Now let's join the Falcons radio crew live from the stadium for pregame coverage. In region play for the Florence Falcons, they sit atop the leaderboard. A win tonight over a dangerous Huntsville Panthers team and the Falcons could be starting making plans for postseason play. Welcome to Florence Falcons football. Hello everyone, I'm Kevin Johnson, voice of the Florence Falcons, and welcome to the T&T. T&T Fireworks pregame show tonight as the sun sets in the Rocket City and the lights come on at Milton Frank. It's the biggest game of the Falcons this season, no doubt about it, as they're 4-1 in region play and look to try to go to 5-1 and solidify a chance to go to postseason for sure. We're joined now by my good friend, Mike Albertson, my color analyst, and Mike, man, this is what you sign up for to play right here. Absolutely. You know, this game, both teams are in a great position and, you know, have their destiny in their hands, and this is going to be one of those matchups that we look back at, and this could very well, you know, solidify some things for either team tonight. We are weeks away from playoffs, but yet this week has seemed like, even for me and probably for our crew, it feels like a playoff-type atmosphere already. You feel like this is a big-time playoff-type game for this Florence team. Oh, this certainly is. This region is still log-jammed and up for grabs, and with Huntsville knocking off Austin earlier on, you know, this game, you know, this matchup has been more emphasized as the season has gone on, so, you know, the Florence Falcons do come in at 4-1 and Huntsville 3-2, but, you know, whoever wins this game with tiebreaker scenarios and everything starts really holding all the cards as the season goes on. We are set up high atop on the visitor's side of Milton Frank Stadium here in this venerable old stadium. We're high atop that. They have a nice little covering for us here. We want to say a big shout-out to the Florence High School video team that's been helping us out. Mainly one young man, Sam Irons, who helped us out tonight. Sam's over here to our right, and he helped us out. We appreciate that. We want to give him a shout-out for helping us out. Good to see not only the team, but the managers, VDR, everybody's involved, aren't they, Mike? Oh, this is a, you know, this is obviously a team effort. I mean, you know, from the administration on down, from, you know, from the school, the teachers, the student body, the cheerleaders, I mean, everybody's involved, and this is what makes Florence one big, great community. Mike, let's talk about this Florence team. Last week, they took care of business, as we thought they should against Grissom, but the way they did it was quite impressive. Oh, absolutely. Florence jumped out right away and took control of the game. A lot of the times, you're playing against an opponent, you play up and down to your competition a little bit. Florence didn't do that. They just came in. They handled their business. By the mid-third quarter, they were able to really start emptying the bench and getting a lot of subs and getting a lot of good reps for the future, and so Florence really taking that game from start to finish against a Grissom team that had some really good athletes on the field, but Florence just left it without a doubt, you know, pretty much by halftime, and as the game went on, they really sealed the deal. We're about 50 minutes plus away from kickoff of this between Florence and Huntsville tonight here at Milton Frank Stadium. Kevin Johnson, Mike Albertson with you. Looking forward to it. By the way, you can download the 93.9 The Score app and listen to this game anywhere at any time, and also, we have them archived and go back and podcast and listen to any of our broadcasts as well. Lots of people enjoy doing that, and we appreciate them listening in to 93.9 The Score. Mike, games like this can be decided by a few coaching decisions, here or there. This could be a chess match tonight in many ways. Oh, absolutely. You know, these close games versus good teams really do come down to like one or two big plays, and, you know, with these two teams, the way that they've matched up over the years, you know, while Florence has had the overall matchup 13-4, this game is generally a lot closer than most games throughout the season, so with Florence and Huntsville both jockeying for position and everything, I mean, a couple years ago, it came down to, you know, a trick play in the end zone to really solidify some things here for the Falcons, so, you know, with those situations. But it's going to come down to ball control and really field position. The field position battle is going to be huge tonight. I've been with the Florence Falcons basically from the very beginning. There's so many incredible games I think about in Florence and Huntsville. Kevin Weissman, former coach at Huntsville High School, former principal at Florence High School. We appreciate all he did for both high schools. He made both of them better, by the way. He was a part of this game, and bless his heart, it seemed like every time that he looked over at the Florence team, they were pulling something out of the hat, whether it was here one night when it was a mud bowl. There had actually been rain all week at Milton Frank. It was a grass field, and they'd actually played a game, I believe, maybe either the night before or the afternoon before, and we played Huntsville that night, and by the third quarter, there was no grass. It was just complete mud, and Florence with Sean Southward taking over in a different number jersey. As Kevin Weissman tells the great story, he told them all the time, be looking for number 27 and number 35 or something like that was the jersey he put on at halftime because of the jersey change, and they said, Coach, we didn't find 27. They said, that's him. He's in 35. Catch him, you know. Too late. He went off, and Florence won that one 21-7. Double overtime win a couple years ago. Had great games at Brawley Stadium, including, in 2007, the first area championship, and it was an area or region championship game. The winner of that game wins the region, and Florence intercepts a pass late and returns it for a pick six to seal a victory against Huntsville. So when these two teams get together, usually they're at the top, and usually there's something at stake. We know that it's going to happen again tonight. And by the way, tonight, this week, I could not get with head coach Kenny Morrison. He was out of pocket a little bit. I was out of pocket, so we didn't get to mesh up to have our pregame interview with him. We'll catch him there at the half, or excuse me, right before he goes in for the locker room in a few minutes. But instead of having a coach's interview, why don't we have a little trivia time for my whole crew? I'll bring in Jeffrey Jones, John McDaniel. Guys, are y'all doing well tonight? Yes, sir. We're ready to go. All right to be here. Hey, and by the way, where was the meal tonight, JJ? Bob Baumheimer's Victory Grill, and it was excellent. It was excellent. They did us right. We appreciate them as well. Well, here's a couple of little-known facts about Huntsville football. Huntsville has been playing since 1903. They have faced several Scholes area teams, including Deschler and Russell, but they even lost to Cherokee one time. They played Hazelwood several times, and they played Lauderdale County, and they played Sheffield several times. So they've played several over 100 years. They have played several Scholes area teams. KJ, what was that first game like? That first game in 1903? That's the one I was going to talk about. We'll get to that in a minute, but Kevin Wiesman said that it was really amazing, and I'll get with him about that later, too. You took the joke out from under me on that. I appreciate that. How many times have the Panthers, and especially for Jeffrey Jones, how many times did the Panthers face the Coffee Yellow Jackets? Oh, while I was there? No, no. I mean, the whole time. How many times have they played over the years? It was at least three while I was there, so I'm going to say 33. 33, anybody want to go higher than that or lower than that? I'm going to go one. I'm going to be like Price is Right without going over. All right, I'll hit the over. I'll do 55. 55. Boy, I tell you what, John, you went over, but you were close. I believe if I'm not mistaken. And actually, no, your under actually was 62. 62. So 62 times. Coffee won 32 times. Huntsville won 28, and they had two ties. Now, how many times did Huntsville and Bradshaw play over the years? Not near as many. Well, that's right. Bradshaw started in 67. I'll say 68, maybe. 22. 22. Good number. 23. 23. All right, without looking it up there, John. It's not on there. Okay, that's good. Appreciate that. All right, I'm just being honest. I'll take, what was the numbers? What did you have? 22 and 23. Well, let's hit 31. How about zero? They never, ever played. Never, ever played. That's why he couldn't find it. That's right. That's why I know who the cheater is. I mean, here, Kirby Smart over here to my right. Got to find him already. All right. How many times we talked about that? Huntsville's biggest loss was understandable. In 1913, they lost 86 to zero. Do you know who their opponent was? I'll give you a hint. It's an opponent from the Shoals area. Oh, I was going to say Huffman. UNA. The UNA Lions is exactly right. It was Florence State Technical College or University Teachers College. They played back in those days. Obviously, Alabama's played a couple of high schools. And UNA, which was at that time Florence State, played Huntsville and beat them 86 to zero in 1913. That was the game Kevin Wiesman did not coach in, but he was a ball boy. I remember that one. Okay. All right. Florence State College won that one. All right. Speaking of Coffey and Bradshaw, who was the last win for both schools for Coffey and Bradshaw? In 2003, Bradshaw's last win, who was it against? Anybody want to remember? It was against Jess Lanier. Jess Lanier is what he says. Okay. He set up with a lot of confidence. Anybody want to guess? How about they beat Wilson 20 to 12? That was their last win in 2003. Coffey's last victory. Was in 2002. Against? Muscle Shoals. Nope. Coffey beat Brewer 55 to 10. And Coffey beat Brewer 55 to 10. And that was the last time that those two teams played. So just a little trivia there as we're having fun tonight on the TNT Fireworks pregame show. Huntsville on the field right now warming up in all red. Falcons in their road whites with blue helmets, blue pants. It's going to be a good one tonight. You're listening to Florence Falcons football. We're back in one minute. Welcome back to the TNT Fireworks pregame show, Florence Falcons football, 93-9 the score. You're home for Florence Falcons football and athletics since 2004. Kevin Johnson, Mike Albertson, Jeffrey Jones, Sean McDaniel, all glad to be with you here as we are taking on the Huntsville Panthers on the road tonight are the Florence Falcons in a big, big matchup. And Mike, Florence offense showed a lot of diversity, including heavy package on short yardage and a lot of guys touched the ball. Yes, I mean, last week, the Falcons put a lot of formations out there and threw out a lot of different route trees by the wide receivers and such. Being able to put a lot of that on film and frustrate defenses has been, you know, kind of what the Falcons were looking to do last week. And I think they did a pretty good job. I mean, they distributed the ball well and being able to get the ball out into some playmakers' hands out in the space. It's going to be one of those situations where you can't key on any one guy for the Falcons. And so the Huntsville is going to have their hands full tonight. Well, and I tell you what, the Florence Falcons will, too, have their hands full. It's a very even game. And I believe these two teams very evenly match. But one place that Huntsville is really good is on that defensive line. And Mike, the biggest task tonight could be the offensive line. How will they handle this defensive line? What is the key for them? You know, I think, you know, getting it out of the quarterback's hands quick, get it out to the wide receivers, really test the edges of this defense. You know, that defensive line is going to be in the backfield a good bit. We see that from some of the defensive lines that haven't been as strong. So just being able to get it out and really take it to them. As far as being able to hold the line and everything is concerned, we need a big game from this offensive line. We saw it against Bob Jones. We need one of those caliber nights again tonight if we think that we're going to be able to move the ball with any regular success. Let's welcome in our third member of the crew, our Uber driver, our sideline reporter, our man that keeps everybody on their toes for whatever we do, Mr. Jeffrey Jones. JJ, last week was relaxing from the big win. But tonight, Florence will have to, well, buckle up because it's going to be a four-quarter game. Yeah, we're going to see a tale of two teams because last week they were in the driver's seat the whole time. This week it's going to be a lot different. This is the best Huntsville team we've seen that I can remember maybe since before the Wiesman years. I don't know. You know, a little jab at him. But, you know, I'm not used to seeing this kind of Huntsville team that I'm very, you know, used to. Grissom and Huntsville kind of wouldn't chalk those up as a win. Not the case tonight. This is an outstanding Huntsville team. They have some weaknesses, but they've come up with some good quality wins as well as being able to show some strength in the fourth quarter of his last few games. Florence gained some confidence last week, but overconfidence can just go the opposite way. How do you keep the right mindset that even killed him this year, JJ? Well, so I think that, you know, we had a gimme game last week. We'll just call it what it is. And we knew it going in. We knew that probably the whole team was going to play or we hoped it. And we got the results that we wanted. That is not the case with the Huntsville Panthers. We got to keep our foot on the gas. Now, I think that we're getting Huntsville at the right time. You know, our coaches, our players have all meshed. They've all gelled the last few weeks. Everything's been going pretty good, but we got to keep that momentum going. Can't sit back and rest. And I think, you know, our guys, they've been preached to all week. They know what's on the line. They know what's at stake. So I'm confident that we're going to come out. Now, we could come out dead. If we come out dead, it's going to be a hard road recovery. I'll say that. But if we stay focused and take care of the task at hand, the Huntsville certainly, as we talked about on the way over here, Huntsville's certainly beatable. But we're not going to be able to play the game we played against Bob Jones. We're not going to be able to play the game we played against James Clemens. We're going to have to play the Bob Jones type. Yeah, it's got to be an A or B game, I think, to have a chance to not have a doubt about it. One last thing, how about this special teams, Charlie Graves, Parker Greenhall, dual weapons. You know, that's a big thing to have both those kickers that can come in, whether it be kickoffs or extra points or field goals, they've all done a great job. Sometimes those mop-up games like we had last week are good to get valuable experience. So Charlie struggled with two extra points, you know, one of them dinged off the crossbar. But he also hit a 42-yarder, which was his, by far, career-long. It hit the upright, not the crossbar, but I know what you're saying. It hit the pole there. It hit something. So, you know, and they were able to switch. So then Greenhall got one or two extra points in, and Charlie came in to do the kickoffs when they switched them up. So I think it's very important for us to stay, you know, diverse in what they do because we're one kick away from pulling a hamstring or some sort of injury. So I'm confident in both kickers to do both jobs at this point. They've both been very solid. And, you know, I'm getting used to this having a good kicker thing. That's nice, isn't it? It is nice. Nice snappers and kickers and holders. I like this. I think that the future still looks bright. You know, we struggled with kickers for quite a while. You know, we didn't have confidence in the kickers anywhere inside the 25-yard line. Well, that's not the case today. And today I will put our kicker up there against any of the other kickers in our region by far. And, by the way, Mike Albertson, nice to have a return man like Jay Shott Pearson who turned the game last week or two weeks ago. Oh, absolutely. You know, Jay Shott was able to really turn the game on. And, you know, you're going to see him in different spots tonight. Just being able to have him on the field and being able to use him in many diverse ways is really going to create havoc for any defense. Being able to account for him at any point is going to be super important. When he gets the ball, it can be electric and really change the game. So Huntsville's got to keep their eye out for that. I'll tell you somebody I also have confidence in, that's James Moody. He is our engineer in the 93.9 The Score Studios. He'll be giving you updates as our studio host tonight. Throughout the night, he'll be a part of the AHSAA Scoreboard Show, too, from 10 to midnight, giving you updates on scores from around North Alabama. James Moody, I'll let you take it away at this time. Thank you, Kevin. Yes, we'll be keeping up with a whole cornucopia of sports tonight with Thanksgiving fast approaching. So we have a score from last night. Brooks defeated Lexington 49-21. Coming up tonight, we'll be following all the games, including but not limited to James Clemens and Austin, also Red Bay and Decatur Heritage, Schultz-Christian Hackleberg, Hartzell-Jasper, Calvert Heights-Mars Hill, Lauderdale County, Rogers, Phillips, and Waterloo. We also have some Tennessee scores. We have a fairly decent slate of college ball tonight. Louisville and Miami are currently in the first quarter, Louisville leading 7-0. We also have Nebraska-Minnesota, Cal and North Carolina, San Jose State, Utah State, and we'll be keeping track of the baseball playoffs. Currently in the fifth, the Mariners are leading the Blue Jays 1-0, and the Dodgers and the Brewers are coming up later, and the Brewers have to win to stay alive. So we'll be keeping track of all that. Like Kevin said, we'll be over the scoreboard at 10 o'clock, and so join us then. Now back to the stadium for more of the pregame show. Thank you, James Moody. We're here at Milton Frank Stadium. It's about 32 rows up. As many times as Jeffrey Jones will go up and down his stadium tonight, he'll need some stretchology before it's over with. Don't you think so, guys? I think that's going to be, you know, key. If he's going to keep and be limber. Be limber. Yeah, he'll need that stretchology. I'm not sure that's a word, to be honest with you. Yeah, I'm not sure. We weren't either until you used it on the way down here, but we appreciate that. Really sell me out, huh? For sure. Hey, let's talk with our good friend, John McDaniel, who is our statistician. We've already introduced him earlier today. And, John, quarterback Cade Davis has been a pleasant surprise. Why is he so successful lately? He has been doing a terrific job of playing on time. What does that mean? He is on time with his feet. On routes and quarterback play, three-step, five-step, seven-step, the drops matter for the timing. He has got his feet set. He's in time. He knows what he's doing. And he's playing very confident. He's standing tall in the pocket. And when his receiver comes open, he is hitting them as they come out of their break. The guys, he's putting the ball right on the target. Correct shoulder placement, keeping them out of harm's way. But his confidence is, you've seen it grow every week, how well he's played. And his passing, he's playing well enough to be the first-string all-area quarterback. I agree. I think he's got a chance for all-region as well. I think that's very possible for him if he continues to play the way he has and matured so much. It's been one of the great surprises, maybe not hate surprises, but just really a great job of him this year as well. Let's talk about, John, this Huntsville team. They impressed on film, especially up front. They're doing a terrific job, yeah. They've got playmakers all over the field. Starting when I first watched film, the first thing that jumped out was their D-line. They play a 4-2 scheme, and their front four are not quite as good as Muscle Shoals, but they're in that same league. They've got a 6'4", 240-pound defensive end who is a junior now that is probably going to get some high Division I offers. They're possibly an SEC-type player. Their other side is like 6'3", 230, and a couple of really big interior players. We're going to call their names a lot, and that's what first jumps out. The offensive line, we're talking 260s, 280s, two tackles. One is committed to James Madison. He's a 6'5", 280 guy. One of their guards is committed to UNA. He's a 6'4", 275, two, something like that. He's going to be playing at the next level. Quarterback, Kevin, 6'6". He's the biggest one we've seen this year. He's got a terrific arm and deceptive speed. So, all in all, this is going to be the most talented Huntsville team we've seen in years. It's not a David and Goliath game, but I will say this. I think Huntsville may have several of Goliath's relatives because they are big guys. Ten guys over 6'4". They are a huge team, so we'll keep an eye on that tonight as well. We talked about how much this Huntsville team is impressed, but Falcons have been pretty impressive too. Last week, the defense really impressed with a shutout. And you've got to think, defensive coordinator Harold Wisdom seems to have found a good mix of what he wants out of this team on that side of the ball. Yeah, I got to talk with my former teammate, Harold, tonight before the game. He was talking about how much he's proud he is of this group and how well they are meshing now. In my experience, it takes a while to get comfortable in a defense. And they're playing in a different type scheme. But Harold was telling me that he's empowered the kids to be able to make it their own unit. And they are able to make checks and make calls themselves on the field. He gives them the reads and they're doing it. And so a lot of these plays that we're seeing, the kids are making. It's not coming from the sideline. And as you've seen it over the season, they're playing a little faster and a little faster because they're thinking a little less, it's more comfortable. And, you know, we've seen Coach Wisdom do some terrific schemes. I believe it was Bob Jones that he kind of threw a curveball at him. And it was just terrific dropping a player into coverage every time. So he's doing a great job. And the kids are playing well, but they're understanding what they want from each other. That's well said by all my guys here on the crew. They know their stuff. I get bragged on them a lot. They do a great job. They prepare. They know the team. And they do their good job of giving you a great hour-long pregame on the TNT Fireworks pregame show. Big thank you to Garner Pierce Otto. They'll take care of you with a new vehicle coming up on the holidays. They took care of the Falcon radio crew tonight. We appreciate them. The nice vehicle on the ride over to the Rocket City. And also a shout-out to our good friends at Lost Pizza in Florence. Lost Pizza will have pizza ready for you all weekend long for that big Alabama-Tendency game, which you'll hear right here on 93.9 The Score tomorrow night. Go by before the game. Get that great couple, two or three pizzas. Take home with you. Or stay there and watch the game at the restaurant. What a festive atmosphere. That's Lost Pizza in historic downtown Florence. Have you ever seen those halftime scholarships where you have to nail a 40-yard field goal? Yeah, this isn't that. I didn't have to write a long essay or audition or make a half-court shot. I just had to open a bank independent account, use my debit card, sign up for online banking, and have a positive balance. That's it. A 20% scholarship to UNA. Kevin Johnson, Mike Albertson, high atop Milton Frank Stadium on the good side. That's the visitor's side tonight. Falcon fans filing in. The Falcon cheerleaders are here. And the Falcon team is definitely here warming up as they get ready for this big key region matchup against the Panthers at Huntsville High School. And, Mike, last week, number two, the point guard, the veteran, the leader, Jay Shot Pearson, he caught a pass. In a game like this, could he be maybe one that gets some more reps on the offensive side? Who knows? I mean, look, you know, I think one of the previous coaches, who shall remain nameless because I don't want to throw anybody out there like that, but he was talking about a game that he had coached in the past. And he said, you know, there was one game and it was a big playoff game that he was watching some of the best players in the state sitting on the sideline because it wasn't their side of the ball. And he said, never again allow a player of that caliber to not have a hand in the game. And so, Jay Shot Pearson is that kind of dynamic player where if he's not on – yes, he's a great defender, but if he's not on the offensive side during these big games and big plays, you know, we're leaving a lot left on the table. So, just like let's – you know, we're talking about burning the boats. We might as well burn the boats, put him out there, and really try and create havoc for that defense. He is that type of game changer that he could really make some plays to help this team win. Yeah, I won't say his name either, but best of luck to Orange Beach tonight. They've got a big game down in South Alabama. And, John, a team like Huntsville, big pass rush, we've talked about that. Especially with the Ukrainian Grizzly, they call him Michael Choby, number 90. You'll hear his name called a lot. How do you counter that if you're an offense coordinator in Cade McGuire? Well, I've always believed when you've got a pass rush that is this good, the idea is to tire them out. That's the only way to get these guys to where they're not playing and dominating a game is you have to put pressure on them. And how do you do that? You do screens. You do swing passes. You invite them in and throw it over their head. Good coach defensive players are going to immediately turn and run, so now you're having them run upfield and then retrace and run back towards the ball every time. I believe in the first half, getting it on the edges, quick passes, quick screens to the wide receivers. Plays that are wide for the running back, making them run from sideline to sideline, trying to get them out because you've got to get them. They're going to play well in the first half. You've got to get them tired, and the number of plays has got to be high, so these guys in the second half aren't playing as well. By the way, switching over to college just for a minute, how about an update? Louisville, 14, number two, ranked Miami, zero early in that one on a Friday night. We'll keep you updated on that one, but that one does raise eyebrows. A 14-0 game with the Cardinals winning. That is going to be one we'll keep an eye on throughout the night. I'm really excited about this game for Florence. It's going to be interesting. It will be a tale of two teams, one big and strong, very physical team. It has a speedster wide receiver in Huntsville, Mr. Grissom. And then Florence, as you know, a team that has really gone to the pass a lot and relied on the pass. And Mike, the passing game, we're not used to it, but that's where our bread and butter is being for this game. We found a niche in it and ride with it. Oh, absolutely. You know, we have some receivers that are really doing a great job with their hands getting open and giving Cade a nice, good target. Cade's been delivering a beautiful ball. His touch has improved as the season has gone on. Just his ability to develop as a quarterback over the last two seasons, you're seeing it week in and week out. So it's been great. And so while Florence is traditionally pretty run heavy, they've been able to distribute the ball through the air a little bit and, you know, while it's been a change of pace, you know, just being able to get the ball downfield and get points on the board is the name of the game, and that's what they're doing. The Panthers of Huntsville High School, I should say the Crimson Panthers, I think they still go by the Crimson Panthers, are coached by Jimmy Gay. He's in his second season. For a long time he was assistant at Muscle Shoals High School with Scott Basin, the head coach there, and he and Scott Basin were teammates on those championship teams for the University of North Alabama. So we know about that as well. And he is an excellent coach. Kenny Marson in his fourth season at Florence High School for the Falcons. He's been to playoffs each year with the Falcons. And when he was in his tenure in Tennessee, he won a state championship. Huntsville is 5-2 on the season. They are 3-2 in region play. Florence is 4-3 on the season. But more importantly, Florence is 4-1 in region play. They have a half-game lead over the Panthers. And if a win tonight would really put the Falcons in great shape and put the Panthers in a hole. But a win by Huntsville would really shake everything up. And we'd have to keep an eye on where this would go with play. Florence defeated Grissom last week, 43-0. Huntsville, well, they had a shutout too. They shutout Albertville last week. So, you have both teams playing well, both teams with really good job on defense. And the defenses have been showing up and showing out for both teams. And that's going to be something to keep an eye on, which team's defense can make the big play, make something happen. Let's go down to Jeffrey Jones, who has the head coach, Kenny Marson, with him. Coach, beautiful night for football, isn't it? Absolutely. Great night. So, seeing a different kind of Huntsville team this year than the one that we're not really used to as far as their strength on both sides of the ball. Tell us a little bit about it. Yeah, up front, both sides, D-line, O-line, really big up front. Obviously, you know, we're small and a little more quicker than they are. You know, we hope speed wins out versus strength up front. You know, we've got our skill guys. We feel like if we can get them in space, we match up well on the perimeter. They've got a speedster, Grissom at receiver. We have a good plan to stop him? Gerard Powell. Jay Shot Pearson. Awesome. No doubt. I was just talking about Gerard Powers a minute ago to him, comparing him, Jay Shot, to him. Jay Shot will lock him down. So, as far as staying focused, you know, we know how important this game is. The kids know how important this game is. What's your strategy throughout the week to keep them focused and keep them on the task at hand? Just worrying about us. Not worrying about who the opponent is. Just taking care of us each week. Just taking care of us each week. In practice, every rep's got to be about us getting better. And then we'll worry about it once it kicks off who our opponent is. Thanks for having me, Coach. Thank you. That's Coach Kenny Marson of the Florence Falcons. I don't mind him saying about Gerard Powers, the great guy that he coached at Decatur. Went on to have an NFL career after his time at Auburn in about 10 years, I think it was, right at it for the NFL. And to compare Jay Shot Pearson to him, that's a high compliment to Jay Shot Pearson. When we come back, we'll continue our way to kickoff. You're listening to TNT Fireworks' pregame show. Tonight, the Florence Falcons invade the largest city in the state of Alabama, and as they take on the Huntsville Crimson Panthers, they'll have a lot to deal with. Much like the city of Huntsville, the Crimson Panther football team seems to be larger than the average team. With towering linemen and a 6'6'' senior quarterback, this will be a tall task for Florence tonight. It won't be an easy job for the Florence Falcons to fly into Milton Fraga Stadium and swoop home a victory tonight. However, if the Florence Falcons can continue their momentum from a three-game winning streak and continue to come up with the big plays at the right time, maybe tonight the Falcons can dart around the Rocket City and cause some chaos. One thing is for sure, both teams go into this game controlling their own postseason destiny in many ways, but a victory tonight by the Florence Falcons would put the boys in blue in the top spot going into the final week of region play. It's time to spread our wings and go on a panther hunt. Florence Falcons football, it starts right now. Beautiful sunset in Huntsville, Alabama, Milton Frank Stadium, Kevin Johnson, Mike Albertson, Jeffrey Jones, John McDaniel on the TNT Fireworks pregame show of Florence Falcons football here live with you. We're about 25 and a half minutes away from kickoff with this key matchup in Class 7A Region 4. And, you know, this is going to be a big one tonight, Mike. And one of the things we need is we talked about Jay Shodd Pearson. You heard Coach Kenny Marson talk about him. But the other side, there's a young man that has stepped into a role as the starter for a cornerback named Ja'Kylan Jones. He has stepped into that place and made plays. He's been impressive. He certainly has. And, you know, like we've had some really excellent corners over the last several years. And, you know, it seems as though we're developing these guys quite well because Ja'Kylan Jones has stepped in. He's done a great job this year, improved each week. Over the last couple of weeks, he's had an interception and fumble recovery. He's jumped some routes and defended a lot of passes. But he's really stepped up. And, I mean, even some of the pretty big hits that he's been able to lay on some people, it doesn't make it easy for any wide receiver to go up and catch the ball when they know they're going to get popped like that. So he's just done a great job and been a formidable force in that Falcon defense. We talked about earlier about how important it was to throw the ball and how Florence has found that passing game. But the running game's got to give us some balance, too. And that's going to be a big part of this game. Florence has got to get some positive things out of the run game. How do they do it? You know, absolutely. I totally agree with that. You know, balance being needed, it keeps the defenses honest. And just being able to get the ball going. But being creative with some of the things. I mean, we have a tendency to kind of run in similar plays, especially in the run game, where the guys kind of know what's coming and when it's coming. So being able to get the ball out there, use a little eye candy, use a little jet sweep look every once in a while, just getting the linebacker's eyes fixated on something else. But the run game's going to be super important to open things up. When the Falcons are at their best, they're able to both run and pass the ball. It's like kind of equal distribution. But, you know, the last few weeks really pass heavy. And if we're going to have success tonight, we really need to be able to control the clock and running the ball is where it's at. John, that leads us right into the question, controlling the clock. When Florence doesn't do that, and there's been a couple games we have, we've really paid the price when we had time of possession go the other way. We sneaked out a win at James Clemens, giving up maybe about 25 more plays against them. But tonight against this Huntsville team, we've got to keep that time of possession pretty even. It's a very big key, and especially talking about on the defense. The time of possession, of course, leads to a fresh defense. And that's less about the specific scheme. Defensive is far more about everybody being on the same page and being able to play fast and hustle. Our guys, when they have, we have only won the time of possession battle, Kevin, in one game so far this season. That game, Bob Jones played our best game, held an undefeated team to under 200 yards of offense and 26 yards rushing for a game. So that's our best performance, and that shows that we can do, those are, this is the kind of game we're going to have to play. The way we played against Bob Jones, that effort, that execution tonight is going to be needed to take on a really talented, as we've mentioned several times, Huntsville, Crimson Panthers. Jeff Jones on the sideline. He's standing at the 43-yard line. My friend JJ, what's it like down there at Milton Frank Stadium, a place we've been before, artificial turf? But what's the atmosphere like, and what's the weather a little bit like tonight? So fans are starting to foul in a little bit on the Falcon side. It's perfect weather. I mean, it's, in my opinion, 75 degrees is the perfect temperature. It's going to drop down to probably around 70 degrees by the time of the fourth quarter. Not a bit of wind in the air. Beautiful Huntsville night with the horizon getting dark on the, to our west. It's, now, one thing that is for sure, Milton Frank is probably, it's the biggest stadium we'll play in this year. It's the biggest stadium that I can't think of a bigger one. Y'all might be able to help me out on that. But it's a big stadium, and Grissom and Huntsville don't tend to travel well, and they don't tend to come when they're at home either. So, you know, it kind of just depends on what kind of season they're having as far as the crowd goes. I do anticipate a little bit larger than normal crowd for the Huntsville High faithful tonight, just because of their season that they're having so far with some success. But, you know, for the most part, it's not going to be too loud. The home side and the wayside stands are in between. I mean, they're far back. So, you know, the band's going to have to play really loud if they're going to be a factor in this game. But, you know, I think, thankfully, Florence travels well. So, I think we're going to have a great crowd. They're filing in slowly from the gate, and I see a small line forming out there. So, this is going to be a good night for football. Cheerleaders, the big blue band are already in the stands here, ready for tonight's game for the Florence Falcons. A key win here. Let's look at the potential starting lineup for the Florence Falcons. Let's start on that offensive side, and let's go right to quarterback, Cade Davis, who has been outstanding for Florence. Davis comes in 71 of 106, 944 yards, 67% completion percentage. He's had 12 touchdowns and two interceptions on the year, and Davis has been a key at 6'4", 215 a senior. He'll wear number 11. He'll be throwing the ball to wide receivers, including Kevontae Green, who has 19 receptions on the year, 212 yards and five touchdowns. Green is 6'1", 215 pounds. He is only a junior. On the other side, Jimmy McDonald, 6'1", 170, a senior, 31 receptions, 580 yards, four touchdowns. Mike Albertson, Jimmy McDonald, just every week we have to mention a little more just because he keeps making plays week in, week out. He does, and, you know, like as the season's gone on, he's shown it more and more. He's made some tremendous plays where balls that are really difficult to catch in traffic. His ability to concentrate in those plays and be able to reel it in is huge, but he always finds separation and finds a nice green spot on the field to give Kate a nice target for him to get. And just his ability to make adjustments while the ball was in the air, too, is, I mean, I can't sing enough praises about the young man. He's done a fantastic job this year. Up front, they're going to have to play their best tonight. Jacob Harper, 5'11", 225, sophomore. Where's number 55? He'll be the center. On the sides of him will be the guards. Michael Shanes, 5'10", 220, a senior. Where's number 52? And we think Dre Moore will get the start tonight. 5'10", 235, a junior. Where's number 51? He's been injured a couple times. We think he'll be back tonight. T-Reader, Tavarius Reeder, 6'1", 275, senior will be the right guard at 77 is his number. And Javion Lewis, where's number 56, 6'4", 220, and a junior. He'll get the start at left tackle. On the outside, along with McDonald, by the way, in green, you'll hear John Carter, Goolsby. Goolsby is only a junior. He'll be out there some. He has nine receptions on the year, so Goolsby could be a key factor in a game like this tonight as well. And don't forget, we've got the H-back. He's been playing a lot, and that is LaShawn Shepard. Shepard has been outstanding for the Falcons in the game. But as you've seen this Falcon team over the past little bit, they've been sneaking a lot more players in and some skilled positions, trying to catch teams off guard and trying to make plays. So no telling who you may see on offense tonight. At running back, Kalon Triplett, Triplett senior, 5'10", 180. He leads the Falcons with 500, excuse me, 400 yards rushing, two touchdowns. And he has a couple of receptions on the year as well. Elijah Hines will join him as a sophomore, 5'9", 155. He has had a good season for a sophomore, no doubt. We're looking for a great career out of him before it's all over with. The punter, Steven Chivinata, he's the one of the best I've seen this year. Where's number 85? He'll be called upon from time to time, hopefully not too much tonight. And Charlie Graves will be the place kicker. Where's number 43? A senior. He has made two of two on his field goals, including a career-high 42-yarder just last week. So, again, excuse me, a couple weeks ago against Bob Jones, I think it was. So, congratulations to him. Or last week he was actually when he had the 42-yarder. Let me get that right. When he had the 42-yarder last week. And that's big. Big shout-out to our good friends at Garner Pierce Auto for our vehicle tonight, for our away games. We appreciate them helping us out and taking care of us as well. Tonight, Florence and Huntsville meet for the 18th time. Florence leads the series 13-4. Last season, Florence won it 34-7 at Brawley Stadium. But tonight's a new night, a new place, and a new team. We'll see how the Falcons do on the road at Milton Frank Stadium. When we come back, more on the TNT fireworks pregame show. 93 and out of the score. We're back in one minute. It's football time in Alabama. The players are hitting the field. The cheerleaders are firing up the crowd. The drum major is striking up the band. And we all stand for the national anthem. This is Congressman Robert Adderholt. While you cheer your favorite team this season, I'll be on President Trump's team shaking things up in Washington. When we stand on conservative principles, it's a win for everyone. I'm Robert Adderholt, and I approve this message. Paid for by Adderholt for Congress. We want to wish Coach Morrison and the Falcon football team good luck this season. Welcome back to TNT Fireworks pregame show. Kevin Johnson and the crew, glad to be with you. Florence on the road to take on Huntsville in this key matchup in Class 7A, Region 4. Mike Albertson, in a game like this tonight, the seniors are often the ones you want to see step up big. Will they, how can they, and why is that so important? You know, the senior leadership is always important. You know, kind of how the team goes is kind of how that senior class looks. And being able to make deep runs and have big plays in big games, it kind of really rests on the seniors. You know, really and truly, we've seen it in every sport and every situation. You know, the Falcon basketball team, they were a senior-laden team. They made a run, finished second in the state. You know, these Falcon seniors, they've been around this program. There's 24 of them, I believe that number's correct. And just having that kind of senior leadership and experience, you can't replicate it. Them being on the field is so super important. And they seem to come up with big plays as the season goes on. But in games like this, you really need them to take the lead in these high-pressure situations. John, winning third down on defense, forcing punts. Those are huge tonight. This game, every possession matters. Yeah, in a game where you anticipate it being close, you don't want to lose or give a team an extra possession. Lose one for yourself. We have been, especially last week, we were really good defensively on third down. Grissom was three for ten on third downs. And even the week before, James Clemens, they were five for 15. So our defense is doing a terrific job of getting the team off the field and getting the ball back to our offense. And that also leads to better field position. If you allow the team to convert a couple of first downs, they've now swapped field position. And conversely, offensively, last week, we did a great job of staying out of third down. We only had six attempts, but we were at 50%, three for six. Pretty good percentage-wise. So if the Falcons can have that same type of game plan, playing ahead of the sticks, keeping yourself out of third down plays, the Falcons will have a terrific night. Look forward to seeing how they try to do it. Our sideline reporter, Jeffrey Jones, is somewhere down there amongst the midst of people in tents and blue shirts. JJ, you still with us, my friend? I'm here. I figured you would be. First of all, we want to say a big shout-out to our good friends at Garner Pierce Auto. They took care of us tonight. How about that hemi? Yeah, so we got a Dodge Ram. How many times did I mention it on the way over here? I was like, this thing's fast. Then we got out and went to eat and had a 5.7 liter V8, at least a V8 Hemi. And I was like, man, that's what all those commercials are about. So good truck we came over in. And, you know, they really do. They take care of us every week, every away game. And they do it with a smile on their face, too. And I will give an update. Atticus is still the same old Atticus. All right. Yeah, I went in there. Today I was like, this is Atticus, right? He said, yeah. I said, Atticus is one of the best behaved dogs I've ever seen. He said, that's because he comes in here and he deals with people every day. And he's gotten used to it. He just chills. As long as you give him a little pet, he's good. He's worth going in there and checking him out for himself. But they also do automotive work, too. Any kind of shop work you need for your vehicle, they'll take care of your Garner Pierce Auto. That's a great commercial for them. I'll throw in for Lost Pizza, tremendous restaurant that's one of our sponsors here for our pregame. And they also take care of us on Friday night meals. We appreciate the good folks at Lost Pizza for taking care of us. They'll take care of you. They can do wraps for you. They can do pizzas for you. Tamales. Tamales are huge there. I know JJ loves those. And just a great atmosphere, great people, great service as well. We appreciate them at Lost Pizza. Guys, I'm going to throw this to all three of you. In a game like this, and I'll start with Mike, bag of tricks, do you open them up and why and where? I mean, great question. You know, but really and truly, it's those situations that, you know, you really need to turn the tide in the game. Those certain situations, they'll come up, you know, various times throughout the game. But, yes, you open them up. This is a game that's going to dictate the future, the playoffs, all that other stuff. And you leave no stone unturned at that point. So, being able to roll the dice every once in a while is huge. But you've got to find the right situations for it. Jeffrey Jones, we've seen Cade McGuire, the offensive coordinator for Florence, go into the bag of tricks on the first play of the season. He's done it in a couple of other games. And he seems to have a niche for doing it at the right time. He does do it at the right time. And, you know, it's the right play call at the right time. Sometimes the execution hasn't been there like it needs to be. But, you know, I was told late this summer that this McGuire kid is going to be going to be something else. And he has proven to be that. I heard him speak one time this summer. He's like, I'm a very patient offensive coordinator. And he's proven that to be true. And that's a good thing. I'm not patient when it comes to offense. I want to score quick and get the offense off the field so the defense can go back home. But he's been very methodical. Some long drives. Right play calls. At the right time. And he's very, very, very impressed with that young man. You know, Parker Driggers is another one. He helps out with the play calling as well. And, you know, honestly, it's got to feel good for Morrison to kind of step back and let these young guns do what they do. Those young bucks have done a nice job at offensive coordinator and his young assistant coaches. And, John, on the other side, as a defensive, you've got to remind your guys, the safeties especially, don't get too caught up in coming up here and stopping that run because they could always pull something out of their hat, too. Well, that's true. Certainly, you want to make sure that the worst thing that can happen is to throw it over your head, especially if you're playing at a safety position. Talk specifically about that. The last thing is to get it thrown over your head. We can come up and make a tackle, a 10-yard gain. Even if you don't go forward and they meet you at 10 yards, okay, we can play the next down. Throwing it over your head because you're too antsy, well, now we're going back to offense because they've scored a touchdown. So, absolutely, you want to stay back certainly until you get the feel of the game and kind of gauge what they're doing because, as you said, some guys in a big game, they're looking to, if they don't think they have the advantage, they want to jump out and shock you first. And, you know, I haven't seen that on film a lot from Huntsville, but I know they've got it in their back. Absolutely. So, well said by all my crew here about the possibilities of trick plays and seeing what can happen as well. Huntsville High School Band is up on the field. Remember, at Carbine Construction, we build trust, we build relationships, and like the Florence Falcons football team, at Carbine Construction, we continue to build. Florence Falcons football, 93-9 the score. Kevin Johnson with you and the crew here from Milton Franks Stadium. What a game it's going to be. Nice crowd on hand for both teams tonight. Should be a fun one. Should be an electric game before it's all said and done. We're looking forward to bringing you the broadcast here on your home for Falcon Athletics. 93-9 the score. And I want to run over to our statistician, John McDaniel. John, our stat of the week each week is brought to us by our good friends at Chick-fil-A. And you might even tack on something tonight about the Florence Falcons, what they're doing there. Well, first, let's talk about what's going on in our region this week. We've got James Clemens versus Austin. A very consequential game. You know, Albert Bull is taking on going to Bob Jones and Grissom is playing at Sparkman. So far, the region shakes out like this. Austin, they're in first at 4-1. Also, Florence tied at the same record. In third place, James Clemens, they're 3-2, but they're also tied at 3-2 with Sparkman and Huntsville. Bob Jones, they're 2-3 in sixth place. Albert Bull is not in the cellar. They're in seventh place at 1-4. Grissom, 0-5 so far in the region. But what I wanted to shout out, our junior high cross-country teams this week at the Alabama Regional Championships, our junior varsity girls placed first, and our junior varsity boys placed second. Give a special shout-out to Reese Harrison, who is a part of the girls' team and ran this week. But congratulations to both, boys and girls' teams, for doing terrific in the regional championships. Attaway, Falcons. Always like to hear of success there. In the seventh grade, football team won the championship this week, too. Congratulations to the seventh grade football team for winning the championship. We get trophies for that. I don't know if we get trophies. We don't get trophies for it. I guarantee you that. That's for sure. Let's look at the captains for tonight's lineup. Tavarius Reeder will be one of the captains. Wears number 77. Zoe Martin, Kate Davis, and Walt Barrett will be the captains for the Falcons tonight. And the captains are making their way to midfield as they'll be wearing the Falcons. They'll rode white with blue pants, blue helmets, all crimson over there for the Panthers, all the way from top to bottom with white numerals. So a great look on the field between these teams. Let's send it down to Jeffrey Jones as now we have the toss of the coin. All right, y'all the captains for tonight. Try to lead your team with some good sportsmanship and keep everybody out of trouble, okay? Huntsville, you're home. Florent's your way. The coin, if we can see it, it's got heads and tails. There you go. It's got heads and tails. What are you going to call? Tails. What do you say, John? It's Friday night. Yeah, yell loud. Tails. And it is all the way high. I know you're ready for some Panther football. I know you're ready for some Panther football. It is. Stand on your feet right now and get ready for your little Panthers. Florent's won the toss. We're going to defer. Thanks to Walt Barrett. Two and six on the season on that. More importantly, four and one in region play. Falcon football's back after this 30-second timeout. Now let's go to the press box for tonight's game. Here's the voice of the Florence Falcons, Kevin Johnson. Gorgeous night in Huntsville, Alabama, and here come your Falcons on the field with a nice road crowd and the big blue band playing. They are the opponent on the road tonight, but they're going to have to play their best game against a really big physical team from Huntsville. Falcons won the toss. They will defer. They will kick off. Huntsville will get the ball to start here. And real quick, Mike Albertson, key for Florence tonight to win this game. Yeah, I think being able to control the ball, not only being able to run the ball effectively, but that field position game is going to be so crucial in a matchup that's going to be tight like this. John McDaniel, real fast. Yeah, I'll make it real quick. I'll talk about a specific player. Their nose tackle, number 99, DeTron Cawthorn. He's a terrific player. He plays on the nose. If we can get him blocked specifically, we'll have a good chance at winning. Back deep for the Panthers. They'll have a couple of guys back there playing deep for them tonight to return, including their running back, Xavier and Drake and Mikael Ellison. Also back deep in front of them is Bryson Graham. Grissom, excuse me. Grissom is tremendous. Kicking off will be Parker Greenhall. He likes to kick it deep to the left. Let's see if the Falcons change that up tonight because there are some speedsters out there for this Huntsville team. Falcons will be kicking off left to right away from the scoreboard towards the north end zone, if I'm not mistaken. And we're about ready for 7-8 football on a Friday night finally after two Thursday nights in a row. Let's do this thing on a Friday night. Let's go home with a victory if the Falcons can play well. Greenhall to boot it away. Approaches the football and we're underway. He chips it this time. Going to come to the right and be taken by Grissom at the 25. Skipped away at the 30. At the 35 and goes down at the 37. and that's where the Panthers will have it first and 10 when they get the football. Let's pause for station identification. This is Falcon football. The Voice. High School Falcons. WYTK FM. Rogersville. Athens. Decatur. The Shoals. 93-9. The Score. First and 10 for the Panthers. Wyatt Smith is the quarterback. The 6'6". Senior wears number 7. That's one back behind him. Drake. Leaves it with Drake. Drake got away from one. Couldn't get away from two. He's met at the line of scrimmage. All by white jerseys. Like what I see right there. Boy, Jaden White almost got the handoff, Mike Albertson. Yeah, being able to get off the ball real quick. I mean, already having an impact in this game. Jaden White and Nate Pride do a fantastic job at that defensive line. And, you know, that was just another example. Grissom to the right, Ellison to the left on the second down and nine play. This time going to leave it with Drake again. Right up the middle. Nowhere to go. He's met again. He's going down again. No gain. That Falcon wall right there again. And again, that Falcon defense coming up big. Jaden Irons, the linebacker, stepping in there. Jaden Irons stepped right in that hole there and, you know, the running back had nowhere to go, wrapped him up right away and took him down, making this a third and long huge possession here. Huge, huge set of downs here for the Falcons. In the backfield now, moving some people around. Huntsville will bring in Dawkins back there, back to pass Smith. Got time, looks, throws down the right, one-on-one play going down the sideline and overthrows everybody and complete. Flag on the play. The flag comes down and I don't know. We'll see where it is. It's going to be a definitive it's a holding RPI on the Falcons. It's got to be a hold because there was no way anyone was catching that ball. It was about 10 yards over the head and boy, Jeffrey Jones with that ball being thrown that far over the head, that's a tough break right there. Tough, tough break because that ball was not catchable. They would never have gotten under that ball. I didn't see the hold of the pass interference but I did see the ball was way overthrown. It will be a 15-yarder giving the Panthers the first down at the 47. Jekyll and Jones was step-for-step with Grissom but don't get it. Two, three wide receivers to the left, one back in the backfield for the quarterback Smith. Going to leave it with his back up the middle this time and nowhere to go again and Florence is there, no gain. Florence right now winning the defensive side on this, on the line of scrimmage. That's a good sign, Mike. Yeah, that's been huge so far. They're answering the call at the defensive line right now and being able to stuff this run game a little bit. Very encouraging early on. Cinco Dawkins, the carrier, goes out of the game, coming back in the game. Will-Bee Drake on the second down and nine play. Watch for their big tight end. They have Fleming 6'6 tight end as well, only a sophomore. He's big and a big target. Rolling right, wanting to throw, throws the quick out, complete, got at the 37, got the first down across the 35, down to the 33. Sit down route and it was right open and goes for about 12. Yeah, they were able to find a nice soft spot in the zone. They cleared out the one side being able to find a nice little green space, hit a nice easy pass, took a, you know, that looks like something that they worked on. That was a pretty easy play they must have seen on film. That play to Ellison. Three wide outs now on the first down play at the 32. Going to leave it with his back up the middle again. This time a little more room and got a lot more to the 25, to the 20, at the 15 and finally knocked down before he's chopped down at the 13. And boy, that big penalty, Jeffrey Jones, gives them second life and they have it down at the 14-yard line. Third and long. Can't make this penance on third and long. Here we are. We're going to have to tighten up right here because they're having their way running the ball with us right now. Kevin, that's actually number eight, Armand Sellers, who's spelling Drake. So Sellers come in at tailback. You'll see three backs in there. Batson to the left along with Grison and Ellison, the wide outs on this first and 10 play at the 14. Now the Falcon band trying to make some noise. Wyatt Smith, the 6'6 quarterback stays in shotgun formation. Falcon show blitz. They're going to leave it inside and hit immediately and brought down immediately. Oh my goodness. Somebody timed that one up and absolutely tattooed the back there. Berski. 26 was like a missile. Mike, that's what you want to see. Absolutely. It was the right call at the right time. Bo Berski came right around the edge untouched and almost beheaded the running back there. It was almost a guillotine job there. That was a loss of three for Sanders. Second down and 13 at the 16-yard line, 17-yard line. Band in motion to the left is Grison. I like to throw the swing a lot of times. They look. Smith wants to throw. Throws it out here to Grison. Caught it at the 20. At the 15, gets away, but not more. He's caught down at the 14-yard line. Only a gain of about three or four. That's good defense right there by the Falcons. Good open field tackle there by Walt Barrett being able to break down and tackle the ball carrier as he only gained just a couple yards. Third and a long nine. The Panthers have to touch maybe the five-yard line or just inside the five to get the first down. They're on the left hash going right to left towards the scoreboard here. Open and drive. The tailback is still Sanders. Armani Sanders to the left of the quarterback, Smith. Two wideouts right. The tight end to the left. Back to pass. Smith looking. Pressure coming. Pressure getting there. Throws it in. He has to throw it away. Incomplete. Falcons dialed up the pressure and Peters said thank you very much and it'll be fourth down. That was a great job there by Peters coming around the edge on the outside getting the quarterback to move his feet. He had to throw it on the run. No chance of making that completion. Late shift on the D-line by the Falcons and it freed up that defensive end there to be able to rush freely. Surprisingly, the offense stays on the field for Coach Jimmy Gay on his fourth and nine play from the 14. The Falcon band trying to play big. Ellison will go right to the right. The big tight end will split out. Actually, check that. The tight end will stay left. It's Grissom in the slot. Nowhere he is. Two backs in the backfield. Big play right here early in this game. Smith looks over the Falcon defense. Smith puts a man in motion. Grissom back to pass looking. Now he rolls to his right. Pressure coming. Throws it on the run. Got a man out there and it is caught around the two-yard line and that's going to be right at the sticks and that's enough for a first down. Tremendous throw right there and Grissom came back to make the play. Yeah, that was a beautiful throw on the run there right on the money. Great job by the wide receiver to come back. Give him a nice target. Beautiful catch. As he was getting hit the Falcons stopped him right away but it is a Huntsville first down. First down for Huntsville and Sanders will stay in at tailback it looks like on the first and go play from the two. Sanders is going to get it off the right side and he'll chop in to the end zone touchdown. So the Panthers take the opening kickoff with the help of a Falcon penalty and a fourth down conversion and they go up six to zero pending the extra point with 7.32 to go here in the first quarter. Richardson will come out to attempt the PAT. A backup quarterback actually at times has been the holder but Richardson will try the PAT here. High snap gets it down. Kick on the way. Kick is up and kick is good. New score. 7-0. Huntsville with the lead. This is Falcon football. We're back in 30 seconds. Flavor is calling at Lost Pizza Company Shoals. Introducing the new limited time only margarita pizza. Fresh basil, fine ripened tomatoes and creamy mozzarella pearls on our homemade crust. Light, bright and bursting with flavor. Florence watches Huntsville take the opening drive and go down and put points on the board. They lead at 7-0. That last drive there from John McDaniel. Kevin, that was a good start for the Panthers. Nine plays, 63 total yards, four minutes, 21 seconds and three-yard touchdown run. But as you said, aided by the Falcons pass interference penalty on a third and long. Falcons' closest player are the brothers closer at the 15. They watch Huntsville on film chip a lot of kicks. They do a lot of different things so you got to be alert to everything here. This one along the ground and followed on by the Falcons at the 35. Lost it. Ball's loose. I think the Falcons got it to 37. That thing hiccuped out of a Falcon player but another Falcon jumped on it around the 37. Thank goodness. That could have been a disaster, Mike. Yes, I mean, you found the one Falcon that tried the belly flop on the ball instead of scooping it like a, scooping it up there. It was a tough play. That ball squibbing on the ground like that, you're meant to dive on it but it just hit off the chest and bounced forward. Luckily, a Falcon scooped that up. That's a tough play but we got to watch for that in the future. Chase Winkles, I believe, is the one that may have fallen on it to save the disaster. So Florence will have it at the 38, first and 10. We have three wide outs out here. Triplett the back, Davis the quarterback against this massive defensive front. In motion comes one man back to the right now for Florence on the first down play. Going to leave it with Triplett up the middle, got running room 40, 45, makes the tackle to the 50. He's got great speed to the 40, to the 35. They catch up with him and bring him down to the 28. That's what you want to see out of Kalon Triplett. That's a good sign right there from the Falcons. Right. That being the first play off the jump, that's going to be huge there. If the Falcons are going to be able to run the ball with success like that and Kalon's going to have a career night, we're in for a good game here. The holes on the offensive line, there wasn't one, there were three for him to hit. That is what we need from the Falcons tonight. First and 10 in Panther territory. They'll mark him at the 30-yard line. Shepard in motion. We'll come back now at fullback. Going to leave it again with Triplett off the right side. Stays there, patient, got a couple yards across the 30, down to the 27. Give him about two or three. You know, I'll be honest with you, it might have been the first time that Triplett seen that big a hole all year. No offense, but it was one of those where he's like, wow, there it is, and he got caught off guard almost, but he took off and made a great run, and now the Falcons have it in Panther territory. Second down and seven. Yes, they're looking like they're running up right behind Travari's reader. He's opened up two big holes thus far, and if he's going to have that kind of success, we're going to have a run game today. McDonald and Green to the left, Goolsby to the right on the second seven play. Back to pass. Gets rid of it to the middle. Got it to Goolsby. Complete at the 18. He goes down there. That should be enough to move the chains. Jeffrey Jones, that was right in front of you in traffic. There, Goolsby catches that pass. Yes, great catch by Goolsby. Just kind of sat down in the zone right there. And that's going to be there. It's a great throw by Cade, though, too. So he had to put it right on the money, and he did. Make it at the 18. First and 10 for the Falcons. Triplett still to the back to the right of quarterback Davis who tried to get the Panthers to jump. They didn't fall for it. 20 on the play clock. Not a shot clock as some SEC coaches said last week. Pistol formation now. Triplett will go behind him. Now they'll bring him back in the backfield. That'll be Shepard. This time going to leave it off the right side again. He found a little running room to Triplett across the 15. Pull down from behind around the 14. Give him about two or three. Make sure he's okay there. He got pulled down awkwardly. And he pops up and looks like he's okay. Second down and we'll call it gain of about four. Second down and six. Well, second down and seven we'll say as they move it there. Falcons right to the line of scrimmage. Two to the left and one to the right. McDonald and Green to the left. Try to get the Panthers to jump again. Now they'll look back to Cade McGuire to get the check. Again, this Panther defense who runs a 4-2-5 defense. We don't see that often but four down linemen. Davis straight drop. Looks right. Throws in middle and that one knocked away. That time the Panthers were waiting on that one. Fool me once. Shame on us. Or shame on them. That second time they didn't get fooled and brings up third down Mike. President Bush would be proud of that. Yep. That's right about that. Third down Mike. Nailed that one. Yes. Goolsby turned back around for that one. The defensive back or linebacker stepped right in that zone and put his hand in the way. They were ready for that one. We're going to look like to kind of run some routes off that now. Maybe like a stop and go or something like that. We'll be running a two-man crew for the rest of this game too by the way. As we go on third down quick snap. Davis wants to throw. Gets rid of it as he was hit. That should be a flag over there for interference but no call. And we're going for Goolsby again. And they say no call. I thought he got hit I thought he got hit early there, Mike. Yeah, I mean, it was hard to see from here. It was probably about a simultaneous situation where the referee gave it to the Huntsville Panthers but came through that ball only where his receiver can get it. Looked a little low but that's where the window was. Goolsby did a good job trying to get his hands on it. 31-yard field goal attempt coming from Graves. Gets the kick on the way. He has distance but that one is not going to be there I don't believe, is it? No good. No good. Wide to the left. He pulled that one to the side so the Panthers defense holds. They lead it 7-0 with 5.08 to go here in the first quarter. We're high atop Milton Frank Stadium and it was slow to get the official to come give the signal but it was wide to the left and come over the great drive no points. That's got to be disappointing for this Falcon offense, Mike. Now the defense really needs to come up to a big stop. Right, you know and that's one of the hard parts. You know, the special teams is tough especially, I mean we're kicking in the 30-35 yard range. That's not a gimme at the high school level so, you know and just missed it. Had plenty of leg just pulled it just a little. Sanders is the tailback again on this first down play. Going to leave with Sanders off the right side. Got a little running room to the 23. Pushes forward to the 25 and finally will they blow the whistle? They will and the Falcon start pushing him back but they're going to give him about 5 yards maybe even 6. I don't know I just continue to let them push and push forward until they blow the whistle. You just got to keep pushing and pulling. Right and that scrum you know you got to stop the pile from moving and the Falcons were still giving up yardage so they let them play. Grissom, Ellison Batson all wide to the left or to the right. Now Grissom will come to the left you got to watch him they like to go one-on-one with him Carter Graves no yep Carter Graves I think he's now playing defense we'll check him up. Again they're going to lead with the back off to the left side got a little running room and got the first down across the 30 and pushed out of bounds at the 34 come to the short side and found something on that left side that time and it moved the chains. Yeah they worked the left side they were able to get and seal the edge to the outside being able to pick up several yards for an easy first down. Shotgun formation again for Wyatt Smith gets the snap again going to lead with the back right off the left side same place this time he gets hit at 39 and they push him back at the 40 gain of about 4 though and I don't like what I'm seeing right now is there's a lot of push in this running back it's getting a lot of yardage real quickly for this team of Huntsville moving it forward and they're running real quick play after play looks almost turbo Armani in there back to pass throws a quick out got it to Grissom Gnolls when it was knocked away oh it was almost intercepted it would sit there but it'll bring up third down at 6 that one could have been a pick 6 for Florence yeah Peter stepped right in the line of fire there was able to get his hands on the ball couldn't reel it in but you know the Panthers definitely caught a break there Armani Settlers bend the tailback Grissom now will come wide to the left Fleming will be the tail tight end they'll bring in a second tight end as well that will be Raleigh Drake is now back at tailback KJ alright here we go Drake at tailback they're going to leave with Drake off the left side skips across the 42 but nothing there he was knocked down only a gain of about 2 nice job by the defense coming up making a play Sistrunk and friends said no sir Zoh Martin came in right off the bat had the initial hits Sistrunk cleaned it up it was a great job by the Falcons to stop that one fourth and a long four you don't need to jump off sides no penalties and be alert here but Richardson will come in to punt it away set up a return here let's not try to block this one no reason to jump off sides Jagger Richardson is a really good athlete back there at punter just line up on sides and don't do anything stupid Florence good snap to Richardson he gets rid of it and everybody stays away Pearson says get away from it going to take a Huntsville bounce inside the 30 will be down at the 22 and that's where Florence will have it with 303 to go in the first trailing 7-0 don't forget tomorrow 3.30 pregame 6.30 kickoff Alabama Tennessee the third Saturday in October it will be here on 93.9 the score tune in for the three hour pregame and the kickoff it's going to be something special Alabama and Tennessee from Tuscaloosa here on 93.9 the score Falcons will have to go 78 yards it was a good sign to see the running game going Triplett will stay in the game now let's see if the Falcons can get that passing game going it is a great pass rush that this Panther team has a four man front went back to the right of the quarterback now a man coming in motion is Goolsby so have trips to the right side Davis gets the snap going to look to throw across the middle Goolsby wide open and nobody's with him at the 40 to the 50 it's a foot race to the 40 to the 30 one man chased him to the 20 to the 10 they will not catch him touchdown Florence Florence strikes big and Goolsby scores and what a throw by Davis that was a great job that was a great job there Goolsby slanded right over the middle Davis hit him in stride Goolsby turned upfield and it felt like he was about to trip and run out of steam gained his feet and outran everybody great job by Goolsby to keep his feet under him great pass by Davis great call by the offensive coach touchdown Falcons Graves try to tie it up good snap good hold kick up kick is good let's tie it up at seven Falcons strike big 252 to go in the first we're tied at seven we're back in 30 hey Falcon fans this is Keith at Cypress Creek Indoor Range like Walt Barrett excels at priority 5060 Highway 157 or on the web at cypresscreekrange.com the Falcons strike big tied up at seven 78 yards from Davis to Goolsby one play one drive and Goolsby goes to the end zone Graves ties it up new ball game here with 252 to go and now Greenhall to boot it away to some dangerous Panthers that are beat and this one's going to go all the way back to Ellison at the nine Ellison comes up to the left hit and goes away stays on his feet but gets back to about the 25 before he's tripped up there and that's where the Panthers have it first and 10 just around the 25 yard line and Jeffrey Jones Goolsby had to catch his footing under him he caught it he almost lost his footing but he's got his feet under him and went all the way he did catch it he did almost lose his footing but once he saw that hole or once he saw that there was no one between him and the goal line I just started going you better score you better score you better score and he outran everybody to the sideline or to the pylon great job by Goolsby concentrating and keeping his footing Wyatt Smith going to hand it off to his back coming off the left side got much run room here and he tries to make it hit hard down at the 34 after a gain of nine he got tattooed there by Sistrunk who come and drilled him Drake gets up okay it'll bring up second down and short one the left side Mike seems to be where they find their success running the ball they've really attacked the left side of this defense so far and they've found a little success the last two drives Grissom in motion they're going to give it to Drake right up the middle again he's got running room across the 40 to the 45 got the first down at the 46 and just bringing Grissom in motion changed the eye level of that Falcon defense yes and the hole that was a great job by the running back to cut up the field and find the hole you know he didn't get off tackle like he was trying the Falcons cleaned that up but with that hole that he found he was able to find some nice yardage for a first down by Smith to give it to Drake again up the middle this time he's hit at the line of scrimmage but he pushes far to the 49 as the Falcon reached out to grab him and pulls him down after a gain of about 3 but John they're going fast they're going quick this is something maybe they saw on film because we haven't seen Huntsville do this all year that's a great point we have not they run in a lot faster tempo than they have in on film and our guys weren't anticipating it for example in the last play we had an unblocked defender in the hole and he out simply just overran the play and running back was able to get a 3 yard game to Tidey and Seti Raleigh and Fleming for Huntsville Florence still with three men's down 3-4 defense two wide outs to the right side got to know that because Smith can hit them at any time Grissom's a big time player at midfield this time going to leave it inside again skips far and he's not going to get to midfield if they give him midfield they'll give him right at the 49 yard line but he's hit right at the 50 yard line and he'll bring up third down and about six and Jeffrey Jones that's a big play right there and now somebody injured right there Bo Berski great anticipation right there he's playing his position and he might be playing in a couple other positions as well so great job by Bo we've got to keep him out here big play did we stop the clock for a particular reason Kevin you know what the Falcons played with 10 the Falcons played with 10 players maybe on that play it's been stopped for up until now 104 and counting this third down and six to go they have to get just past the 45 to Sunsville to get a first down two backs in the backfield for Smith Smith back to pass looks down the middle wants to throw now he's being rushed out of the pocket he's got a little running flips it open wide open Drake couldn't catch it he had him wide open for the first down Sanders that is and Sanders couldn't bring it in it brings up fourth down that's a break for Florence it definitely was a break he was wide open went right through his hands doinked off his helmet went in the air Panthers were lucky that that wasn't scooped up by a Falcon before it hit the ground but it looks like the Panthers are going to try and punt this one away getting the Falcons ball again this is where Florence needs to be very careful on defense line up well and watch for the fake right back to Richardson and he's going to punt it away short punt going to be bounced and taken by Pearson right up the middle he's knocked down at the 23 but J-Shot probably saved 10-15 yards just by catching the punt Mike yes he definitely did he was able to just take the ball straight ahead he knew he was about to get hit he just kind of took it up an extra three yards to get the Falcons a little breathing room but if he let that ball go that was probably going to be pinned within the five 38 seconds to go tied at seven Florence got back on the board on one play from 78 yards away when it was quarterback to quarterback really John Carter Goolsbee who had played quarterback some early catches one from Kay Davis across the middle and outraces all the Panthers 78 yards and we're tied at seven two wide outs to the left one to the right against this four man front man in motion comes to the right side Davis gets the snap looks to throw the quick out got it out there and incomplete watch out that was going to have been dangerous that's a really good incomplete pass it really was been a loss of loss of yardage and maybe a fumble that was to Green that couldn't bring it in and the Panthers were right on top of that one Panthers were right on top of that Green heard the footsteps wandering no part and just kind of went right through his hands there you know that was just a fact of the matter you hear the footsteps you take your eye off the ball for a second and miss so with 34 seconds to go second down and ten for the Falcons they'll have three wide receivers two to the right short side now three to the right side again with Goolsbee coming this way straight drop again has time now flushed out of the pocket throws on the run and that one's nearly intercepted knocked away and they'll bring up third and ten the pressure was coming from the outside Choby is starting to make a presence on a little bit Barnes trying to double team him when they can there John you see that quite often he is doing he has a terrific get off he is almost he's not he's not off sides but he's almost beating the ball to the quarterback at his speed and we hit the tackle and a running back and he still affected the play we don't run many draw plays not sure we even have the draw play in our game but this would be a good place we have four wide outs now four wide outs in the game against the four man front back to pass pressure coming look to throw it going down the sideline one on one but overthrows everybody as Green tried to double move and couldn't get open and the Falcons will have to go three and out and punt it away and then give the Panthers credit they made good plays right there what I'm not not a big fan of three pass plays in a row do not fall in love with the pass play you got to have balance here and just that's tough right there giving the ball right back Mike that last touchdown the Goolsby hit because the defenders were running down to catch the run Panthers bringing pressure on this punt shoving the punt away good snap and he gets it away good punt driving all the way back at the 41 is Grissom trying to go back to the right side he's got great speed gets by Jekyll and Jones 45 to the 50 and got a block and stepped out of bounds he were turning about 15 yards don't see a flag on the far side I thought there might be no it's on this side it's uh I think you're going against the team in red yes Nelson Nellie got tangled up and uh and kind of pushed the ground and he kind of laid on him for a minute so I think that's going to be against them I would think but we don't know we'll see it would be at the 43 it was a punt return of about 17 yards for Grissom who has tremendous speed to transfer in from East Limestone High School this year they've had several transfers to come in over the past two years William Gay the coach there at Huntsville High School he's developing his team holding against Huntsville a 10 yard penalty they call it from the end of the run so to go back into the Panthers territory and one official is marking it back at the 41 the other one is marking it at the 43 oh he went to pick up his flag so let's see where they're going to mark the ball now 10 yards from the 41 there you go so marking it back to the 31 it's not from where the play ended but where the penalty happened so it goes all the way back to the 32 yard line he only moved it 9 yards he was only going to move it 7 coming to the close of the quarter 8 seconds to go Wyatt Smith the 6'6 quarterback for Huntsville will have 3 wideouts including Grissom wide right Ellison and Batson to his left the one back in the backfield is Drake see if this Falcon defense can get a turnover bring a man in motion leave it inside Drake off the right side and he's hit bounces far to the 45 stays on his feet and broke a tackle now he's out loose out to the 45 to the 40 to the 35 chased down by a host of Falcons and drug out of bounds inside the 35 and that's where the Panthers will have it when we come back for the second quarter but the Panthers strike big and get in Falcon territory after 1 we're tied at 7 it's a good one Florence and Huntsville this is Florence Falcon football we're back in one minute have you ever seen those halftime scholarships where you have to nail a 40 yard field goal yeah this isn't that I didn't have to write a long essay or audition or make a half court shot I just had to open a bank independent account use my debit card sign up for independent we're invested in your future member FDIC James Moody with a score update Hackelberg leads Schultz-Christian 12-0 James Clemens lead Austin 10-7 Bob Jones leading Albertville 7-0 Clemens Dodgers and the Brewers are just about to get underway here Florence is tied with Huntsville 7-7 but the Panthers broke off a big run on the last play of the quarter all the way down to the 20-yard line by the way an update on that James Clemens Austin game I believe it's 10-7 Jets lead Austin right now but the Falcons got all hands full right here four wide outs for the Panthers Drake the tailback on this first and 10 play Smith will bring Fleming his tight end in motion they're going to hand it off to Drake who leaves following him and he's hit around the 20-yard line but he pushes far inside the 15 all the way down to about the 12 and still pushing before they blow the whistle they give him nine right there that's not a good sign that this team is going to allow them push and push and the size difference on those scrums it's not good for Florence no definitely not good for Florence but you know if there's still if there's still forward progress to be had they're going to allow them to play Drake the tailback still I believe there on this second down and one play from the 11 again they may run the same play again and they do they got it right with them up the middle again he gets far to skips far to got a first down down to the five and John you talked about last week or two weeks ago how James Clemens ran some fold plays inside where guards were folded behind the center they're bringing the tiny into fold inside and going in the middle right now and attacking not really complex they're using him as a lead blocker number 87 but he's a 6'6 245 pound lead blocker so it's not your average guy and they're running it right at us and we're just having trouble stopping I'll be shocked if they pass it I'll put it that way going to leave him off the left side this time Drake cuts back and got it down to the two he's showing a little wiggle right there and all the way down to even the one yard line it'll bring up second down and goal and Huntsville knocking on the door boy this is where you just got to bring everybody in the house right now maybe guess a little bit that big offensive line for Huntsville starting to lean on Florence a little bit with 1040 to go Drake is still the tailback on the right of the quarterback Smith going to lead with Drake going left he gets in there pushes forward and he'll have a touchdown I do believe yes he gets in gets the call and with 1030 to go Huntsville takes the lead 13-7 as Drake adds to it we thought this might be a low scoring game guys we may be just the opposite we don't know they're doing a really good job of keeping us off balance running some fast plays running some slow plays tempo that is pushing the Falcons and that was all Drake on that drive he started with a big run and now Cumberworth will attempt the PAT good snap the kick is on the way and the kick is up and the kick is good new score Huntsville 14 Florence 7 1030 to go in the first half this is Falcon football come back and see us in is here for you learn more at nabjc.com back here at Milton Frank Stadium where Huntsville takes a 14-7 lead Kevin Johnson the crew with you John that last drive for the Panthers Kevin it was five plays 70 yards about a minute and a half that came off the clock pretty quick drive and of course just mashed the Falcons with a one-yard touchdown all on the ground it started with the big 50-yard run from Drake and he ends it with a one-yard touchdown this kick is going to be taken by the Falcons on the sideline there and finally knocked out of bounds these kicks are so different they throw it everywhere they're going a little direction left and right the Falcons will have it around 35-yard line hard to see sometimes where it is but it'll be first and 10 for Florence yeah they're just looking it's a little bit of an onside look without running the traditional onside so just being able to kick it squib it make it make a little havoc out there for the Falcons it's been bouncing around like crazy they've been able to wrap it up this time around so but we just got to make sure that we have guys with good solid hands that don't freak out too often on those plays on those special teams might need a couple of short stops out there I think a couple short stops some good hands out there first and 10 for Florence at the 35 going to give it inside to Triplett who's hit at the line of scrimmage this time and he goes nowhere he'll lose a yard maybe or get back to the line of scrimmage I think they'll give him the line of scrimmage maybe depending he'll lose a half yard maybe a yard second down and 11 we'll say yeah that that play was dead to the rights the Panthers were in the backfield as Triplett already had the ball and the offensive line was already crashed in on that really had no chance of success right off the jump Florence Trips to the left this time pistol formation I got one and one out here to the left with everybody let's see what happens but I think a Falcon may have moved a little early nope was it a Panther Panther was in the neutral zone and beyond I saw Falcons raise up and I was looking at the wide receivers but it's a five yarder against the Panthers and it brings up second down and six so the hard count works game five back after that play Jimmy McDonald gets free here went for the hard count again nothing happening now they'll reset with 17 on the play clock Triplett will go to the right of the quarterback Davis in shotgun formation 10 on the clock still getting the play in got to hurry a little bit now eight on the play clock Davis gets everyone set straight drop looks left wants to throw cross the middle complete got it to the 40 43 45 to the 50 that's green and he's knocked down at the 43 comes up and I think he's hurting a little bit he's had a hamstring problem this week and I think that thing may have got him again he looked like he'd gotten shot from back in 30 getting the kids to practice on time remembering if it's your day to bring snacks making it to the game with a clean jersey why are simple things sometimes so complicated thankfully with auto owners insurance doesn't have to be one of them auto owners works with independent agents who answer when you 256 764 8682 Kevante Green on the reception for Florence is the injured player he had caught it turned up field got it to the 45 and still running and nobody touched him when he went down he's walking off with a little weight on it but he'll be substituted for by a couple of players first and 10 though for the Falcons at the 45 I'm not sure we'll see Kevante the rest of the game though it looks like they may be done after that he had a tweak of the hamstring it might have got him again going to leave with triplet off the right side stays on his feet but hit the line of scrimmage and they push him back no gain second down and 10 right now John McDaniel you talked about this defensive line they're starting to flex their muscles doing a really good job of both those defensive tackles are just cramming up the middle of the line from really B gap to B gap is a no go zone with those guys Goolsby go wide to the right I think that is Elliott in the slot I'll double check it and to the left is McDonald one back behind the quarterback Davis is triplet second down and 11 four man front now five on the front straight giving away to triplet trying to find a hole nowhere to go he's not backwards he loses another yard again just two or three guys in all red coming up making plays momentum has swung to Huntsville no doubt Mike right early on the Falcons had a little push and everything the Panthers have made some adjustments can't really get the running game going and so it's going to be a third and very long year for the Falcons well the Falcons could have snapped it they had a guy running off for Huntsville they didn't do it try to get the Panthers to jump they have two wide outs to the right one to the left on this third down money play all the Huntsville Panthers sitting kind of at the first down marker and time out taken by the Falcons we'll do the same 739 to go here in the first half Lawrence trails by seven we're back after this 30 second time out hello my name is Keith Medley and I'm an attorney with the law firm of Johnson Passeur Medley and Burchill why call an out-of-town lawyer when performed by other lawyers an appropriate lead-in song on the third Saturday in October on a Friday night Florence Falcon football on 93 now the score Kevin Johnson and friends here with you Falcons trail it 14-7 with 7.38 to go in the half and they face a third and 12 at midfield they have to get to 35 yard line and four first down from their 47 Davis the quarterback will put trips to the right with four wide receivers on the left back to pass has time this time Davis can get rid of it down the left sideline going for McDonald 101 can he get there and get it he's being hit yes flags come and the flags will come and that was a no doubter he had two steps it looked like and finally the flag was thrown and the Falcons will get a good call there and a break because they'll get a first down now I think a break is a good call for it if the Panthers had just turned his head around and tried to make a look back at the ball I don't know if they throw that flag he was face guarded the whole way and once Jimmy came back to the ball he was able to get a little contact there by the Panthers bad situation there for the Panthers but looks like first down Falcons Jeffrey Jones did you have a chance to catch it possibly that's a tough one right there I think it was pretty close but it would have been a miraculous catch that's for sure Gillespie wide right McDonnell wide left went back in the backfield behind the quarterback Cade Davis is triplet he's going all the way first and 10 he'll go to the left of the quarterback now Shepard will come in motion to the left Davis gives it off to Triplet got it to McDonnell down at the 25 yard line gain of about seven will sit down route and he catches it right on the ground almost it was a little RPO situation there Cade ripped the ball right out of a triplet belly there and was able to deliver a ball to McDonnell with great hands on that play wasn't the best pass I've seen all night but McDonnell was it down in three play clock at 15 Falcons at the Huntsville 25 trying to tie this one up if they can shift back to the right for the tight in H-back going to leave with triplet off the right side look stutter steps in the lane got a little bit of running room but short of the first down he'll bring up maybe third and one J.J. Yep about third one Lawrence is bringing in the heavy package and they're going quick and Burski will come in along with Zomart and Irons looks like Zos the tailback Jaden White is your tight in 15 on the clock under center is quarterback Cade Davis Davis looks back gets the play still has time with 8 seats the defense they switch in they come in a little bit and now a whistle and a time out or they go flag on the Falcons shifted in with their offensive linemen but the offensive linemen were they set or not was the question I don't know if they were set but if one of them was set and he raised in what was third and one went to third and six and all that played against you right there Mike with what the official had to say but you know we're going to have to run a different play here on third and five and it just stinks JJ could you tell if the linemen had their hand down they did not I wouldn't think that would have been a penalty but no way you can argue no instant replay 553 and counting third and six Falcons bring back their regular package and going to have to hurry they got five on the clock down to one and now he has to call time out he'll call the time out with 540 to go this is Falcon football come back and see it's football time in Alabama the players are hitting the field the cheerleaders are firing up the crowd the drum majors striking up the band and we all stand to the national anthem this is congressman Robert Adderholt while you cheer your favorite team this season I'll be on President Trump's team shaking things up in Washington when we stand on conservative principles it's a win for everyone I'm Robert Adderholt and I approve this message paid for by Adderholt for Congress gorgeous night for high school football in the state of Alabama as we get to the eighth week here Florence trails Huntsville on the road 14-7 and face third and six at the Panthers 27 it's four down territory probably two wide outs to the left one to the right the back in the backfield is still tripling he's going all the way Davis goes up checks with this line looks back to the sideline gets the play gets a four or five man front gives it off the triple note throws across the middle and it's caught by Goolsby and he's got the first right at the 19 yard line that's a great catch by Goolsby and even a better throw by Davis that was great hands by Goolsby has done a great job this year slant play Falcon first down Jay shot Pearson and Carter Graves will come into the game now how about that Goolsby coming off a little tender on that play got the ankle rolled up a little bit running it off Florence in the huddle with 17 they'll go sugar huddle and come out of there and Pearson at quarterback with Triplett in the backfield Pearson gonna look and give it off to Triplett going outside use the speed got away to the 20 to the 15 to the 10 to the 5 down the sideline he dives he's in to see if it's going to count we've got a flag on the play we're going to have a flag holding on a wide receiver Kevin let's wait and see they will mark him down at the 1 but the yellow handkerchief come out and they'll call it against Florence and I think you're right John it was it was hard to see from here but it was certainly he was really engaged with him and we're seeing what Jayshod on the field does that defense had to stay and Jayshod did a great job of milking that play for all it was worth getting triplet to kind of float to the outside a little bit they had to stay with Jayshod there put it in his belly and he had enough burst at that point to beat everybody to the outside that was a great job by the Falcons first and 13 and Pearson is going to stay quarterback if I'm not mistaken yeah again looking to give it this time to triplet that gets into the 25 down to the 22 21 yard line knock down there he'll gain about two it'll bring up second down and 12 under five minutes to go Florence trails by seven Elliott will come in the game now for Graves and Pearson will come out too or is he going to stay they're going to leave him in there on offense and put him out at wide receiver now so Davis the quarterback with 18 getting a call from the sideline he'll have Pearson and McDonald wide to the left Goosby to the right 10 on the clock you gotta hurry up again too slow 6 on the clock 5 4 Davis just gets a snap away looks to give a throw out to the sideline and complete got it to Pearson at the 11 and catches it they'll mark him out the 12 he may just be short JJ it was right in front of you he's about a yard short maybe that's about right maybe yard and a half short now the heavy package will come in just outside the 12 at the 12 it'll say third and two and here comes Davis in the quarterback he'll go under center Jaden White is your tight end and Zoe Martin is your tailback first get H-back gonna leave it with Zoe Martin and Zoe wiggles his way got the first down across the 10 he'll push far down at the 8 I'm not sure I substitute right here I may leave that big package in right now Mike I mean if you're going to be able to get pushed like that and just lean on the guys and get that you're inside the 10 you might as well let it ride at the 8 yard line and the Falcons will go first and go and they'll go quick under center again Davis tried to get the Panthers to jump they didn't fall for it 20 on the play clock Florence trying to tie this one up possibly with a touchdown Davis going to leave it with Martin again this time no Martin couldn't go a whole lot that way he got maybe a yard with that we'll call it no gain even second down and go from the 8 now the Falcons will bring Pearson back in they may go to that you got McDonald you got Elliott Pearson is going to wide receiver Triplett coming back in at tailback they'll go trips to the left again got to hurry up with these play calls got a little faster here 14 on the play clock just now getting set trips to the left the back is Triplett Triplett if he could get outside of the right can go going to leave it up throw it across the middle complete to the three to the two spin down to the one going to be close they got it touchdown Florence they give it to him it was close but a touchdown for Florence and I believe that's Jayshod Pearson on the catch he makes it into the end zone and Florence is one point away I didn't think he was going to get it but he comes back and the official laces yep touchdown we'll take it no replay there I thought it was a little short but you know what hey we're on the road we shouldn't be getting those calls so power to them touchdown Falcons a little shocked by that but they did with a late signal say touchdown we'll get Jeffrey Jones opinion after this timeout in a minute Graves to try to attempt to tie it up kick on the way kick is good just barely we'll take it tied at 14 244 to go in the first half buckle up Falcons fans it's going to be a night this is Falcons football back in 30 to pay your utility bill visit florenceal.org front slash enroll or call 760-6512 for more information tied at 14 at Milton Frank with 244 to go here in the first half we'll get this drive that last time the touchdown was from Davis to Pearson but first the kick by Greenhaw and he's going to go deep with it Ellison's going to retreat and catch it at the 5 Ellison back up to the 10 to the 15 he's hit there goes down trying to get away at the 10 he's going back and knock down and flags on the play and they're tackle made at the 10 yard line and there's yellow hankies on the ground and I think that might even be more against Huntsville but let's first go down to Jeffrey Jones on that last touchdown what a play oh it's great play he stretched out just by his fingertips got in and it was a good call by the ref he was he was on it and I was standing right next to him and it was great play and great call penalty against Huntsville will be half the distance and they'll have to start inside their 10 and around the well I don't know how they got the 7 yard line but they'll give them the 7 yard line but it's inside the 10 we'll take it half the distance I think he was down on about the 14 14 or 15 and a great job by the Falcons on the coverage he kind of bounced out but they stayed in their lanes on the back side and were able to get him down I believe that's 0 in the backfield is that right JJ that's number 8 8 ok they're going to leave it with him right up the middle and he's hit at the line of scrimmage and skips forward to about the 10 give him about 3 right there had not seen him on film do a lot John no sir I have not in the games I've watched he's not played tailback really they've had other 0 5 34 have all got rips Armani Settlers is a junior going to leave it with him off the left side this time they've set the edge pretty good but he skips forward to the 15 he'll be short by about a yard bring up third and one and boy Florence if your defense can make a play right here and force them to punt with two minutes to go it would be huge you don't want this offense for Huntsville to start gaining momentum either third and a long one we'll say Kevin we just came off a seven minute drive on offense to get their defense back on the field would be a great job this time right up the middle they go and they get the first down with Settlers and he gets to the 20 yard line he's just a big back he's 200 pounds listed and Jeffrey Jones on the sideline he runs with a lot of power he's low low to the ground back he's short but he he's got some tree trunks for legs he can move them too I'm kind of surprised to see him this late in the season but he looks like they're going to go with him Mike this is a big opportunity for Florence defense don't give up anything big here make sure you keep this tight at 14 right and being able to get the ball back in the second half is also huge they want to go deep they come down to the left sideline one on one this way pretty good defense by the Falcons they overthrow everybody great job across the way going one on one that was either Jones step for step number 13 right now starting to make a name for himself he certainly is and look over the last several years we've had some really good corners coming out of Florence and Ja'Kyle Jones just looks like another one next man up he's doing the job here they may do the same thing on second 10 this time going to leave with the back trying to come off the left side he's hit at the line of scrimmage and he goes down he'll be chopped down and bring up third down with 105 to go let's see if Kenny Marston thinks about a time out here doesn't call one yet third down and eight at the 23 56 55 on the clock they're just going to run this I mirroring their wide receivers out there with his back inside again he's hit at the line of scrimmage he goes down immediately at the 23 now Kenny Marston calls the time out with 24 seconds 23 seconds 22 seconds 21 seconds 20 seconds how many seconds can run off let's put that thing back up to 25 you need to get some time on the clock here because they took about five seconds off but Florence has forced Huntsville to punt it away and John we talked about defense making plays they did it right there and it was big it's a terrific job you want to get off the field keep them in a long yardage that's the best way to get the Panthers off the field is to keep them in a long yardage we've seen they got underneath passing game and run game Mike I'm not a big punt block fan but I think this is a place you go for it if you go for one right now absolutely if you miss you hit the kicker whatever they take the ball they get 15 yards but they're still not in a scoring position you've got 22 seconds left they did put some time left on the clock we got 22 seconds left so there's not there's only one or two more plays that Huntsville will be able to run if it goes bad if it goes well we get the ball within the 20 don't jump off sides they put two back on the clock so it's 22 seconds Jay Shaw Pearson will stand around midfield Jaggers is a great athlete the punt he only takes one step good snap good kick high driving kick and Jay Shaw just needs to let that one go but he'll go back and catch it at the 35 and say let's get some help goes to the right dancing try to get outside nothing there come back circle back this way looking for a lot of run room coming back to the left looking for help can't find anything to go outside of bounds and pushed out of bounds and the Falcons looking for a flag there didn't get one with six on the clock but Jay Shaw nearly ran the clock out Jay Shaw nearly ran the clock out he also is working for an Oscar there that was one of the bad worst acting jobs I've ever seen is getting hit out of bounds but he tried that was a Patrick Mahomes special he tried folks I tell you right now my two guys are going to get their eyes checked with my friends in the future that was the most blatant hit out of bounds I've seen in years I can't believe they're taking the just out of the other team Dr. Huntmore Renaissance eye care I'll tell you what happened right there was Jay Shaw Pearson had a great acting job Lawrence will take a knee in six seconds I believe and we'll go in tied at the half both teams come out play hard both teams make big plays and Florence on the road is tied with this tough Huntsville team at 14 this is Falcon football we're back in two minutes this is Miranda Haddock all right now with the Florence Education Foundation we would like to extend an invitation to our to the TNT halftime show where the Florence Falcons are tied 14-14 with the Huntsville Crimson Panthers I'm joined now by Miranda Haddock she's the executive director of the Florence Education Foundation Miranda how are you tonight good how are you I'm doing wonderful it's a beautiful night for football isn't it it it is the weather is perfect so tell me how many years is this that fourth year fourth year so you've got your own recruits in there you've got it good to go so you run tandemly with the board tell us a little bit about the makeup of the board how many members you got we've got 20 members this year wow that's great participation we've actually kept several from last year so how long is the term we ask you to do a three year term we have a few that's done longer yeah and renewable that sort of thing now there's been a lot of a lot of folks that got their feet wet with the volunteering by joining the education foundation that's a good way to get your foot in the door as far as being more involved in your kids school and your community school I was a member of the education foundation for years and I enjoyed it I know that I've been replaced by some way better people along the years we might have you back so tell us a little bit about what we got fundraisers tell us about what the foundation does what they stand for that sort of thing so you know what we do is we come in when the state falls short and bridge the gaps so last year we had 118 grants and we filled teacher grants obviously and we had 118 requests and we filled 96 and we gave away over $50,000 last year just to the classrooms I'm going to put you on the spot here with a little bit of a tough question do you know exactly how much has been raised over the last four or over the history of the education foundation it's well over $600,000 as far as grants given out as far as raised that's different as far as the grants go give me an example of a couple things that y'all maybe last year or the year before that y'all met the need for so one of the ones we did one year I thought was pretty neat is we were able to supply graphing calculators for the high school because you know those are not exactly cheap so the school provides them for most of the students now we are able to provide them for every student that's great so and it's across the board from all the way from handy to the high school that's right pre-k through 12th grade okay that's outstanding to hear if I you know say I'm looking for a way to get involved and you know say I want to give some money how would we get in touch with you so you can just get in touch with me you can go to our website it's Florence Education Foundation dot org it has so many different ways to give you know we do memorial funds if you want to give that way we have that set up we have a great one with the Bill Gullett fund they still give to that people will give it throughout funerals they'll just send it to us and we'll give a shout out to the family we also he has a grant in his foundation's website also so say I'm a small business and I want to you know I've noticed that a couple of small businesses sponsor a certain grant how does that work so you have to hit a certain tier to be able to do that and when you hit that tier I know it's golden up you're able to have a grant up to a thousand dollars in your name and how that works is once we pick the grants you get to go through and see what grant fits your business the best or whatever you're passionate about and you get to come out and present it to that teacher that day and your name is on the grant okay so tell us a little bit about the process when you know the grant committee meets they decide who's getting what they all vote on it it's a very I guess tell me about that process real quick so we have everything print out they get binders they study it for two to three weeks we always score they score every single grant we come in see the scores we still touch and talk about every grant no matter what the score is just to make sure we meet it's a good it's a long meeting we meet for three or four hours and decide who gets what and it's of course I don't vote as being the director but we have an odd number on the grant obviously for voting that's great it's good to know that all grants are considered you know and some of them unfortunately some of them do fall outside of the criteria you know if a grant comes in that's something that the school could fund y'all just lead it back to the school and say hey Dr. Shaw and admin exactly and we did that some last year too yeah and that's working together it's collaborative working right there which is outstanding we need more of that actually in our in today's society so the grant committee meets they decide who gets the grants and then they how do you present them the fun day happens we get to surprise the teachers they have no idea they get the grant they get their big poster they display them outside their classroom usually throughout the year you'll go to some teachers and they'll have three or four from past years outside their classroom badge of honor kind of yes and so we get to go in and surprise them they have no idea until we come in so be honest every year you see tears from some of the teachers don't you I remember when my time on the foundation it was outstanding and I wanted to I like to be on the grant committee but my favorite was going to and handing out the oh and everyone on the board is welcome to do that we all go for that day there'll be a grant that you think is not that big of a deal and you'll go present it to the teacher and they're in tears over it you don't realize how big of a deal that grant really was to that classroom and how big of a deal it's going to be to our kids educating our kids if it's a big deal to that teacher it's going to be a really big deal to some of those kids and we love getting the pictures and videos of them using the actual items that's right and posting on social media you can't help but to have pride in our school system and our foundation when they pass those grants out moving on to how you get your funding you know we get all these grants away you get funding how do you get funding of course through donors the biggest thing we have campaigns we have friends of the foundation campaign we kick that off every year and there's different levels and tiers and different perks that you get so we get those we also have events you know we do our salsa showdown event that's a huge event in the fall and we have a spring event and it's a fun event it is so fun tell us hold on let's go to the spring event first then we'll go to the salsa showdown so putting for the falcons so we've got a new thing up our sleeve this year so we'll be letting you guys know about that closer to time but we did do a new one the lucky duck dive also this year that was an extra thing that we did that went over well a lot of fun it was live stream right yes and we may add a little twist to that this year okay I don't want to ask anything too confidential so let's move on to the big in my opinion best fundraiser of the year for the education foundation that is salsa showdown yes so how many this is the eighth year eighth year wow and I think it grows every year wouldn't you say it gets bigger each year and it is a fun event you know there's always a great crowd you know the best thing about having so many board members is they've got so many diverse groups of friends yes and you see you just never know who you're going to see kids are welcome it's just an outstanding event that I don't think I haven't missed one single showdown salsa showdown you better not this year either yeah I'm planning on being there don't you worry so tell us a little bit more about salsa showdown how does it work so you know you have restaurants compete or individuals we opened up to individuals last year that's good so we had three or four individuals that came out competed and they had a great time so this year we've got about 13 or 14 competitors come out you get to pay for a ticket they're 15 each you go online and buy a ticket you'll see posters around town also you scan the QR code get your ticket or pay at the door okay so you come in you get to sample salsa and queso from every participant and you vote for your favorite I can speak from experience it's hard to get to every single booth I mean there's so many good sauces and sometimes I hit a good one on the second or third booth and I don't even make it around the room to go to the next ones because I just want to get seconds on the other and some do more than one salsa they do different ones it's great they have specialty they have traditional unique traditional queso and then we got a new one best spicy this year that sounds good are we still doing the chili hot chili no we're not doing that this year we've got some other things too much heartburn for some of the so tell us when that is November 15th Saturday November 15th at Singing River Brewery from 2 to 5pm that sounds good and they can get tickets on the website or see any board member the board members are clearly listed on the website and you can pay at the door too okay that's good we take card or check check cash card anything I'm missing I see you got your binder full of notes I just want to make sure we covered everything you know some of our participants yeah yeah some of the returning we've got some new ones this year well good I hope I hope it's just as successful as it's been in the past and we look forward to seeing it thank you for joining us thank you for having me we'll be back in one minute Irons Electric has been Morrison and the Florence Falcons football team on building a special season to remember as Carbine Construction wishes you the very best this season remember at Carbine Construction we build trust we build relationships and like the Florence Falcons football team at Carbine Construction we continue to build back at Milton Frank Stadium the TNT fireworks halftime show all tied up Florence and Huntsville what else would you expect in this region on a Friday night everybody around the region tied up just about in the big games it's James Clemens and Austin tied at 10 we're tied at 14 I'll have to go have found play they did a big drive and late in the half started getting something going a little bit but a lot of football left to be played can the Falcons make the adjustments in the second half and we're with our radio crew here and you know Mike what is your assessment there the first half you know I think these teams are primed and ready to go it looked like you know there was some jockeying for position some big plays but really it's going to come down to in the second half I mean it's going to come down to execution it might be one of those situations whoever has the ball last wins too you know this first half was definitely interesting but I think the team that makes adjustments and really attacks the weaknesses of the other team is going to win this one let's go over to our good statistician John take it away with our stats here at the half all right Kevin let's start with the Crimson Panthers tonight Huntsville in the first half 180 yards of offense they had 152 yards rushing on 23 carries 28 yards passing three completions on seven attempts 11 first downs in the half one for five on third down conversion attempts and one for one on fourth down attempts four penalties for 31 yards no turnovers time of possession was 13 minutes and seven seconds Falcons 191 yards of offense in the half we had 12 rushes for 54 yards but passing we were seven for 12 for 137 yards eight first downs in the half two for four on third down conversion and no fourth down attempts three penalties for 30 yards no turnovers of course time of possession was 10 minutes 48 seconds one thing I'll note we've had one punt in the half they have had three punts so a good job by the defense of getting them in fourth down the Falcons and the Panthers are going at it here in the first half and Panthers took the opening kickoff with the aid of a Falcon penalty and the aid of a fourth down play where they just made a big play they get the score when it was Sanders in from two yards out to make it 7-0 732 to go in the first quarter but Florence answered back late in the first quarter when Davis found Goolsby and Goolsby caught it across the middle he was open kept his feet and outraced all the Panthers for a 78-yard touchdown on a great throw from Davis to Goolsby Charlie Graves PAT made it 7-7 with 252 to go in the first in the second quarter here come the Panthers again another methodical long drive with 10-30 to go they get into the end zone this time it was again a one-yard run this time from Drake and Drake puts it in the end zone the PAT from Cumberworth is good it's 14-7 but just before the half Florence answers back this time it was Davis to Jayshod Pearson 8-yard touchdown tied it up at 14 with the PAT from Graves and Mike you just get the feeling which team will blink first might be the key in this one right you know this is going to come down to execution and if we you know if there's a mistake or a ball that's put on the turf an untimely penalty like this game is that close of a matchup that any one mismatched play could very well spell the end of the game for whichever team and so you know in a highly contested matchup like this really execution and keeping keeping your assignments is going to be huge let's look at the college games our picks for tomorrow big games being played let's start down on the plains Missouri comes to Auburn how do you think that one plays out I'll start with Jeffrey Jones it's going to be a good game you know the the Las Vegas thinks that it's going to be a lot closer than I thought it was going to be I'm going to have to take Missouri though Missouri's Missouri's been looking pretty good this year all right what do you think John based on the last week that I saw what Auburn Auburn play and Missouri played if Missouri plays that same way I will have to take Missouri Vegas thinks it's really close but I'll take Missouri yep Mike yeah I'm going to go with I'm going to go with Missouri on that one you know just with the with the way things shaked out last week in Auburn I just don't I think Missouri is just I think they're just playing too too good right now and Auburn just hasn't hasn't really truly completed that one big game yet Kevin do you think the Tigers will have a letdown after such a big emotional game last week I do you know that is a real possibility and then again you don't know what you're going to have it's a night game it's a very good Missouri team I just can't tell which team will show up and the offense will it be there I know this the defense has been outstanding for three games with three losses they've played great defense just couldn't make the points when we need them for Auburn I think Auburn wins it and I'll tell you why I think Auburn wins it I think Lady Luck has to owe them a few I just feel like something's going to go their way so I give the Tigers that one Alabama, Tennessee Tuscaloosa hate these games are being played at the same time JJ Crimson Tide and Tuscaloosa against the balls so I didn't realize those are playing at the same time until you just said that but they are well 15 minutes apart I'm going to have to take the home team Alabama you know Vegas doesn't think this one's going to be close which is a little surprising but I'm going to take Alabama all right John I'm going with him right now Ty Simpson and the wide receiving group is really excelling and Tennessee I heard was like 115th in pass defense so I'm going to take strength versus weakness I'll go with Bama what do you think Mike I'm going to bridge my original assessment with that Auburn game I have little information from the desert and it just looks like Auburn Auburn is the home dog in that game at night again the energy that place is going to be rocking I'm flipping that one shall we say after further review because that's all we heard last week so we'll go after further review in that game that referee in that second quarter had to have run at least five miles back and forth to that dumb screen yeah the world's largest screen screen size of Rhode Island but we come around we run 70 yards to look at a cell phone video on the field so you know I digress Mike was in the stadium for last week just for a quick side Alabama Tennessee Alabama the home team is going to take that one reminder I know everybody knows Alabama is playing as well as anyone there at home they've got everything ready Tennessee will make it close oh yeah but I think Alabama will win it because right now they're as hot as any team and I think they come out with a victory so you'll hear that game right here on 93-9 the score tomorrow any upsets you see in the making college football tomorrow I've got one for you and it's going to blow your mind no it's not going to blow my mind go for it the fact that LSU is going to beat Vanderbilt will be an upset LSU is going to beat Vanderbilt tomorrow and it's going to be an upset 11 o'clock game brother trap game for LSU in Nashville Kevin Vanderbilt is favored by almost three points wow in your lifetime has LSU ever been an underdog to Vanderbilt wow not me somebody knows something guys any other upsets y'all see tomorrow you've got Ole Miss and Georgia we missed that one Georgia getting a chance for some payback for the last season also you've got in Athens that's right Texas going to Kentucky maybe the first time they've ever gone I'm not certain about that and USC Notre Dame how about I take SC as an underdog yeah that one's caught my attention too on SC and Notre Dame I think that's all I got I'm not I'm not going to take them but I will say watch Texas A&M and Arkansas I think Arkansas is going to make it closer than the than the experts think that's my I think A&M comes out with a I think A&M squeaks by okay all right any others y'all see give y'all the chance Mike I'm cycling through I'm excited to see after he's just got paid 12 million dollars nearly a season for Kurt Signetti to travel I mean he gets Michigan State at home and see what his players show out for him boy he deserved that didn't he what about who does Oklahoma play tomorrow by the way Oklahoma plays South Carolina in Columbia I like South Carolina in that game Oklahoma looked bad coming off a bad loss they did not look good that's not the same team we saw about three weeks ago against Auburn that's for sure will Matier be healthy but I don't think he'll be healthy I don't either I think that's that's the big difference with them healthy Matier they can run the table but did you think he was unhealthy last week yes most definitely I didn't see any he was not 100% he had some zip on his ball he did all right well it's going to be fun in college football tomorrow don't forget the Alabama Tennessee game right here on 93.9 the score we're at the TNT fireworks halftime break where Florence and Huntsville all knotted up at 14 come back third quarter action this is Falcon Football back in 30 flavor is calling at Lost Pizza Company Shoals introducing the new limited time only margarita pizza fresh basil fine ripened tomatoes and creamy mozzarella pearls on our homemade cake slices are here creamy dreamy downright legendary these flavors won't stick around forever only at Lost Pizza Company Shoals where the lost get fed here at Milton Franks Stadium on a gorgeous October night Florence and Huntsville tied at 14 don't forget next Friday night Florence will be at home against Spartan in the final region game of the season at Brawley Stadium so make plans to be there next Friday night Florence and Spartan the Falcons could come away with a victory here tonight somehow on the road it would be a huge huge game Cumberworth will kick it away not punt it but kick off from the 40 they've done a lot of skip kicks they've placed the kicks they're trying to put pressure on they could even own side kicking now J-shot Pearson I don't think they'll let number two touch it they look like they put a little different personnel up closer to the 30 yard line where they would squib it to as well so we'll see they're looking you know I like the kicker that says hey where's the guy I want to kick it to and let him choose so you got to be ready to just cover the ball and be alert to anything as far as hopefully have the ball to start the third quarter Cumberworth approaches it and he'll chip it down to Phil they're going to be taken by the Falcons at the 35 and knocked down out of the 37 yard line and that's where it'll be first and 10 they're going to call the fumble there or not they're trying to get it over on the other side will they give it to them is a question I don't think so it'll be Florence's football it's going to be tough Kevin being on their sideline they're still talking about it over there right in front of the Huntsville bench and they're going to give the ball to Huntsville that was probably fumble against Florence and you've got to fall on that you can't try to run with that and you talked about personnel I don't know who it was that got it but that is a huge turnover right there Mike it was the right guy wrong implementation the kid has good hands just wound up getting it stripped he got held up a little bit and multiple guys got in there and just ripped the ball out of his hands I knew when they kept doing that I knew they were getting one eventually now a flag on the field I think maybe Huntsville has too many on the field and they do so that will be a five yard penalty that will make it a first and 15 on the illegal substitution Kevin I really think if that would have been on our sideline or in the middle it would have been a down player momentum stop but they managed to get him and that's why you run plays to your sideline you kick it to your sideline we've talked about that often it's just the life we live one back in the backfield I think that's Drake in the backfield still behind the quarterback Wyatt Smith he has two wideouts to the right going to leave it with Drake off the left side trying to bounce it got across the 40 and skipped out of bounds around the 38 depending where they mark it there Dawkins actually number 8 number 5 Cinco Dawkins on the play Dawkins coming in starting so they'll run 0, 5, and 8 at running back right now it's Dawkins in there give him 5 so second down and 10 this time I'm going to leave with Dawkins up the middle and again a good little run across the 30 down to the 30 yard line before the Falcons puts you away but that's too much yardage and that's 6 yards on that Jeffrey Jones you had him at first and 15 and now you're third and 4 yeah it's time to tighten up right here the defense has been showing up the whole game they need to play tight right here boy I tell you I think you got to bring some blitzes or something you cannot let them get a first down here at the 30 quarterback Smith going to leave it to the left of Dawkins trying to get outside missed one man coming outside chipped out of bounds and stepped out at the 30 that's great defense stringing him out he'll have nothing on that one it'll bring up fourth down and four yeah it was a great job right off the jump he had looks like Jaden White coming right up the middle forced the runner outside had another guy just keep stringing him out he ran out of real estate went out of bounds Dawkins is the tailback Ellison will go wide to the right now he'll go wide left he'll swap and bring Grissom to the right the tight ends in there as well it's fourth down and four listen the quarterback can run it too you got to keep an eye on him going to leave it inside with Dawkins he's hit he goes down Burski gets him in the backfield no gain Florence ball oh baby what a play by Burski and the dialing up with the defense on the blitz was perfect right there that was a great job there by the Falcons to face adversity to start the half that was a really tough blow there for the Falcons the defense did a great job to really stop the Panthers and get off the field with no harm done that's going to be a huge job and the Falcons need to respond here really get that momentum on their side Jeffrey Jones ironically after all that Florence gets it about where they recovered that kickoff almost exactly where they where they recovered the kickoff so no harm no foul right there we just got to make it right got the same game plan that we had in the in the locker room so let's get out here and execute I believe that's Elliott in the slot with Goolsby to the left McDonnell wide right the tailback to the right of the quarterback Davis is Triplett Triplett's going to get it off the left side and try to use his speed and cut it up got run room 40 45 stays on his feet to the 50 cuts back and finally knocked down stays on his feet again to the 45 to the 40 down to the 35 and to the 32 oh my welcome to this game Kalon Triplett Kalon Triplett starting the second half the way he started the first half very first run of the game he took a nice big run there Kalon Triplett ran up the field ran up the field and was undeniable on that play breaking tackles making guys miss and really having a nice little burst to flip the field for the Falcons it's been tough sledding in between the gaps Kevin we got on the edge that's what you need to get it on the edge a lot at the 32 this time going to leave with Triplett no throw across the middle got it to McDonnell and he couldn't catch it that was a pretty good defense there but a flag on the play and I think they're going to get him for grabbing the shoulder pad before he kicked there there's a flag inside both at the line of scrimmage and inside the box I think there's a definite flag on the pass interference face mask so that so yeah on that on that play the pass was a little behind McDonnell so it was all setting as you hear it was an eligible receiver for the Falcons and on face mask on the defense so it'll be an off setting if we'll do it again first and ten at the 33 or 32 yard line excuse me I didn't mean to interrupt Mike was that guy covered up what made the guy in the eligible they were saying alignment was too far downfield gotcha as they run that option play a little bit read it and then throw it Davis with Triplett to the right of him going to leave with Triplett off the left side he used his speed again to the 30 breaks the tackle to the 25 and spins forward and knocked out of bounds he'll get about eight or nine that's a great job there to get to the outside once again the Falcons doing a great job of getting out getting out there and getting some tough yardage you know but that's the rub with the RPO you get yourself that ball in the belly and you get Lyman going downfield they're blocking like it's a run play and you're getting them downfield with that pass and it's just you see that a lot in college Triplett is running with confidence right now yes that is a great point JJ he is running with as much confidence as I've seen this year second down and two at the 24 he's to the left of the quarterback Davis Davis going to leave it with Triplett again up the middle pushes forward got a first down pushes up to the 20 he broke a tackle or two to get an extra yard and move those chains first down for the boys in white and blue he's seeing the holes way better than he has all season he really cut through there was able to make was able to pull away from one of the defenders to get the extra yardage for that first down you know not only confidence but strength Goolsby and Elliott wide to the right McDonald to the left he'll bring the safety over here up and out on McDonald a little bit Triplett still the tailback on this first and ten play going to leave it with Triplett again this time he gets hit spins away got to the 20 to the 15 down to the 10 inside the 10 to the 8 he had nothing they had him for a loss he spins away and leaves Panthers in his wake and goes all the way inside the 10 yard line if Kaelin's able to continue this this run that he's on as he's running this ball the region better take note because he is undeniable unblocked blitz defender hit him in the backfield and he just spun off of him and was not maybe just could not make the tackle first and goal at the 8 Davis going to leave it again inside skips forward push forward he'll get down to about the 6 lost the ball ball on the ground I think Florence may get it down around the 1 they're going to say Huntsville saying they've got it but the official says referee says we have it Florence's ball and it oh no they're giving it to Huntsville they're going to give Huntsville the ball at the 1 yard line and it's a turnover Florence said they had it I thought with the official putting his hand up but he was signaling the other way wasn't he Jeffrey Jones I can't figure that one out Nelson Elliott jumped on the ball I don't know if he had it I guess he got it taken from him at the bottom of the pile but he was on it that's an unfortunate event right there we driving had it fumbled it fumbled it forward the ball still on the ground for about three or four seconds and rolled to the 2 at the 2 yard line so the Panthers have 98 yards to go and stop the Falcons on this drive that was looking so promising shotgun formation the bristle before the snap and I believe is that a timeout the official came all the way from over at the sideline of Huntsville it looked like he was they're motioning timeout timeout taken by the Panthers will do the same 8.41 to go in the third quarter all knotted up at 14 we're back in 30 hey Falcon fans this is Keith at Cypress Creek Indoor Range like Walt Barrett excels at safety at priority 50-60 Highway 157 or on the web at CypressCreekRange.com back at Milton Frank Stadium where Florence and Huntsville tied at 14 a promising drive by Florence ends at the two-yard line on a fumble after great hustle there by Triplett but a fumble is recovered by Huntsville and now they'll be in their own end zone on this first and ten play from the two Sellers in it tailback Sellers gets it off the left side pushes forward and gets to the three or four maybe the five-yard line give him about three they run the slant wedge to the left at zone blocking and get about three or four give him even five on that they'll call him at the seven you are on the road and sometimes those marks get from four to five that happened there maybe second down and five defense for Florence needs to come up big here you cannot let this get back the other way again going to run the back to the left side trying to get there and hit but he pushes forward across the ten and should have enough for the first down around the 13 and that'll be enough to move the chains well they have found something on the left side Mike they run it in the first half they continue to do it here right and they've had some success the Falcons have adjusted at times and was able to stop them they haven't really busted it too well but they've been able to run successfully this time he's hit right at the line of scrimmage and they'll blow it dead they won't and they let him just continue to push forward and he gets about six yards he was stopped all the way back at the 15 yard line and they wouldn't blow the whistle and they pushed forward for four more yards that's driving me crazy guys that's the way the officials are told to call it unfortunately I don't like the way it looks the flag is going to push the team in red back and that will be a Falcons favor holding call it looks like we'll move it back holding on 72 for the Panthers the youngster who is committed to UNA gets caught holding and a half the distance penalty we'll move it back to the six yard line which brings up first and about 16 or 17 now trips to the right for the quarterback going to leave it inside to the back and he's hit and spins away but he goes down after a game of about two that's better right there and the Falcons brought a little pressure that time Mike right they were able to bring some pressure they got a hit you know as he was receiving the ball he broke the tackle but didn't really have a full head of steam heading towards the line of scrimmage was able to pick up to how about a time right here for a pick six because I think they're going to throw it second 14 back to pass rolling wanting to throw looking for the settle down throws to the sideline and over those everybody he was going for Ellison he overthrew everybody about 20 yards and it brings up third down in most of the parkway to go yeah J shot was in in position for that one and it went way over his head the receiver cut off the route early so it looked like maybe a little miscommunication between the quarterback and wide receiver John I've seen I've seen them run a few screens on film this could be a place you see that right here maybe a little quick draw it's a great it's a great down and distance the first thing as a defense you're going to be looking for is a screen or a draw play and then adjust from there they've got three wide receivers in though so we need to be good pass coverage on the third down play straight drop looking wanting to throw down the middle is tied in and it's intercepted taken by the faculty at the 20 to the 15 Jekyll and Jones to the 10 to the 5 he's down to the 1 give the Falcons the ball down at the 2 yard line Jekyll and Jones on the pick and almost had the pick 6 their quarterback is fighting the bottom of the pile trying to jerk the ball away from him and it should have been a personal foul but the Falcons got the ball at the 2 first and goal at the 2 and there's a flag on the play guys and a flag on the play now let's see what that's for it's got to be after the play was over but the Falcon offense is coming out on the field sideline warning on Florence it was in the middle of the field it was going all the way down and there's a sideline warning over here no me guys sideline warning on Florence half of Huntsville on the kickoff was on the field and I'm looking right now all the Florence players are on the track not on the green they're all standing on the edge of the track and as a matter of fact the coaches are pushing on the track this is an old Alvin Briggs trick we've been over at Huntsville he put all his team on the track because they like that first and goal at the two let's push this thing in Florence 6.56 to go Davis has triplet to his right triplet in the middle hit nowhere he's getting nowhere to go and he's pulled back he'll lose a yard or two Kevin Kevin Kevin I want to like the jumbo package we've brought in a few times this close to the end zone second down and goal at the five you know you've not thrown it up to Jimmy McDonald one-on-one yet he's pretty good at faking the slant in the middle and going to the outside let's see if he does it there he's got one-on-one out here to the left a safety sort of over the top so they'll bring Gulesby in there to force the safety to guard him play clock at 12 watch McDonald he's on the numbers at the five-yard line play clock at five play action wants to throw nowhere to throw with it now Davis looks to run and Davis will get back to the line of scrimmage maybe lose a yard and he'll bring up third down and go at the six or seven that's a smart play by Cade Davis he didn't force it right he knew he was looking for the slant over the middle it wasn't there the fade wasn't there they were covered up he just pulled it down and lived the play another down tried to get back to the line of scrimmage and so we've got a third down third down and goal at the seven he started at the two the Falcons have lost five yards on two plays play clock at 15 as they get the play in trips to the left side going towards the scoreboard Davis the quarterback has tripling in the backfield back to pass looking nowhere to throw to the end zone he throws it McDonald goes up for it and couldn't get it incomplete he'll bring up fourth down and goal that was good timing and jump there by the by the corner to knock that away from McDonald McDonald had his hands on the ball knocked away by the corner at the very last second the Panthers hold serve and it looks like the Falcons are going to have to kick Charlie Graves will attempt a 24 yarder the thing that bothers me is this Panthers team has had a great rush you've got to protect here it'll be a 24 yarder good snap good hold kick on the way kick it's got enough distance the kick is good and Florence takes a three point lead 17-14 as Charlie Graves gives the Falcons the advantage 520 to go in the third have you ever seen those halftime scholarships where you have to nail a 40 yard field goal yeah this isn't that I didn't have to write a long essay or audition or make a half court shot I just had to open a bank independent account use my debit card sign up for online banking and have a positive balance that's it a 20% scholarship to UNA when bank independent invests in students like me they're investing in all of us and the future of our community bank independent we're invested in your future member FDIC back at Milton Frank Stadium where Florence gets a 24 yard field goal from Charlie Graves to extend the lead to 17-14 not a drive really it was the Jekyll and Jones interception that brought it back to the two yard line he couldn't quite get in so the Florence had the ball two different times at the two they fumbled it once at the two and then they stuck and have to kick a field goal now Greenhall will chip a kick over to the left side taken at the 30 yard line and hit down right at the 35 and knocked out of bounds across the way and that'll bring where the Panthers have it 65 yards away don't forget tomorrow morning the coaches breakfast from the North Alabama Bone and Joint clinic 8 a.m. here on 93 9 the score as we talk to coaches from around the shows area about Friday night's games on Saturday morning a great tradition in the shows area the coaches breakfast here on 93 9 the score Settlers still in the backfield or Drake we'll see here Settlers is still back there on the first down play they look to give him to him right up the middle and he's hit right at the line of scrimmage and pushed back no gain that time you hear a fan in the background that's a horrible spot because he never got to the line of scrimmage and they gave him a yard I agree with that fan second down and 9 at the 25 you are on the road those things happen watch for number two Grissom want to throw the swing pass out here to him he catches it skip down and knock down at the 30 he's going nowhere because the young man going to Austin P by the name of Walt Barrett said thank you very much he'll lose about four Walt Barrett as the quarterback set his feet he read that play right away he was shot like a cannon just flew into the backfield and great open field tackle tripping up the receiver John one thing you have to watch that's a set up for a double pass right there to that it could be it certainly could be very detailed from the cornerback position not getting too eager two wide outs to the left two tight in to the right now one go tight in goes left straight drop looking left wanting to pass has time now he's being pressured floated up in the pocket got to the thirty to the thirty five he's getting close to the first down but he won't get there he's knocked down hard at the 37 yard line and he got hammered right at the 37 that was irons right there that came up and just laid the wood it was a beautiful job as hit him super hard making a fourth down play and the Falcon crowd on their feet below here high atop we are on the visitor's side fourth and six to go Pearson back deep to return the punt of Richardson don't need any penalties here Richardson gets it and will punt it away line drive and Pearson will have it at the 20 yard line he looks back at the 15 he's in trouble trying to run out of balance now and he'll go if Lawrence defense does their job you have a three point lead and you put it back in the hands of the offense that found some running room Mike if you can go down here and score and go up two scores that would be huge that would be absolutely huge and the Falcons have the ability to really if they're able to run the ball here they could run some clock here but this possession in this game could be huge this might be a game defining drive here Triplett the tailback against the six man front now they got four four five six up in the box three wide out so for Florence Gulesby to the left McDonnell Elliott to the right on the first down play Triplett coming left looking cuts back in the middle and this time he spins hit right at the line of scrimmage who won't get anything he'll get nothing second down and ten Kevin I'm counting seven and maybe eight down into a heavy box so we've got to really try to work the edges but we've got to hit some one pass routes remember Kavante Green injured in the first half probably not back Elijah Hines did not dress tonight he's on the sideline hope he's back by next week second down and ten Falcons lead it by three we're under three to go here in the third quarter Davis looks two to the right and is back to the right one to the left now put his tight in motion Shepard to the right play action wants to pass gets rid of it and it's hopped away and hit knocked down Toby was almost getting the interception there that's what he was thinking yeah he batted that pass down right away Cade had no you know through right in the passing lane there was a defender's hand knocked the ball down knocked that play I know this Falcon team don't have it but boy you almost wish you could run like a quick pitch out here to triple and just let him use the speed and get outside it's worked well put him in a little pre-snap motion and maybe outflank him third down and 10 I would tell you with 239 to go I'd be very careful here from Florence especially after what just happened third and 10 straight drop pressure coming he's in trouble he goes down back at the 12 like I said I'd be very careful on that play they brought the house and that time Chobie and friends got the sack and Falcons had to punt it away Kevin he didn't do a good job we had a tackle that was in front of him and he kind of just let him go he didn't get beat as much as he thought he either had help or thought he was past the quarterback back deep Grissom will stand at midfield we need Sevanada to have that might have been touched by a Huntsville player Falcons might have touched it too but Jeffrey Jones right now this defense is going to be called upon one more time they're going to be tested again they need to watch number 90 on the other side he's playing very intense that's a good way to put it they can use that to their advantage if they do a hard count again I think he's going to jump I think he's playing out of his mind he's a very good athlete huge kid but he needs to get his composure use the aggression against him yeah his composure a little bit is getting out of whack defense got to step up right here this is a big one we played well we know that so it's Hansville ball at the 43 Kenny Morrison is still asking about the ball it looks like the we've got a five minute brainstorm here and they're going to say it's going to go to Huntsville I think Kenny Morrison was still arguing it might have been Florence's ball but he's not going to but oh he goes nowhere Falcons defense was there and pushed back the Falcons have to push him back because if they don't push him back they'll let them keep going forward and won't blow the whistle it's funny how it works one way when they start pushing him back they're quick to blow the whistle loss of one if you get negative yardage for the push back that'd be nice I'd be more in favor of the rule and they still said no game he never got to the line of scrimmage and they said no game it should be second and 11 second down and 10 Smith going to look to give to his back again this time hit at the 40 again pushing forward listen no whistle finally they blow it when they chop him down around the 37 gain about three settlers gets three there and it brings up third and seven you know you wonder Mike if this Huntsville team might be a little nervous throwing the ball after the interception yeah I mean you know the first few runs now you make it third and manageable this is definitely going to be a pass situation but you know the Falcon secondary is really solid so Huntsville knows what they're up against third and six actually looking left wanting to throw being flushed out the pocket he's got running room comes up and wide up and down the sideline and completes it down to the 20 to the 15 down to the 10 to the five going to the end zone and settlers he'll score a scramble route hits settlers for the touchdown and Huntsville takes the lead with 35 seconds to go in the third tough break for Florence yeah the quarterback got flushed out it was a great improvisation to play you know as they crashed down to try and get the quarterback wide receiver became wide open made a couple guys miss in the open field just beautiful athletic play after the catch Panthers touchdown PAT from Chumbleworth to come if they get the light show to stop here there may be even worse than some other places still going in trying to snap the ball that's ridiculous they snapped it with the lights going on and off and the kick is good new score 21-17 Huntsville with the lead Falcon football back in 30 seconds sphere we're open Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday until 9pm and until 930 on Friday and Saturday Hugo's is our new favorite spot Hugo's Mexican restaurant where every meal is a fiesta see you soon at 4160 Florence Boulevard at the entrance to Kendall Gardens back at Milton Frank back and forth we go seesaw fair Huntsville takes the lead 21-17 on a scramble route from Smith the settlers from 38 yards that last drive John three plays 42 yards 1 minute 22 off the clock and a 38 yard touchdown scramble pass great job by the Panthers Panthers about to kick it off you never know where they're going with it they usually like to go to their sideline I'll say that they'll do the same they'll kick it this way and the Falcons catch it right at the 50 yard line the 47 I'm not sure who fell on it is that Winkles yeah that's number 49 yes Copeland Gerald Copeland comes down with it and Copeland gets on the ball and that's that's an onside kick accidental maybe they were trying to kick it to the side every kick's been an onside kick some of them been deeper than others but every kick and I knew they got they got one already coming out of the half and it's it's a scary thing they're doing they're executing it well at the 46 though Florence now basically at midfield trailing by four with 32 seconds to go here in the third quarter playing a little empty too without green in there so Florence having to go to some subs triplet the back this time going to leave with triplet off the right side pushes forward get across the 48 to the 49 I think he got to the 49 and we'll see where the mark says never know here second down and we'll call it seven 48 and a half really yeah two two yards the official on the Huntsville sideline gives him two yards they mark the ball at the 48 yard line that ball touches the 49 near the 50 so Florence will let it go to the end of the quarter and a trail Huntsville 21-17 huge huge fourth quarter coming up for the Falcons this is this is Falcon football could win it and go on to face the winner of the mariners blue jays they lead the brewers 3-0 here action underway and it's k davis to nelson elliott for a first down as he makes a diving catch at the 42 big play and great catch by nelson elliott that was that was a great job kade threw the ball right on the money but nelson elliott with the hands there going over the middle very tough catch there made it in traffic beautiful play falcon first down i got some sauce on it kevin a lot of heat pearson in the slot to the right mcdonnell there the ball is sitting at the 43 yard line one back in the backfield it's been tripled all the way on the first and ten play play action wants to throw close across the middle and that time knocked away right over pearson's back came the defender rings up second down and ten i think it was a good play yeah coach was a little upset thinking that you know the defender ran through jay shot i think he got his hand on the ball but you know it was a bang bang play could have gone either way but you know we are the away team we're going to have to live to play another down second and ten second and ten play clock at 18 florence trails by four with 11.22 with them cheating up like that on those little hitches i'd say run a hitch and go with a jay shot up the middle if you have the time that's the key that pressure's getting there faster and faster second down and ten play action again uplifted with triplet now he bounces it got running room to the 40 to the 35 to the 30 touch back to the 30 to the 25 and down to the 21 continue to move his feet continue to chop his feet continue to move forward and the Falcons have a big first down that was a great job although delayed reaction there you know the blocks were pretty pretty well set up once he went down downfield he was able to get his pads vertical there he was able to make a few guys miss out in open space big run there by the Falcons they will mark him at the 22 is that right JJ yes sir yeah they mark him back at the 22 first and 10 play triplet nope going to pass throw the quick out complete got it to McDonald to the 20 made a man man it's 15 10 down the sideline inside the 10 to the 8 I love the little quick screen right there the quick screen but even better J shot Pearson with the block block the defender clear out of bounds really took that first down get that extra yardage J shot Pearson with a great play now the Falcons will go heavy set from the eight yard line first and goal hold your breath Falcons fans under center is Davis they jump that's five yards that's a great hard count right over the ball the nose guard couldn't hold it Jeffrey Jones you talked about that defensive line being too aggressive very aggressive they've been by the way update James Clemens and Austin tied at 17 I believe going to the fourth these are critical games under center Davis going to look to hand it off nope looks to pass looking looking I gave it away actually tall sweep I didn't see it but down around the two I thought he was going to play action but he got the tall sweep that's a good spot right at the one my apologies because I was watching the quarterback Davis he faked me on the fake there so down at the one Davis will go under center at the one second down and goal look he fumbled it goes down and he got on it he did at the two oh my goodness he tried to pick it up just get on the ball and a loss of two number 24 was in the right place Cade tried to pick it up but he dove on it number 24 did under center again you see that ball on the turf we can't we don't have time to pick that up there third down and three to go down by four with under 10 to go in the game zo Martin your tailback play action wants to pass throws it to the end zone incomplete he had his tight in open but he went for the underneath route and it brings up fourth down the underneath route wasn't even sure that was to him he pulled his hands back towards the end but he had no chance to be in bounds and catch that ball anyway you might go back now to something different what you've got here that's tough we got the ball on the within the five twice now and have not gained a yard fourth and goal at the three that's getting J-Shot's hands right here I think that's a great call JJ tell you one thing you might call a timeout here you're down to eight this is a big play don't rush call the timeout Kenny Morrison looking down and get the official's attention he finally gets the timeout called timeout taken we'll keep it right here we saw it from a mile away the PA announcer here is leading the cheers for the crowd across the way I think it's a DJ I don't think that's the PA announcer he's been announcing they had two guys then because there's another one that's real calm this one is not this is someone that's a hype man of some sort you may be right this is not the AHSAA rule book for the PA announcer to incite the crowd just wanted to throw that out there fourth and go at the three the ball is on the right hash I think he may come back and jay shot Pearson spread it now if the team comes out on the field they haven't started to flake like yet and so Pearson will come in he'll be in there in the slot to the right I think triplets you're back and here we go triplet comes back in motion to the left back to pass looking want to throw in trouble now Davis rolls throws the end zone incomplete couldn't get it there and Huntsville holds that play was disaster all over there a Huntsville player still slow to get up but he made the play and it's fourth down play that's not working the Falcons have had it three times inside the five and come away with three points out of three possessions and we're going to look back at these possessions and regardless of the outcome it needs to get better we're currently down four points with nine minutes to go it's it's not really looking great for the Falcons but we're going to want those back that's not great execution got to run the ball right there you've got to run the ball in right there you're on the two well it's going to be 98 yards away one back in the back field for the quarterback Smith he's going to leave it with his back coming off the left side and hit the four and push back and that's going to be settlers again second down now the clock becomes a little bit of a factor with 850 to go your defense needs to get the ball back as soon as possible but leaning on this defense to come up with stop after stop after stop it's tough when you're not getting points and you're inside the five three times Falcons defense has forced one turnover can another Smith has settlers in the backfield in the second down play going to leave it with settlers again trying to kick it outside and gets to the 8-9 yard line and pushes far across the 10 ball on the ground and it's Florence ball they recovered it at the 12 big break for the Falcons the officials coming to discuss they better not reverse that there will be a riot down there it should be Florence's football Florence needs to get their offense out there and start to play Florence football at the 12 they're still talking about it here we go a white hat says first down Florence big turnover right there Jeffrey Jones who recovered it I'm not sure who got it but it was a Falcon did come away with it I think Barrett might have come away with I don't know who made the hit but it was a big play and now Florence gets a fourth chance and I got a feeling number and in the back field J-Shod Pearson that quarterback with Triplett in the back field with him on the first and 10 play at the 12 J-Shod rides it out leaves it with Triplett nowhere to go he's knocked down after no game and and it it actually takes a lot of the guesswork away from Huntsville because we know we've yet to see J-Shod pass it now I'm sure that there's a wrinkle somewhere in the playbook I haven't seen yet but their ears are pinned back for this running game if you see it be ready for the tight in LaShawn Shepard second out play second and ten blitz coming Pearson going to keep it up the middle and he goes nowhere he loses shortage back to the 17 flag maybe a face mask there where I saw J-Shod's head J-Shod his head did get pulled around and that would be huge and I think it is what a break is it a 15 yarder he said this against Huntsville and it's going to mark it down inside the 10 and second down and about four to go second down and five and Florence goes heavy package with under center again Davis this time going to leave it with Martin bounces up the middle spins far to about the five and that's where he'll put down gain of about two third down and about three is that right they have to get to the two yard line J-J-J- yes they J-Shot running tailback that's correct all right under center with Pearson behind him tried for the hard count didn't work third down and four to go three to go got to get to the two for a first play clock at 10 boy everybody's up in the box going to look to give it barely got it away ball now taken by Pearson he's running for his life he's out at he's out on the track actually and there's a flag late but we'll take it it's either against Florence's sideline or it's against them for a late hit we'll see what they say he's ripping everybody into the track again so it doesn't look like this is going to it's against Huntsville okay it's a personal foul against Huntsville and that's our first down when our guy ends up on the track that means he got slung a little bit too far out of bounds 648 to go in the game Florence trails by four timeout on the field we'll be back in 30 thankfully with auto owners insurance doesn't have to be one of them auto owners works with independent agents who answer when you call so you can worry about more important things like whether your kid is going to run toward first or the score the injured back here at Milton Frank Stadium where the injured player for Huntsville is walking off under zone power it's good to see the flag will make it JJ is that second down or third down now it's going to be third again third down the ball is marked down at the two yard lines where they marked the ball now he's stepping it back going to bring it back where is he going to put it the five yard line I mean they have no idea thrown out at about the 12 yeah it would be a half yardage penalty I I think flags against Huntsville so it's going to be fourth and two and we got another flag just thrown on the defense well what's the reason JJ are they talking the defense said something to the back judge the back judge is not like it it's about time Huntsville losing their composure the offense not out there it's still third down well there's now personal foul so that's got to sort it out and it appears as though we're having trouble sorting things out we have the official personal fouls now right the ball is Huntsville penalties have gone against them they'll move it down half the distance the ball is at the two that should be enough for a first down first and two first and goal at the two now you go in there and you go and get the ball in if you can for Florence with 648 to go down 21-17 but this Huntsville defense has held the Falcons out of the end zone all this half Florence will come with a heavy package Davis will go under center Zoe Martin is your tailback on this play on the first down going to leave it with Martin off the right side little touchdown Falcons in the end zone and Florence takes the lead with 644 to go and everybody in blue very excited after that one wow it took forever Mike but we'll take it it was it's it's been a tense quarter and a half here in this second half it's been back and forth but the Falcons were able to catch a break here and there and be able to punch it in you know now we're going to have to have the defense answer the call once again good snap good hold extra point on the way extra point up extra point good by Charlie Graves new score Falcons 24 Huntsville 21 644 to go in the game don't go away this is Falcons football we are proud to be a sponsor of Florence High School Athletics no representation is made that the quality of legal services to be performed is greater than the quality of legal services performed by other lawyers 644 to go in the game and Florence find a two yard touchdown run from Zoe Martin take the lead 24 21 on a crazy night of football in Milton Frank Stadium Greenhall to kick it away puts a pretty good foot into this one going to be taken at the 10 yard line at the 15 to the 20 skips around to the 25 and knocked down at the 22 yard line and the late flag did I see a flag coming there or am I wrong no you did it it was from way on our sidelines right in front of our head coach it was a hold right in front of our head coach it was like Kenny Marson said there that's the hold and he got the call I like I said we have to their intensity we have to use it against them and we've done that on the offense did it the defense was just they were running their mouths and they were just they need to calm down and Huntsville needs to calm down Florence leads it by three it's far from over 637 to go I'm pretty sure Settlers is going to be the tailback he's been outstanding the quarterback Smith has two to the left and one to the right you've got to know where Grissom is he's a game breaker going to leave it with the tailback trying to bounce it around the right side and gets about to the 15-yard line and push down there give him about three or four that's Drake right there zero on the carry I thought it was eight I put it through binoculars but maybe you're right that's zero all right zero I will be seeing help very soon I've got one I've got one contact lens and you've got binoculars back to the right throws a quick out and incomplete boy the Falcons read that as the Huntsville Panthers go quick and it brings up third down and five with 611 to go boy you get a stop here and force a punt it would be humongous you could tell Huntsville Huntsville's reeling a little bit they're not there they really weren't concentrating on that play didn't even look back for that pass definite miscommunication there now they're going to sub with 20 on the play clock they'll flip two to the wide side so look they got in the slot Grissom they're going to try to line Grissom up with their safety you've got to watch him rolling looking left wanting to throw throws it to the middle of the field and overthrows everybody and he almost intercepted tremendous job by the Falcon defense they ran the route better than the Huntsville Panther did right there and you know while Jay Shaw made a wonderful play on that the problem was is that he actually by getting his hands on the ball tipped it up gave the Huntsville player another opportunity but great job by the Falcons there to possibly force a three and out now let's be let's be safe about this one being in the fourth quarter this is going to be tough don't go crazy just sit there no just sit in there don't jump there's the snap and Richardson punts it away and Jay Shod will go back and let it hit he won't even touch it get away from the ball everybody makes a Florence bounce back at the 49 to the 50 almost Falcons have it in great territory 554 leading by three and they're 51 yards away from maybe putting this away and going five and one and reaching play our friend is the clock right now and as Chris Berman would say after every play tick tick tick tick tick that's what we need right here Falcons have an opportunity to really put this game out of reach both teams have two timeouts triplets going all the way at tailback and being outstanding the best game of his senior season can he do it one more time Goolsby to the right McDonald to the left the big blue band playing cheerleaders cheering here we go going to leave with triplet and he's hitting the backfield and he's going to get back and spin for it and get about three yards and all the way up to the 48 he was hit for a loss of two and he ended up getting three second down and seven and the clock will tick under six minutes Kevin we've got some Panthers some D linemen I'm noticing they're getting up slow they're limping they're gassed but triplets coming out a little gimpy there so the Carson Johnson will come in and that might change what you're thinking here but I think triplets said I'm okay just give me a breather might have got that ankle a little twisted when he was tackled Falcons can run it down to almost the 5-10 mark Davis the quarterback has been outstanding Davis going to leave with Johnson no throw the quick out got it batted down incomplete had him out there but again that defensive line getting the hands up and it brings up third down and stops the clock most importantly at 5-09 that's a good job by the defensive line there to be able to get their hands up and knock down that ball for a second time looked like number 90 on that tip he is being unbelievable Shelby is a junior we'll see him again next year no thanks third and eight at the 49 15 hands on if Alabama passes an NIL rule Kevin one back in the backfield I think that is still Johnson to the left blitz coming Davis just needs to get rid of it going what a one got McDonald out there he caught it at the 15 and knocked down at the 13 what a throw by Davis what a play by McDonald that's the biggest play of the game first down Florence that was a huge play there by Cade being able to throw it up and just loft it loft it up into the basket and Jimmy McDonald did a great job of really just reading that one and catching it in stride great job they brought the house that was a Peyton Manning play he knows he's in one-on-one coverage and he just lays it out there to give his guy chance is Johnson still in at tailback I think he is yes he is Johnson at tailback from the 12 man in motion Davis takes his time gonna leave with Johnson off the left side got to the 10 to the 5 he'll walk into the end zone touchdown Florence to Carson Johnson and with 430 to go Florence is up by two scores 30 to 21 and the boys in blue going crazy what a great job by that old line getting in there they got all the D linemen on the ground what about it Mike that was a play by the Carson Johnson that was a beautiful job he was gonna cut it outside he saw the hole open up stuck his foot in the turf and exploded through that hole had nobody touch him ran right in for the touchdown Graves P-A-T on the way Graves P-A-T it's up it is good new score Florence 31 Huntsville 21 430 to go in the game this is Falcon football see us in 30 Florence Utilities offers several last drive for florence john mcdaniel having four plays 51 yards minute 23 set up by a 35-yard pass play to mcdonald but a what 16-yard touchdown run by the carson johnson greenhal boots it away and that one goes all the way through into the end zone touchback we'll take it from the youngster i don't wait to put the touchback at the biggest time of the game i'll take that from a kicker any day jeffrey jones jj still walking on the sideline sorry i had my i had the mic in the wrong hand uh yeah i would i'll take that any day as well that's a good spot we're gonna have 80 yards to go with four minutes and 30 seconds left is that a left handed or right handed microphone well i was holding a lot of things here a couple microphone phone yeah sorry i got nothing else they're dancing in the stands and they're trying to get mike and john to dance with them here you go john first and 10 at the 20 for the panthers this defense has got to play big for florence here smith the quarterback back looking to the right side those the out complete got at the 17 out to the 23 and knocked out of bounds around the 26 yard line as he swings it to his back out of the backfield i believe that's still drake 423 to go stop the clock you're up you don't want to make it too easy here you got to make sure that you play good defense might right continue to play your game you know and be able to just keep everything in front of you force them to make little little plays eliminate the big play make them little plays and have them run the clock the clock is your friend at this point straight drop looking to the left blitz coming now he's flushed out of the pocket rolls to the right that's when he's dangerous now he throws away incomplete had nowhere to go with it throws it away with 414 to go to bring up third down and three good call by coach wisdom he managed to get an unblocked defender off of the front side but the quarterback just able to shake him loose but great defensive effort good coverage in the backhand Lawrence getting some subs in on the defensive line they've been unbelievable third and three here I wouldn't be surprised if Huntsville runs the ball here they need to get the first down is that settlers that came back in the game now oh my binoculars are left handed all right here we go to the left Dawkins Dawkins in the game straight drop wants to throw Smith has pressure Smith sacked almost throws it away and almost intercepted brings up fourth down that ball was floating in the air and the Falcons were coming for it Burski was coming up on it I think it was we'll double check the nose irons but it brings up fourth and three from the 27 and Huntsville has no choice they've got to go for it this if Florence could stop them here could be it up by 10 where it's down 21-17 and Florence has put 14 up in the fourth quarter and listen to the Falcon crowd they're on their feet at Milton Frank the road crowd trying to pull the boys in white and blue through trips to the left back to pass looking wanting to pass flushing out of the pocket he's in trouble rolling he's in trouble he's sacked he's going back he's still on his feet and he falls down back at the 10 and Florence defense would not let him get anywhere close to throwing the ball and what about that day Mike Albertson the defense was relentless they did a great job on that play the quarterback was truly running for his life he was just running back and forth had no chance but the Falcons coming up with that big fourth down play we've got some extra help from the officials because he's still running the clock despite the ball being dead we lost about 15 seconds there so 337 to go Nate Pride was in on that along with Jaden White those big guys they were not going to let him get rid of it and now Florence will have it at the 10 yard line up by 10 with 357 to go now you want to take care of the football don't do anything stupid just run some plays here points are not the key right here clock is the key in taking care of the football points would be nice though Davis will come out there at quarterback and I think it's still Johnson going to be in a tailback if I'm not mistaken first down play at around the 10 and the Panthers nearly jumped Davis looks back to the sideline Shepard will go in motion to the left Davis leaps inside with his tailback cuts it back to the 10 yard line and gets far to about the seven gain of about two or three take care of the football and the clock will run almost down to three minutes leading by ten Jeffrey Jones DeCarson Johnson in the biggest moment not got many carries but he come in and gets a touchdown and play with a little confidence here what a great number two to walk in and you know DeCarson hadn't gotten as much playing time this year as he did last year but man this is a perfect time for him to earn he's done a great job Goolspey wide left McDonnell wide right Davis will run that clock down on the second down play second down in eight to go from the ten going to leave it with Johnson again pushes forward and hit at the seven again you get probably no gain and the clock will continue to run Huntsville won't use the time out yet really surprised by this Kevin not using time outs third down and about seven to go I would not kick a field goal here no matter what you're up by ten but a block kick makes it more dangerous to get scored quick on I know you're good with it but I wouldn't try it I'd just run my offense down here I wouldn't throw it here either I'd go ahead and run it again and maybe run this clock all the way down and call the time out see what Kenny Marson will do looks like that's where he's at gonna let the clock run and he's gonna put his offense in there with six with five with four and they're gonna run the play three two get the snap going to the left side this time Johnson's in trouble he goes down at the 15 they brought the blitz that time and he knocked down at the 15 yard line and with 218 and counting and Huntsville still not using their timeouts William Gay gonna save those two timeouts for next week maybe that would be nice you know on fourth down here now I might put it in the air to the end zone Mike I might go ahead and say all right give Jimmy McDonald a chance we're gonna let it run down to one second and call timeout would you maybe go for the throw right here and let him have a chance I mean look it's going to be hard to argue with any play I know that you say don't kick it I always like putting points on the board I don't think it helps you I know it helps you with 10 but 13 two touchdowns but it also forces two extra points which isn't a gimme at this level timeout on the field we'll keep it right here I argue with you for this reason your defense has played outstanding I'd rather give them the ball inside the 15 yard line than kick it off to them so I'm just gonna play it safe here and I think Kenny Marston first of all says let's see what we'll do here he brings his team over his fourth down and basically 15 yards to go Jeffrey Jones they sit at what yard line now the 17 the actual 16 well in between the 16 and 17 yard line and I have to touch the two for the first down yeah that's it I mean it's it's a long way to go minute 38 on the clock by the way Huntsville still has two timeouts Florence with one and Kenny Marston his team down by four has rallied back to go up by ten would you run a screen or a draw right here I'd be safe I throw if I don't I throw it in the end zone I don't give them a chance I don't throw it short it's got to be a throw in the end zone because we've got to get to what the one to score I mean to the first down I like it they go spread everybody's up in the box except one on one out here let's see if they give Jimmy McDonald a chance straight drop wants to throw throw the fade to the right side McDonald's out there caught it touchdown Falcons put the exclamation point from Davis to McDonald and it's a beauty let's fly home to Florence with a win tonight what a game Florence up 36 21 37 21 pinned in the extra point I just want to highlight early on in the season we didn't really know what the quarterback situation was going to be like Cade Davis had struggled in that first game and got taken out well he has bounced back since then and has played tremendously it's been his team his game and he's really led this team so great job on Cade to show that adversity early on but coming back great play to Jimmy McDonald beautiful touch Austin Austin is going for two points in the win at their game with 30 seconds to go after a touchdown we'll keep you updated on that one if they score that two point conversion they'll take the lead with 30 seconds if not next week could be incredible extra point up extra point good new score Florence 38 Huntsville 21 this is Falcon football we're back in 30 it's football time in Alabama the players are hitting the field the cheerleaders are firing up the crowd the drum majors striking up the band and we all stand to the national anthem this is congressman robert adderholt while you cheer your favorite team this season i'll be on president trump's team shaking things up in washington when we stand on conservative principles it's a win for everyone i'm robert adderholt and i approve this message paid for by adderholt for congress 131 to go oh unsportsmanlike penalty on the falcons so the falcons will have a 15 yarder on the kickoff with 134 to go but the falcons lead it and austin just took the lead over james clemens with 30 seconds to go 31 30 here forenst though up by 17 with 134 to go that last drive there john was a good one well kevin it was i believe it was four plays and it only took 11 yards but two minutes 22 seconds to get there good squib kick by green hog down the field we'll bounce and take in at the 25 bouncing outside stays on his feet at the 40 and finally to midfield and brought down around midfield there so good run back for grissom with 126 to go in a 17 point game somebody might say well you get some different guys in the game no no no this is region playoffs at stake you do not you close this out I agree normally normally I'm I'm a substitute person but this is still just a let's get out of here with a win let's make sure time to make a statement play well play smart play clean four wide outs for the quarterback Smith Smith straight drop wanting to pass looks to throw the swing pattern complete got it to Drake out here to the 45 breaks attack with a 40 stays on his feet stays knocked out of bounds at the 34 with 116 and a flag on the play it's got to be got to be in the area of holding down field maybe defensive holding our guys look appear like it's on us so I'm not certain how's it defensive holding so it'll be at the 31 yard line after the penalty so you're up by 17 with 117 to go but you've given have they marked it off Kevin have they done anything they haven't okay it is Austin just won in overtime on a two point conversion still 30 seconds to go 30 seconds to go the last I heard run in the round to left and not get it back to pass looking throws to the left side incomplete try to get to Batson Batson couldn't catch it the pass was under thrown Falcons defense playing a little prevent 111 to go second down and goal or not to go second down and 10 at the 15 two wide outs to the right two to the left for the quarterback Smith back to pass looking to the right this time wanting to throw throws the out pattern complete at the 20 pushed out to the 15 to the 10 great speed down the sideline to the five he's close to the end zone they give him the touchdown they do touchdown Huntsville so Huntsville scores with a minute on the clock to cut it to 38 27 how big was that touchdown now by Jimmy McDonald so will Huntsville go for two here I think they are they appear to be going for two so they'll go for two points here and this is a big play too it would still be a nine point game Huntsville still has what do they still have two timeouts left I think they do I haven't got them with any timeouts called this half they had one I know they called them in this half two wide receiver decided and a flag I think they're going to get an illegal substitution against Huntsville the official the official said I didn't like what I saw there and he's going to call a flag against Huntsville on the two-point try if you're Florence you've got to just cover the ball and recover an onside kick in a few minutes like I said wild things happen I'm not ever going to put this one away until it's put away people are cheering in the stand something must have happened at the seven back to pass looking to the right now he looks at those across a little wide open and got the two-point conversion it's good so the two-point conversion is good trims this lead to 38-29 after the touchdown by Grissom with one minute to go this is Falcon football we're back in 30 this is Miranda Haddock with the Florence Education Foundation we would like to extend an invitation to our 8th annual Shoals Also Showdown on Saturday November 15th from 2 to 5 PM at First Metro Bank Chick-fil-A Bank Independent United Benefits and Johnson and Mayhan Dental We want to wish Coach Morrison and the Falcon football team good luck this season New score Florence leads at 38-29 with a minute to go Huntsville attempting an onside kick now final score James Clemons just walked it off with a field goal to win it 33-31 over Austin the Falcons if they win tonight can be playing for a region championship next week against Spartan and they got to finish this one off first wow this region has been absolutely unreal still one minute though like you said Kevin that's a big minute that's a big minute you're still up two scores with nine but you've got to recover one of the two onside kicks possibly don't hope there's not a second one James Clemons wins it on a walk-off against Austin and Florence right now sits the top class 7a region four the word starting to get to the sideline too they're starting to celebrate on the sideline a little bit but you got to win this first it looks like I think and that's what it just reached the sidelines they're going to kick the onside kick here you've got to spread out and I don't like the Falcons are right now they're not spread out enough you've got to spread out and you've got to be able to go get the ball no matter what the onside kick goes hadn't gone 10 yet pretty good hop Falcons got it going to run it for a touchdown to the 20 to the 15 10 5 touchdown Florence caught it on a hop and hopped into the end zone and the Falcons will mob him I'm not sure who got that was a whistle on the field flag on the play let's wait and see it's going to be after the play but it certainly should be on the Falcons I don't know what it will be called but we had some guys not show some very good class right there so Florence Sistrunk caught it and ran it back 52 yards I wouldn't advise it but it just bounced right in his hands Mike and he took off down the left side line wide open right so as you were saying earlier as the Falcons were lining up Sistrunk actually came to the outside he adjusted well to the outside and that play wide open for him the ball bounced right up into his chest and there was nobody in front so he just ran it in graves p-a-t attempt coming snap good hold good kick on the way kick up kick good Florence leads it 45-29 with 52 seconds to go this is Falcon football we're back Florence now leaves it 45 29 16 point lead after kickoff return by Sistrunk 52 yards on the onside kick attempt I begged somebody to recover it we recovered it all right so kicking off after a five yard penalty will be Greenhall from the 35 I went and squib it here I just go ahead and kick as far as I can and that's what he does he boots it all the way down inside the 10 after the five yard penalty taken there by the Panthers and spins out and knocked down right at the 24 yard line now Jeffrey Jones the big key it's just finish this off and finish it off with class you finish it off and keep your head up class is the thing we've had a couple plays ourselves where we didn't execute flawlessly like we should have with class and respect but Huntsville has to we've got to clean that up this is game eight I know this far team is excited but this is where they just take care of themselves and so class here cooler heads will prevail we have enough smart kids in our team to where we can keep that from happening only takes one that's all I'll say first and ten for the Panthers back to pass looking right now those left completely got out to Grissom he splits a triple team and finally gets out to the 35 he is a fast really good player there Mike he has so many moves but Mornay just has great speed yeah great top line speed he's able to have a quick step he gets the top speed pretty quick as well so he's a great athlete 32 seconds and counting throw it across the middle and complete actually complete on the sideline excuse me as he faked and went to the sideline and it's going to be a first down down on the 50 yard line Falcons make a tackle there with 24 seconds to go can't get him in play with the clock to run well I take that back the clock is running clock's running Jimmy Gay has saved those two timeouts I don't think he shows class he's an old coach that knows his veteran stuff Smith going to pass again drop back has plenty of time steps up in the pocket I think he'll throw as far as he can he throws it to the sideline and it's incomplete and that runs it down to six seconds on the clock should be the last play should be this Huntsville team still has something to play for I'm not sure how this all shakes out but they've still got a real good chance to get in the playoffs so it's a lot to play for but Florence one play away from maybe putting this one away back to pass Smith looking again last play of the game steps up in the pocket now he's going to be hit now he gets away now he's going to run with it and he slides down that's a great play just go ahead and slide down and that'll do it Florence wins it by a score of 45-29 Falcons celebrate this is Falcon football we're back in two minutes hi I'm Dr. Brady Citizen with Treehouse Children's Dentistry this season remember at Carbine Construction we build trust we build relationships and like the Florence Falcons football team at Carbine Construction we continue to build good news Falcon fans on the road down by three at the end of three they'll win it over Huntsville 45-29 let's go down to Jeffrey Jones with the happy head coach Kenny Marson coach come come from behind win and down down late in the game tell us about it well I know the radio's not going to see the smile on my face right now but we got some we got some young men that'll fight till the end they never again just like at JC they never wavered when the scores happened on them never wavered under adversity so proud of these young men this senior class is set the bar really high from here on and I'm so proud of those young men we faced a really good team tonight they were a very good team and they were what we expected them to be what was the difference with us we felt like again our speed speed kills and we've got some really good skilled guys that made some plays when they had to make plays they were very physical like we thought they were on both sides of the ball and we just kept fighting we just kept holding in there until one of our guys made a play and we did had some big ones for us tonight I'll be honest we didn't really expect to be in this position where we are right now but we're in a great position going into our last region game next week well I just heard JC kick the field goal to win and last second puts us in first we're holding the top spot to be number one and win a region championship for this community and this school will be huge but we've got Sparkman ahead of us really good football team we've just got to keep being Florence go enjoy this win for 24 hours then work on Sparkman thank you a happy head coach as he should be Kenny Marson Florence wins it 45-29 after trailing 17-14 at the end of three the Falcons went back to back touchdowns to take the lead and they would not relinquish it and this Falcon team somehow some way just keeps finding ways to win games Mike Albertson they've figured some things out they've done exactly what the coaches have asked them to do and they found themselves in position to win in years past the Falcons when they face adversity and everything will be a little bit different story the Falcons have not stopped this year they've really dug deep and when time's gotten tough they've figured out a way to come away with victories that's a game changing performance right there from the third to the fourth quarter and the Falcons pulled it off it's just a magical game a magical situation and the Forens are having a great season they're putting it all out there and just man I think JJ said it best we didn't really think that we would be in this position early on in the season but this team has gutted it out week in and week out and found a way and you've got to be proud of this crew cool calm collected Cade Davis the quarterback I'm not sure but I don't think he threw a pick tonight either again he's thrown I don't know how many touchdowns he had tonight in the air but several three on the night give him 15 of the season 15 and 2 15 to 2 interceptions is unbelievable and the thing is with Cade Davis is there's something about him that you know we didn't know we were like man where's where we're going to find the quarterback where we're going to find the quarterback and all of a sudden Cade Davis says you know what I'm a senior and it's my position and I'm going to take over and every game he grows a little more and a little more and a little more and I don't care who you're playing I don't care what the competition I don't care what region hats off to Cade Davis for what he's done this season as quarterback he has been my MVP quietly behind the scenes yes absolutely you know and you know how your quarterback plays sometimes how the team goes and he's played really really well and the Falcons have won a bunch of games so like look everyone's doing their job and everything this doesn't happen without the defense or the wide receivers or the offensive line or anything this is a team game but Cade Davis has definitely led the way for the Falcons final stats brought to us by our good friends at Chick-fil-A John McDaniel are you close I'm done I'm ready let's go he's ready to rock and roll let's take it over there to him a lot of things we talked about in the pregame wound up manifesting in the stats and on the scoreboard let's start with the Panthers tonight for the game the Crimson Panthers 294 yards of offense they had 205 yards rushing on 38 carries 10 completions on 22 attempts for 89 yards total they had 18 first downs tonight 2 for 11 on third downs and 1 for 3 on fourth down that's a terrific job by the defense 12 penalties for 80 yards they had 2 turnovers and their time of possession 22 minutes 47 seconds Falcons tonight 350 total yards of offense we had 33 rushes for 145 yards wow we had 11 completions on 23 attempts for 205 yards 20 first downs 4 for 10 on third down conversions 1 for 2 on fourth down conversions 8 penalties for 60 yards we also 2 turnovers and our time of possession we won this finally for the second time on the season 25 minutes and 7 seconds Cade you mentioned him he was 11 for 23 tonight 2-12 through the air and 3 touchdowns as we said leading rusher Kalon Triplett 19 carries for 120 yards couldn't get him in the end zone but a great job by that young man and an average of 6.5 yards to carry and John Carter Goolsbee 3 catches 98 yards and a touchdown that's it Kevin that's what we got it started in Huntsville on the opening drive going all the way down the field and scoring behind a Sanders 2 yard touchdown with 7.32 to go to make it 7-0 it was Davis to Goolsbee for Florence though to answer back late in the first quarter on that big 78 yard touchdown pass to tie it up at 7 then again it was Drake for Huntsville with a 1 yard run to complete a long drive to make it 14-7 in the second quarter but Florence answered right back again it was Davis this time to Pearson and Jay Shod wiggled his way forward and dives forward to get an 8 yard touchdown to tie it at 14 and that's where we were at the half in the third quarter Florence got the ball to start the third quarter and maybe the biggest play of the game they fumbled the kickoff Huntsville got it we thought oh no here we go but the Florence defense holds gets the ball back on downs right back there and Florence drives and puts up a field goal from Charlie Grace who makes it 17-14 that is a big play a 24 yard field goal and then in the fourth quarter Florence then really takes control excuse me Huntsville comes back takes the lead 21-17 as they led it with Settlers getting the pass and going in from 38 yards out then we go to the fourth quarter down by four and it was in the fourth quarter Florence scored 31 points to win this game 38-29 unbelievable plays right there for the Falcons Johnson got a big run in that play DeCarson Johnson to put it away at 38-21 it was just amazing all around and Settrunk with the kickoff return to make it 45-29 the final here I tell you so much scoring was going on I didn't get all the scores written down but I'll go back and get them my apologies to all but I know Kay Davis as you said with three touchdown passes Florence's Kalon Triplett his best game of his senior season and boy if there's a team playing any harder right now than the region four of class 7A it's the Florence Falcons who now sit atop alone and have one game left against Spartman next Friday night they'll take on the Senators and we're looking forward to that one you're listening to the TNT Fireworks postgame show we're back in one minute it's football time in Alabama the players are hitting the field the cheerleaders are firing up the crowd the drum majors striking up the band and we all stand to the national anthem this is Congressman Robert Adderholt while you cheer your favorite team this season I'll be on President Trump's team shaking things up in Washington when we stand on conservative principles it's a turn the lights out on us they're ready to go home we are too we're going home happy to Florence as the Falcons win at 45-29 on the TNT Fireworks post game show let's get our final thoughts from our good friends around the horn let's start with our sideline reporter Jeffrey Jones lots of maturity we've come a long way we've got Kay Davis has grown up and I mean you know not that he's not a strapping young man himself but you know he's grown up and he's matured a lot and so has John Carter Goolsby you know to start off as the backup quarterback and get moved to receiver great move makes his coaches look like geniuses really I mean and I can't say that those coaches aren't geniuses but some of those you know I didn't agree with every play call they had tonight but they executed well you know it could have hurt us being within the 10 yard line three times and not coming away with points that worries me a little bit if there's anything to work on we need to work on putting it in when the game's on the line one thing that we talked about on the way home a couple weeks ago was we need to learn to win the close and the tough games and I think we've come a long way and we've learned to win some of these tough games some of these games in the past we might not have won just because of luck some because of you know intensity and that sort of thing I really I really think this Falcon team has showed more improvement from game one to game eight than any other team I can remember at this point John McDaniel I'll let you take it from here well I think JJ's right on most of his points and I think that the Falcons have done a good job as he's made mention of they've matured and they've gotten better the team that played week one and two against the two really good teams has is they wouldn't recognize themselves playing this week because they play together coach mentioned about how they were resilient they really do they do a good job of so what now what and they play the next play and they did it tonight they had some plays that they gave up some big plays and they just continue to fight back and you know as JJ said I might would look at it was glass half full we had three chances to score another touchdown despite scoring 45 points tonight had chances to score even more so this Falcon team has really done a great job of taking the coaching getting better every week and you know just the way things have broke now we're playing next week for a regional championship that these guys deserve they've worked hard for but you all are going to have to come out and earn it they're going to get Sparkman's best shot and I'm glad we've got one more home game for the Falcons Mike yeah I mean look the guys said it all and quite frankly this team has grown each and every week they've worked hard they've done everything that the coaches have asked them to do and then some and I mean I think Coach Morrison had shared with us at one point about the senior leaders taking ownership of this team and one of the practices is that coach I don't think we're doing enough and the boys told him what he wanted to do and coach listened and you know what that's that's trusting the coach and trusting his players to know what they need and they came out and I think they wore pads all week and they beat each other's tail and it translated and it translated on to the field and the team started believing at that point they started winning games that they probably shouldn't have and now we're talking about a culture a culture that's different today than it was in the beginning of the season and everyone's bought in and so like when you listen to your coaches and you have a lot of success it's really easy to get on the bandwagon but Falcon fans I'm telling you right now if you're not in those stands cheering on the Falcons this week where's your head at because these guys are fighting for you and fighting for this city so get out there and fill up Raleigh Stadium for these boys yeah man y'all touched on everything and fill up Raleigh Stadium would be my sentiment as well hey I mean we can brag on these kids and players all week long and they deserve it but let me start with Kenny Morrison that's a veteran coach that has been around a long time and he said you know what guys we can do this and he made this team start believing when they didn't really believe he made his young coaching staff start believing when they weren't sure to believe it started with the head coach it started trickling down to his staff but then it trickled down to the players and right now they're ready to take on the Green Bay Packers I mean that's just the way they were tonight they're like my goodness we think we can play with anybody every week we come into a game and our radio crew and many times we'll say on film guys I just don't know if we match up very well we don't match we didn't think we matched up well tonight coming into this game and yet the better team was the boys from Florence and the Falcons are flying as high as can be and they will play for their third possible ever region championship next week they won it in 2007 they won it in 2014 and now they go for region championship number three with a win over Spartan next week at Brawley Stadium Florence fans you need to be there Florence fans you need to come out and support this team be loud and be proud they are playing for a region championship and a number one seed and a home playoff game in class 7A football hats off to Kenny Marson and the Florence Falcons that's going to do it tonight for us on the TNT fireworks post game show don't forget after our broadcast the HSA scoreboard show for the next couple hours you'll hear all about it here on 93.9 the score for my good friends that are here tonight I'll talk about them in a minute but first for my good friend Greg Thornton we couldn't do this without him appreciate Greg for many years being a
