give people real trepidation is tornado chances. And if that were the case, then Brett and I might be going through another Alabama-Florida state and we might not get home until 7 o'clock. You got that right. You might see Toto fly. Let me give you some updated numbers here, okay? Just the same changes by the minutes. Saturday, this is from the National Weather Service. If you go by some of the locals, sometimes they get ahead of themselves. This is probably, back in the day, I knew some of these guys, and this is the foundation for their forecast is the NOAA. Saturday, Saturday is a 90% chance of rain. Saturday night, that started out at 90. It's down to 40% now. Again, for whatever that's worth, we're not saying it is or it's not, but take that with a grain of salt. That's been decreased by almost half since the last time I checked, not too long ago, Drew. Yeah, I just think, once again, hopefully, and again, we're praying for the people in Mobile because it does look like it's going to come straight through there. But hopefully, this is not going to be a dire situation for the city of Tuscaloosa. You want this to be a football game that's not affected by the weather. It's two heavyweights playing each other. It's Ollie Frazier, and it's usually been the case since Kirby Smart went to Athens, Georgia in 2016. So, it'll be the 10th meeting already, which is really pretty amazing, considering Kirby's only been there a little over a decade now. Right. But it's kind of taken the place of Alabama-LSU as the preeminent matchup in the SEC. Now, Lane Kiffin may have something to say about that at LSU, though I hope not. But, again, you know, I'm looking forward to the game. I think Georgia's played exceptionally well. I don't think they've played a great schedule, but they certainly have clubbed everybody they've played. It'll be the best front seven Alabama has seen and be a real test for this offensive line. I do think they beat a good Kentucky team soundly. They certainly beat a good Mississippi State team, but this is a different animal. I'm looking forward to seeing how Keelan Russell and this offense and how this improved Alabama front seven matches up against a heavyweight like Georgia. D2, I mentioned this on Twitter a couple weeks ago with Michael Sutherland. I remember distinctly when my family and I, and Harold probably covered this game, we sent through a tornado warning with Alabama and Auburn. Ray Perkins' first year, and I knew whoever had the lead going in the fourth quarter was going to win that game. But Simpson Pepper, he was the principal at one of the Birmingham schools. He comes over to the PA and said, ladies and gentlemen, attention, we have a tornado warning. My dad turned to me and said, well, what are we going to do? And I just simply said, well, Dad, where are we going to go? So we just literally sat in the stands and a frog strangler started about five minutes later. I remember another one in 93 for the Florida-Alabama game for the SEC championship. But I'm not trying to make light of Saturday, but yeah, you used to sit through stuff like this in the past. D2, let me ask you about the offensive line. This is a line of scrimmage game. Will Sanders be at left guard and Miller be at right tackle against the Dawgs? Well, we'll see. I think the injury report is going to kind of play that out. I do think with Tyrell Miller's performance against Mississippi State, though, it's a different level of D-line. He'd have to block against Georgia. I do think at least you have confidence he can play in a big game, in a big-time environment. You would hope and be optimistic that Javon James could play, but at least you have another option. And it's so funny. In Alabama's two biggest wins of the year, arguably, Kentucky and Mississippi State, they haven't had their usual five. They had William Sanders, Mal Laundrup in Lexington, and then Tyrell Miller was in place of Javon James in Starkville. So they've got at least seven guys I think they feel like they can play on their O-line. And then you hope that it's the five that they'd like to have healthy out there, which, of course, would be, you know, Jackson Lloyd, who's played at a great level, William Sanders at left guard, Racine Delgati, Carroll, who I thought played great against Mississippi State, and certainly have Javon back. But if not, they've got other guys that can play. It's kind of like the injury situation that people were sitting on and waiting for Catelyn DeBoer to go public with it this afternoon, and that was Josh Ford. Josh Ford broke his hand-slash-arm in the game last week. He wasn't known until later this week. He had surgery. But he's a little bit like a guy that I always reference from one of my favorite movie, you know, trilogies or whatever you want to say. I believe in that lethal weapon. He's a little bit like Riggs. He's a little different. Yes. I've even heard he's already, after having this procedure, he's already tried to do some push-ups. He would like to cast up and play. Exactly. Josh Ford plays. But luckily, with Richard Owens there, they've developed five tight ends, and Danny Lewis, Jay Lindsey's done a nice job. And then you've been seeing what Marshall Pritchett's doing, and then also, of course, Caleb Edwards. So, they have some depth there if Josh Ford can't go. Crying. There's no crying in football, says Josh Ford. Drew, let's talk about that, because to me, that's going to be one of the X factors in this game. You can elaborate on more. But the respective tight end rooms. I mean, Georgia's been tight end U over the last few years. Alabama, I think right now, they're very happy with their room. Your thoughts, and let's face it, Crowell's trying to work his way in. And if the weather is bad, why not just put three of those big tight ends out there and say, we're not going to worry about pass pro. We're just going to run it down your throat and try to with Crowell. Your thoughts about the influence on both sides with the respective tight ends? Well, I mean, I think I never would have thought this even back in July, but I would take Alabama's tight end room over Georgia. Right. Oh, yes. I mean, who would have thought that? I mean, I do think Lawson Lucky is a h*** of a player, and they have some young depth behind them. The pro throw kid's probably going to be a great player in the future. But I think Alabama's got an even deeper tight end room, or at least as deep, in Georgia. So I think, and they've certainly just shown the physicality. And they're going to get tested, because, you know, I always in these kind of games like to quote Jack Dawson, they're going to check your oil. Yep. Twice, absolutely. Georgia's not going to, you know, they're not going to change what they do. And they're going to come out, and they're going to try to punch you. So they're going to think, they're going to check your physicality. So Alabama has to be ready for it. And I think if, and it comes down to the same factors. I think whoever can run the football the best is going to win the game. And I think, you know, the plus minus, the turnover ratio will play a big, big factor. And Alabama, when they won the game last year in Athens, they dominated time of possession. They've got to do that again. And then you've got to make them kick field goals every now and then. You've got to stand on your head in the red zone and make some stops, which they had to last week, you know, against Mississippi State. And I thought a big turning point in that game was when they made Mississippi State kick at the end of the half instead of giving up the touchdown. So it's going to be an old school type football game. But I do think if Alabama can do those things and then, and they held up and protected Ty Simpson for the most part in the first game last year. If they can protect Keelan Russell, he can make some big plays to beat Georgia. I respect the h*** out of Gunnar Stockton, but I think the best player is in Crimson, and that's Keelan Russell. And if they can keep him upright for most of that football game, I think he can make the plays to win it. Absolutely. I had a doctor's appointment. I told Harold, it is a challenge now to get in and out of Huntsville. I was listening to you and Scott talking with Brandon Drum, who follows Oklahoma. He's been on our show with Red River and all the issues that Oklahoma's got, and particularly on the offensive line. James Clemens at Spartan, but maybe one of the best games in North Alabama on Friday night. D2, where can we get online and listen to your show? Well, they can follow us at 9770SPN.com, and they can connect with me at DrewD9770SPN or our station at 9770SPN on X. Certainly, we have WCZN TV as well, where they can watch all our content live or go back and watch our shows if they want to see my face made for radio. But certainly, we have a lot of fun on Talking Ball. We've had a lot of fun this week. We are also going to be on Saturday out at the Hyundai of Decatur for a 10 to noon show. And so we look forward to that as we continue to hype up Preview, Bama, Georgia. And then, of course, we want we look at some of the other matchups like that Oklahoma-Texas matchup. Can OU, and you know, Brandon made a great point today, this year it's totally flipped. Last year, Texas was desperate, coming in to beat Oklahoma. This year, it's Oklahoma coming in trying to beat big, bad Texas. And can the Sooners defense, special teams, can they find a way to beat a Texas team? But really, I don't think it's played like the number one team in the country except for that fourth quarter against Ohio State. So it's going to be a really interesting Saturday, no doubt about it. Stay safe and dry as you can, Drew, and thanks for your time today. Thank you. Thank you guys for having me. All right, buddy. Good job, and John, 877 FM, this is on BB. Quickly, the lineup here on 93.9, the score. A quick reminder, Braves, Dodgers, 350, heard it right, the pregame, 505 first pitch. Hey, coach, we'll broadcast this entirely following the game. And then the Brewers, Padres, join in progress. And in case you missed it, the updated forecast, Saturday, 90% chance of riding in Tuscaloosa. Saturday night, down to 40%. How will that change by tomorrow, Brett Beaird? Well, we're going to see, Harold. I know a lot of people looking at it, but we know one thing's for sure. It's do or die for the Braves tonight. Malley is on the mound. Yamamoto, and it's not Tojo. It's that other Yamamoto, struck out 10 Braves. Yeah. Harold, they've got to get batters one through three doing something. They had an opportunity in the fifth inning to break that game open a little bit and couldn't take advantage of it, and Chris Sale didn't have his best game, but got to do it tonight. You can, of course, again, as you mentioned here, that game on 93.9, the score. And if they do, they'll go west, young man, and wrap things up in L.A. for better or worse. Again, catch it right here on 93.9, the score, later on this afternoon. It's going to take care of business for now. On behalf of B.B., Greg James Blair, the entire crew here, Harold Bugg, thank you so much for your time today. Let's do it again tomorrow, noon to two for the Boom Old Bug Show, back here on Sports Radio 93.9, the score.
