Appreciate the hospitality of Muscle Shoals helping me out tonight. Got us a nice table set up. Coach Neal Barker, the head coach of the Trojans, helping me out on that. We're in the corner, and we are right in front of, and when I say right in front of, I mean immediately in front of the Florence student section. It is going to be loud. It is going to be proud. It is going to be high school basketball at its very best tonight, so we're looking forward to it. Both teams out warming up right now. Should be a good one. Muscle Shoals in this game. 13-6 on the season. They actually have won 11 of their last 12 have the Trojans, so they've been on a hot streak. Meanwhile, Florence coming into this game, 8-17 on the year, but 9 or 10 of their losses have been in five points or less. They have been in a lot of games that were extremely close and ended up didn't win them, but they have won some big games. They've knocked off a couple of ranked teams, so it should be a good matchup. These two teams met earlier in the season in Florence back on December 2nd, and on December 2nd, Florence won that one by a score of 76-66 at the Coffee Gym. Both teams out here warming up now. Should be a good one. You're listening to the TNT Fireworks pregame show. We're back in one minute. Imagine a bank where you feel at home. Back here at Muscle Shoals High School, the TNT Fireworks pregame show, Florence Falcons basketball continues before a packed house of Falcon fans and Trojan fans. We are sitting right in front of the Florence student section, so I'm getting to know them up close and personal. Blake's handbag's been over here giving me high fives tonight, so he's happy about this one. He's leading the cheers, former Falcons football player here. So it's going to be a lot of fun. The Falcon cheerleaders also got everybody in their role tonight. The boys' games were outstanding earlier today. The J.B. game was a classic for J.B. basketball. I don't usually talk about it. The Florence's junior varsity, which is comprised this year, I think, of a lot of ninth graders and underclassmen even. Tenth graders, maybe even some younger than that have moved up. They were down by 20 to Muscle Shoals and made a furious fourth quarter game at 65-63. And Coach Corey Hughes, the assistant coach for Florence who coaches the J.B. team, had that team believe in it, and they made a furious comeback. And a pretty special night. One of the kids has been through a tough, tough day, we understand, and played throughout the game with a heavy heart. And so it was a pretty special night, one of those sports moments. So congratulations, Florence, for that. The Lady Falcons lost to Muscle Shoals. It was a three-point game with about two minutes to go. The Muscle Shoals hit free throws down the stretch, and the Trojans win it. Both teams warming up here tonight. Florence led by Jayceon Payne, who averages double figures, right at 14 to 15 points a game is Payne. The catalyst for the team, the point guard, Jayceon Pearson. 5'9", senior, outstanding. I started looking back in my notes, and I may be wrong on this, but I would say the majority of his three seasons at Florence, he has started every game. That tells you a lot about this young man. Been starting many years since as a sophomore and also as a senior. So it's been interesting to see how Florence does tonight with these two leaders. Meanwhile, Muscle Shoals has some scores can play. Gavin Parrish has been averaging 14 assists a game. Excuse me, not 14 assists. There's about 10 assists a game, but 14 points a game, they say. Ten points for K.V. Foster. And K.J. Cowan is the leading scorer for the Trojans and averaging 16 points a game. Both these coaches, veteran coaches, meeting right now at midcourt with a veteran officiating crew. Smiles all around. Two really good guys that get it. They appreciate one another and what they do. And it's been good to see that friendship bond between Neil Barker of Muscle Shoals and Dylan Burleson of Florence as they talk. Thank Neil Barker in his 11th season at Muscle Shoals after about five seasons, four seasons, excuse me, at Spain Park. And he has had an outstanding career in coaching, over 200 wins. Meanwhile, Dylan Burleson, who was at Haleville High School with a great successful run there, including taking the Lions to the Final Four. He's been at Florence now for three seasons. He was the 7A Coach of the Year last year, which will now make him, as of right now, the last ever 7A Coach of the Year. Because classifications have been changed up, six classifications instead of seven, along with private schools having two classifications. So Dylan Burleson could be a trivia question of the last 7A Coach of the Year in basketball in the state of Alabama. He did that last season. So he's taken two teams to the Final Four, including the Lions of Haleville and last season, the Florence Falcons. Both teams warming up. We're getting closer to start time. West Coast style, get a cup of coffee, stay awake. Florence Falcons basketball on the TNT fireworks pregame show continues after this two-minute timeout. Back here at Buffalo Shoals High School. Kevin Johnson with you for the TNC Fireworks pregame show. Flying solo tonight on this late night broadcast. Mike Albertson passed his bedtime. Couldn't be with us tonight. I hope he gets a nap tonight. I know he has to get in bed by 9 o'clock. It happens sometimes. Actually, he's been out of town and just getting back into town. So I appreciate Mike Albertson more. You know, one of the best in the business and loves it. Does add so much to this broadcast week after week. Good to hear from my good friend Jeffrey Jones, who does our sideline broadcast for basketball. He is listening in tonight as well. And many others. But most of Florence is in this gym on one side. And most of the school is right behind me. I've met more students than I've met in a long time. Florence will be wearing the road black, blue numbers, white trim. Muscle shows white with black and red trim. I will do my best to bring you the broadcast because this one, it's going to be, I'm in the deep corner on the baseline right in front of the Florence student section. So my viewpoint is going to be obscured. You're going to hear a lot of noise tonight. And it's going to be what basketball, I grew up in basketball like this in high school basketball. Where you would have such crowds and all into it. They'd be here since 5 o'clock. They shut the doors at 6 o'clock tonight. So that gives you an idea of how it's been. Tay Jones will get the start for Florence, the 6'3 junior. He'll be joined by Jason Payne, 5'10 junior. And a little general, Jason Pearson, 5'9 senior, will get the start as well. Cage Roy, a sophomore, 6'3", has played really well lately. And Kevontae Green wears number 10. Kevontae will get the start. He is at 6'2 and a junior. So Green and Roy Pearson Payne and Jones are the starting lineup for your Florence Falcons. Muscle Shoals will counter with Gavin Parrish, a 5'11 junior. He'll wear number zero. Kiave Foster will also get the start. He'll wear number one. The lights go out in the gym now as they do a video montage of hyping up the crowd. So I can't really tell you who else is the starters as they're doing the hype video now. By the way, Florence High School and boosters and those that have opportunities to help out Florence basketball, we need this at Coffee Gym. It's time to upgrade the scoreboards and get the shot clocks in there and get a video board on each end. So be ready to help out with that. I hope they're listening. That is lifting really sharp. It's something we can add to Coffee Gym. So Foster, who is one of the leading scorers, will be one of the starters for the Trojans and Coach Neal Barker. They keep the lights out as they do the spotlight. Cam Hogan will also get the start, 5'11", senior. K.J. Cowan will get the start, a 6'3", senior. And finally, Christian Pritchard, a 5'8", junior. So Pritchard, Cowan, Hogan, Foster, and Parrish are the starting lineup for Neal Barker and the Muscle Shoals Trojans. Falcons have played well at times. They want to play well in these last three games. By the way, they'll be on the road tomorrow afternoon taking on Pinson Valley. That's a long trip after a game late night tonight. They have to play at Pinson Valley, I believe, around 3 p.m. So it's going to be a quick turnaround. But this one first, the big rivalry. High fives going down the line from Coach Dillon Burleson for every coach, for every person on the bench. He is into it. The crowd is into it. It's going to be loud. It's going to be what high school basketball should be like. Get that cup of coffee going. Buckle up. Get the fire going. And the fire is about to start here at Muscle Shoals with Florence and Falcons. Control the tail. Goes right to Jones, to the basket, laid it up. Put it in. Jones gets a quick two. And Florence leaves it 2-0. Falcons go man-to-man. Parrish with it. Swings it around to Pritchard. Pritchard picked up now by Jones at the top. Takes it to the 15-footer by Crembo. Good. All Falcons for the rebound. Jayshod Pearson out of there with it. Flies down the floor. To Payne in the corner. Can't get the three. Comes back. Bounce pass all the way across court to Pearson. He'll open for three. That one's too strong. No good. Hit the guide wire up top. So, it'll be back to Muscle Shoals. Florence leaves it 2-0. 7.26 to go here in quarter number one. They couldn't shoehorn another student or person in this place. Coming down the Trojans with it. Parrish cut off there by Payne. Back out to Pritchard. Pritchard picked up by Roy at the top at the Muscle Shoals logo. The D up chant comes from the Florence student section. Cowan trying to back down and post down. Can't do it. Has to kick it back out. No shot clock this year, but they're coming. Ball pass stolen away. Outlet pass to Payne. Runner lays it up. Put it in. Falcon defense. Turn to offense. And a good start for Florence. They lead it 4-0. They pick up full court. Pritchard breaks the press. Gets into the paint. Now picks up the dribble. Kicked it back out to Parrish. Dylan Burleson in his defensive stamp with that sports coat on. Says, let's play some D, boys. And they're doing it right now. Pritchard way up top in front of the Florence bench. Goes inside. And a foul will be called. And see if they get Roy. And they do for coming in and doubling down on Cowan. And the sports coat at 6-37 in the first quarter for Dylan Burleson has been taken off. It's a rivalry game. Parrish wanting to get in. Cannot. Has to go all the way up top to Hogan's. Hogan's picked up by Payne. Goes to the right. Runner floater up. Wouldn't go. Rebound by Florence. Florence doing a good job of getting the boards. Payne got the rebound. Got it to Pearson. Down the floor to Carvante Green. Back to Pearson in the corner. He keeps his dribble alive. He said, let's reset. Goes up top now to Jones. To Payne on the wing. Payne double-teamed. Got it to Jones on the baseline. Got it back to Payne. Open. Three ball. Corner pocket. Wood not falling. Rebound yanked down by Foster at 6-5. They got a run out to Cowan. Goes up. Lays it up. Put it in. 6-3. Senior gets the Trojans their first basket. They cut the lead in half. 4-2. Pearson picked up the dribble. Now gets it to Green. He's on the baseline. Green thinking about trying to back down at Kent. Gets it to Roy. Roy double-triple-teamed. Kicking out to Pearson. Open for three. Won't go. Short. No good. Rebound by Trojans. And a turnover or a foul? Going to say a foul. They're going to get Kevontae Green for reaching in. Second team foul. First on Kevontae. 542 to go. Florence up 42. And they pick up full court. The baseball pass down the floor. They get it in the run-out. Shot goes up. And put in. That's to Hogan's. Hogan's makes the basket and ties it up at four. Payne on the left wing. Doubled again. They try to double him on the wing. Swings it around. Three on the way from Jones. It's good. Tay Jones has five with the Falcons. Seven. Florence leads it. Seven to four. Full court pressure again. They finally get it inbounds to Foster in the backcourt. Foster says clear out. Let me bring it down to Florence. Six foot four. Gets it now to Pritchard. The defense chant coming from the Falcons student section with five minutes to go here in the first quarter. Late night in the Souls area. We'll be going until midnight tonight, possibly. Hogan's on the runner and the floater up. No good. Rebound off Florence. Green got it. Good rebound position. Gets it to Pearson. Down the floor to Payne for three. Will not fall. Rebound though. Chased down by Florence is Jones. Back to Pearson. Pearson says let's settle down. Bounce pass inside. Got green on the baseline. And what a move. Best move he's made this season. Fake going inside. Came back to the baseline and got the basket. But Muscle Shoals on a run out. Draws another foul from Roy. And free throws coming for KJ Cowan. Florence leads at nine to four. And Roy picked up number two. The lefty Cowan at 6-3. Free throw. Good. Jaden Irons for the first time in several games into the game along with Burnett. Zy Burnett. Irons have been out for a few days with undisclosed injury. But he's back tonight. Nine to six as both free throws are good for the Trojans. KJ Cowan. Pearson gets it to Jones. Jones picked up there by Foster. It's 6-4. A big size there. Actually a lot of length. Burnett has it. Well, crossover. Three on the way. Would not fall. Rebound by Irons. He goes in there and fights for it. And they're going to say jump ball possession error. We'll go back to Muscle Shoals. One thing Jaden Irons can do, he can rebound. He's physical. So, 4-13 to go. Florence leads it nine to six. Trojans have to go 94 feet. Foster gets it to Hogan's who brings it up the floor. Hogan's goes to the right side. Pritchard doesn't want it there. Pritchard in trouble now. Has to try to get rid of it. Stolen away. Burnett just picked his pocket. Strong play by the freshman. Now Burnett has it. Blows by one. Blows by two. Put it up. Put it up. Wouldn't go. It rolled all around the rim, but it would not fall. That was a good look by Burnett there. He went 94 feet, but it couldn't close. Trojans have it. Hogan's brings it up the floor. Hogan's guarded there closely now by Pearson. Not sure why they had been a five-second count. He stepped out of bounds. He just kept pushing Hogan's and pushing Hogan's. So, Hogan's almost stepped on the feet of Dylan Burleson. Dylan Burleson wasn't like the Texas head coach who was on the floor of the day. But he stepped all the way over onto the sideline. Turnover muscle shows. Florence leads at 9-6 with 3.32 to go. First quarter. Pearson. To Jones. To Payne. Oh, he said good look. Couldn't get the shot off. Swings around the corner. They got it to Irons in the paint. Irons up and under. Put it up and blocked and he's fouled. That's a nice play by Irons. Realized he had a 6-4, 6-6 defender on him. He drew the contact. Was it on Draper? Nope. It's going to be on Foster at 6-4. Draper's 6-6. Foster's 6-4. But it looks like they're almost both 6-6 to me. But Irons will shoot free throws with a 9-6 lead for Florence. First one on the way. Would not go. You know he's going to be still getting back in shape. Being out for almost two weeks. Samari and Skipworth will check in at the next dead ball. Got one or two to the Irons. About to give Tay Jones a breather. So Irons will join Payne and Pearson. Burnett and Skipworth on the floor. Leading at 10-6. So Dylan Browson going about 9 deep already. Trying to keep his, trying to keep everything in order. Oh, and they break the press and Draper has a run out and dunks it. That's actually Foster. So Foster got behind the defense and got the dunk. Pearson in Dolman's land. Kicked it out Payne for three block. And a whistle and a foul is going to be called on Foster in three free throws. Big foul there on Foster. First free throw no good. Second one is good by Payne. He has three points on the night. Florence leads it 11-8. And now trying to get two or three on the foul on three-point shot. Block foul. That was called on Foster. And he rolls them both in. So two or three for Payne. Gives Florence a four-point lead. 12-8 with 2.54 to go here in the first. Quickly down the floor. Hogan's his foul from behind. I think a skip worth it got him. Tyron King was actually one in. Running the point. Having trouble getting in some muscle shows. Getting into King now in front court. King trying to go against Pearson. Put it up. Blocked by Pearson. Out of bounds. Pearson and King about the same size. And I'm telling you, Jayshod has played enough defense in football. And he waited and waited and went up and blocked it. But it'll stay with muscle shows. And a whistle and foul on the inside against Burnett. Two-fourty-two to go in the first. And Dillon Burst is not happy with that call. Free throw is coming. That's the fifth team foul on Florence. And Skipworth will pick up the foul, I believe. Free throw up. No good. Dillon Burst wants to know the explanation. The official said he had two arms in the back, not one. So, Coach Burst said, okay, I can live with that. I understand. Second free throw. Got one of two. Did a cow one. He has five. And Florence leads 12-9 with 2.37 to go here in the first quarter. Burnett inside the irons. Got a step. Couldn't get the shot up, though. Back to Burnett. Burnett in the corner. Pulls it back out. Swings it around to Pearson. Pearson says, let's slow it down. Get a good look. Payne to Irons at the top of the key. Irons picks up the dribble. Looking for some help now. Bounce pass to Pearson. Pearson on the wing. Now goes to the baseline. Now comes back out. Into the paint. Keeps his dribble live. Cross court. Three on the way. That one won't fall for Skipworth. It was a good look. But Muscle Shoals rebounds and steps out of bounds. It will stay with Florence. And now Green and Jones will come in for Burnett and Irons who gave some good minutes. And Florence will have the basketball leading it 12-9. 2.07 to go in the first quarter. Pearson in the corner and a step out of bounds or offensive foul, they say. A moving screen against Florence. Is that on Green? Nope. Skipworth picks up his second foul for the moving screen. And timeout taken by the Trojans. We'll do the same. Florence leads it 12-9. This is Falcon Basketball. We're back in 30 seconds. Hey, Falcon fans. This is Keith at Cypress Creek Indoor Range. Rogersville. Athens. Decatur. The Shoals. 93-9. The Score. 2-0-3 to go in the first quarter. That's right. First quarter. Kevin Johnson with the Florence Falcon Basketball. Florence leads Muscle Shoals 12-9. The Trojans will have the basketball. Florence will pick up full court. And they finally break it down here to Keene in the corner. Keene drives. Can't get the shot up. Good help there by Skipworth. Who already has two fouls. Have to be careful. Hogan's has it at the top. Picked up by Green. Hands it off now to Draper. 6-6 picked up by Payne. To Keene. They run the dribble handoff. And Green went for the steal and got him on the arm. And that's going to be free throws for Muscle Shoals. Already I've got Muscle Shoals shooting at least three free, four free throws. This will be five and six. As Hogan's will go to the line and shoot two. Free throw is good. 12-10. Florence leads it by two. Irons will come back in for Green. He picked up a second. Now missed second free throw. And it's going to say the ball went off with Irons. It'll stay with Muscle Shoals. Draper come over the back. Tipped it. But it was last touched by Florence. So Trojans with a chance to tie it or take the lead. Hogan's the inbounds. It lobs it way up top to Keene. Keene swings it up top. And now Hogan's will come here. And Parrish will run the point. Parrish pounded there by Pearson. He has to pick up the dribble. He's trapped in the corner. Ball knocked away. Stolen away. That's all Pearson. Skipworth with it. Skipworth down the floor. Inside. Layup. Good. Give the basket to Irons. Give the assist to Skipworth. Falcons lead it 14-10. Trojans with the basketball. Dylan Brunson coaching from baseline to baseline. Or almost sideline to sideline to the baseline. Keene in the corner. Couldn't get it inside. Good help in there by Pearson. Swings around. Florence does the switch back. Driving in. Payne. Great defense. Shot up. No good. Rebound taken by Florence. Jones out to Pearson. Pearson behind the back dribble. Left one Trojan. Skip pass into the corner. Can't get the shot off. They go inside to Irons. Irons looking. Spinning. Nowhere to go. Kicked it back out to Payne. Payne drives baseline. He's double-teamed. And they stepped on the baseline. Turnover. Got caught in no-man's land. It'll go back to the Trojans. 38 seconds to go. 14 to 10. Falcons lead it. And Trojans will have the basketball. So not a bad start for Florence. And they're playing with some confidence early on. Finally, the pass comes inbounds for the Trojans. And Pritchard will bring it up the floor. Trojans with two team fouls. Florence with over five. Pritchard. Yo-yoing with the basketball. Gets it up top. Way up top to Draper at the mid-court strike. And now Pearson will come out on him some. A big, big difference in the size. And he picked his pocket from behind. Pearson got the steal. Pearson gets it to Payne. Payne can't get the shot off. Goes to the corner. Back to Pearson. Florence can play for the last shot with six seconds. Pearson looking, driving in the lane. Kicked it in the corner. Three on the way by Jones. Would not go. And that'll do it for one quarter. Florence leads Muscle Shoals 14 to 10. This is Falcon basketball. We're back in one minute. Getting the kids to practice on time. Remembering if it's your day to bring snacks. Making it to the game with a clean jersey. Why are simple things sometimes so complicated? Falcons had five points from Jones and four points from J.C.I. Payne to lead the Falcons. He really had a bounce score and tap, played about nine players and played with a lot of intensity here. Florence will have the basketball to start quarter number two. Again, Ironson knocked away, but Jones retrieves it. Jones up top, running the point a little bit now. Crossover dribble, kicks it around to the right side. Pearson with it. Pearson can't go to the shot there. Comes back inside, lost it, stolen away. Now the ball is on the floor and there's going to be a foul on Pearson. He grabbed the jersey. That's the right call. That's a veteran official who caught it. Slick move by Jay Shod. Was trying to get between the two Trojan players. But Jay Shod picks up his first foul. And that's the right call there. Florence will have Jones on the floor along with Burnett, Pearson, Cooper, Fulmer, and Jaden Irons. Falcons lead it by four. Irons, excuse me, Fulmer will pick up Parrish. Parrish swings it around. Cowan. Cowan inside and that's a great defensive play by Florence, but it's going to be free throws coming for the six-foot-six Draper. Irons, I thought, got a lot of ball, but it must have got him on the arm too, right in front of me here. Fourteen to ten, Florence leaves it with the six-six senior Draper to the line to shoot two. First one in and out, no good. Dillon Burleson, knowing he's got a game tomorrow too, playing a lot he can. JCP, JCP, JCP, JCP, JCP. Second free throw, got that one, one or two. Pearson has it for Florence, leading it 14-11. Gets across the midcourt stripe. They bring the double, bounce pass to Irons outside the three-point arc, swings it across port, got it to Burnett for three. That was short, no good. Rebound taken by Parrish. Parrish will bring it up the floor. Parrish hounded by Fulmer. Goes to the right, crossover dribble, comes back left, gets it down to Pritchard. Pritchard to the right wing with it. They want to go inside to Draper Kent. Good defense in there by Irons. Hogan's back out top to Parrish. Parrish wanting to go inside, now does. Gets it down low to Foster, who powers his way in. Check out Cowan, who powers his way in. Put it in. Fourteen, thirteen, one-point lead for Florence. Pearson. And there's a foul called as Jones was fouled this time by Pritchard. First foul of the quarter, quarter number two for the Trojans. Payne will come back in the game along with Cage-Roy. Florence leads at fourteen, thirteen. Fulmer and Irons will come out. Florence inbound to Payne for three. Short, no good. Rebound tipped around. Fought for it. Irons saves it, and they'll go back to Florence. Maybe a foul called on Muscle Shoes, actually. The Trojans get the foul called on Cowan. That's a big foul there. Cowan picks up his first. So Florence will have the basketball on the sideline. Irons up top. Nobody picks him up. They swing it around to Payne. Payne can get the three-point shot off. Now he's double-teamed. He's hit on the arm. Draper. Draper didn't like that call. He'll pick up his first foul. Florence still leads at fourteen, thirteen. But they've been stuck on fourteen for a little bit. They go inside. The Irons up and under a move, and he's fouled by Draper. He picked up his second. Tremendous play called by Dylan Burleson. Knowing Draper had Irons, he got Irons to come on a backdoor cut, and Irons went up like he was going to shoot it, but held his foot. Draper went up, and then a little shot fake drew the contact, and Irons will go to the line and shoot two, but more importantly, two fouls now on Draper. Free throw will not fall. Irons has not been very good at the free throw line, but you can't blame him. He's been out of action for two weeks. One of three so far, but see if he can make it two of four here. Irons wears number thirteen, wipes the sweat off his hands on the side of his pants. Gifts the basketball and takes the second free throw, and it's short. No good. Ball bounces around, ping-pongs around, but taken there finally by Draper of Muscle Shoals. Irons stays on in the backcourt, making him have trouble with it. Finally gets rid of it, and Hogan gets it across the midcourt line. Goes all the way in, lays it up. No good. Stripped away by Draper. Put it up and in. Draper just outmanned Florence on that one. And the Trojans had their first lead of the day at 15-14. Payne goes left. Kits it over to Jones. Jones back out to Irons will try a three. That one back rim, no good. Rebound Muscle Shoals. Florence offensively cold right now. Hogan has it next to Parrish. Parrish gets the screen up top. They go inside now, trying to post up Cowards. Spins in the lane, put it up, and he's fouled, and he makes it. And right now, the post players are making things happen. Hey, buddy, calm and calm down. Free throw coming to try to complete the three-point play. The lefty puts this one up. The lefty puts this one up. No good. Rebound taken down by Florence. It's Payne. The Trojans have a three-point lead, 17-14. Payne on the wing. Goes inside. Good look. Layup's good. Great pass in that side to Green. Devontae Green gets the basket. It's the first point of the quarter for Florence at the 5-19 mark to cut it to 17-16. Ball inside again to Cowan. Goes up and laid it in. He's dominating right now. He's already in double figures. He has 11. Pearson up the floor for Florence. Pearson against the man-to-man defense. Oh, that Draper got away with a big foul. He'll go up and dunk it on the other end. Timeout taken by Florence. We'll do the same. Trojans lead it, 21-16. Falcon basketball back in 30. Hey, shut up! Put your shirt back on! Back here at Muscle Shoes. Florence trails to the Trojans, 21-16. Apologize for technical difficulties. We've had some. Muscle Shoes leads it by 5. Florence with a basketball. Payne has it up top. Payne being hounded there by Pritchard. Picks up his dribble. Cross-court pass. Got it to Jones. Jones at the free-throw line. Double team has knocked away and stolen away. Here comes Cowan with it. Cowan spins in the lane. Lost it. Picked up by Florence with Jones. Jones out of there. Gets it to Pearson. Pearson down the floor. Surveys traffic. Lost it. Picked it back up. Got it to Irons to Pearson. Irons on the wing. Back to Pearson. Won't take the 3 there. Pearson very wise with the basketball. Falcons down by 5. Green on the post. Nobody got him. Now he gives back it out to Jones. Swings around to Pearson. Pearson to Irons in the corner. Irons now to Green on the post. Irons spins. Fade away with the left hand. Wouldn't go. Rebound taken down by the Trojans. Up the floor comes Muscle Shoes with it. Hogan has it. Bounce pass in the way. Knocked away. Stolen away by Pearson. Pearson comes away with it. Pearson all the way down the floor. Looks in the lane. Got hit. Got fouled. No call. Now they call it. He hits the basket. And he'll shoot for 3. What a play by Jayshod Pearson. So Jayshod will cut the lead down to 3. 21-19 after the free throw is good. Burnett will check back in. So it'll be Green. In there along with Burnett, Pearson Payne, and Jones. Here come the Trojans with it. Leading at 21-19. 3.35 to go. The Falcons students all into this one tonight. As are the Trojans students across the way. Continues to dribble with it. He gets into the lane. Put up a wild shot. Blocked by Jones. Falcons push it down the floor now. Payne gets in the corner. 3 for Burnett. Will not go. Layup, though, by Green. He got the rebound and stuck it in. And Florence ties it up at 21. Whistle. Foul on Florence on the other end. Not sure he called that on. Going to be on Jones. They're trying to get the players to go back until they get that done. Now the Trojans can bring substitutes in. Officials want to get the file administered to the book. And then you can bring the substitutes in. Tied at 21 with 3.04 to go. Trojans will inbound it. Draper up top. In the corner now. Pritchard can't get the shot off. Goes inside. And they're going to call a foul on Burnett. A holding call from behind. The backside officials called it. So, Florence will have a 15th foul. And Trojans will shoot free throw. Free throw is coming. First win. Back rim no good. Tied at 21. 2.56 to go. Second free throw. Bish both of them. Rebuy by Florence. It's Burnett. Burnett will bring it up to the floor. Great cross court. Pass to Green. Went up for the dunk and got fouled. He went up with a one-hand hammer. And he got hit by Cowan on the arm. And he'll shoot two. Well, there was going to be a collision above the rim. Both players were at about 11 feet. And Green will go the line to shoot two. The aggression, if nothing else, draws the second foul from Cowan. First free throw. Got it. Green has been a catalyst here in the second quarter for a team that Florence has not shot the ball well. But he has seven of the points. Now make it eight of the 11. Pearson had that three-point play. Actually, seven of the 11, excuse me. Seven of the, you know, 10. Parrish spins in the lane. Knocked away. Stolen away. Great hands there by Green and Burnett. Here comes Florence with it. Pearson. Falcons lead it by two. In the corner. Pearson got the ball back. Fake the three. Won't take the three. Bounce pass now to Jones. Jones has the taller player on him. And Draper goes in. Spence goes back out. Swings around. Knocked away. Pearson got the loose ball. Pearson's tripped from behind. It'll be a foul. And free throw's coming for Florence. So the foul's starting to mount up. It's keen, clipped up. Pearson, he'll shoot two. First free throw. Good. Second free throw. Got them both. 25-21. Florence with a four-point lead. 2.13 to go. Full court pressure. Man-to-man. Parrish brings it down the floor. Picked up by Pearson. Got a step in the lane this time. Laid it up. Missed it. Rebound taken by Florence. Forced him in and out. Jones got the rebound. Gave it to Pearson. Quick outlet to Green. Florence runs the floor. Green leads it in. He's got eight here in the quarter. And Florence leads it to six. After being down 21-16. Florence on an 11-0 run. Draper. Top of the key at 6-6. Running the point. Florence sagging back. Parrish has it up top. Burnett giving him space. Trying to sag in on those big guys. Forced the guards of Muscle Shoes to beat you. The drive in the lane. 15-footer short. Missed everything. Rebound taken by Cowan. Put it up. And he's fouled. That's on Green. And that might be number three on Green. And it is. That's a big foul. That Dylan Burleson with 128 knows it. He's got to have Kevante Green some in the second half. That is a big third foul right there. Irons will get ready to check in the game. As Cowan will go to the line to shoot two. First one back rim. Won't go. Six-point lead for Florence. Before a packed house. Jam-packed house. Sold out. Over 100 people could not get in. They were turned away. There was no room in the end here tonight. Second free throw coming for Cowan. That one's good. Cowan gets one of two. He has 12 with the Trojans 22. Florence though still with a five-point lead with 123 to go in the half. Pearson. Yo-yo's in the lane. Put it up. Block from behind. He's fouled. Smart. Play by Pearson. He'll just lull you to sleep. Lull you to sleep. And then every once in a while he says, you know what? If y'all aren't going to honor me, I'm going to take it in. I'm going to put it up. And I'm going to get to the line. And that's what he did. He'll have two. First one on the way. Rolled it in. Just over the front rim. And hit some bets. Give him six, four of them from the free throw line in this quarter. Trojans will bring back in Combe Hogan for Parrish. Second free throw from Pearson. Nothing but net. He's a perfect five for five here in the first half. Florence back up a seven. Dylan Burleson said play defense. Burnett will pick up Keene way up top. Keene spins back. Burnett stays with him. Burnett plays really long to be as tall as he is. They finally get rid of it to Pritchard. Picked up by Payne at the top of the key. Now to get it to Hogan's. Hogan says, nope, don't want it there. The Draper way up top. Keene has it. Keene in the corner. Three on the way from the corner. Back rim. No good. Rebound by Cowan. Put it in. He's being unstoppable for multiple shows. He has 14 of their 24. Florence lead down to five. Payne to Jones. Back to Payne. Payne can't get a shot off. Gets it inside. Tipped around. Stolen away. Here come the Trojans with it. They got a run out. Down the floor. Shot put up. Blot by Irons. Put up. It followed up in the end. Guess who? It's Cowan. Cowan puts it in. Now they're going to check on the players. Cowan has 11 here in this quarter. Dylan Burleson says, why did you stop it? It'll be Florence basketball leading it by three as Cowan has brought Muscle Shoals back to within three. Pearson, right side with it as you cross the midcourt strike. Got it inside the Irons. Irons bounce pass. Got it over. Inside. Lay up. Put up. Good. Great ball movement. That's Burnett. That ball popped around quick. And Burnett lays it in. Trojans quickly down the floor. Cowan. Guess who? Cannot stop it. And that's at the buzzer. And at the end of one half, Florence leads it 31-28. This is Falcon basketball. We're back in two minutes. Back here on the TNT Fireworks halftime show where Florence leads Muscle Shoals 31-28 before sold-out Muscle Shoals gym tonight. Kevin Johnson flying solo with you on this Friday night. Hey, stay warm. Stay safe. Check on those who need to be checked on this weekend. It's going to be cold out there. It's going to be real cold as we approach Groundhog Day. So, just stay warm and keep our friends in Tennessee and Mississippi continuing in prayers as they recover from the ice storm and Selma and Alabama, too. We continue to remember those folks out west, on the very west end of Alabama, thinking about them. At the half, Florence up by three, 31-28. Let's look at first half stats. For Muscle Shoals, Foster had two. Hogan's had three. And Draper had five. That doesn't sound that bad, does it? I mean, between those, that's ten points. The problem was a young man by the name of K.J. Cowan, 6'3", senior, who has 18 of the Trojans, 28 in the first half. He's been unstoppable. Getting deep in the paint, being strong to the boards, and on it. And Florence also in trouble with Kevontae Green, who's played well at the post, has three fouls. So, Florence is going to have to really battle against a taller, more physical Muscle Shoals team here in the second half. Florence has Tate Jones. The 6'3", junior, had five points in the first quarter. Matter of fact, their first five points of the game, if I'm not mistaken, Jaceon Payne, only four points. They have doubled him and tripled him at times. They are not going to let him get his shots off. He was outstanding against Muscle Shoals the first game. They have an emphasis on him this game. He's not getting the looks. Seven points from Jayshod Pearson. Three from Jayden Irons. Two from Zy Burnett. And the Falcons' leading scorer is 10 points is Kevontae Green. So, Green has 10 for the Falcons, who led it 14-10 at the end of the first quarter. And lead it 31-28 here at the half. As we have late night from Muscle Shoals, the Shoals area. These games went long in the early with the JV games and the girls' game. The JV boys won in a dramatic comeback, being down by 21 at 65-63. The Lady Falcons just couldn't find their shot in the first half. Made a valiant comeback, but followed the Trojans late in that one as well. And now the men, Florence, leads it 31-28. This is not the latest start we've had to a game for Florence High School, but I would say it's the second latest. Mike Albertson and I went to Moulton, Alabama to do a game between Florence and Lawrence County. I think the tip time that night was about 9-15. And when we got through with the game, the only game being played in the nation was University of California, Irvine, against some other school out in California. And Florence and Moulton, and Lawrence County and Moulton. So, this is not the latest start, but it's pretty much up there, that's for sure. But the Falcons here lead it 31-28 at the half. Back here at Muscle Shoals High School, the TNT Fireworks Halftime Show, where Florence holds on to a three-point lead over Muscle Shoals. 31-28, Kevin Johnson flying solo with your night. Late night here in the Shoals area. But nobody's left this one. If you got here at 5 o'clock, you got in. At 6 o'clock, the doors were shut. No one else could get in. It's just one of those rivalries. And it's been loud all night. You just got a feeling this game could go down to wide. It was announced earlier this week, Florence's 20-26 football schedule. They will open up a Jamboree game at Huntsville High School. And then on the August 21st, they will travel to take on Pinson Valley. Their home opener will be August 28th against Jasper. The Vikings, for the first time, will come to town to take on Florence. September 4th, Florence and Muscle Shoals will meet here at Muscle Shoals. September 11th, Florence will be on the road at Russellville, who is now in this new Class 5A area that we are in. Decatur, with six classifications, by the way. Decatur on September 18th will come to Florence. A bye week on the 25th. And Florence will end up the season with Athens at home on October 2nd. And then they'll also have East Limestone coming to Brawley Stadium on the 8th. October 16th, they will play against Austin. The 23rd, they will, that will be at Austin 23rd, they will have a senior night at home against Hartsell. And on October 30th, they'll travel to the other end of the state on the east side, not the south side. We've done that last year in football. It's only a two-and-a-half-hour drive, but it won't be bad, to take on the Wildcats on Fort Payne. I sort of look forward to that one. That's a good program. So it's going to be a fun schedule. And it'll be here before you know it with Kenny Marson and the Florence Falcons. Here, Florence leads it by score of 31-28. Let's get one more 30-second timeout in. Getting the kids to practice on time. Remembering if it's your day to bring snacks. Making it to the game with a clean jersey. Why are simple things sometimes so complicated? Florence and the Trojans having a good one. Florence leads it 31-28, but Muscle Shoes will have their basketball to start. Quarter number three. Falcons will send out Jones, Pearson Payne. Roy and Green to start the third quarter. It'll be difficult for me in this third quarter to call the game because traffic is coming through, going from concession stand at halftime back through. I'll do my best. Parrish has it for the Trojans. Parrish looking. Keeps alive and stolen away. Taken away by Florence is Pearson. Pearson, Eurostep, got it over to Green. Put it up, put it in. What a slick pass by Pearson right there. And Green picks up where he left off. Falcons lead up to five. Here come the Trojans with it up the floor. Hogan's on the left wing. Picked up by Pearson. He had doubles down. He kicked that basketball. Thought he got it with his hand. He yelled out. Oh, I thought I had it. But it was a kickball to go back to the Trojans. 7-28 to go in the third. Foster at 6-4 and a half, maybe. I'd give him another inch even to that. He's a tall kid in the corner. Back out to Pritchard. Payne will pick up Parrish. He's running the point. Pritchard up top. That's a three on the way. But Hogan's no good. But he goes right to Parrish in the corner. Inside to Cowens. He's fouled. Cowens is fouled from behind. Let's see what they call it on. It's going to be on J-Shot. No, it's going to be on Jones. Who picked up his second foul. And Cowen will go to the line. The left-hander. I say he's left-handed. Let me check that. Yep, he's a lefty. He'll attempt two. First one, no good. He is human after all. He has 18 of the 28 for the Trojans. And Florence leads it 33-28. Second free throw coming. For the 6-3 senior. This Trojan team has won 11 of 12 coming into this game tonight. Falcons have played an incredibly stiff competition. And not sure what they call their delay of game. So, I'm not sure what it was there. Free throw counts. I wish it was so. So, Falcons are getting inbounds. Full court pressure coming. I think they were warning the player about his shirt tail. And Cowens had to come out of the game. Pearson hands it off to Roy. Roy kicks it around. Payne can't get the shot off. Gets it to Pearson. He'll try a three. It won't go. Rebound. Taken by the Trojans. Good box out there. Parrish boxed out Roy and picks up the basketball. Across the midcourt strike. Falcons lead by four. But the Trojans have the ball. Back into Parrish. He laid it up. Put it in. Lowell. The Falcons asleep there on the give and go. Falcons quickly down the floor. Green. Out to Pearson. Pearson in the paint. Kicks it in the corner. Three by Jones. Got it. Needed it. It was a big one. Tay Jones. With a three. He can get in spurts. Lead by five. Parrish. Moves to the left side. The ball nearly knocked away. Stolen away. On the floor. They're going to call foul on Pearson. Who got him. And that's going to be number three on Jay Shod. He went for the ball. Got him on the ankle. It's the right call. It's a tough call. Actually, it's his second foul. Excuse me. Roy has three. Green has three. Jones and Pearson have two. Florence, though, leads it by five. 36-31 with 6.15 to go in the third. And that's a foul away from the basketball. That should be against the Trojans. A moving screen. And that one's going to go against Cam Hogan. Hogan just went high against Pearson, who's really hounded him for a long time. So Florence will have the basketball. After the foul. Jones will come in front court. Horn set. Gets it to Pearson. Pearson backdoor cut to Payne, but he couldn't get the pass. Falcons run that play a lot last year with Burnett. And, excuse me, with Chandler. Chandler, excuse me. But it didn't work there. 36-31. Right wing with it. Into the lane. Foster, Euro step, jump. Sot, no good. Rebound on the floor. Save by Foster. Deep three on the way. Up good. You can sense that one coming. Foward and Keene hits the three. The lead down to two. Green knocked it away. Stolen away. Here come the Trojans with it. Draper down the floor. Other side. The Keene laid it up. Tied it up. Timeout taken by Florence. 5.32 to go. We're tied at 36. Falcon basketball back in 30 seconds. Florence Utilities now offers new bill pay options. A 5-0 run by Muscle Shoals has tied it up at 36 with 5.32 to go. Kyron Keene on that 5-0 run by himself. Get a three. Then continue to go from there. Florence tried to run a backdoor cut like they did with Jalen Chandler and Bryant and James last year. Those two, by the way, are having outstanding freshman seasons where they are. Here's the horn set again by Florence. Jones up top. Drives, got a step, put it up with the left hand, put it in. Everything was taken away, so Jones goes up and says, I'll do it myself. 38-36. Parrish in backcourt. Pearson on him. Switch now. Parrish drives hard to the basket, laid it up. No good. Rebound, no taken by Trojans. They'll have another set. In the corner, Foster won't take the three. This Trojan team, not a three-point shooting team it don't look like. Keene hit one earlier. Driving. Parrish goes in, put it up, rolled it in. Tied at 38. Knocked away. Last touch by Muscle Shoals. It'll stay with Florence. Falcons to substitute, bring in Burnett. And let's check that. And Skipworth, giving Payne a breather. And Roy breathing. Irons is in there, too, for Florence. 38-36. What to get in bounds and do. Get to Burnett. To Pearson. Pearson. Double team now. To mid-thwart stripe. Can't get through it. Finally gets through it to Irons. Into the corner to Skipworth. Baseline to Jones. Jones has got a good match. Goes up around, put it up, put it in. He realized he had a smaller player on him. Jones in double figures now with 10. Florence leads it by two. Ball knocked out of bounds by Irons. It'll stay with Muscle Shoals. Florence in the road, black and blue. Muscle Shoals in all white with red and black numerals. Fake the baseball pass. They get in bounds to Parrish. Parrish picked up by Pearson in the backcourt. 4.15 to go. Here in the third. Falcons lead by two. Parrish. Almost knocked away. Fall. Chased down though by Draper. Who has it there. Irons got into the cylinder. And that's a foul. That's a right call. Jayden Irons is trying to pressure against Draper. And Draper just did that little spin move with the basketball. Up and under. And when he did, he caused contact. 13th foul on Florence in the quarter at the 405 mark. Inbounds pass in the corner to Foster goes baseline. He stepped on the side on the baseline. Turnover against the Trojans. Neil Barker saying he's got pushed out of bounds. But the official on the baseline said no. He stepped out of bounds on his own. Florence will bring it up the floor. Jones will run the point some. Picks up the dribble. Hands it off to Pearson. Pritchard and Pearson have been going at it. Pearson with his mouth open saying let's go. Has the black headband on tonight. Got by the defender. Keeps his dribble alive. Up top. Three on the way. Back rim no good. Rebound taken by the Trojans. Pritchard will bring it up the floor. Florence leads it by two. But a chance for the Trojans to tie it or take the lead. Falcon defense has been outstanding tonight. But they're having to really struggle on the inside with the boards. Parrish. Got by Burnett. Got into the lane. Burnett got back to him. Deep three on the way by Keene. He's up and good. All of a sudden, Keene has become the three-point shooter. He has eight in this quarter after scoring zero. And the Trojans have a one-point lead. And Parrish with a steal for the Trojans. Up the floor. Parrish in the corner to Keene. Can't get the three off. Back up top. Trojans will reset it with Parrish at the top. Keene step back. Three on the way. Short. No good. Rebound chased down by Foster of Muscle Shoals. They're out hustling the Falcons now. Draper for three. Back rim no good. Should have been a foul on the back. But it's tipped out again to Keene. Keene stays it in. Trojans have their third look. Into the corner. Pritchard drives into the paint. And a foul called. I'll give Skipworth this. He got his money's worth. But the length of Muscle Shoals right now against the team that's on the floor. Getting to the boards. And that's the third foul on Skipworth. Dylan Burleson says, let's get some sides in there. Kevante Green, Roy, and Payne will come back in. Trojans lead at 41-40. And quickly, Neil Barker says, let's get Cowan ready to come in the next dead ball. Parrish, open ball, blocked, but it's saved in our foster. He spins in the lane, put it up, and it bounces no good. Rebound taken by Florence. That's great defense by Green. Green in the front court. Green to the basket. Got hammered. No call. Rebound taken down. And by the Trojans. Man, that was a hard hit right there. No call. Dylan Burleson doesn't say that word. He just said, okay, both sides. Let him go. Pritchard to Parrish on the wing. Parrish trying to drop in the paint. Got a step. Block from behind. Rebound taken by Florence. Coming out of there with it. Comes the Falcons down the sideline. All the way. Coast to coast is Jones. Kicking the corner. Pearson, three. Won't go. Rebound taken by Muscle Shoals. Draper wants to go coast to coast. He's down the floor. Not a smart foul by Green. He just picked up his four. Did not need that foul. That's where Kevante needs to know. You've got three fouls. We need you in there. And a foul about 30 feet away trying to run down the guy with the ball. And we'll put him to the free throw line. And Kevante will have four. That's a huge call. 41-40. Trojans lead it now by 240-240. Second free throw coming. Green will come out. And Irons will come in. Kevante realized, man, I shouldn't have done that. Second free throw. No good. Rebound taken by Florence. Payne comes out there with it. Down by two. Falcons down the floor. Roy in the paint. Floater up. Good. Cage Roy attacked the basket. I like that by him. Ties it up at 42. 140 to go in the third. Keene has it for the Trojans. Keene to the right side. Hogan's has it. Now Pritchard. Pain all over him. Can't go inside. But they're trying to double up on Cowan. They reverse the ball to the corner to Hogan's. And a whistle and a foul will be called on Florence. Said he was pushing too much on Cowan. That was Roy who picked up the foul. His fourth. Skipworth will have to come in. Right now I'm sitting right at the end of the bench. And I may have to dress out before this one's over. Meany Falcons with 14 fouls on them. Personal fouls. And to the free throw line. The lefty Cowan again. Free throw short. No good. Thank goodness he's not a tremendous free throw shooter. Skipworth will come in for Roy. Tied at 42 with 1.26 to go. And Dylan Burleson having to mix and match right now. Second free throw. Back rim. No good. Rebound by Florence. Payne brings it down the floor. Gets it to Jones on the wing. To Pearson. Back to Jones. Skipworth. I mean three on the way. Front rim. No good. Rebound taken down by Draper. Trojans have it. Tied at 42 still. As we approach one minute left in the third. Front court. Trojans have it. Left wing. Pritchard. Florence really sagging back in that. Not a zone. But a matchup. Layup. Put up. No good. But a foul called on Florence. As Keene has become aggressive. And it will be on Skipworth. And Kyron Keene who did nothing in the first half. To go to the line and try to get his ninth and tenth point of the quarter. And Skipworth picked up his fourth foul. Free throw good. By Keene. So Roy Green and Skipworth all with four fouls for Florence here in the third quarter. Second free throw good. Ten points for him. Two point lead for the Trojans. Burnett checked in for Skipworth. Pearson with it. Top of the key. Keeps the dribble alive. Gets it to Irons now at the top of the key. Spins away. Irons look. Couldn't get the shot. Back door stolen away. It's a great play by Pritchard. Gets it down the floor to Cowan. He spins in the lane. Lost it. Taken away. Pearson for Florence has it. Pearson with five Trojans around him. Pulls it back. Says it's reset. The general is a smart one. He didn't have what he needed there. Drives. Double team. Had it knocked away. Got it back. Irons with it. Kicks it up top. Swings it to Payne. His first good look. Three good. He hadn't been open all night. But when he got it, he said, oh, thank goodness. Let me have the basketball. And Florence leads it by Warren with 10 seconds to go in the third. Hogan's with it. Top of the key. Gets it to Cowans. Cowans drives to the right. Spins back left. Great defense by Irons. Puts up a wild shot. No good. What a play by Jayden Irons. And Florence leads it 45-44. As we go to the fourth, this is Falcon basketball. We're back in 60. One quarter left in this one between Florence and Muscle Shoes, your 10 o'clock news coming up after this. That's Florence and Muscle Shoes, a late start. Falcons lead at 45-44 as we have what I call West Coast basketball late night action here on a Friday night, stay warm, stay bundled up, get that one last cup of coffee and here we go. Florence will have the basketball. It'll be Jones, Pearson and Payne on the floor with Burnett and Irons as Florence has three Falcons with four fouls. Let's see if the boys in black and blue can get a sweep. It's going to be tough on the road. Payne who hit the three to end the quarter has the basketball. Payne drives, hands it off. Got it to Jones, Pearson at the top, Pearson double team, keeps the drill alive and that gets away. Pearson now in trouble, looking, gets it over to Irons, Irons kicks it around. Jones inside, Burnett layup, good. Ball movement, unselfish, beautiful basketball. And Florence lead is three, 47-44. Quickly down the floor, in the lane, Cowens has it, put it up, got it to go. It's just too strong. Once he gets on that box, he's tough to stop. A one-point lead for Florence. Pearson, oh, eye open inside to Jones. He spins in the lane, kicked it back out. Irons to Pearson. Pearson won't shoot the three. Florence had two good looks and didn't take it. Pearson knows that it was just resettled. Into Burnett on the post. Burnett backs his way down, put it up, wouldn't go. Irons with a rebound, put it up, put it in. Jaden Irons, welcome back, young man. He has five on the day. Florence lead, back to three, 49-46. Pritchard picked up by Pearson in the backcourt. Here comes the steal. Pearson picked his pocket. Pearson, Euro step, left hand layup, good. Oh, what a play by Jay Shod. Beautiful steal in play and timeout taken by the Trojans. I think, nope. They're going to say a foul in backcourt. I thought Neil Barker wanted to timeout, but they're going to call a foul on Florence as Burnett picks up his third. Parrish will come in for the Trojans, 6.39 to go. So that whistle and foul will save Neil Barker a timeout. Florence leads it by five. Hogan's picked up by Burnett at the midcourt strike. He had it blocked away and another foul calling Burnett. That's his fourth. Dylan Burleson started looking down the bench and said, who doesn't have four fouls if nobody raised their hand? So he'll send in Skipworth to start off this one. Who has four to replace Burnett? Who has four? Yeah, I thought he got all ball. He did too, but he got called in midcourt for that one. Near turnover in backcourt by Muscle Shoals. They retrieve it though. Hogan's has Skipworth on him. Hogan's drives to the right. Got a step, put it up. Too strong, no good. Tip, no good. All over the back is Cowans and he'll stay with the Trojans. Oh, Florence staff did not like that one. And I don't blame him. Dylan Burleson saying it's either a foul or a ball. But he goes back to the Trojans. They look to get inbounds. They get it to Draper, who nearly has fouled in McGee. And they call a foul this time on Skipworth, who picked up his fifth. So, Cage Roy will play Skipworth, who fouls out at the 621 mark. Florence still has, I think, three other players who has four fouls. Trojans to inbound it. Florence leads it by five. In the corner with it. Deep three on the way. Got it. My goodness. Pritchard hasn't hit a three all night and he drains one. Falcons down the floor. Pearson to answer. Three. Won't go. Rebound. Tip back out, but he goes to the Trojans. And a whistle and a foul. And a blow by. And they caught him going for the ball and hit him on the face. And that's the fourth team foul on Florence. The third on Jayshod. And timeout taken by Florence. 30-second timeout. We'll do the same. Florence leads it. 51-49. Don't go away. We're back in 30. The Score. 6-0-5 to go in the game, and Florence holding on to a two-point lead. Already, Skipworth is fouled out. Roy has four fouls. Green has four fouls. Jayshod Pearson has three fouls. Florence has already fouled four times in this quarter. Once the Shoals is yet to foul in this quarter, so free throws and fouls can become a real issue here, but Florence is trying to hold on to a two-point lead. Dylan Burleson just now releasing his team from that timeout. It will be Trojans basketball right in front of the Florence bench. Preacher closes the backcourt to Hogan's. Hogan's to the right. Goes to the, and they're going to call a foul on Florence, and that's Pearson. Pick up his fourth, and that's a ticky-tack foul there. Dylan Burleson says, hang on. Stay calm. Now they're pulling Pritchard and Jayshod away from each other. The official talking to Jayshod, but it was Pritchard. It was the one instigated. Now he runs away like he didn't do anything, and Jayshod gets the tongue lashing. Nothing about it. He was trying to clean it up. But Jayshod picked up his fourth and got a little taunt there coming to him. The free throw is good by Hogan's to cut it to one. That's my opinion. Wearing black and blue as I do. Jayshod will have to come out. Green will come in. You've got to give him a breather for about a minute or two before you can put him back in. Second free throw, good. Hogan's gets both. We're tied at 51. Who will run the point? It'll be Payne. Payne gets the high screen. Kicked in the corner to Green. Back to Payne. Payne thought about the three. He didn't take it. Now he will. Three on the way. Well not go. Rebound by Foster. Quickly down the floor. Get it to Pritchard. Pritchard higher to the basket. Great defense, but he put it in anyway. And the Trojans lead it. Falcons try to push on the other end. Irons back to Payne. Double teamed in the corner. Dribbles back up top. Payne into the paint. Double teamed. Back door cut to Roy. Goes up. Put it in. And he's fouled. Oh, that's a terrible technical foul. And Dylan Burleson is going to have to be held back. That technical foul was called by a guy that was walking out screaming for his score. He was not taunting. It was the other player from most of the shows that shouldered him. And when the referee looked up, he saw the shoulders hit. And he called the technical on Florence. And that's five on Roy. Dylan Burleson not happy. And I don't blame him. I think it was an overreaction here. Now, here's the problem. Roy fouled out of the game. He's got to shoot free throws before he can be let out. And then he got teed up. Tied at 53. It's a veteran crew. But I disagree with what happened there. I think it was just maybe the second look. He looked up and he saw it. Dylan Burleson still not happy. He knows the crew. They know him. Cage Roy will come out. He'll have to shoot free throws first. They're going to explain to him that Roy fouled out of the game. He's supposed to have a free throw. So, will he have to bring somebody off the bench to shoot the free throw? Or will they let Roy shoot the free throw? Dylan Burleson very calm with this official. This is not the one who called the technical foul. Rarely do you see Dylan Burleson upset. Dylan Burleson said, I don't think that's right. I think you've got to let Roy shoot the free throw. Tied at 53 with 525 to go. It was Roy that got teed up. He was excited. He screamed. But when he walked by the player, they bumped shoulders. And they called a technical foul. And Cage Roy got one of the cheapest five fouls I've ever seen. And now all the students of Florence into it. Power Muscle Shoals. Pearson will check in to shoot one free throw. And it wouldn't go. Tied at 53. Now, technical foul on the other end for the Trojans. In a tight game. And it really wasn't anything I thought that warranted maybe that. Maybe I didn't see or hear what the officials saw or heard. Free throw. Good by Paris. He'll get another. He missed that one. He missed that one. Trojans lead it 54-53. And Trojans have the basketball. Florence has two timeouts left. The Trojans have four. With 525 to go. And Florence now has two players on the bench with five fouls. Roy and Skipworth. Trojans only have committed one foul in this quarter. Draper up top. Wanted to go to Cowan. Now to Parrish. Back up top. They swing it to Hogan's. Hogan's dribbles way back out. Bounce pass to the right side to Draper. Now he tries to drive on irons. Went it wildly. Put it up. No good. Rebound tips around. Still on the floor. Taking the round. Should be picked up by Florence if they can. Loose ball still. Jump ball. And finally. Possession error. Timeout. They're going to give Muscle Shoals the timeout. And now another technical foul called. It was a jump ball. Loose ball. And I'm not sure what happened. But in the visual it said technical foul. And it could be the fifth foul on this one. We'll see. And Jayside Pearson just fouled out of the game. With 4.50 to go. Cleaning up were all the players on the floor. They were scrambling for the loose ball. I thought it was a jump ball. They gave Muscle Shoals the timeout. And as one referee was running the signal timeout to Muscle Shoals. Something happened underneath. And another official saw it. Didn't like it. And Dylan Burleson getting his team under control. And said calm down. Florence down by one. With 4.50 to go. This one's gotten not out of hand. I don't think that at all. But I think it got calmed down in a different way. And free throws again for the Trojans. Free throw bounces in. That one for Hogan's. Makes them both. Three-point lead for Muscle Shoals. And the Trojans will get the basketball. So Florence has had two technical fouls called on them in the last minute. And now they'll inbound the ball. Payne, Jones, Green, Burnett on the floor along with Irons. They're in the 2-3 zone right now. He may buy a few minutes here. Even though he's down three, Dylan Burleson has been such foul trouble. Pass around, Hogan's back up top to Parrish. Parrish swings it around to Pritchard. Pritchard just walks with it as he dribbles. Not a traveling guy. He's just walking around dribbling. Parrish back to Pritchard. Florence settles back in that zone. Now the Trojans look like they want to run a little motion offense here. Florence doing a good job of settling back. Communicating pretty well right now. Parrish at the top of the key. Four minutes to go in this one right now. Draper has the top of the key. Picks up his dribble. Packs it over to Pritchard. Pritchard faked the three like he's going to shoot it didn't. Trojans lead it by three. They go baseline now. Got a little trap out there, but they get it back to Pritchard. The Trojans will bring it back out. Dylan Burleson not going to call anything out. He's going to let them stay in it right now. And now the Falcons start to match up. They go inside. Cowan's shot blocked by Irons. Ball out of bounds. Saved. Goes back to Muscle Shoals. Cowan's threw it off a Falcon player. 3.36 to go in the game. Inbounds comes in the corner. Pritchard drives in the baseline. Laid it up and put it in. Falcons down to four quickly. Burnett in the corner. Crossover dribble goes baseline. Put it up and he's going to call a charge. That's the right call. Foul was called. And then another technical foul called on the freshman two. His stay will be over. 58-53. Burnett. And he's taking the coaching well from his head coach. So Florence down by five now. The Falcon team led it. By five. But Hogan's hits a free throw. They've hit six free throws in this quarter. 59-53. And now I love what Dylan Burleson's doing. Second free throw's good. He's brought Burnett back over. He's got his arm around him. He chewed him out pretty hard. And now he's come back and he's loving on him. And I'll take that. It's okay. The freshman knew he made a mistake. Coach got after him. Now the coach come back. Said, you're a freshman. I love you. A lot of basketball left to play in your career. Let's flush this one and get rid of it. Let's see if our team can pull it through. So the third or fourth player, four players have fouled out for Florence. Pearson, Burnett, Skipworth, and Roy have all fouled out. I'm telling you, folks, I'm going to have to get a jersey on before it's over with. Falcons down by seven now. Parrish up top to Hogan's. Full more on him. Swings around. Back to Parrish. Parrish double dribble. Almost got it back. Keeps around to Pritchard. Pains on Pritchard. Leave it now with Ogans. Ogans picked up by Fulmer. Pritchard on the wing. We're under three minutes to go and a seven-point lead for the Trojans. Cowans inside. Put it up. Missed it. Rebound taken down by Draper. Put it back up. Put it in. The size of Muscle Shoals paying dividends. They lead it 62-53. Payne got hit twice. No call. And now threw away. Tiptoe goes back to Florence. Down by nine. With 234 to go. And Florence just has to stay composed and try to make a basket. They haven't scored in a while. And they've let the Trojans get to the free throw line a ton. Payne has it. Double-teamed outside the three-point arc to Irons. Irons looking. Gets it to Green. Green hands it off to Jones. Jones spits the lane. Went it up. Blade it up. No good. Green put it up. No good. Rebound by Irons. Put it in. Lead cut down to seven. Timeout on the floor. We'll do the same. Falcon basketball back in 30. In a fourth quarter where the Florence Falcons lost some composure unusually, they have been very composed for the past couple of years, but tonight some things didn't go the way. It was really a tough break, I felt like, in the first one, but they had three technical fouls. They've had four guys to foul out. One of them was for saying something. That's always going to get you a technical foul. The other two were maybe, I don't know, retaliation, maybe a bump or something. Nothing that flagrant, I didn't think, but enough to warrant it. The officials are veteran crew. They know what they're doing. They are three of the best. And Florence down by seven. Falcon basketball right in front of me and 700 fans. Inbounds pass comes for the Trojans in backcourt. Fullmer picking up there with Hogan's. Hogan's is fouled in backcourt. He'll go blind and shoot two more. 2-0-5 to go, and Hogan's, who's been to the free-throw line, has six points in this quarter, all at the charity strike. Missed that one. He has nine points, seven of them from the free-throw line. Florence has well over 5,000 this quarter. Muscle Shoals has one. Free-throw good. That gives him 10 on the day. And the lead up to eight with two minutes to go in the game. Fullmer, left wing to Jones. Jones got a step, goes baseline, put it up, and it's in, and he's fouled. And Draper is really doing all he can to try to entice the Falcons to say stuff. And then wants to point. The foul will be called on Cowan, his third. And Jones will go to the line to try to complete the three-point play and cut it down to five. Got it. Not over yet. Muscle Shoals basketball backcourt down the right sideline. And Florence playing without four players who have fouled out. In the lane. Hogan slept good. Florence will have to answer back. Down by seven with a minute 40. Payne. Yo-yo's with it. Step back three. In and out. Wouldn't go. Rebound by Draper. Draper hands it off to Pritchard. So many players have four fouls. Not sure who you can tell to go foul. Devontae Green has four. And now a foul called on Payne. And good sportsmanship by Payne who picked up. I think that is Hogan's who got a foul. Actually, it's Pritchard who fouled. Yep. Pick him up. Two free throws coming for number 10 for Muscle Shoals. Burski will check into the game for Green. Maybe that call was on Green. Maybe it was the fifth foul on Green. Free throw up good. The Trojans have won 11 to 12. And they're living where they love to live. The free throw line. Missed that one. Rebound. She's down by Irons. Flourkins down by eight. Down the floor. Payne. He's triple team at the three-point line. Step through. Got it to Fulmer. Three on the way. Got it. Cooper Fulmer drains the three. Lead down to five. Trouble getting in. Finally getting into Hogan's. Ball knocked away. Hogan's gets it back. Hogan's goes coast to coast. And he's fouled on the other end. With 1.03 to go. Burski picked up the first foul. And then once again to the line. Hogan's. Hogan's free throw. Got it. The Trojans have hit ten free throws in this quarter. Hogan's has eight of them. 67-61. Six-point lead. Make it seven. As he hit nine on his own. Under a minute to go as we cross the midcourt strike with Payne. Payne to the lane. Lost it. Saved it by Flores. But right to a Trojan. Trojans have it in backcourt. Fulmer now trying to get Perrish. And Files Perrish in backcourt. With 49.5 and a seven-point game. Tough break there by Payne. He lost it going up. And it's saved by Burski. But it went right back to a Trojan. And the Trojans back to the free throw line. Gavin Perrish. Free throw good. I have the Trojans with 16 free throws in the second half. They lead it by eight. Second free throw no good. Eight-point game. Down the floor. Jones. Put it up. Got it to go. Timeout taken. The last of the day by Florence is Dylan Burleson. We'll do the same. Florence down 69-63. Falcon basketball returns in 30 seconds. Hi. I'm Dr. Brady Citizen with Treehouse Children's Dentistry. We're so excited to see you soon at Treehouse Children's Dentistry, a branch of Singing River Dentistry. 41 seconds to go and Florence trails by six with no timeouts. Florence playing shorthanded now because of players fouling out. Burnett, Roy, Green, Pearson, and Skipworth. Five players have fouled out of this game. Unfortunately, Florence has picked up three technical fouls, I think, in this quarter. It started with one that was questionable to the Falcon fans, I think. The other two, I didn't see one, so I can't comment really on it. It happened away from me, and then the third one, the Falcon player said something, and you shouldn't have done it out of frustration. So with 41 seconds to go, Muscle Shoes will have the basketball leading by six. Pritchard to inbound it, gets it inbounds. Draper in backcourt, that's who you want to foul, and they finally get it called. I'm not sure they call the foul alone. They'll be on irons. 69-63. Free throws coming in, and Draper has got the first one to go. He's got nine on the day. Florence did a good job against Cowan in the second half, as both free throws are good. There's the free throw line that made a difference. Jones goes coast to coast and laid it in for Florence with 32 sacks. He goes six-point game. Trojans inbound it, fouled in backcourt with 28 seconds to go. Jones unofficial with 21. Jones might be a career high for him today. Checked it, it might be 19. 19 for Jones. Free throw missed one here. Six-point game, still not over with 28.1. Need a miss and a quick three. The clock will continue to run. Free throw missed that one, too. Rebound by irons. Gets it up the floor. Jones has it. Jones pull up. Nope. In the lane. Lost it, and he's fouled. So the clock will stop at 21 seconds. He'll shoot free throws. Dylan Burleson is masterful. Oh, by the way, that's only the second team foul. Third team foul, so they can't shoot free throws. Excuse me. Inbounds to Fulmer. Fulmer gets it off to Payne. Payne trying to get a three off, and he's fouled. Now there'll be the fourth team foul with 16.6. Still can't get to the free throw line. Dylan Burleson calling out a separate play. Inbound pass underneath. Got it in to Burski. Burski puts it up, and it will not go. Rebound taken by Draper, and he's fouled in backcourt, and that should do it. 71-65. The Trojans lead it by six. Irons just fouled out of the game, I'm pretty sure. Well, maybe not. Fourth foul on him. Free throws coming for Draper of Muscle Shoals. Rolled that one in. 72-65. This game was competitive, close. It looked like it was going to go down to the wire, and Florence lost a little composure. It was the second free throw, no good. Fulmer is going to bring it up the floor now. Jones will go all the way in. He's fouled to put it in, and they're going to give him the basket. I'm going to give Jones 21 with a chance to make 22 with a seven-point game now. 72-65. I thought they hadn't gave that basket yet. That was a five-point game, but we'll see. Free throw up, no good. Rebound tipped out. Florence misses on purpose, but Pritchard gets the ball back, just throws it up, and a layup will go up and in. And Muscle Shoals will win it 72-65. So Trojans win it 72-65. Back here at Muscle Shoals High School, where Florence falls to the Trojans 72-67. Florence students now exiting out. They were loud and proud. They should be proud of themselves. A great student section tonight. But Florence could not get the win. It involved 72-67 to a really good Muscle Shoals team, who has now won 12 of the last 13. It was a close game for Florence in the first half. Florence led it early by a score of 18-11. Excuse me, check that. 14-10. Then they led it 31-28 at the half. They still led it by one at the end of 3-45-44, but the Trojans put up a 28 spot in the fourth quarter. Many of those coming from free throws via Florence mistakes, whether it be mental mistakes and our fouls. And the Trojans win it by five, 72-67. You take away the technical fouls, and maybe it's a different game. But, hey, that's part of it. It's a learning process. Dylan Burleson will talk to his team about that. They'll go on the road tomorrow to play Pinson Valley and then get ready for next week to close out the season in regular season style. And we're looking forward to that with you as well. The Trojans were leading the score, and we'll say Gavin Parrish had six. Fourteen for Hogan's, who had 10 of those from the free throw line. Cowan ended up with 21. He only had three in the second half, having an 18-point first half. Draper ended up with 11. Pritchard had, I got eight with him, and ten points for Keene all in the third quarter. He might have been the difference in the game. He got hot, made a couple of threes, and that's why the Trojans won at 72-67 for the Florence Falcons. Tay Jones led the Falcons tonight, unofficially had him with 21 points. Pearson had nine points, two for Roy, three for Fulmer. Also had seven for Irons, four for Burnett, and 12 for Kevontae Green. For the Falcons fall to the Trojans. They split the season. Both teams went in at home. Great high school game. Great high school action. Great high school crowd.
