Now let's join the Falcons radio crew live from the stadium for pregame coverage.

After an 0-2 start to the season, the Florence Falcons have won five of their last six and tonight for the first time in 11 years, the Florence Falcons will play for a region title and for the first time a region title possibly in class 7A. Welcome to Florence Falcons football. Hello, everyone. I'm Kevin Johnson, voice of the Florence Falcons, and welcome to a very special T&T Fireworks pregame show tonight as the Falcons get ready to take on the senators of Spartan High School and joined by my color analyst, good friend, Mike Albertson.

And Mike, this is what makes high school football so much fun tonight, a game like this. My goodness, I know how we have felt as a radio crew. I know, I can't imagine what these players and coaches are feeling tonight. It's what it's all about. Oh, absolutely. This is what the team's worked for, you know, to be in this position. They've worked hard. They've figured out some things. They've had to answer some questions along the way, faced adversity. But to put themselves in this position after, you know, improvement as the season has gone on has been nothing but remarkable.

This team has really gelled together at the right time, and here we are, you know, in the beginning of the season. We didn't think we'd be here, but this team has answered all those questions. And when we shook everything out, they're in first place right now with a chance to capture the region title tonight. I'll give you an idea how things work. Mike and I usually meet up to ride over here together, and usually it's around 5 o'clock. I think we were there at 4.30. We were ready to leave. We're getting ready early.

You know, we get here. People are already here. People are in our parking places. You know, we're like, man, just people are everywhere. There's an excitement in the air. That's when it's fun. That's when you know you've done something pretty special. Oh, absolutely. You know, not only the buy-in of the, you know, the community, but the schools, the fan base. You know, you're going out throughout the community this week, seeing people at the gym. They're talking about this game. You go to the supermarket. They're asking, you know, what the chances are tonight.

So, you know, wherever you go, they're bleeding falcon blue out there, and it's great to see. Hopefully they show up tonight and really cheer on these falcons. I had a sweet lady at our church at First Baptist Church Florence where I pastored. She came up Sunday morning to hug my neck, and I thought, well, that was really nice. And when she hugged my neck, she whispered, how about them falcons? So even the senior adults are loving it, so I love that as well. And, Mike, this region is very even. We have seen that all year.

But how has this falcons team found wins? I mean, it's just you look up and you're like, wow, you're 5-1 in region play. You know, you go up and down this, you know, the schedule, and you see the wins and losses, and you go, like, how'd they figure out a way to win that game? Or, you know, it came with different phases in different games. The Bob Jones game and the Huntsville game, you know, they ran the ball especially well. You know, some of the other games, they went through the air quite a bit.

And so they found different ways to win, but it captured, you know, each and every game was captured in a different way. But when all three phases are clicking, this falcon team is definitely formidable. Coach Kenny Morrison, man, what a job he's done. Unbelievable. To get this team to hear where we are tonight after the start of the season, it's one amazing job, one of the best jobs I've seen at Florence High School. Absolutely. And coming into the season, he's had to change his offensive and defensive coordinator, so get new guys under his wing as well, but being able to make some tough decisions.

You know, quarterback was a question mark in the beginning of the season, answered some of those questions. And, you know, when he looks up and he's one and three, and he's not happy with the product that's out there, he sat there and said, hey, we've got to do a lot of soul searching. And he answered that call at that point. He kind of, you know, circled the wagons for a second, asked a lot of his coaches, and they figured out a bunch of ways to rattle off a lot of wins to put themselves in this position.

So, you know, and sometimes, you know, it's doing more with less, and Coach has done some of that as well. So it's just nothing but a remarkable job this season for the Falcons. Last night, I got to sit down with the head coach, Kenny Marson, as we were at Lost Pizza for the Florence Falcon football night on Thursday night at Lost Pizza. Lost Pizza, one of our great sponsors. We appreciate them taking care of our pregame meal. They'll take care of you as well. Here are the thoughts from head coach Kenny Marson on tonight's big matchup.

[5:06] Joined now by head coach Kenny Marson, the Florence Falcons, and Coach, rewind last week. Big win at Huntsville. You go on the road, and the white jerseys were quite kind to you. Yes, it was a great win for us, especially on the road. And Huntsville, a really good football team. Big, physical, and we just were able to outlast them in the fourth quarter. That was a big thing for you, and your team now has put together this win streak and starting to believe in themselves and believe in the system.

Is that a big part of it, just the belief part of the whole team? Yeah, it's just, you know, we talk to them about it all the time, about trust the process. And there's a lot that goes into the process. And I know everybody hears different coaches across the country at every level talk about the process and what that actually is. But a lot goes into it, and it's just doing the little things right, trusting your coaches and practicing hard and trusting your teammates. Your team has been the chaser from game one and region play.

Now they're being chased. That's a different target on their back. Have you talked to them about that a little bit this week and the importance of how to handle this week? Well, we've talked to them about blocking out the noise. We've talked to them about not listening to what Coach Saban calls rat poison. We've got to focus on us, continue to work on the things that we as Falcons do wrong, and focus on what we do well and continue to do what we do and get better each week and not worry about the next opponent up, how big a game it is.

It's just the next week we've got to play. And as long as we take care of us, everything else takes care of itself. Speaking with Coach Kenny Morrison, the Florence Falcons. And Coach, last week your offensive line maybe had their best game of the season. Running game really got going, great timing. Yes, K-Line Tripp had a great night. But those guys opened up a lot of holes for him. And he had a lot of – just was gelling, working, had a lot of confidence in each other that he was going to hit the right hole and they were going to make the right hole.

And he was seeing it really well. So I kind of equated a little bit to baseball. You know, sometimes that baseball is coming at you and it looks like an aspirin tablet. Sometimes it looks like a beach ball. And the other night it looked like a beach ball to him. He was finding those holes and it was there. Your team gets ready to take on a Spartan Senator team. They've got a lot to play for too. They're a talented team. What do you expect out of the Senators?

They're going to bring their best. And, you know, sometimes when you played Spartan in the past and maybe the season hadn't gone like they wanted it to and basketball season started and a bunch of those guys always play basketball. And, you know, sometimes it doesn't pan out for them at the end. But they've got a lot of life, a lot to work for. They are fired up about this game. I mean, there's a lot on the line for them. I mean, it's first place. It's second place.

It could be anything from being at home, traveling all the way to Mobile. So, a lot on the line. Speaking with Coach Kenny Morrison. Coach, before I let you go, tonight the biggest game of the season, obviously, for you, the last region game. You come out. You're excited about the team, the way they're playing. But what about this senior group, how they've handled this season? Just a great group of young men, you know, that have bought in from the start. Kind of feel like they're my guys.

This is my group. They came in with me my first year and they were freshmen. And, you know, it's four years of, you know, listening to only me. And I don't know if that's always a good thing. But these guys have bought into what we've been preaching. And they're a mature group. They love each other. They love their coaches. And their coaches love them. And we're just going to try to keep this thing going. Coach, let's go get a win and then let's go to Waffle House.

Absolutely. Can't wait. Sounds good. Coach Kenny Morrison, the Florence Falcons. You're listening to the TNT Fireworks pregame show. Back in one minute. Have you ever seen those halftime scholarships where you have to nail a 40-yard field goal? Yeah, this isn't that. I didn't have to write a long essay or audition or make a half-court shot. 93-9, the score. You're home for Florence Falcons since 2004. Broadcast 164 for yours truly as we're at Brawley Stadium. Kevin Johnson, Mike Albertson, and both teams out warming up right now at Brawley Stadium. And already a nice crowd starting to file in for Florence. We're about 45 minutes away or a little bit more from kickoff of this key 7A Region 4 matchup tonight. Mike, last week we found success, Florence did, on the ground. That is a game changer, and Florence can continue that tonight going forward. Absolutely. You know, the run game obviously helps.

[10:31] Controlling that line of scrimmage is definitely huge. We saw Florence against Bob Jones really get after it and get that game going. They were able to control the clock and really take the ball out of Bob Jones' hands. And by being able to run the ball effectively and control the clock like that, you really control the pace of the game. And so if Lawrence is able to do that tonight, they're going to have a great opportunity to take this one away from the Sparkman Center. There has been a buzz in this town, in this city.

There's been a buzz in this school. Everyone's excited. How do you keep this team focused if you're Kenny Marson going into this game? I mean, I think it's the same message that he shares quite often, is do your job, and we have to focus on us. We can't worry about who the opponent is or what we're doing. We really need to be able to take care of business as it comes. When we do our job and we're really focused on doing things well, that personal responsibility of doing the job for your teammates and caring about it that way, this is just like any other game.

And it all means nothing if you don't come away with a victory. So a big game or a small game, I mean, if you're not up for this one, you're not up for anything. So the Falcons have an opportunity to clean things up and take care of business tonight. You don't even want to go into the tiebreaker scenario or anything else. I mean, that's like calculating the last number in pie. It's just not going to happen right now. There's too many factors that come into play.

So the Falcons coming out, just do your job. Focus on what you need to focus on. And it's each and every play that we're worried about. We're worried about that next play. We're not worried about what's ahead or where we're going or where we're headed. We've got to take care of business tonight. Our third member of the crew, he works at the sidelines. He's up in the booth with us right now, our good friend Jeffrey Jones. JJ, you had a good week? Absolutely. It's been a long week, but we're here tonight.

We've been just anticipation has been growing. So here we go. I think that's right. Anticipation has been growing. And by the way, how about bringing out the jackets and coats tonight? Football weather's arrived. A new gear coming out tonight or old gear, but it's long sleeve gear for sure. I don't have enough gear to it. So my wife kind of makes fun of me a little bit. I'm not a cold winter weather guy. So, you know, I told her, I was like, I better pack two jackets tonight.

She's like, why? I said, because it's going to get down in the 50s. So, which I don't even know that for sure. But I'm a whole, I'm a 90 to 95 degree, 90% community kind of guy. I'm a summer type guy. So, yeah, it's football weather. It's here. Whether I like it or not, it's here. So, you know, we'll see how it goes. It is a good night for football, nice early fall. It's only going to get colder, I know that. It's not too cold a night. Now, Thursday night, when we go to Oxford, you might want to bring a couple extra jackets because it's supposed to be in the 40s at kickoff.

Oh, man. So, it's going to be cold. I'm going to have to practice long, John, for that. Yeah, that's going to be a real one then. One thing that I noticed last year, our first round playoff game, I was going back looking at pictures of us at Opelika, and I was wearing short sleeves that night. Oh, yeah. That night. Of course, we're playing down in Florida. That's another thing, too. You're all the way down there. Long way from here to there. This game is about tonight.

Let's not go down to Florida. Let's not go to the beach. Let's keep this thing here a win tonight, and the Falcons can keep that game here in the playoffs, and we hope they will do that. You know, JJ, how has it been to see this team continue to grow game after game after game? One thing that we talk about on our road trips, our long road trips, we talk about everything under the sun, which, you know, from football to religion to everything, nothing's off the table.

But one thing that we talk about a lot is the culture, you know, the culture of winning. We have, you know, we started out rough this year, there's no doubt, but over the course of the year, I've seen so much maturity out of so many of these kids, you know, and the mentality is, and it's been this mentality all week, is that we're going to win. We're good enough to win, and we're going to win. And, you know, I can't say, I can't guarantee that's been the situation in the past, you know, with some of these other teams.

This team has overcome, overcome a lot of adversity and grown up a ton. You know, some of these players that we're calling their names every night this year, they were juniors and sophomores last year, and they didn't play at all. So, you know, there's a lot of still new faces on this field. But this is game nine. Yeah, game nine. So, our sophomores should be playing like juniors. Our juniors should be playing like seniors. Florence comes in. It's game five and three. Spartman is four and five.

This is the final regular season for Spartman, by the way. They went ten straight. So, their final game of the regular season tonight. JJ, speaking of home field advantage, we are at Brawley Stadium. It's for the region title. Boy, this home crowd could become huge tonight. And I do think that the crowd will play a big factor into this. And, you know, I've talked to quite a few people that, like, you going to the game? They're like, oh, yeah, we'll be there. So, you know, others that might, you know, not, oh, I had a long day.

You know, we'll skip this one. But everyone needs to get out here to Brawley Stadium. And it's been pretty well hyped on social media and on the radio shows leading up to tonight. So, I expect a great crowd. And I expect them to be loud. You know, the band's going to play at the right times. The band's going to play loud. And the student section will absolutely be here and show up. It will be a playoff atmosphere tonight in game nine for the Florence Falcons as they take on the Spartan Senators here at Brawley Stadium.

[15:50] We'll keep you updated on other games as well throughout the state, and especially in North Alabama in the Shoals area. In the 93.9 The Score Studios, our good friend James Moody will be with us throughout the night. I'll send it to him now in the 93.9 The Score Studios. So, James, take it away. Thank you, Kevin. Yes. We'll be keeping up with all the games from all the sports tonight. Had some action last night. Oxford, which is Florence's next opponent, beat Huffman 55-6. Also, Dashler beat East Lawrence 56-0.

Gaston City edged out Mae Jemison 13-12. We'll be keeping up with all the action tonight, including but not limited to Hackleberg in Cherokee, Mars Hill in Clements, Sheffield in Carbett County, Also, Muscle Shoals Hartzell, that blockbuster matchup there, Central and Hatton, Bob Jones and Huntsville, Carbett Heights in Lauderdale County, Waterloo and Shoals Christian, Lexington-Tharptown, Brooks-West Limestone. A lot of playoff implications in that list and also in the games I did not mention. Also, the Tennessee scores, NCAA football, Cal and Virginia Tech, Boise State, Nevada. And, as I sit here with my Blue Jays hat on, it is game one of the World Series, L.A. versus Toronto, and we'll keep you updated on that and join myself and Blair Krieger after the broadcast for the AHSAA, oh, hello, H-A, the scoreboard show, let's just call it that.

I love it there for my good friend James Moody, the AHSAA scoreboard show. I have trouble with it all the time, so I'm glad to know Moody's human after all. He is the best in the business. We appreciate him and Blair Krieger in the 93.9 The Score Studios. Before we go to break, we want to take a moment and say our thoughts and prayers tonight with a family that has impacted this school and many other schools in the loss of a good friend, Joseph Romans, and all of us knew Joseph, but nobody knew me any better in this crew than Jeffrey Jones and J.J.

What an impact that gentleman had upon so many, especially at Florence High School. Yes, he definitely did. I didn't prepare any statements to say, so I'm just going to kind of talk off the cuff just for a minute. I was a good friend of Joe's. Joe and Valerie would mean a lot to me. You know, we talked hours and hours and hours. In my former days of roaming the sidelines, I was a photographer myself. And so, you know, I approached him, I'd say, at least 12 to 15 years ago and just started asking about his equipment.

Well, boy, did he talk about it? And, you know, he'd tell me about the lenses he had ordered and all that. And, you know, I got to go over to his shop and spend a lot of time with him over there. And just an outstanding man. I can't say enough good things about him. You know, there was tributes all week to Joe and all yesterday and today. And it's tragic news. Our prayers are going out to Val and the rest of his family. I will say this, you know, it's a lot of fitting tributes to him.

And we're going to have a moment of silence tonight before the game. I will say this, the sidelines at UNA Games, the sidelines at Florence High School, the sidelines at Tharptown, Sheffield. Name them all. You can name them all. That's right. All of Lauderdale County schools. He was a Central grad. He was very partial to Central. Loved the Central Wildcats. Those sidelines will never be the same. And, you know, we love you, Joe. I know and I'm very confident he's in a better place tonight. Well said, Jeffrey Jones.

Well said. Our condolences from 93.9 to score. And the Florence Falcons family to the family of Joseph Romans. Joseph Romans took tens of thousands of pictures of every athlete, cheerleader, and band member in the shows area. Whether it was a Friday night sideline in the pouring rain or in a gym on a Tuesday night, he was a fixture to athletics at Florence High School and almost every other school in our area. Today, we send our love to the family of Joseph Romans and we thank you for all the snapshots over all the years.

Florence Falcons football, KJ and the crew with you. Glad to have you with you tonight. It's on a special night for Florence High School football, a chance to play for a region title as they take on the Senators of Spartan High School and Mike Albertson, next man up mentality is so important.

[21:19] CJ Bolden, for example, great on offense line. He's done it. Ja'Kollin Jones at corner and the list goes on. It's been a total team effort, Florence. Talk about that for a minute. You know, being able to develop yourself in practice and everything is super important. You know, and Coach talks about doing your job. Well, some of these guys that are second string, third string, they won't snap away. They won't snap away from being on the field and having an impact on this game. So, you know, those reps are super important when they get in later in games that might be out of hand.

You know, all those things. But being able to come in and when your number's called and do your job is what every football player is ever asked to do. So, Coach, you know, when your number's called and Coach says, hey, do your job, they know what they need to do out there. And so, it's super important because this game's a brutal game, you know, and guys wind up getting nicked up, having some injuries, and, you know, but the game doesn't stop there. You've got to continue to compete and fight.

And so, as a team, you have that next man step in and do his job and hopefully come away with victory. By the way, tonight is teacher appreciation night here at Florence High School. So, all the teachers will be appreciated. You'll have to see that tonight. So, there'll be a special pre-game with them. Both teams out warming up right now. So, going through warming, it's got a few more minutes before they'll head to the locker room. Big thank you to our good friends at Garner Pierce Auto, our courtesy vehicles throughout the season.

I'm sure they're getting ready to give us the best of the best as we go to Oxford Thursday night because that's going to be a long trip and we appreciate them taking care of us. They'll take care of you. We're two months away from Christmas tomorrow. Two months to Christmas. You need a new vehicle for your family. Garner Pierce Auto in Florence. They'll take care of you. Let's welcome in our statistician, John McDaniel. Jay Mack, you've been in these big games before. How do the Falcons contain their emotion and channel it the right way?

Well, I think the thing you want to focus on, start with details. You don't want to try to look at the big picture because it can be overwhelming, certainly for a young high school student. Those kind of things, if you start thinking about what can happen, you know, what the ramifications are for a win versus a loss. So you want to focus on the details. You want to work on the things that you can control and not focus on the result. You want to practice what your schemes, your assignments are.

Mike talked about whether you're first team, second team, you know, the chances of you getting in can be high because you're one play away. You want to make sure that you're doing whatever it is that is your job, not worrying about the other things and, you know, before, that's during the week and as the game is coming to about kickoff, you know, you want to be just locked in with what you're doing and let everything else go away because you're going to be so excited you want to jump out of your skin.

Effort tonight is not going to be an issue. Being in the right place and not getting too excited is going to be what's important. Only one team has locked up a playoff berth in Region 4. That's the Florence Falcons at 5-1. They sit atop alone there. Spartan at 4-2 in the region. A win tonight, that could help them as well in a lot of ways with a little help. They could be playing at home. So, Spartan John is playing for playoffs as well in many ways and they're talented and we know that.

Yeah, they are definitely talented. I mean, hey, you don't get to be a playoff team in the 7A without having some good players. They've got some guys, they've got a running back that's been offered by UNA, at least two receivers. They've got a defensive tackle, linebacker, you know, so more than one guy that they have on each side of the ball that's going to be having a chance to play college and they have a good scheme. They have some good size on the offensive and defensive lines.

We're going to probably mention his name a lot but, number eight tonight, Seton I believe is a really strong running back. He's about, he's at least 6'1 and he runs hard. He's going to give the Falcons, he's going to be where their offense starts and the Falcons are going to have to contain him and if they're going to have any success. Jeffrey Jones, I'm not sure if you're on the sideline. Do you have the head coach with you? He may not hear us yet. I got to chase him down.

Alright, we'll give you a second. For some reason he forgets these things sometimes. They went a little early tonight getting ready for this teacher appreciation. They went a little early into the locker room so I noticed that so we'll get to them in just a second. John, one more thing. A few more wrinkles on defense, a few more wrinkles on offense. Florin keeps adding to the playbook. As a good coaching staff, you're always going to be adding to your team throughout the year. You're going to continue to expand on the plays and the concepts.

We haven't had to see much of it but we've added things like some wildcat quarterback packages with Jay Schott. Some things that we've got we've only seen really one or two plays off of it but there are five or six that are in the scheme and Coach Wisdom has added a few wrinkles with some different type of blitzes and a few new stunts. Maybe moving some players back and forth to positions. Maybe a safety or a corner might play the opposite tonight. Just continuously working. They do it for two reasons.

[26:29] One, to keep the offense or the other team off balance but to keep your guys engaged and these kids love doing that. Go ahead. Let's see. JJ, do you have the head coach now? Yeah, I hate to interrupt. I got Coach right here. Coach, how sick of you are hearing about how important this game is this week. Very. We're ready to kick this thing off and get all that behind us. There you go. So we got teacher appreciation night tonight. How important is that to you and to the teachers?

It's awesome for our kids to recognize the people that's been huge to them in their life through their schooling and everything. It's great for us to be able to celebrate our faculty and our teachers and they mean a lot to us. They support this program and I appreciate everything they do. I'm not going to go into how important this game is. However, I'm going to reiterate that we've got an athletic quarterback with a very good running back. Defense is aware of that obviously. How do we contain them?

We've got to contain them. We've got to stay in our rush lanes up front. We've got to have the spies that are there ready to go. When he breaks down the pocket and starts scrambling we've got to lock down on the receivers in the secondary and not cover grass. We've got to cover people and just get after them. On offense we've noticed a lot of different packages. Well brought in, well thought out. Can we expect any passes to be thrown to the left tackler or anything like that tonight?

You never know. We're going to use everything we've got. We won't leave anything in the bag tonight. Good deal, Coach. Good luck tonight. Well, we're getting close to Halloween. Why not open up the bag and get all the candy out and put it out there and see if Coach Kenny Marson and the Falcons can do that tonight. Shout out to our good friends at Lost Pizza again. Thankfully, with auto owners, insurance doesn't have to be one of them. Auto owners works with independent agents who answer when you call, so you can worry about more important things, like whether your kid is going to run toward first or third base.

That's simple human sense. In Florence, see Luke Brown at Henniger Johnson and Layton Insurance. Call 256-764-8682. Welcome back to the TNT Fireworks pregame show here at Brawley Stadium. Kevin Johnson, Mike Albertson, Jeffrey Jones, John McDaniel, all with you. The crew's here tonight as the Falcons have already headed out to the locker room. Now they've come out, a lot of the seniors, to have their teacher for teacher appreciation night. That's a really special thing. They'll come out with their teacher and each teacher will get recognized and a really special way of recognizing them and it's a great, great crowd on hand already.

It's even going to get bigger before the night's over. And Mike, let's talk about a couple of people. John Carter, Goolsby last week. Touchdown, long reception from Cade Davis. I mean, team player, look what happened. I mean, you have to have a wry smile when you saw that happen last week. It was just one of those things that was almost like storybook, wasn't it? Absolutely. Look, John Carter is a solid athlete with many tools in the bag and early on in the season he was competing for the starting quarterback job and once that decision was made and they moved forward with Cade Davis, I mean, when he was able to move out to the wide receiver and continue to grind, contribute, and just continue to be a good teammate.

Whenever his number was called, he went out there and he competed to the best of his ability. He's made some great catches along the way. Along with that, it was a 78-yard touchdown last week. I mean, the kid's a competitor and he couldn't be more proud of the way he represented himself and this Falcon team facing some of that adversity and being able to move forward. It's been nothing short of beautiful. John McDaniel, the Falcon defense has been great in their last six games. Stats back that up too.

Why are they so much fun to watch right now? They're really, I experienced this in my college career, but when you change coordinators, it takes a little while to understand what they want. And I think it took Coach Wisdom and the players just a little while, maybe half the year to kind of figure out what each other was capable of and what they wanted. And as you said, in the last few weeks we've had two games where they've held the team below 200 yards and another two games where they've been below 300.

[31:34] We've been below 30 yards rushing for the whole game twice and 14 first downs per game is what our average is. And these guys are playing, they're playing confident. They're understanding what they want. They're kind of in charge of the defense. They make a lot of checks themselves. So they kind of have some ownership of it. So the success really falls on their shoulders and I think they kind of like that, kind of enjoy the ownership and they're playing. As you said, they're playing lights out. Jeffrey Jones, you're on the sideline right now right next to these teachers and these players.

It's impressive. Well, it's pretty funny. Some of them I walk up to, you know, I'm like, you picked this one to be your favorite teacher? You know, and we got elementary teachers down here. We got high school teachers down here. We got middle school. We got an assistant principal out there. Clark Jackson's out there. If he's out there, they should be able to pick my wife, but I don't know. She's never participated in this event. I think it's because she's a little harder on these kids, but this night, you know, I always harp on the senior parent night.

This night's just a special, and it's just a special for these teachers to be chosen by these. They could pick anybody, and it's just an honor. There's a lot of good. When I look down this line right here, it just shows, it goes to show we have a lot of excellent educators in our system, and we're very lucky to have so many that care and dig into our kids and their future. You know, these are kids. These kids will remember this for the rest of their lives, and so will the teachers, thankfully.

That's well said. So will the teachers. It's special to them. They love this, and to be honored and recognized and to be standing with these players, and some of them probably taught them when they were in seventh grade, third grade. Now they're growing up as seniors, so it's really special to see, and I like seeing all these seniors recognized in one of the teachers here today. Very special moment. Spartan comes into this game tonight, coached by Ronnie Watson, his third season, 14 and 15 in the career. The Senators come into this game four and five.

Kenny Marson in his fourth season at Florence. The Falcons have been in the playoffs each of his years here in his tenure, and that will continue that streak this year. Spartan, as I said, four and five on the season. They're four and two in region play. Florence, four and three and four and one, or five and three, excuse me, but four and one in region play. Florence knocked off Huntsville last week 45-29. Spartan defeated Grissom 40-14. These two teams have played, and I'll get to it again and repeat it.

They have played for 17 times in all these years, and Florence leads it 15-2 including winning 14 straight, but as I said earlier today on one of the radio shows, just because you won 14 straight, those 14 teams are not playing tonight. This is the 2025 version of the Falcons and the 2025 version of the Senators. It's a brand-new game. It's zero-zero when we start tonight. When we come, we'll continue the countdown to kickoff. We want to wish Coach Morrison and the Falcon football team good luck this season. As an NFL coach, Herm Edwards was famous for saying, you play to win the game.

[36:59] Every week, teams line up for that very reason, whether it's professional, collegiate, or high school football, you always play to win the game. But there are those rare occasions when a team can look each other in the eye and say, boys, tonight, we play to win a championship. For the Florence Falcons, that night has finally arrived. In 22 seasons of high school football, the Falcons have only won two region championships in their history. In 2014, Florence went undefeated as a member of Class 6A Region 8 and made a run to the state final four of 6A football.

It was a team loaded with talent who made an incredible run in the state playoffs. In 2007, a magical season happened for the Falcons as they went undefeated in Class 6A Region 8 play in only their fourth year as a school. Behind Coach Alvin Briggs and in front of a huge crowd, it was a game at Brawley Stadium that the Falcons used a late pick six to put away Huntsville Panthers to win their first ever region title and send the home crowd into a frenzy. This year's Florence Falcons team reminds me a whole lot of that 2017.

Winning on heart, winning on determination, winning because of unity as a team. The close brotherhood of this 2025 team has become evident week in and week out. and each week they find a way to win with a new hero emerging and the confidence as a team is growing week after week for Head Coach Kenny Marson's Falcons. Tonight, the Falcons have a chance to make history. A Florence win tonight would mean their first ever region title in Class 7A. It would also be the first time in 7A that a team started the season one and three and came back to win their region championship.

A Florence victory tonight would also be the first region championship in 11 years. Okay, Falcon fans, it's time to rock Brawley Stadium and make some noise. It's finally time. Let's go win a championship. Florence Falcons football starts right now. Welcome back to Florence Falcons football the TNT fireworks pregame show. 93-9 the score. Kevin Johnson, Mike Albertson, Jeffrey Jones, John McDaniel. Let's go win a championship. Can't say that often on a Friday night but the Falcons can tonight. They're going to have a tough road now. It's not an easy game.

They are going to have to play their best because it's a very tough opponent in the Spartan Senators but you have that opportunity and that's all you can ask for in a game like this, Mike. Turnovers can be a big deal. We saw that last week. That's big for this Falcon team. They've got to come up big. Oh, absolutely. Turnover battle can be where games are won and lost and so, you know, this Spartan game is going to be a grinding game. Both these teams know what is in order and the team that makes the most mistakes will likely lose the game so keep in control of the ball.

Last week, the turnover battle was even. Florence Falcons took that one under control. It was two to two but, you know, in a game like this, you don't want to give a Spartan team who's found ways to score a whole lot. You don't want to give them extra possessions and things like that. That can spell ruin so in a close game like this, you want to be able to take care of the ball and secure a victory. Well, last week, let's talk about something Florence needs to work on.

Three times inside the five or at least inside the ten and came away with only three points. How do you change that and that's something the Falcons are going to have to work on? How do they do that? Yeah, I mean, just continue to do what you do. I mean, last week was a bit of an anomaly but you've got to be able to finish drives and finishing drives is super important especially for a team that's going to be, you know, fighting for the region championship.

You can't get away with that two games in a row. Huntsville, you know, it was a bend but not break at times but they broke in the fourth quarter and the Falcons were able to secure that victory but in a game like this you've got to be able to finish those drives, extend drives on some of that short yardage plays as well but, you know, the Falcons are going to have their work cut out for them and that just can't happen inside the tent. You've got to be able to get some points out of the way.

Well, John, I'll tell you one thing that bothers me and I didn't sleep well last night because all I could think about was number one for Spartan and Mr. Nalen who is a dual threat quarterback. How do you stop the dual threat quarterback for the Senators? Well, you do a lot of prayer during the week. But, as far as skills, you want to, a coach actually talked about it earlier but, first thing is you want to play as a defensive line, it starts with the defensive lineman, you want to play in your lanes.

Whatever your assignment is, whether it's rushing from the outside, you don't want to allow, as a defensive end, you don't want to allow the quarterback to get out and break contain. If you're defensive tackles, you want to push the pocket backwards, you don't want to run by the quarterback and allow him to be able to step up field. Linebackers need to play their assignments and when they trigger to go, if he breaks contain and they go attack, they need to make sure they're solid breakdown tackles and don't let him, it's okay to give up a few yards, you don't want to give up big plays and coach even mentioned this also is that when he does break, if he does break contain, you've got to stay on your receiver.

[42:21] The worst thing that can happen is a throw it over your head because you've broke loose and are coming up to force the run and they get a 50-yard touchdown. We'll give up a 10-yard run, we don't want to give up big plays. Those are just a few ways but you're going to have to play with a lot of effort and a lot of hats have to get to the ball because he's shifty and he's fast. Jeffrey Jones, senior leadership. That's big tonight, we see it with the teacher appreciation but senior leadership has been a big part of this team.

absolutely a huge part of this team. One person came up to me during our warm-ups and Blake Hanback is a great all-around individual. He is the best snapper in the world. He told me to say that because his grandmother is listening. your grandson is probably the best snapper in the world. Congratulations to him and congratulations to all these seniors. They've played a lot of games here in Brawley Stadium and this could be the last one. We could have more to go. I'm hoping that we have more to go but I was just talking to Casey Wilburn just a few minutes ago, that's Rhett's mother and we were just talking about how close and well-behaved and just all-around great kids we have that are in the senior and the junior class.

They're all very close. They've played together for years and years and years and it's really an honor watching these kids grow. I say it all the time. I say it every year but it's just really an honor to see these young men turn into grown men and tonight we're going to need them. We're going to need that senior leadership. We're going to need these guys to step up and do what it takes to pull down a victory tonight. Well said there. Jeffrey Jones on the sideline as well.

A good crowd here already at Brawley Stadium and more filing in. Not a bad crowd for Spartan either. Their fans are filing in as well as we get ready to look here in a minute at the potential offense starting lineup for Florence. I know a lot of people are listening in on 93.9 The Score app. Some couldn't make it because of different things. Mr. Kelsey, glad you're listening in. A long-time fan for the Falcons. He's listening in tonight. Others as well. Hope you enjoy the broadcast here on 93.9 The Score.

The Falcons starting lineup tonight most likely looks like this. Cade Davis at quarterback. 6'4", quarterback. 215 pounds. Wears number 11. He's 84 of 130 on the season. That's about a 65% tilt. 1174 yards. And 15 touchdowns to two interceptions. Mike, those two interceptions came in August. 15 touchdowns since. Cade Davis, let's talk about him. Being able to protect the ball the way he has, especially after those first couple mishaps back in August. He's been able to protect the ball well, distribute it to his wide receivers who have been a growing crop of wide receivers as well.

But Cade has just done a phenomenal job. Really strong arm being able to distribute that ball to guys thrown with some zip in there, but also learning some touch as well. His development as the season is gone has been a real bright spot here for the Falcons. Falcons going to be a little shorthanded tonight. We'll talk about a little bit of that on both sides of the ball. The wide receiver tonight, Jimmy McDonald, 35 receptions, is one of the best. Six-foot, 170-pound senior had a breakout season and what a time to do it.

He has five touchdowns, 653 yards. He is being really special. Number seven has been all over the field. Jay Shot Pearson might play a little wide receiver again right at 5'11". He will be there as well. Has a couple of touchdown catches and one touchdown receiving as well. You'll also hear in there John Carter Goolsby. He'll be playing wide receiver 5'11", 165, a junior. Rhett Wilburn will be in the tight end. He wears number 37. He's a senior, 6'1", 185. He'll be in there some. Nelson Elliott played some last week, 6'1", 170, a junior.

Kevante Green is a game-time decision. I doubt he'll play tonight. We'll see. Kevante, 6'1", 215, got injured last week in the game. I think he'll be out tonight, 20 receptions on the year and five touchdowns. So, going to have to piece it together a little bit on the wide receivers a couple of places. But I know the Falcons have a game plan going in and it starts up front at the offensive line. Jacob Harper, the center. Where's Doug? Double nickel. He is a 5'11", 225 sophomore. He has been outstanding for the Falcons.

The guards are Michael Shanes and Dre Moore. 5'10", 255 is Moore. He's only a junior. He wears number 51, 52 for Shanes. Michael Shanes, 5'10", 220, and a senior. JV and Lewis, one of the tackles, 6'4", 220. The junior wears number 56 and on the other side, Big T. Tavarius Reader, 6'1", 275. He'll be on that spot as well. Running back, what a game. Kalen Triplett had last week, 5'10", 180, a senior. His best night of the season, Mike. Absolutely. Kalen Triplett, we knew he was a dynamic back. He's been playing for a couple of seasons.

Super athletic when he's able to get his pads downhill and make a few guys miss. Look out. He could take it to the house. He's an excellent runner and as the Falcons go, if he's able to get this run game going, it's going to be a good night for the Falcons. DeCarson Johnson played some last week. Had a touchdown run as well. 5'10", 185 after Triplett, by the way, went over 100 yards last week as we said and done really well. Elijah Hines has also back dressed out tonight.

[47:44] That's good to see. The sophomore 5'9", 155. So he should have a full complement of running backs and that'll be a key. Charlie Graves will handle the extra points and field goals. The senior has been outstanding including a field goal of 42 yards and a key win last week. He was 1-2 but he got the big one from 24 yards out to give the Falcons a lead there in the third quarter. And then kicking off will be Parker Greenhall. He has been tremendous as a kickoff specialist and also you'll have punting Steven Shevanada, Blake Hanback will handle the snaps for the Falcons.

And so that's your potential starting lineup on the offensive side. And tonight, as I said, Florence and Spartan meet for the 18th time, 18 times. Florence leads the series 15-2. They won last season 13-2. Low scoring game. I forgot that was a 13-2 game but they won that one there. And then Florence has won 14 straight. That's a rat poison. We don't want to talk about that. But it was a big win over them last year and the last time Spartan won was in 2006 over Florence. Big shout out to our good friends at Garner Pierce Auto.

They have taken care of us throughout the years. They'll take care of you as well. We appreciate them being our special guests on the way games and taking care of us in a nice vehicle. And two months from Christmas they're ready to take care of you as well. Let's look at the Falcons starting defense potential starting lineup tonight as we're getting closer to where the National Anthem so I'm going to go ahead and run through the break and get this one done and get this on.

The nose guard will be Jaden White 6'3", 265 a sophomore. He wears number 95 and Mike he just creates havoc. He certainly does. He gets off the ball off that snap really well. You really have to pay attention to him. I've seen him double teamed him a multitude of times early on but he's able to be a game changer for the Falcons up front. You'll have Nate Pride up there a sophomore 6'1", 250 he'll play some along with Jonathan Perkins a senior 6'2", 235 he'll wear number 34 Nate Pride wears number 98 and Mo Smith will be in there a good bit too at 5'11", 250 a junior.

On the outside Derek Peters 6'1", 208 a junior at the bandit position he'll be in one place on the other side Bo Burski the junior 6'1", 210 I got that corrected because the start of the season back in the summer he was down around 185, 190 he has lifted and gained weight over the summer and he said hey don't tell anybody but I'm 210 I said yes sir whatever you say and he's ever been over Disney Mike he certainly is and these kids are funny they're teenagers so they're still growing but he's put the work in he's very proud of it and rightly so if you're being able to put the work in and being able to put some weight on especially in season you're actually you know you're getting after it and so props to Bo there inside linebacker Zoe Martin wears number 25 the Allstate UNA commit he averages right at 12 tackles a game he has been outstanding and we're looking forward to him going out tonight 6'2", 210 pounds and having a great game Jaden Irons has really played well I'll compliment him as well number 23 the junior is at 6'2", 205 he leads the Falcons in tackles and also has an interception a fumble recovery on the year Jay Shod Pearson will be in there tonight as well playing some cornerback playing some safety tonight notice that he'll be in there 5'9", 165 a senior on the other side Jekyll and Jones will be in there 5'10", 160 a junior he'll wear number 13 Jekyll and Jones has had at least one maybe two interceptions on the year and a couple of fumble recoveries he's a ball hawk when the ball's there he likes to get the ball he gets his hands on the ball a lot he certainly does he's done a great job dropping back on defense but being able to jump routes he's been able to do that and when that ball hits the turf he's been diving right on him he's got a great nose for the ball and he's done a great job for the Falcons tonight at safety will be Otis Sistrunk Jr where's number 6 6'1", 205 a junior and he also is in double figures in tackles he is a go-getter he likes to hit as well whenever he can so number 6 will be all over the field and tonight not dressed out for the first time is Walt Barrett Barrett had a little dinger that happened this week so it should have him ready for next week hopefully but the Austin Peake commit not being able to go tonight will be a factor so the Falcons will move some people around you'll hear Jay Scott Pearson play some in the safety position and the corner position will be Carter Graves who is 5'9", 160 pounds and a senior so you'll hear that for the starting lineup for the Florence Falcons when we come back glad to be with you on the call for this one you can feel the energy maybe through the airways because I'm telling you these two teams are getting ready to play the biggest game of the year for both of them the Falcons deferred they'll kick off to the Senators who have great weapons in their offensive arsenal and special teams it'll be Parker Greenhall to kick it off going left to right towards the north end zone to the left will be the scoreboard so the Falcons have their back to the scoreboard and this is what you sign up for when you sign up to play high school football in the state of Alabama you can't ask for too much more than that back deep couple of Senators including Chad Reynolds will be back there to the right Zay Bonder back as well Greenhall to boot it away for a chance for a special evening for the boys in blue and this one's going to be high and taken at the 8 by the Senators up to the 15 comes outside looking for room and hit at the 25 and spun down there and that's where it'll be pushed back and the Senators have it first and 10 right at the 26 yard line this is Falcon football let's pause for station identification the voice of the Florence High School Falcons WYTK FM Rogersville Athens Decatur the Shoals 93-9 the score sophomore quarterback Josh Nayland will lead his team out he'll have one back in the backfield who will be Braylon Alt-Lawson he'll have four wideouts including Reynolds Bodner Cam Reynolds and one more in motion to the left double dunk going to leave inside of Lawson cuts to the right hit at the line of scrimmage he'll push far to about the 29 and get about three he's a big back Mike you see already he goes and attacks quickly he certainly does he lowered the shoulder there and delivered a hit on the linebacker that filled the gap was able to drive his feet and pick up another extra yard or two definitely a hard run to start the game Cam Reynolds who is a speedster wide to the right they have three to the left they like to throw the screen to Reynolds out here at the other one back then they do the slip strut to Reynolds gets at the 30 to the 34 got the first down across the 35 to the 39 he's got speed his quickness that's Chad Reynolds I would say Cam and Chad are definitely related I didn't find that out but Reynolds and Reynolds are going to be wrapping up the Falcons if we don't watch out first and 10 for the Senators they go pace tempo at the 41 just underway no score Lawson the tailback and pistol formation behind Nayland now bring a man in motion he's going to give it to Lawson right up the middle and he's hit he's going nowhere he's pushed back that time Zoe Martin friend said no no no that's going to be no game that was a great job by the Falcons to shoot the gap there there was no running room whatsoever they had that jet sweep look they were trying to work a little eye candy there that hole was plugged up quick Jeffrey Jones there is a lot of speed out there for the Senators there is a lot of speed a little bit more than I thought there would be but we've got to tighten up here how about empty set right now five wide the ball will get out fast but you've got to watch the legs of Naylan straight drop looks to the right throws quickly out complete for a gain of two and he's hammered down there as Bodner caught it and he was going nowhere Jayshod Pearson come flying up from the safety position sticks him yeah Jayshod delivered that hit as the ball was coming in there there was a great timing by Jayshod a little pitch and catch there by the quarterback he looks like he's just trying to get in rhythm setting his feet and delivering a nice ball Chad Reynolds and Bodner to the right three wide receivers left on the third and eight play for the Senators the noise coming from the big blue band trying to distract cowbell's ear noise being made by the Falcon fans third and eight play clock at ten Naylan looks gets the snap back looks right can't find anyone there down the middle got a man wide open throws over everybody's head incomplete Falcons catch a break he had his man five yards behind the Falcon defense in Bodner but it's incomplete yeah that was a that was a coverage issue there that was a linebacker on a speedy wide receiver definitely had his had his feet tangled up looks like the Falcons were talking about that afterwards as well that looked like a busted coverage and that looks like something we'll see again absolutely that empty said they're going to try to expose that again get ready so the Falcons are seeing Pearson back to the 20 yard line to return the punt the snap comes and a punt almost blocked just got it away and it's not great it's going to bounce around the 25 yard line and be down around the 25 yard line and that's where Florence have it first and ten but a good start right there Jeffrey Jones get that defense off the field and get the ball for yourself it wasn't a three and out like we'd hope but we'll take it they gave a little bit gave up the first down but here's our chance right here we're going to get out here and move this ball we need to get on them quick here Wilburn at tight end triplets the tailback Goolsby and McDonnell are the wide receivers McDonnell wide to the left shotgun formation against the four man front Spartan runs a 4-2-5 defense Marquise Andrews is the slot Cade Davis the quarterback looks over the defense on the first down play going to leave it with tripling off the right side try to use the speed stretching it out cuts it up and hit right at the 23 yard line gets maybe a yard at that stretching it out but good defense there battle comes up to make the tackle they are a very good defense it's the Spartan team they can run from sideline to sideline Mike yes it looks like a quick athletic team so far and the Falcons really just continue to string that one out towards the towards the sideline there ran out of real estate had to cut it up the field didn't only pick up a yard McDonnell wide right Goolsbee now will join him on the short side of the field two wide outs this way on the second down and not play going to leave it this time look to throw the fade going out the sideline and there should have been a flag and there is I believe the flag came because he was held McDonnell had beat his man right off the stretch and the flag comes and that should be a nice first down for Florence if you give Jimmy McDonnell the free release he's going to beat you but even when he's so quick even when you're trying to jam him up on the line of scrimmage he can make you do silly things like hold right there he was beating his guy right off the bat he held him and nice job there by the Falcons to get that first down John that first first down is always a good one to get yeah it kind of gets you in rhythm but to be honest that's not a bad penalty by the Senators I would take that play it's a lot better 10 yards than the 30 he was about to go first and 10 at the 33 triplet then the pistol formation behind the shotgun quarterback Davis who steps up to the line of scrimmage gets the signal from the sideline who have one wide left one wide right Andrews now will come back and play fullback going to run it up the middle this time and triplet got run rim crossing 35 to the 40 down to the 43 give him 10 move the chains again I like seeing that out of the running game that was a great job there by triplet he saw where that that hole opened up right away and hit that hole hard he was able to get into that second level of the defense and drive through for that first down Jeffrey Jones Marquise Andrews with a big block at fullback very very big the offensive line is on point two that was a great play right there and the patience the patience of triplet was great again now the Falcons will shift their line but Spartman does not jump that is a thing you have to be very careful to do in but they do it a nice way going to run it back to the short side with triplet going to use the speed to the 45 and tripped up from behind he gets about three pretty good job by Battle Blake Battle come from behind to trip him up if he don't get him he may get five more but we'll give it second down and seven yeah trip was trying to be trying to be patient with the block setting up in front of him and he just got caught from behind if they were able to set up those blocks just a hair quicker I think we're getting five or more yards on that play second down and seven no score with 754 to go in the first this is the first position for the Falcons after the defense got the ball back from them and the Falcons approaching midfield to the right of the quarterback is triplet the tailback second down play looks to pass Davis looks to pump fake go down the sideline McDonald's got a step can he get to it he couldn't bring it in one of the first times you see one he couldn't bring in he had a safety coming at him and that one would be in maybe six instead he'll bring third and seven rare to see that out of Jimmy McDonald right that one slipped right through his hands if you ask him he's kind of upset with himself he wished he had that one and so do the Falcons but great ball delivered there by Cade great play that little pump fake gave Jimmy some release and was able to get him open but here we are third down got to come up with a first down I would go hard count here and see if he can get the sinisters on this and make it a third and two and a whistle before the snap and I think Florence is going to call timeout timeout taken by Kenny Morrison we'll do the same 735 to go into first no score here at Brawley Stadium we're back in 30 hey Falcon fans this is Keith at Cypress Creek Indoor Range like Walt Barrett excels at safety at Cypress Creek or on the web at cypresscreekrange.com Back here at Raleigh Stadium Florence with the ball scoreless here in the first 7.36 to go in the first quarter and the Falcons have money down here right close to midfield Davis the quarterback will have triplet in the backfield and have one wide out Goolsby wide left McDonald wide to the right a sort of bracketing blitz coming Davis in trouble Davis steps up Davis goes down ball down ball came out but he was down before that as the safety blitz comes and a big loss back to the 34 and the Falcons have to punt it away there that's one of the things we see there Mike is you can't get in those passing downs because the blitz are going to come yeah the blitz came right up the middle the pocket collapsed pretty quick and you know I think the Falcons caught a break there because that biscuit wound up hitting the turf and it was blown dead before it was scooped up fourth down and Civanado will punt it away I'm not sure I think it might be battle back to return it we'll check great drive and punt all the way back at the 30 yard line gotten rim on the right side to the 35 down to the 40 and finally pushed out of bounds around the 45 so good punt but almost too good a punt gave him a little running start to the sideline and a good return by the Senators who have it first and 10 in Falcon territory they gave him all the way into the 49 yard line that's a little more than I thought so only 49 yards away and the Senators sitting in good position in this scoreless first quarter don't forget tomorrow Alabama football they're going on the road to take on South Carolina you'll hear it right here on 93-9 the score four wide outs for the quarterback Nayland got a new running back in KJ he'll have the big guy in there right now Marbury Marbury off the side where's number 24 gets across the 47 but that's about it a gain of two he's a big bull in there he'll run the ball about two yards and the Falcon defense comes up and a late flag thrown not sure what that was for but a late flag thrown by the white hat and a personal foul against Florence and that's not good oh wait he read it it's the first foul against Spartan I was thinking man offsetting no I'm not sure I think he said no I think he was saying he messed it up I think he said I pointed the wrong way I think that's why he waved his hands like that okay so it'll be 15 against Spartan you are correct KJ I was wrong that happens rarely we both know that but that's a big penalty right there for the Falcons to push the Senators back the tailback Marbury goes in at 5'10", 200 pounds so he's a big kid it's pretty important that that down counted that brings second down and a long way to go Cameron Reynolds wide to the right for the quarterback Josh Nayland a junior I said he was a sophomore he's actually a junior 5'11", he looks back to coach Ronnie Watson gets the signal play clock down to 10 second down and 20 straight drop looking across the middle throws down the sideline now got Reynolds out there Reynolds goes up for the catch but couldn't bring it in and that time Reynolds showed his speed rarely do you see Ja'Kyle and Jones beat but he got a step on Jones there and quite frankly he beat him pretty easily he was able to get to the outside and just out outpaced him had a nice ball out there to him just couldn't adjust to that ball while it was in the air lucky that the Falcons had an incompletion on that one empty set Spartan is that top team they'll continue to take shots down the field they're not going to hold back empty set for the quarterback Nayland Falcon defense must play well here he has wide receivers three to the wide side to the right two to the left at the 39 yard line play clock at three gets the snap back to pass looks right now he looks back to the middle now pressure comes now he floats up in the pocket now he's going to try to scramble out now he's going to be hit now he's going down at the 42 good job by the Falcons defense right there great coverage sack right there and the Falcons will take it yeah it was a good job by the Falcons in pursuit you know great coverage down the field and there wasn't much left for him he scrambled out there caught a yard or two but the Falcons stopped him pretty quickly Peters in on that play along with pride and now Jay shot Pearson will go back to the 40 yard line or 30 yard line the punter for Spartan will punt it away is Jordan and he gets a good punt away this time and Jay shot takes a fair catch at the 32 yard line and that's where the Falcons have it for their second possession still score is 528 to go both teams sort of measuring each other out seeing what's going on and the Falcons will have the ball at the 32 yard line flag on the play that was a late flag on the Spartan sideline there let's see what that was for dead ball again personal foul against Spartan so the Senators showing something that we used to see quite often going our ways Spartan the little chippy there Jeffrey Jones will take those penalties yeah we'll take them absolutely I'm not sure I didn't see it just must be language that the players are using I don't know personal foul would be not a language thing personal foul would be something physical they did to another player I didn't see a late hit or anything like that but I'm going to take the white hat to work for it so the Falcons have it at the 48 yard line Goolsby would go left McDonald to the right one back in the backfield behind I think it's Hines now we'll double check that for Davis we'll check that as he gets K-line K-line still back there play clock at 10 going to leave with K-line right up the middle he pounces far cut it to the left couldn't get much only a yard he was watching white shirts come left and right and right and left and he just had to wiggle far to get just a half yard yeah the gap that he was trying to shoot through filled up pretty quick so he hesitated and tried to bounce it out a little bit picked up what he could on that but that was a good job by the Sparkman defense John this 4-2-5 defense they'll bring a lot of pressure yeah they're doing a good job they're actually playing kind of an odd unusual I should say front with their defensive tackles they're lining them up on one side of the ball so you've got three on one side one guy on the other side a little bit unique quick snap going to hand it off again to Triplett looks to come back the other way try to use the speed try to get away gets a couple of yards to the 47 yard line but again this Sparkman defense is really quick it'll bring up third down and the sixth go for the Falcons he had green grass for a moment but the white jerseys were just too quick over there yeah he was trying to crash right when the defense plugged that up he bounced it out to the left and Sparkman then cleaned it up after just a couple yard game Nelson Elliott will check in at the slot position wide to the right on the other side of him will be McDonald Gooseby wide left watch for the blitz again on this passing down on third and six back to pass Davis looks throws a swing out here get missed incomplete better to get the ball and finally they blow the whistle that could have been a fumble you can't let that go and the Sparkman sensors right now have the Falcons a little on their heels on the offense and the Falcons are going to have to punt it away Jeffrey Jones we knew it's not going to be easy tonight it's going to have to play your best no other than the it's been a pretty tight defensive game other than the penalties no one's really moving the ball at all so we're going to get some things figured our timings off a little bit tonight we haven't opened up the playbook yet we will punts it away to Seton who had a great return he tries to fumble and fumbles the punt Falcons recover it Falcons jump on the muff punt down at the 13 yard line Seton lost his fielding went to die for it didn't get it and the Falcons come up with the ball I'm not sure who recovered it I believe it's a good sign when handback comes out of there with it we'll see but Zo Martin might have been there too I snapper on seniors appreciation for teachers goes down and recovers at the 13 in the first big break of the night can the Falcons now add to it they'll bring in the heavy package right now coming into the game will be Jaden White Zo Martin will be in there on the first down play at the 13 going to leave it with Zo up the middle got across to the 10 down to the 9 and pushing toward to the 8 give him about 5 right there off the right side Zo Martin the linebacker very very strong young man his lower half is huge he looks like a thoroughbred but being able to drive through these quick snaps we're going to leave it with Martin again with Shepard blocking to the 5 pushes forward down around the 4 yard line he's close to where he needs to get the line to gain and I think he has enough for a first down Jeffrey Jones yes he does and we just got another flag Spartan's losing their composure a little bit that was on number 9 Seton there I can tell it's kind of fun to watch Zo run the ball he runs a little bit like a linebacker but he's got enough upper arm shrink that he can break some tackles too it's a good one-two punch with him the third personal foul in the first quarter against Spartan will move the ball even closer down to the 1.5 yard line we'll call it the 2 we'll make it the 2 yard line first and go for the Falcons at the 2 Shepard's the fullback Davis the quarterback I said with Zoe Martin behind him Berski's in at tight end too gonna leave it again with Martin up the middle touchdown goes right in and puts it in and the Falcons strike first and lead it 6-0 with 3 23 to go here in the first that was a great job by the Falcons they punt the ball away were able to get the ball back on that on that fumble and being able to finish that drive after a couple of runs that's huge for the Falcons to get on the board first in their home territory Graves to attempt the PAT Davis to hold handback who recovered the fumbled muff punt to snap good snap good hold Graves puts it up Graves puts it through new score Florence 7 Spartan 0 323 to go in the first this is Falcons football come back and see us in 30 hello my name is Debra Bell Passeur and I'm an attorney with the law firm of Johnson Passeur Medley and Burchell please don't call an out of town lawyer when you can call our law firm which has over 100 years of combined experience in all areas of the law check us out first please call me Wesley Johnson Keith Medley Adam Burchell at 256-766-3131 we are proud to be a sponsor of Florence High School Athletics no representation is made that the quality of legal services to be performed is greater than the quality of legal services performed by other lawyers here at Brawley Stadium 7-0 Kevin Johnson the game let's go to John McDaniel that last drop was a short one but a good one well yes it was actually my statistical software blipped it was about 12 yards it was a two yard finished off with a two yard run by Zoe sorry about that Kevin not a problem technology what are you going to do Greenhawk kicks it away and going to be taken back there by Janarius Coates Coates has it racing back towards the Florence side line at the 20 to the 25 he's got great speed and finally hammered out of bounds right at the 32 yard line big time hit down there by the Florence Falcons man that's a good stick by Wes Fuqua who come up and tattooed him yeah that was a great job there by Fuqua to finish that up but we're losing contain on the outside we're letting them get to the outside there and really attack our edges and they're really quick so they're beating us there and getting extra yardage we've got to shore that up on the special team side the Senators will come back out Nalen will have his tailback Lawson back with him for this first and ten play the ball on the left hash we'll have two wideouts right two to the left to the left here he has Davis and Reynolds on the other side he has Reynolds as well going to leave it with Lawson up the middle Lawson tries to get outside pushing to the 35 to the 40 and now around the 41 he's close to the first down stick gain of nine that time they sealed the edge and bounced out John we were completely confused in our secondary we had both safeties rocking back and forth couldn't decide he did a good job of bouncing it out we're finally lucky to get him down good night John playing without Walt Barrett tonight that could be a factor again Lawson up the middle got the first down at the 45 and pushes forward for a gain of about two before he stopped it'll move the chains for the Senators with 244 to go and we know Mike that this Falcon defense playing without Walt Barrett it's not just Walt's athleticism it's this quarterback ability on defense of course him being able to call some signals along with Joe is super important they have wide receivers stacked to the right watch for the wide receivers screen over there to Reynolds they'll try to maybe get him with a guy in front of him to block on this first and ten play yeah Falcons jump they got Falcons to bounce on the hard count don't see that often so a little nervousness now on this Falcons team that moves it up five yards into Falcon territory and we saw that again on while the Falcons were lining up there was a little confusion there was a lot more motion than I'm used to seeing from this Falcon defense having that different personnel it seems to be making a difference and Sparkman is looking to continue to exploit that Bodner and Chad Reynolds to the right to the left will be the other Reynolds Cam along with Davis first and five they may go for the home run right here I wouldn't be surprised Lawson's the tailback behind Naylor the quarterback Naylor again going to leave it with his tail but now he's going to keep it himself try to get outside and he's hitting he's going down he's not going to get anything matter of fact he's going to lose a couple yards because the Falcon defense came up big right there coming up making the play again was Jaden Irons coming up from the linebacker position Jaden goes at six two he's a big boy don't realize how tall he is but pretty tall player trips to the right side now for Spartan on the second down and six play this Falcon team was trained all week to try to stop the quarterback knowing his propensity to run second down six this time going to run the stretch play outside with Lawson trying to get it got a block at the 50 but it's not going to get a whole lot but he breaks a tackle and got the first down Falcons had him but he kept breaking tackles and he pushes down around to the 42 give him about nine on that one and that'll move the chains yeah it was a good run there by Sparkman they were able to block downfield something with a missed tackle they were able to break it out to the outside to get a first down this Falcon D will be tested first and 10 at the 42 trips to the left one to the right for the quarterback Nalen going toward the scoreboard at Brawley Nalen wants to pass looking left wants to throw now he's in trouble now he's still floating around out in the back he's got a little running rim goes down the sideline trying to get out to one of his teammates close it down the field and it's incomplete pretty good coverage down there by Jekyll and Jones who stayed with Reynolds all the way Spartan coaching staff wanted a flag but it was pretty good defense there by Jones he didn't whip his head around to make a play on that ball and I'm pretty sure that's what Spartan's looking for more of a face guarding call than an actual interference so it'll break second down and 10 John pretty good coverage though but good job of containing the quarterback got lucky on that one did a good job containing the quarterback but went on that second move I think he got a little handsy could have got a holding penalty but here's the quick set going to run the quarterback draw up the middle to the 40 bounces up to the 37 and hit down around the 37 he'll get about five and see he's got quick feet boy when he gets going you don't want to get him going north and south you've got to make him go east and west and after five yards the Falcons pulled in and rained him in brings up third and six quick snaps happening by the Senators they're trying to run tempo we've seen that of several teams the past few weeks so they may think that's the scouting report remember Lawson the tailback third and six try to get the hard count does not work we're under a minute to go KJ they're kind of freezing us on our substitutions they're really holding our defensive linemen in there third and six Naylan going to look and give it in to Lawson almost a pass all across the middle great catch taken down there by the Senators at the 15 17 yard line that was amazing catch there pulled in by Bodner he went up and snagged that one that's a good ball over the middle and the receiver did a great job with his quick snap to Lawson he's going to bounce to the 15 to the 10 to the 5 he's going to keep carrying Falcons all the way down to the 2 flag on the play flag back here where we might have a could be anything so I won't say we'll hold on to find out what the white hat says could be a face mask against Lawrence trying to tackle the big boy Lawson first to file face mask against the Falcons that's what I thought so it'll move it up just another yard and right now at the end of one Falcons lead it but precariously 7-0 Spartman only one yard away from tying this up this is Falcon Football we're back in 30 flavor is calling at Lost Pizza Company Shovels introducing the new limited time only margarita pizza fresh basil fine ripened tomatoes and creamy mozzarella pearls on our homemade crust light bright and bursting with flavor try our all new dry rub wings seasoned to perfection with bold smoky spices that'll have you coming back for more don't forget dessert cotton blues cheesecake slices are here creamy dreamy and downright legendary these flavors won't stick around forever only at Lost Pizza Company Shoals where the lost get fed well a lot happened during that timeout because it can't end a quarter on a timeout so the Senators get an extra play with an untimed down and the Falcons jumped offside so they'll have it at the foot line I mean literally just the foot line they don't have to go but six inches to get a touchdown and see if they'll go under center and maybe sneak it in so still not finished with the first quarter Senators have been in shotgun formation they'll stay that way with Naylan behind this offensive line on first and goal at the one Naylan going to leave it with Lawson right up the middle he pushes forward and he is in touchdown so the Senators answer back on the last play of the first quarter on a one yard run by their tailback Braylon Lawson who some places list him a 180 some 185 he's ever been a 200 to 210 he's a big boy and now Gomez will attempt the PAT to try to tie it up for the Senators Bodner the wide receiver who made a great catch earlier holds it special teams team team team team to be big here good snap gets the kick away and that one is good just barely new score at the end of one Florence and Spartan tied at seven this is Falcon football we're back craving authentic Mexican flavor dive into delicious in Hugo's Mexican Restaurant 4160 Wilson Lakson leads Tharptown 28-0 Meek leads Vina 20-0 Mars Hill over Clements 21-0 Red Bay leads Tanner 15-0 Rogers leading Elkmont 14-7 Athens leads Decatur 7-0 Shoals Christian leading Waterloo 8-0 Central Manhattan tied at 7 as our Virginia Tech and Cal tied at 10 and in the bottom of the first the Blue Jays and the Dodgers are scoreless thank you James Moody here at Brawley Stadium Spartman scores on the final play of the first quarter tied up 7-7 both teams trading punches both teams get into the end zone what would you expect it's for a region title and it's playoff teams playing against each other wouldn't be surprised to see Gomez chip this kickoff like other teams have let's see what he does here and that's what he does chips it we scored off a turnover which is always good but they scored off of a pretty long drive you know and they had a couple plays on that long drive that were really pretty we knew it was going to happen eventually we've got to get our secondary calmed down and play in a little bit better position we've had a couple plays where we've been confused we've been lucky in a couple plays too if a couple of those cut passes were caught that were there they would have scored it before they did so first quarter jitters now it's the second quarter we've got to we've got to not sure what the delay is for here getting the ball out there but I'm not sure what it is now it's an official timeout right now Kenny Marson's asking what's going on there the ball's at the 24 yard line he's wanting an explanation something there's 1159 I think they didn't run enough clock off maybe is what he's thinking I don't know but he's asking a question and actually something on the field here we're gonna looks like we have a presentation there was going to be a presentation on the field that was supposed to be done at the end of the first quarter that the officials missed they never got that in so they're going to do that okay so national merit finalists national merit finalists is important so we make sure we honor them so Mr.

[1:32:48] Westbrook will do that while we do this reminds you also thank you to our sponsors tonight our good friends Florence Utilities Florence City Schools Johnson Passeur Medley and Virtual Attorneys North Alabama Bone and Joint Clinic TNT Fireworks Pre-game and Halftime Show they do for us in the post-game Yogurt Mountain Whataburger Hugo's Mexican Restaurant Singing River Dentistry Bank Independent Lost Pizza Village Discount Drugs Irons Electric Cypress Creek Range Henniger Johnson and Layton Insurance Carbine Construction thank you for being our sponsors for Florence Falcons football national merits being honored four of them including the football player Charlie Graves so congratulations to these four national merit finalists that's a big honor they're being honored here tonight in midfield in between the first and second quarter so a big time for them a nice job by Spartan realizing what has happened here and a nice sportsmanship by Ronnie Watson he could pitch a pit over there there are some coaches that would but he's like maybe they were talked about this before game time and agreed to and just did not get out in the pregame script so now the Falcons have it first and 10 at the 24 yard line and the white hat explains it with coach Watson he's okay with it and here we go tied at seven from Brawley Stadium Falcons offense needs to find some rhythm here against a pretty stingy Spartan defense went back in the backfield tripling still there and will come to the left side looking for running rim cuts back against the grain and got across the 25 to the 28 and a flag on the play right in the place of holding and that one will be moved back Mike that's not good right there DeCarson Johnson was on the carry there but being tossed in that area of holding that's going to drive us back 10 getting behind the sticks on first down is very difficult especially in this kind of territory that we're in deep in our own territory so DeCarson is getting a little run right now tripling on the sideline Hines is dressed out tonight too but he has not played in a couple of weeks so the penalty will move it all the way back to the 19 of the 14 yard line so it brings up first and 20 for Florence McDonnell wide to the right Goolsby to the left on his first down and 20 play with Johnson the tailback blitz coming going to leave it inside with Johnson found a little running room to the 16 17 yard line only again about two or three that run blitz is coming strong right now and they're bringing two or three a couple of times John you've seen that a couple times as a linebacker yeah they've piled up their defensive lineman on one side of the ball and they're stacking their two inside linebackers on the opposite side of the center and kind of making they've not shown this before I they've they've they've they've won't get the first down Johnson saw green grass and he got a little too excited and the legs come out from under him but he got a good run and bring up third and two yeah as he was cutting upfield he had a little stutter step and just tripped over his own feet there difficult play difficult break for the Falcons there and this is going to be a big third down Marquise Andrews in right now along with the Spartman band just arrived too they're making noise so Andrews in there with Shepard and Andrews playing tailback right now on this play at 10 seconds on the clock Falcons have to hurry on this third and two play going to leave it with Andrews right up the middle bounces and I two did not get anything so the Falcons will punt it away here Shepard will have to punt it to Seaton this is going to be one of those times where coach is going to have to circle the wagons tell these guys to settle into this game because they definitely look out of sorts at this point keep an eye on irons he is the up back on this three man up back on this fourth and two give it to Shepanada he'll punt it away line drive Seaton's going to go back and let it hit and bounce inside the 30 and Falcons catch it right there at the 28 and down it at the 28 so the Spartan defense comes up on third and two Falcons couldn't get the first down have to punt away the penalty hurts right there Mike absolutely you know when you start any driving you're behind the sticks especially 10 yards behind the sticks it's really difficult to really make up that ground tough break for the Falcons they almost made it but a little slip on the turf there came up a little short so having to punt it away we're asking the defense to make the stop right here Jeffrey Jones this Falcon crowd sort of taken out of it here in the first little bit yeah I was just noticing pretty quiet you know we need the band start playing need to get loud because they're right in front of our band right now two wide outs left two to the right one back in the field for the quarterback nailing he'll bring a man in motion going to leave it on the pitch with the wide receivers got running room outside cut it up to the 45 to the 50 still on his feet it's going to the Falcons had to call a time out because they couldn't get a substitute in Kenny Morrison burns the time out we'll do the same 922 to go in the first half tied at seven this is Falcon football we're back in 30 getting the kids to practice on time remembering if it's your day to bring snacks making it to the game with a clean jersey why are simple things sometimes so complicated thankfully with auto owners insurance doesn't have to be one of them auto owners works with independent agents who answer when you call so you can worry about more important things like whether your kid is going to run toward first or third base that's simple human sense in Florence see Luke Brown at Hineger Johnson and Layton insurance call 256 764 8682 back here at Raleigh Stadium Florence and Spartan tied at seven Kevin Johnson Mike Albertson with you and Mike big run there by Davis really probably was a pass to Nathaniel Davis they do that little pitch forward and he comes around for about 45 yards and now the Senators in good territory yeah that little pop pass we see that at many levels but it was able to get around to the outside they were able to cut up field and they found some green grass and so the Falcons were having trouble adjusting different personnel on the field than usual so they're really having to try and figure it out on the flying it's really difficult especially with the game of this magnitude Bonder and Reynolds wide to the left that's Chad Reynolds out left two to the right one back in the backfield now it's Marbury they're going to bring in motion again young man that just had the big catch they're going to leave it with Marbury inside and he gets across the 21 and knocked down finally around the 20 yard line they're going to give him about four yards though second down maybe even five to go give five it's Marbury big 200 pound back and right now this Falcon defense for the first time a little eye candy catching them off guard John they're just having to be quick and having to make a lot of fast decisions yeah they're taking advantage of their speed and the Falcons are not handling it as well and like we had a blitz on there and he ran it right inside of our blitzing defender Marbury still the tailback behind the quarterback Nalen slow it down now they have three to the right one to the left if we can keep confusing the picture pre-snap for the Spartans or sorry for the Senators that's going to be a big key Nalen gets a snap it goes behind him he lost he's going to have to go back and pick it up now he's in trouble he throws it away just throws it out he was right he had receiver out there smart play he didn't see the snap coming and brings up 35 Jeffrey Jones that was almost the break the Falcons needed if we weren't playing if we were blitzing at all we would have recovered that ball but we were playing back and that was a very smart play by Naylor to throw it over there to the sideline and he saved himself about 10 yards right there you can hear in the background the Falcons coaching staff saying watch the ball Chad Reynolds wide left along with Bodner Cam Reynolds to the right along with Davis the tailback still Marbury on this third and five Senators going to run left look to throw throws a quick out and it's complete right at the sticks and enough for the first down you hit Reynolds sitting down and he'll get the first down right at the 13 yard line that's a little sit down around actually Bodner who's his possession receiver Bodner comes in in this game 6 foot 195 pound senior Zay Bodner right now making some big plays first and 10 at the 13 quick snap going to leave inside with Marbury pushes far to the 10 and knock back into about two and a half maybe three the Senators knocking on the door and trying to take the lead for the first they're even having trouble trying to sub in and sub out it's been difficult they throw the snap back they fumble the snap the ball is on the ground Falcons may have it is there a flag on the play there is because the Falcons couldn't get a player off the field trying to substitute couldn't get a player off the field so it won't matter he was about two yards three yards out on the field and right now just trying you know you can trying to get off as fast as he could but he was still about two yards on the field when it happened they were prepared to fumble it Carter Grace was trying to get off the field but he was the cornerback on the other side and that penalty will move it down to the five we're bringing up second down and one to go Kevin they're on the far hash and unless they bring in big substitution package where you get your time to sub you can't sub against the team unless they're on the near hash or it's right after the play Marbury the tailback pistol formation right behind the quarterback Nalen Falcons look to bring blitz going to run it again to the right side this time looking to cut it up inside and dust with the three lost the ball on the ground Falcons have it Falcons recover the ball right at the five yard line unbelievable they strip it away again and come up with a football unbelievable job Carter Graves with a cast on one hand gets the ball in the other hand that's the turnover Florence needed as a great job there by the Falcons just the break that they needed you know Spartan was knocking on the door that was the answer prayer right there because the Falcons looked like they were going down for sure Jeffrey Jones did you happen to see who stripped the ball away nobody stripped it he was running carelessly with the ball and dropped it and Carter was in the right spot at the right time so first down now the Falcons have it at the five yard line 95 yards away but they hold on to a tie game at 7-7 McDonnell wide to the right two wide receivers to the left one back in the back field Davis the quarterback puts Shepard in motion to the right against the four man front going to leave it with his back off the left nope a slant across the middle complete got it in there somehow to McDonnell and he catches at the 24 yard McDonnell timed that beautifully in traffic what a great play by the Falcons I actually I think he sort of took something off that one there realized that McDonnell he had a guy in front of him so he let him get behind the linebacker then threw it nice job by Davis that gets it out to the 24 gain of 19 first and 10 at the 24 Davis looks to pass again throws it out here got it to McDonnell to the 25 got a great block to the 30 stays on his feet to the 34 and push far down around the 35 Falcons looking for a flag on their sideline he grabbed them by a face mask and pulled them out of bounds it was obvious by everybody but the officials it's enough for a first down to the 36 Jeffrey Jones the official was out of he wasn't out of position but he wasn't in a good position to see that I saw it too but that was something out of nothing right there at the 36 yard line first and 10 for the Falcons the Spartan band here trying to do all they can to help their fans they've got a good crowd here tonight too two wide outs left one to the right they're going to leave it inside with a back he cuts up forward and got a few yards down to the 39 give him about three wiggles forward I think that's Johnson on the carry we're at number zero and DeCarson getting some good runs good block in there I see coming up off the pile Tavarius reader and also coming up off the pile playing tonight some Nelson Elliott getting there making a block second down we'll call it seven to go clock approaching six minutes here tied at seven in the first half Lawrence has the ball at their 39 yard line trips looks to give it inside again nope lost it ball on the ground taken away and I think the Senators have it I think the Senators took it right out of his hand Florence is saying they still have it lost it it popped up taken away and the Falcons give it back and that one was right into the hands of Rashad Johnson trying to hold that RPO and couldn't do it yeah that play was doomed from the beginning there was already guys in the backfield as that ball was being handed off and he almost took it straight out of Kate's hands you know just the fact that we were able to knock him down after he grabbed that ball was a blessing now we're asking the defense to once again come up with one of those time stops Wesley Fuqua in at safety now they've moved Jay Shot Pearson back to his original cornerback first and 10 play they'll put trips to the left one to the right the tailback again back in there is Bryson Lawson Lawson is going to get it right off the left side looking to bounce it outside breaks a tackle to the 25 stretched out to the 20 and got the first down as he goes out to get Spartman credit they're holding their blocks Mike yeah they've done a good job there Jay Shot Pearson was actually getting double teamed because there was no one else to block out there he was on an island out on his own and he was attacked there by the running back easy first down there by the spark first at the 16 yard line for the Senators this time going to leave with Lawson right up the middle he gets a few to the 13 tripped up there by the big nose guard Jayden White who got a hood on the paw and pulled him down but still get about three second down and seven Jeffrey Jones his defense has been called on once let's see if they can do it one more time yep need a big turnover right here we're making these guys look better than they are Nalen looks over the defense nearly got the Falcons to jump but didn't he looks back to the sideline 20 on the play clock three man front for Florence Lawson right up the middle again this time he gets across the 10 down to the nine short of the first down about two yards away it'll bring up third and maybe three we'll call it third and three I think they have to touch the six yard line to get the first down but too much push now you've got to maybe take some gambles as they switch their wide receivers around to the left side and right on the third down and three play Nalen wants to go fast now he sets back looks back to the line of scrimmage he'll bring in as a quarterback and got the quarterback to sneak for four yards the old NFL play right there go in motion to stop and take the snap and go in so that'll be first down for the Senators they'll move the chains again they'll have first and goal at the four this Falcon defense being called on again Lawson gets it up the middle he breaks the tackle but he's going to push forward to the Falcon defense but a little fatigue right now on this Falcon defense Mike they've been out on the field the entire first half it feels like they've had a you know Sparkman has had long stocene drives and Florence hasn't gotten much going on the offensive side so you know this Falcon defense has been asked to do a lot they need to come up with a big play here second goal from the three nailing the quarterback looks back to the sideline we're under four minutes to go here in the half tied at seven but Sparkman knocking on the door lost off the right side this time trying to get outside broken tackle good block on the outside he's knocked down at the one yard line hammered out of bounds there good job by the Falcons come up really tattooed him but a flag against the Senators and it's a big one I think they already signal hold and call against the Senators the white hat was quick to come up with it let's see if he makes the call it is going against Sparkman that's a huge penalty Mike yeah that was a huge penalty they were knocking on the door they were going to be on the one yard line that's going to push them back a little bit now you got to know where your pass defense is know where Bodner and the Reynolds boys are which will be second down and goal from the 13 three and a half minutes ago Florence only has one timeout left Bodner will go wide to the left along with Davis the Reynolds boys will come to the right Chad and Cam the back is lost Florence with the three man front now they look to show blitz now they back out of it Nalen checks the play play clock at two gets the snap looks to give it inside and draw plays open at the 10 and hit down no he broke a tackle stays on his feet to the three to the two to one he keeps bouncing off tacklers he is a tough back to bring down and he'll bring up third and go at the one had him at the five and he just kept pushing forward Mike yeah there were definitely about two or three missed tackles there by the Falcons he was able to spin off some and get some extra yardage they go fast they give it to Lawson Nope Nalen's going to keep it Nalen's gonna be bouncing outside Nalen's not gonna get there he's gonna lose yardage back at the five the Falcon defense comes up huge right there coming up making the play on the outside Jay shot Pearson Derek Peters in there as go from the five and he's still thinking about it I think he's gonna run that play clock all the way down and call a time out he's milking this one down but Jeffrey Jones what a job of the Falcon D Bo Bursk he was in the back field he's the one that caused the disruption and they just caught on their heels the whole time so that was a great play hard side the soccer coach supposed to be with us at half looking forward to that in the morning the coaches breakfast here on 93.9 the score as I'll be the last coaches breakfast of the season interviewing coaches from around the shows area talking about Friday night's games and Thursday night's games on Saturday morning at the coach breakfast 8am here on 93.9 the score tied at 7 here at Brawley Stadium Spartan with fourth and goal at the five decision time for the Senators and Mike what do you do if you're Ronnie Watson if you're a Spartan coach on the road don't you kick the field goal here you know I think you take the lead and with the offense struggling like you do you always take the lead and then worry about the rest later on I he is the holder so Bonner is the holder he sort of looks back to I don't like the way he looks back he's looking to say what do we got here it'll be a 22 yarder from the left hash the Falcons have been known to block kicks in the pass but you got to know where you're at crowd making noise good snap kick is on the way and the kick is good new score Spartman leads it 10 to 7 with 2 12 to go here in the first half this is Falcon football we're back in 30 it's football time in Alabama the players are hitting the field the cheerleaders are firing up the crowd the drum majors striking up the band and we all stand to the national anthem this is congressman Robert Adderholt while you cheer your favorite team this season I'll be on President Trump's team shaking things up in Washington when we stand on conservative principles it's a win for everyone I'm Robert Adderholt and I approve this message paid for by Adderholt for Congress the voice of the Florence High School Falcons WYTK FM Rogersville Athens Decatur the Shoals 93 9 the score Spartman takes the lead over Florence here at Brawley Stadium 10 to 7 that last drive from our statistician John McDaniel Kevin 8 plays it covered 24 yards it took 3 minutes and 39 seconds time of possession but a 22 yard field goal for the Senators Jeffrey Jones that was a win though for the Falcons defense it was a win especially because they had it on the one yard line going in that field goal kicker he barely hit that field goal too Gomez to kick it away he likes to chip it here chip it to the right side and J-shot Pearson going to get it at the 16 J-shot goes back to the right comes back to the left no he stays right now breaks the tackle stays on his feet and finally stays on his feet some more 25 outside to the 30 and steps out of bounds and thrown down at the 32 they throw the flag Falcons and the flag comes and that will be 15 J-shot got slung down after he stepped out of bounds and that should be 15 across the way and that would move it up to about midfield with 202 to go that's a big penalty that's against Spartan and Mike that does change some things you can take some shots downfield and really try and put some points on the board he must have picked the flag up he had it out he had it out and never touched the ground though I guess it was in front of the Spartan bench so we don't get the 15 yarder I'll be honest with you I thought J-shot might have tried to sell that one a little bit too we know J-shot well enough to know that that is exactly what happened two four wide receivers out there including J-shot Pearson in the slot for Davis on the first down play straight drop by Davis looks to pass throws the out pattern got it to J-shot at the 35 and he dropped it he wanted to run before he caught it there to bring up second down and 10 with 158 to go in the half this is this is just one of those games right now that Florence really needs to shake themselves and shake this off and figure it out because there's a couple drop passes on time penalties and turnovers and it's not looking good so far Omari and Martin wide reffed along right with Goolsby McDonald and Pearson to the left wouldn't be surprised here if McDonald and Pearson do a double go pattern here we'll see got to protect though straight drop pressure comes steps up in the pocket goes deep down the middle for McDonald can he get there he couldn't bring it in flag flag and flag will come though they were grabbing that was actually Pearson they were grabbing his jersey and that'll be 15 yards against Spartman there and that's what you do you take some chances and force that defense to make plays yeah you know Jay shot did a good job of getting downfield but as the ball was in the air he got a little rub from that safety and was able to try and pull off couldn't couldn't do it almost made an amazing catch down the down the field but the Falcons are going to catch a penalty here Holden's what they call not interference so that'll be a 10 yarder they'll move it up to the 42 and first and 10 and you set a downs for the Falcons at their own 42 58 yards away trailing 10 to 7 one time out in their hip pocket they've had to call a couple on defense with 151 one on defense one on offense with 151 to go here in the half trips to the left including Pearson in the middle here with McDonnell on the outside and Goosby on the inside straight drop looks left throws it out here and caught it but Goosby couldn't bring it in that one was a little fast ball there he wasn't ready for it trying to get a quick 5 yard catch bring up second down and 10 yeah Goosby was turning right and the ball was delivered left that's a really hard ball to adjust to it was behind them a little bit with but the Falcons a little out of sort on offense no doubt second and 10 straight drop looks up the middle blitz coming out Davis steps up he can run with it some and does to the 45 and chase down from behind at the 122 to go but clock running but take your time and get the right play in you're at the 47 yard line third and five Davis has trips to the left one to the right watch for McDonald for a starting go they bring the blitz look to go he's in trouble he's going down the blitz came in was an RPO battle gets the sack back at the 40 and now Spartman will take time out with 59 seconds to go as the Falcons will have to punt it away this is Falcon football we're back in 30 seconds convenient ways to view and pay your utility bill visit florenceal.org front slash enroll or call 760-6512 for more information fourth down and 11 here at Brawley Stadium the Falcons will have to punt it away on fourth down and they're going to try to set Seton up who's been a good kick returner he's already had a one for about 20 yards Shevanada will punt it away and coverage will be a he'll stand back at the 24 will Seaton good snap of course from hand back good punt from Shevanada Seaton is going to go back and take it at the 17 makes one miss at the 20 makes another miss at the 25 makes another miss at the 30 at the 35 to the 40 and finally knocked down around the 43 he is electric Seaton gets a big run back and will be at the 43 yard line with 43 seconds to go and a couple of timeouts in the pocket for this Spartan team and they're going to take some chances up 10 to seven I think they have one is that right John that's correct one timeout now this defense who's been called upon really needs to come up big for Florence first and 10 at the 44 yard line one back in the back field is Marbury Bodner is the one they'd like to go to along with Davis they've got some great wide receivers to the left two to the right are the Reynolds boys Nalen brings his man in motion going to leave with him a half back pass one to throw back now he's in trouble Davis looking Davis hitting the back field Davis goes down Falcons sack the wide receiver on the trick play all the way back at the 34 and great coverage as well yeah that's you know sometimes sometimes those trick plays they come back to bite you the Falcons did a great job of being able to continue the cover downfield and pursue that carrier yeah they're going to let the clock run now with 20 seconds to go all the way back a loss of about 10 coach Ronnie Watson said here tonight at Brawley Stadium with a lot at stake at the half Sparkman leads you the falcons are lucky to only be down three here at the half to a senator team that really controlled the first half see if the falcons can regroup and come out and play a better second half and get a huge win tonight a lot at stake tonight for this game no doubt about it falcons have already secured a playoff berth but this one would be for a region title if they could come back and get the win we're joined now by the head coach of the Florence soccer team coach I should say coach Glenn Harshad coach how you doing KJ thanks for having me hello falcon nation yeah I think you know a lot of people out there listening you've listened a lot to our games we appreciate that you're always encouraging to us and we appreciate that and you know I think back there have been a couple of times I've done this so long that we welcomed in your family as they were born a couple of times as well it's funny you said that because when we brought our daughter Finley home way back when we literally the times daily classical was going on that night and we communicated with you and you announced her to the world introduced her to the world that night way back when and she just graduated from Florence High School last May I have been doing this a long time thank you so much I appreciate that I want to thank you personally for help putting Jesus in her heart man she's crazy about you brother good good folks right there good family there and let's talk about your soccer program you have had great success with your soccer program we've been to state tournaments we've been there showed up our name is out there and really a great season last year and a lot coming back this year we do we've been very blessed I'll say this just the consistency of a program and it's built on the backs of those wonderful kids and those parents I mean quite frankly a lot of work goes into it you know from a lot of people a lot of things you don't see and you know we've about three four years ago we had about four eighth graders five eighth graders on varsity by the end of the season and when you're 7A you're going you know there's some growing pains well guess what they grew up they grew up so most of the guys they played against maybe even out of college by now so we're good we're bringing some folks back and we've had really small senior classes the last three actually and we're going to have double digit seniors this year so back the way it used to be so yeah really looking forward to that and again outstanding group of kids soccer season in high school when is the dates when you start and how things start up and when your season starts we'll try out the first week of December first official practice third week it's Martin Luther King Day that's right and then the first game will be the 6th of February so February 6th is when it starts off but practice starts early you try it start early so it's around the court it'll be here faster we know a lot of the guys are playing travel soccer we're coaches out scouting them it's a year long thing there and I'll tell you met with the seniors well it's been several months now and they're like what do we want to do schedule wise and they started naming hey let's go to the Bailey so we're going to Birmingham open the season requesting some big dogs but you know what that's not the need for us we've been doing that for just about from the beginning and just from the beginning so really excited it's really cool too had our middle school meeting this past week going there seeing some new faces recognize some of them from the summer but you get the 7th grade 8th grade kids in we have the conversation with them I'll ask the guys hey how many of y'all have ballboyed before and all these hands go up and it's like they look up to those players and these guys are for real and now they get to do that that's cool so try to get that continuity with the program you've built it up well how many years have you been coaching the soccer program now when did they consolidate oh yeah 2004 I think that was it 22 seasons then so we've been doing this together a long time and that's good as we speak with Glenn Harshide the head coach of the Florence soccer team and coach one of the things that I think is pretty special too is when you come out football season on Friday nights there's some boys now kicking in the past few years that have come from the soccer program over the past 10 years probably that have helped this football team oh absolutely Chandler Dixon obviously big name since UNA now but you got Charlie Steven and Parker all three of mine and I have a trivia question what young man played varsity for us last year is going to college next year to play football non-kicker wow what the guy played last year but would go to football non-kicker non-kicker Walt Barrett maybe that's it I got lucky on that so he's a big boy to be playing soccer out there the young man is not afraid of contact he likes the contact he enjoys it that's good well let's talk about what has made this program so successful over the years honestly you know one of the things and I'll share this story early on and you were there at the beginning it's working with the little kids it's working with the youth as much as you want to win on game day if you're starting to play when you're in ninth and tenth grade it's too late and that goes for just about every sport and we were not having a good time with Bob Jones that first season and I looked at my assistant Ben Murray at the time and I said we gotta start working with the kids and you know it takes time it takes time to build a program but I'll tell you my son Landon and I were just this past weekend in Huntsville tournament with our little U11s and you know they're crazy about him I'm too old they're walking where's Landon but no that's it working with these working with little guys and that's it develop the skill set it's not the most well it's really fun to me it's great I love working with the little guys but I think that's it and it goes like that you go to the sportsplex there's so many kids out there playing all kind of different sports and quite honestly the sooner you can get them with a falcon on their chest the better off it's going to be well coach you have done an excellent job with the teams over the years and we're excited about this season I hear a lot of good things the senior laden team as you said kicking off on February 6th and will be cold I'm sure during those first few weeks before you know it'll be springtime before going to be tough Coach Kenny Marson is going to be tough Falcons a little short handed they've got two or three players they're not able to play tonight maybe even four and some key players as well and right now the stats we'll tell you that as well and I think our stats are ready for us Chick-fil-A brings us our stats let's send it over to John take it away Jeffrey did you bring us others any Chick-fil-A or just you I just I finished it off from the press box over there thank you for that alright let's start with the visiting senators tonight Sparkman in the first half 158 yards of offense they had 80 yards rushing on 22 carries 5 for 9 passing for 78 yards 11 first downs in the half 3 for 6 on third down conversion no fourth down attempts 6 penalties for 62 yards in the half 2 turnovers 1 for 1 on the PATs and the time of possession 13 minutes 15 seconds Falcons in the first half 68 yards of offense we had 14 rushes for 55 yards 2 completions on 6 attempts for 13 yards 7 first downs in the half 0 for 4 on our third down conversions and no fourth down attempts 5 penalties for 23 yards we had one turnover as well 1 for 1 on the PATs and the time of possession 10 minutes 3 seconds sometimes the stats do tell the story they do and also one of the stats that maybe just didn't stand out but you say but you talk about time of possession but Sparkman snapped it 31 times I believe to 20 times only for Florence so those fast tempo Mike was a big thing about the tempo and the speed of that offense kept making the Falcons they couldn't adjust and some adjustments have to be made to that because we're going to continue to see that there in the second half absolutely you know early on they had a better running game than we did and they just made more plays in that first half plain and simple we at times shot ourselves in the foot we had some drop passes some other miscues turnovers and such that you know we're fighting for a region championship here and those things can't happen if we think this second half needs to be cleaned up big time if we think we're going to be champions of anything I know some people say well they've heard a lot of chatter this week a lot of things but I don't think that's really what it is I think this team has come out and played hard they've played you know against a really good team but this is this is a tough matchup I think for Florence this is not your matchup it's really good because Spartan is speed like we are we've been using our speed against other teams this night the speed is pretty equal right the speed is pretty equal and having one of our one of our big time defenders you know sideline you know the next man up there's no excuses for it it does factor in you know some some confusion on the defense and such I mean every player matters for sure but having Walt on the sideline isn't helpful in this situation the Falcons continue to battle and fight we've seen them play some magical second halves earlier in this year so we're hoping for another one here I mean it is within striking distance it is a good game but right now I think Florence is beating themselves more than Sparkman's beating them Florence is fortunate to only be down three I think at the half ten to seven but we'll take it and the Falcons will have the ball to start the second half because rarely do we win the toss but we did tonight and we'll have the ball to start the third quarter hey let's get a couple of college picks in and you know let's talk about the biggest game of the year that we've all been looking forward to and had it circled on the calendar and it's tomorrow and that's when Missouri goes to Vanderbilt and Nashville boy we've been thinking can y'all believe that that game tomorrow could be for a playoff position for one of those two teams JJ who do you like in that one that's that's tough you know I'm going to take I'm going to take Vanderbilt you know they're they're on the roll and they're just they're just showing more as long as Bobby is healthy I'd put him against anybody except for maybe Indiana okay all right what do you think there John yeah that's kind of a tough game it's not you're not really sure what to it's just there's so many years of anti-Vanderbilt that's kind of built up but I'm going to go with I'm going to go with Vandy Vandy at home they're the favorite I think they get the win Mike I'm going to have to go with the quarterback and there's no doubt in my mind that Diego Pavia is by far one of the better competitors that I've seen in the last several years in college football and I'm just going to roll with him I've got no dog in the fight both teams are playing excellent ball but I'm going with the home team and my favorite quarterback they're one of the oldest teams in college football Vanderbilt is people don't realize that go look they've got a lot of transfers that are seniors 22, 23 years old and the older team Pavia is like 40 so you've got to think about that so when you look at it it's one of those games in Nashville that you say man but I think it might be one of those that Missouri nobody's giving them a chance I'm going to take the Tigers to slip in here and get the upset now that y'all all said this might be exactly where Missouri can step up there and you know we'll factor this into a couple other picks down the road but all the coaching chatter of where is this coach going to go it does factor in I know Vanderbilt has had less interest even though I think that they should more but I know Missouri's coach has also had some looks as well so like all this weird coaching carousel the players know and it factors in Texas A&M goes to LSU who wins that one JJ?

[2:21:08] Texas A&M alright very simple straight to it even in the white jerseys well they may be wearing the color jerseys at LSU because LSU wear the white they will be wearing what do you think John? you know this is really surprising those arid region people think this is a close game I would say typically give me the Aggies yeah give me the Aggies he'll stick with them two and a half alright what do you think Mike? yeah I'm thinking look LSU is tough at home but Texas A&M has just been playing better ball LSU has not shown me much this year and this could be this could be where the wheels fall off for LSU so I'm going with A&M yeah it's at night it's in LSU it's in Baton Rouge but I still think Texas A&M is better I do I think they are just a better team I think Texas A&M may go undefeated into the championship game if they get by this one they have a nice schedule they'll fold up they're Texas A&M they'll fold up I'm not sure this is a pretty good team Alabama South Carolina anybody think South Carolina has a chance tomorrow at South Carolina I don't anyone I do not I mean a chance they got to play the game right yeah but not really okay Auburn goes to Arkansas in a monsoon tomorrow not that anyone really is thinking that but what do you think on that one anybody picking Auburn I have zero confidence in Auburn's offense it is supposed to be a rainstorm all game so that'll be a difference give me Auburn okay you take Auburn in a rainstorm give me Auburn I think I will pick Auburn to win it but I'll say this the difference in that game tomorrow could be this one coach is playing for his job and another coach is playing for a job and so the pressure is going to be on Hugh Freeze I think that will be a difference Petrino will be playing loose and calling all the reverses and everything else Coach Freeze was asking for all but please AD give me a vote of confidence during the week that's never a good sign not a good sign and going on the road monsoon or not it doesn't matter Auburn's had a pretty bad run the last couple weeks I predicted this is a bold one I predicted last week that Florida would let their coach go on Sunday and I also I predicted another coach being let go this Sunday and I'm not going to say who it is okay we got an idea then all right any upsets tomorrow I'll give you my upset tomorrow I think Oklahoma knocks off Ole Miss in Norman, Oklahoma I think a hangover from the Georgia game all the chatter about Lane Kiffin we've talked about everything but also I just think Oklahoma at home they get away with a lot of different things there it seems like I'm going to think Oklahoma wins that one the people in the desert don't call it call them the underdog just throwing that out there really I think Oklahoma wins any upsets that y'all see tomorrow you know it could be really interesting with Texas going to Mississippi State it's a 3 o'clock kickoff I don't think they've been to Mississippi State those cowbells are real and they're loud and if you haven't been or experienced it it's hard to play in it is so I think that could get them any others y'all see I'll give you my one last week we got a bunch of upsets this week you may not be as many in the top 25 what about Tennessee Kentucky I don't think Kentucky has the offense to play with Tennessee Tennessee by the way Tennessee got beat by Alabama on that on that pick six which was a 14 point swing Tennessee's pretty good they played at Alabama and really played them nose to nose except for that one play which was the game changing play so I really like Tennessee's team I think they'll actually rebound and I think they may run the table all the way to a playoff bid as well any others y'all see tomorrow jump out at you leap out at you I mean I think Washington at home I was trying to see who they were playing I lost that one for a second does anybody think UCLA can knock off Indiana at Indiana no way no I do not actually now this is the week to get Indiana after all the hoopla for the last kind of couple weeks but I don't think UCLA the fighting Jerry Newhouse but I don't think they've got enough all right I'll tell you one to keep an eye on that you wouldn't think Syracuse goes to Georgia Tech Syracuse has not played well Georgia Tech's played really well but it's one of those you just get a feel that maybe something can happen there so keep an eye on that one as well we're at the half by the way on the TNT Fireworks halftime show when we come back third quarter action we're back in 30 seconds hey Falcon fans this is going right to left as the kickoff will come from Gomez Falcons trail 10-7 in this key final region game of the season chip kick to the right side goes out of bounds they'll let it go and it will so that'll be a flag and a Florence will get it up at the 35-yard line and nice job by Pearson and France to say let that one go so the Falcons take it first and 10 at the 35 and Mike you know we say the first five minutes of a half is important boy it really could be important here for Florence it certainly is we're going to see what kind of adjustments have been made from the half it's going to be one of those things that Florence has has some things that they could do offensively to mitigate some of the defensive stuff that Sparkman was doing and vice versa so just being able to see what the first couple plays look like are going to be huge McDonald and Goolsby will be the wideouts one to the left McDonald to the right Davis the quarterback has triplet behind him Shepard is the H-back first and 10 play five man front now for the Senators Davis will check back to the line of scrimmage he's got one-on-one out there with McDonald now they bounce out of their signals there as they hear Florence check looks to throw quick out complete got it to McDonald made a man miss and got the first down stayed on his feet out to the 46 yard line give him 12 on the carry all the way out to the 47 that was a nice pitch and catch there by Cade being able to set his feet deliver a beautiful ball to McDonald McDonald made a great great play to make a guy miss there to pick up the first down first and 10 for the Falcons at the 47 the 12 yard game Rhett Wilburn checking in at tight end he'll be in there along with Shepard on this first and 10 play at close to midfield again same setup Davis long count this time going to run it with triple it off the right side he stops hesitates nowhere to go and he's going to lose a yard maybe get back to the line of scrimmage as he fights forward and he'll bring up second down and we'll call it 10 to go that Sparkman defense is smothering right now and Hines will check into the game for the first time for the Falcons Elijah Hines on the second down 10 play it doesn't look like the offense really adjusted to what Sparkman has been doing with overloading that one side that really had no answer for it thus far but Pearson and McDonald will go left to the wide side they'll put three defensive backs over here to try to triple them up Falcons will check back they'll have two cornerbacks up man to man in the safety over the top on Pearson give it off to triple off the left side he's trying to use the speed and dust at the 45 cuts up to the 50 pushes far down to the 47 give him about seven on that one at 17 on the carry actually that was Hines excuse me Hines comes in there and gets about seven brings up third and three and the Falcons go heavy package Burski will come in White will come in Zoe Martin will come in Irons will come in on third and three under center eye set boy it's a long three gotta touch the 43 for a first down try to get the Senators jump they don't check back with 18 on the play clock at the 46 yard line for the Falcons really no no choice they're gonna go for it here on third and three under center gonna leave it with Zoe off the left side trying to get there and he's not that time he gets pushed far to the 45 he get maybe a yard but he's gonna be about two yards short and brings up fourth and two decision time for Kenny Morrison at 948 and I think he's gonna leave his offense out there and why not you're down 10 to 7 there he goes he's gonna switch up now he's gonna bring his punting team out so he's gonna punt it away and play defense so a run defense out there so it'll be back deep Seaton again I think it is to return the kick the last couple of punts Sparkling dropped back deep into the zone it opened some things up yep Bodner say Bodner back Bodner back now he's a good hands guy back there get it back to Shevinata and they will punt it away I thought they might run a fake Bodner's gonna let it hit and the Falcons are down there inside the 10 bouncing inside the 5 down to the 3 down to the 2 well down it there great job by handbacking friends who said let that ball roll and that's a great punt decision by Kenny Morrison pays off right there Mike right being able to to really flip the field and dominate that field position battle right there is big time great job of pinning it back there by Shevinata and great job by the coverage team to down it where it was Jeffrey Jones this defense has had to play a lot of snaps today they really need to get some big plays here well they're rested now they have had to play a lot of snaps but this first play of the second half for them on defense they're in a good position right here Lawson is the tailback Nalen is the quarterback he stands in his end zone about four yards deep gets a look at the count gets the snap hands it off to Lawson up the middle he's hitting no gain maybe a yard to the three good defense there by the Falcons they close that hole up a couple of times so far and it makes me nervous with him out in the for him out in the shotgun there he has not handled the ball well off that snap he's fumbled two already and that one he kind of juggled a little bit so watch that as a possible issue later on trips to the left one to the right on the second down and nine play Nalen looks to pass looks back to the left he's in trouble in the back field he rolls out of the end zone to his left now still running throws it away he had two Falcons coming at him and he had to throw it out of bounds and it brings up third down to nine and a great job of the Falcons D Jaden White and friends got in there and made some noise Joe Martin was the first one that jumped in there it was big time so Joe got in there and flushed him out to the right and here comes the Falcon crowd by the way Mike excuse me Nate Pryde was able to continue to pursue and he had to throw it away to make this third down two wide receivers wide to the left two to the right on this third and nine play at the three yard line if the Falcon D can hold here would be huge Falcon fans all into it play clock at nine puts a man in motion to the left that's Davis looks to pass drop back now he's in trouble throws to the left going out there one on one is caught down the field by Bodner at the 40 breaks the tackle to the 45 gets to the 50 breaks another tackle and slides down at the 44 threw it up in the air and Bodner just out raced two Falcons and turned his body and caught the pass and a big time play by Spartman and a heartbreaking play for the Falcons yeah that was one of those situations where it appeared that our safety was targeted there by the wide receiver quick snap leave it with Lawson inside he gets across the 40 pushes far to the 38 give him about seven Falcons Falcons are saying balls down and they're calling and they give the Falcons the ball he fumbled it and it comes down and Falcons get it big break there Peters came out of there with it Derek Peters with it I tell you they couldn't even get the chain set they run the play so fast they let them snap it and I was like well the chains aren't set and the next thing I know it's a turnover and Falcons get a big break at the 38 Jeffrey Jones needed but we've got to on offense we've got to start moving the ball we've got to have more consistency well you can't panic here if you're Florence we've been given a gift we need to use it Hines will come in to run tailback on this play first and 10 at the 38 McDonnell wide left he's got one on one out here Davis looks back to the sideline I tell you what though these are some of the better defensive backs that I've seen that can run with some of these guys for Florence first and 10 puts a man in motion to the left now looks to give it to Hines off the left side using the speed cuts it up in the middle and hit at the 40 yard line he could get maybe one or two can't get the stretch and a late flag there taken and that may be against Florence for a late block there and we've seen that a couple of times this year and he didn't get called that time when the offensive lineman got called on it I'm not sure it was like 77 Reader might have got caught late on the block downfield and that's going to be a 10 yarder and that's after the play too that hurts that's just like 15 yards so now you'll have second down in 25 so you had it at the 38 and it was an effort play but too late sometimes being the hardest worker in the room comes back to bite you Reader was doing his job trying to continue to block downfield and one of the Spartan players sold it pretty hard after the play picked up the penalty I agree with the flag but it's tough break for the Falcons Gools speak to the left Pearson and McDonald wide right and now a timeout by the official I think they're setting the chains back he's asking something Kenny Marson wants to know what that was but they said it was a dead ball penalty that's what he was finding now second down and 25 to go Heinz is still the tailback seven minutes 38 seconds to go in the third Falcons trail it by three well you might take a shot downfield here right now blitz coming picked it up gets rid of it down the right sideline going going one one one on one with McDonald caught it that's a 45 to the 40 and knocked out of bounds checking the field for yellow flags there are none that's a first down for Florence right away with a hole too he saw that I didn't see that I was just watching Cade deliver a beautiful ball in the air McDonald beat his guy off the snap right there right away it became a foot race McDonald hovered under it brought that one in beautiful play by the Falcons stepped out at the 43 they say first and 10 for the Falcons Heinz still the tailback five man front now they check it got two to the left Davis one to the right seven and a half to go here in the third quarter far it's down by three but knocking on the door after the big throw to McDonald Davis looks over the defense gets the snap blitz coming throws the swing out got it to Goolsby tries to use first to catch that pass but to be able to cut it up field made a couple guys miss there really fleet of foot after he caught that ball catching up some extra yards first down John they're bringing the blitz a lot now yeah they've absolutely been heating us up but you live by it you die by it get it on the edge make one man miss and there's no backup help Pearson in the slot to the right McDonnell out wide right to the left will be the will be Goolsby one back in the backfield Heinz on the first down play going to give it to Heinz up the middle Jitter Boats gets away to the 30 to the 25 stays on his feet falls far down to the 23 give him seven I like the way he kept going forward and forward and forward and get seven on the carry right there's no no hesitation there no wait for just running downhill and it was a good job being able to pick up as many yards as possible to make this a manageable second down second down three wide right still is McDonnell and Pearson in the slot five man front Shepard in motion to the right going to run the outside giving Heinz looks cuts up the middle gets to the 31 he'll be short by a yard to the first down a helmet comes off for a falcon or a signature one I'm not sure but a helmet come off as a signature player looks like lost his helmet will have to come out of the game and he'll bring up Jeffrey Jones maybe third and a half yard yep and Martin got the first down to more 10 5 he will score Zoh Martin found a hole Zoh Martin finds the end zone Florence finds the lead that was a huge burst there by Zoh Martin good job huge hole there by the offensive line and Zoh Martin ran right behind it made a guy miss and really once he saw that go line he had a burst of speed that I haven't seen from him in quite some time great job by the Falcons to get that score wow that's a great answer by the Falcons to take the lead back Graves to attempt the PAT good snap good hold kick on the way kick it is good new score Florence 14 Spartman 10 don't go away this is Falcon football hello my name is Keith Medley and I'm an attorney with the law firm of Johnson Passeur Medley and Burchill why call an out of town lawyer when you can call our law firm which has over 100 years of combined experience in all areas of the law if you have a legal matter please call me or Leslie Johnson Debrabell Passeur Adam Burchill at 256-766-3131 we're proud to be a sponsor of Florence High School Athletics no representation is made that the quality of legal services to be performed is greater than the quality of legal services performed by other lawyers we've got a good one at Brawley Stadium and the Falcons take the lead 14-10 that last drive John McDaniel Kevin that was one of the best ones by the Falcons tonight five plays 62 yards one minute 55 seconds off the clock Zoe Martin 21 yard touchdown sprint overcoming a 15-yard penalty too that's big as well Greenhall will boot it away going to be taken by the Senators at the 7 at the 20 and hit down at the 20-yard line and knocked down by a host of Falcons right there good coverage right there and this Falcon now momentum on the blue side right now Mike yes this is the first time even on the coverage there that's the best coverage that the Falcons have had thus far so we're seeing a different second half here from the Falcons so far his defensive stand is going to be huge Nalen will bring out Marbury as his tailback the big back will come in on the first down play and the turnover that the Falcons get recovered by Derek Peters turns into points later on the Falcons the Falcons got their best driving to lead at 14 10 now can the Falcons come up big trips to the left one to the right for the white Spartan centers who spread this field out a lot one back in the backfield is Marbury Nalen the quarterback he is a speedster as well play clock at three gets the snap looks to roll out to the left wants to throw throws on the run and that ball is caught right at the sticks about two yards short Bodner brings it in number 11 is going to be in the dreams and the nightmares of the Falcons defensive backs he has been everywhere yeah he does a great job he's really quick off the ball and is able to find some green space he caught that ball nicely after eight yard game at the 28 third and second two they're going to leave it inside Marbury he gets hit right at the scrimmage will be right at the sticks I think they may give him the first down as he touches the 30 and that'll be enough to move the chains but Jeffrey Jones right now in this Falcon defense starting to play a little different than they did in the first out yeah we're giving a little bit giving some things up but Bogner he's a special athlete he's all over the place you're right two left two right one in the back field the first and 10 play at the 30 it's they go tempo again Nalen going to roll to his right want the throw now he's going to try to run now he's going to hit as he throws and he throws it out of bounds that's a good job by the Falcons there Jaden White was that chasing him down no check it that was Irons Irons was running with Nalen that shows the speed of Irons right all week long the pursuit drill they chased after Parker Driggers the assistant coach now they're chasing the real thing and Nalen this Falcon defense cowbells ringing the Falcon band playing loud second down and 10 we're in the third quarter Farts just took the lead 14 to 10 515 to go Nalen long count now this time at the six there he's going to have a man in motion to the right gets snap back to pass wants to throw looking now he's got time stays in the pocket has plenty of time now he rolls out of the pocket now he's going to throw down the sideline got a man out there but he's out of bounds I don't think he got it they're going to him oh my goodness no way he was nowhere close and they gave him the catch at the 45 yard line that is a tough break you can hear the Falcon crowd they knew there's no way that ball came down oh that's a tough break but a great throw and a catch and we'll give it a first down for the Senators and they want to go fast at the 45 they're going to give it up the middle Marbury hit at the line of scrimmage breaks one tackle but not only for a yard he'll go down there good defense by the Falcons they were so concerned about running that next play that the offensive line didn't even move on that snap it was not a He was a yard off give Spartan credit as a quarterback that's watching that gets it snaps it doesn't worry about the play just wants to get the penalty we're trying we try and get guys to jump off sides with the hard count this is what they're doing they're running tempo and making sure we can't sub trying to chaos it is what you would say second down and three at the 38 yard line Falcons up four but Senators driving 443 to go in the third quarter excuse me Marbury still the tailback going to roll out to the right it's nailing looking to roll and throw now he sets his feet throws to the sideline complete got it for the first down to Bodnar at the 30 breaks the tackle to the 25 and finally knocked down by four Falcons at the 23 Jeffrey Jones Bodnar is a handful we're going to have to figure out where he is at all times he's the one that's hurting us the most and the last few plays it's just been a scramble to the outside and he's been open quick snap coming again they've put the Falcons at pressure if they can first and 10 at the 24 they've been rolling to the wide side a lot trying to put pressure on with bounce inside the 20 around the 18 they give him about 6 on that one maybe even 7 to the 17 and a good block on the outside locking up that cornerback and a whistle now I'm not sure what it's for I think it's an injured Falcon coming off an injury on the play Falcon on the sideline coming up a little deep and that's Zoe Martin I think it is Zoe a little shake he's Kenny Morrison is doing right now he's like hey you don't have to sub yet now he gets him in there okay so Zoe Martin will be walking under his own power to get checked second down and four to go at the 17 Falcons lead it by four but precariously as the Senators are driving Reynolds and Davis will go wide to their left Bodner he's over here to the right you gotta know where he is one back look to give it inside wide open to the 15 to the 10 to the 5 is his draw and he will score Marbury goes right to the end zone and Senators take the lead with 344 to go here in the third quarter and they lead it now by score 16 to 14 and what an answer by Spartman right there Mike yeah that's exactly what you like to do if you're Sparkman they did a great job with a nice little drive there we've caught the Falcons off guard at times we're able to run a few scramble plays found their way into the end zone to retake the lead Gomez to snap is good the kick is good new score Senators lead the Falcons 17 14 don't go away we're in the third quarter and back in 30 spices it'll have you coming back for more don't forget dessert cotton blues cheesecake slices are here creamy dreamy and downright legendary these flavors won't stick around forever only lost pizza company shows where the lost get fed back at Brawley Stadium and it's going to take an ultimate warrior type effort for the Falcons if they're going to win this one they're down now 17 14 against the Spartman team with 344 to go in the third quarter that last drive from our statistician John McDaniel eight plays KJ it was a total of 80 yards one minute 59 seconds they did it in quite quickly but 17 yard touchdown run caps off the drive zone Martin the injured player went out and they attacked right where he was went up the middle but I don't think it mattered I think it was more of a tired defense Gomez to boot it away this one coming back Pearson is going to take it around the 18 Jay Scott goes back to the right looking for running room stays outside and got a block this time he's to the 35 to the 40 flag on the play and finally he's going to knock out of bounds around midfield but it's going to come back and it was the right here around the 28 yard line after the penalty Jeffrey Jones on the sideline you're in a battle you've got to come and you're going to win it you're going to earn it yeah we got it it's gut check time right here we got to answer back with a counterback with that touchdown right there was a pretty drive on their part 80 yard drive for them and you we're going throwed it up to him he's a better athlete than that corner Mike I'll be honest with you this Spartan offense right now may be one of the tougher ones we've seen to cover I the 28 I think Heinz still in there we'll check it look to throw the quick out complete to McDonnell at the 33 makes a man miss to the 35 and knocked out of bounds after a gain of seven good job right there getting seven yards brings up second down and we'll call it three to go at the 35 as Davis finds Heinz on the Spartan side line 318 and counting here in the third Florence down by three Jimmy's athleticism is really shown on the field especially out in open space he generally always makes a man miss or that defender is way behind him as he's catching the ball McDonnell in to the wide side to the left Heinz is still the tailback Davis shotgun formation all the way looks to throw the quick out here and almost intercepted oh that one would have been six the other way it was read perfectly but thank goodness he dropped it that would have been a back breaker right there we were complimenting him on the previous play but you cannot just whiff on a screen blocking assignment as a wide receiver Dixon was ready to go to the house on that one it'll bring up third and three the shifting and the stemming of the lineman has caused Florence a little trouble here late in the count play clock down to twelve two wide outs one to each side third and three now he'll shift back to the left look to throw the quick out complete got it to McDonald first down down the sideline stays in finals into the 50 and push far into sinister territory and finally the whistle blows at the 47 nice job by Florence right there they'll have it to get open he's a nice easy target there for Cade Cade hits him with the ball beautiful job and then after the catch making another man miss picking up extra yards I don't know if that was a read option or not but if it was a smart play by Davis right there Jeffrey Jones this is where you want to go down and make this a big time drive first and 10 at the 47 one back backfield play clock at six Davis gets the snap going to leave it with Hines off the left side got a little run rim cross the 45 down side to the 44 give him about three or four there he'll be pushed far to the 43 so about four yard gain we'll take four yards on first down Mike absolutely I'm I'm liking that call there just being able to keep things honest and really trying to reestablish the run here that's going to be important down the stretch Jeffrey Jones still got me down here yes sir I'm here let's talk about this offense right now the offensive line is going to have to play really smart going down the stretch here our running backs are going was McDonald again was it right yes Jimmy McDonald John I'm not sure how many receptions he's got in this game but there's a bunch he is being the go-to guy we'll get that in a few minutes I threw John a curveball my apologies I have him at seven catches for 108 yards so far under two to go here in the third Falcons now at the 36 have first and 10 Davis with wide receivers to each side the back is Heinz now Shepard will come at fullback going to the right side he will follow Shepard got a little running room to the 35 to the 30 down around the 29 give him about four five there that time with the Shepard leading helped a whole lot on that side right there Mike that was a big part of it right that right side was open there and we were able to get a nice gain there on first down once again Tavarius reader on that right side has played well as well clock did not run that last time by the way still 157 don't know it didn run that play still not running not sure why the clock is not running hey Kevin if you'll knock on the window I think you can get his attention I don't think I worn out from the last couple of plays but he decoyed down the other side of the field J-shot came out and he hit him beautifully with that pass for a first down McDonald go to the short side to the right side as the Falcons go towards the school board in the south end zone here at Brawley Stadium trailing 17-14 but have a good drive down to the 22 Hines is still the tailback on the first and 10 play Hines coming off the left side cuts back right Hines green grass out to the 20 trying to get away and knocked out of bounds and lose a yard he got shoved out he was trying to use the speed battle the linebacker who leads one of the leading tacklers in the state showed it right there why he come over made the play right he was able to try to bounce that play out to the outside it wasn't really happening and you know he was trying to beat the Senators to the sideline there couldn't get it just barely got it back to the line of scrimmage but that linebacker did a great play Pearson in the slot to the right McDonald wide right play clock at 10 play just coming in got sort of hurry here second down and 10 at the 22 five on the play clock Davis gets the snap going to run his running back to the left gets outside breaks one tackle can't break two or three though he can break a couple and gets down around the 22 ball came out Spartman's got it Senators come up with a ball is there a flag on the play yeah I'm almost positive there at the 27 yard line that was a beanbag beanbag is what they threw not a flag turn over Florence flag on the play flag waving it off the flag was on the ground it was he was trying to throw the beanbag and he threw the flag he grabbed the wrong thing he threw it it wasn't the same I got it the turnover hurts the Falcons give Spartman credit they hold on to the lead at three this battle continues with 1.19 to go and your defense now will have to come out one more time and try to get a stop against this really tough Spartman team kind of tired of saying gut check time boys I mean really and truly going to the well too many times given too many opportunities it's another turnover it's not good watch 11 17 14 the lead for Spartman now they have the ball with a minute 19 to go run the tail ball back to the left that's going to be lost and trying to use his speed outside he gets across to the 25 and gets to the 28 give him about seven they do a good job with their wide receivers blocking on the outside too and do that good job of stringing it out before you know it he's got six or seven yards 113 to go in the third Falcons trail by three two three wide outs to the right one to the left Bodner is out wide to the right the second down three play Lawson the big tailback stands behind Naylan the quarterback Naylan going to give it off inside to Lawson Lawson pushes forward he ain't going to get it this time he's going to be short by Jeffery I couldn't tell is that Joe Martin back in the game yes he is back in the game I think he just took a shot kind of a dead leg third and one with 52 seconds to go in the third third and one after 31 the Falcon crowd trying to give it a little lift here get the Falcon big blue band playing here in a minute they're going to try to make some noise you hear the Falcon crowd on their feet at Brawley trying to get a stop here trailing by three late in the third quarter nailing the quarterback gets the snap going to leave it with Lawson right up the middle got the first down and more across the 40 to the 45 he'd be in trouble now down to the 50 and knocked out of bounce at the 43 we come for the blitz that time we paid for the blitz and Lawson has a big run in Falcon territory to the 40 with 26 seconds to go in the third and it's 17-14 lead and the Senators knocking on the door first and 10 for the guys in white to be quite honest with you the Senators have really controlled the game in many ways throughout the game Florence has battled back but now Senators have a chance if they left nailing the quarterback and shot good formation with us to back Lawson Florence brings the blitz he tries to bounce it outside and he's not going anywhere that time the Falcons come up and make a play no game springs up second down and 10 good job by Zoe Martin on the outside to make that play Pearson cleaned it up as well and they may not snap it again as they walk towards the sideline and I think Ronnie Watson said let's go to the fourth quarter Florence down by three going to the fourth quarter have we heard that before in the past few weeks can the Falcons make a comeback one more time we're about to find out this is Falcon football we're back in one minute the voice of the Florence High School Falcons tied at 14 And the Dodgers and the Blue Jays tied at 2 Here at Brawley Stadium Florence trails 17-14 And Spartan will have the ball 2nd down and 10 at the Falcon 40 Nailing gets the snap but there was movement that time I think before And that's going to be 5 yards against Spartan And thank goodness the Falcons catch a break That's a big break Jeffrey Jones Every break we can get in this fourth quarter the Falcons need it The problem is when we get a big break like this they usually break one off for about 19 yards So we can use the room on defense but we're going to have to stay at them 2nd down and 15 Move back to the 45-yard line Lawson still the tailback 3 to the right side 1 to the left rolling right wants to throw Nailing looking stretching him out Now he's being stretched out now he's being hit now he's coming back the other way now he's in trouble gets away from one can't get away from two and he'll go down a loss of three Falcon defense strings him out and sacks him back at the 48 That's a team sack right there Mike That was a great job I don't know who was on the outside there but he blocked the sparkling guy right into the quarterback there it really caused a lot of problems for him and it strung that play out big time big loss there Great job by the That was Peters on the outside on the far side and brings up third and about 17 or 18 the Senators have to touch the 30 Hold your breath Falcons a little confused on defense right now too Five wideouts for Nalen the quarterback Falcons may heat him up Nalen look back to check Six on the play clock Nalen gets a snap straight drop looking to throw looking to throw looking to throw now he's rolling to the right now he's still looking to roll now here comes the pressure now he's in trouble now he's looking to roll out now he's going to try to run it now he steps out of bounds and the Falcon defense does a tremendous job great job by the Falcon D right there and they'll bring up fourth down and about 17 to go and I think it should be punting time for the Senators with 10 54 to go in the game and the Falcon D did their job Mike and we'll take it absolutely we'll take it it was a good job by the to really get off the field on third down which was huge Jay shot Pearson back deep at the 10 yard line this punter has been getting the ball off very slowly so looking for a block or something like that could possibly be as well Falcons almost jump they get it off punt will bounce around the 10 yard line and go out of bounds around the 15 yard line and that's where Florence have the first 10 at the 15 Kevin do the upbacks have to be set on that play they supposed to but none of them were they were all walking around that was very strange and lucky that they didn't get penalized on that play zo Martin a little slow so he comes off the field get him some water get him ready we may need him in a heavy package down by three with 10 minutes to go in the game basically 10 50 Falcons have left it it was great blocking good eyes for him to find that hole triplet will come and replace Hein who has been battling through some injuries and giving the Falcons a good lift second down and three to go Gouldsby wide right McDonnell wide to the left on the second down and three do you take a shot here John yes at the top of the screen with one on one coverage I do Falcons shift a little bit over that side we'll see what they do Davis going to leave it off side to triplet he got the runner rim to the 25 and push far he got the first down across the 25 to the 27 and that'll be enough to move the chains move with the 10 08 mark down by three triplet is such a good back when he just gets his pads down field sometimes I feel like he's thinking a little bit too much and trying to hit the perfect hole instead of just going down field just go make it happen McDonald will come out to the right side now to the short side of the field Goolsby will go out wide left Goolsby's got great speed too first and 10 play Davis going to run to the left side with his tail back triplet trying second down and 13 no no sense of urgency trying to find these holes that open up and just get down field you lost three there Hines will come back in replacing him we're under 10 to go in the game Florence down by three this Falcon team has had some miracle comebacks in the past couple weeks well not miracles but some great comebacks trailing going in the fourth quarter they trailed again tonight by three but the Spartan defense is a little different than we've seen they are really taking it to the Falcons second down we'll call it 12 to go at the 24 still getting the play and 10 on the clock 8 on the clock going after hurry 7 on the clock Davis may have trouble 5 4 Kenny Marson stands right by the official I think he's going to get the snap off Davis down the left sideline one on one McDonald's out there and couldn't get to it and that one was rushed a little bit right there because of the play getting laid in and couldn't get it out Pearson will come in after that long pass play 14 on the play clock four wide outs Pearson out wide to the left Goolsby in the slot over here to the right play just gets in with seven with six Davis has to hurry they'll bring the blitz back to pass has time steps up goes down the right side going for Goolsby out here double team and it's intercepted knocked that was a huge break there right at the 50 yard line and two Senators are down one for sure that was away from the play and that was friendly fire from the safety in the corner trying to make a play on that ball while they check the player let's take a time out Florence trail 17 14 8 45 to go we're back in 30 getting the kids to practice on time remembering if it's your day to bring snacks making it to the game with a clean jersey why are simple things sometimes so complicated thankfully with auto owners insurance doesn't have to be one of them auto owners works with independent agents who answer when you call so you can worry about more important things like whether your kid is going to run first or third base that simple human sense in Florence see Luke Brown at Henniger Johnson and Layton insurance call 256 764 8682 846 to go in the game and Florence trails Spartan 1714 in the game where if the Falcons could pull a comeback win would be the region champions but right now Spartan playing lights out Florence will have third and two and they'll go a heavy package Davis quarterback under center looks over the center defense I think is that so Martin still in there a little check zo's in there zo's at tailback on third and two here comes the blitz play action gave it off to Martin and Martin got the first down and more he'll get it all way down to the 40 yard line well I thought they might go play action there but instead it's going to move the chains at the 40 hey Jeffrey Jones that has worked well on the heavy package tonight that has worked well we've got a running back that can run behind his pads that normally plays linebacker no one wants tackling he's done a great job 8 minutes 30 seconds to go Florence at the 40 yard line down by three Hines will come back in the tailback Pearson wide right McDonnell wide left take a shot here with Pearson let's see if he gets one one on one Davis the quarterback gets the snap gets it off to his tailback Hines who cuts back this way found a little running room got it up to two or three yards around to the 43 yard line still pushing forward to about the 45 they'll give you about five on that makes me nervous because they've already stripped the ball a couple of times from Florence but we'll take five yards we certainly will and we're the beneficiary of the scrum this time last week we were losing a couple yards this time around we're gaining and the player is injured for Spartman he is down on the field while they check on him we remind you tonight the AHSAA scoreboard show following our broadcast from 10 to midnight and in the studios Blair Krieger will join James Moody as they give you scores and updates throughout the state of Alabama and especially here in the Scholes area 748 to go the injured defensive lineman limping off the field is Rashad Jones he's been really good for this senator team but he's having to be helped off the field it'll be second down and we'll call it four to go maybe five to go we'll go second down and five have to touch the 54 first down but more importantly the Falcons trail by three each team has three timeouts left can this Falcon offense make something happen Pearson wide right McDonnell wide left Hines is the tailback he'll stand in that pistol formation straight behind the quarterback in shotgun formation Davis against a five man front quick snap going to leave with Hines Hines going to break it outside got run rim to the 50 push forward and should have enough for the first down as he slung down there that'll be enough to move the change though as he touches the 50 yard line and that's another Falcon first down with seven and a half to go Hines is doing a great job of getting downfield being able to get his pads north south and just being able to attack this green space picking up that yardage for the first down is huge Jeffrey Jones the senator defense looks a little winded right now yeah I noticed that a couple plays ago they everybody will step out of bounds actually that's going to be trip gets out at the 47 he'll get about three you saw defenders coming again the injury might there might make him a little more careful about that I don't know why but he stepped out of bounds to bring up second down and seven make eight that looked very awkward instead of cutting it up field he just gave up on the play a little bit I guess it was a business decision didn't want to get hit there 657 to go clock stops as he stepped out of bounds second down at eight 17 on the play clock two to the short side of the field one back in the back field triplet is still in or is that Heinz still in we'll check that's right thank you very much that's Heinz Heinz in second down going to leave with Heinz off the left side cuts back against the grain broke a tackle and got to the 45 he won't quite get to 45 it'll bring up third down and six so two yards and two yards makes third and six Goolsby will check into the game I throw a little five yard hitch to number two right here I think they may be looking for it too though 540 to go looking for single looking for man coverage wide left will be McDonnell and Pearson wide right will be Goolsby Goolsby might be your guy over here to the right we'll see four man front play clock 10 Davis gets the snap looks left nowhere to go throws the swing pass caught it got it to the 45 to the 40 to the 35 and first down what a play by Davis let's check on him make sure he's okay because battle lit him up but Hines was out of the backfield and what a job by Davis there what a job by Davis to be able to get to that check down really quick he he had to bail on that play quickly because he was already getting hit to be able to chuck the ball up there as Hines was able to grab the ball and grab a first down big play there by the Falcons biggest one of the biggest of the night for sure we're under six minutes to go in the game Florence has it first and ten at the center 34 yard line one wide out right one to the left Pearson wide left McDonnell rolling to the right side going to give it to his back good blocking up front got to the 30 stays on his feet push forward and knock down at the 27 give him about seven right there that's Triplett coming in and that was a better run by Kalen Triplett yeah it was a good job by Triplett to be able to get north-south and be able to hit that hole hard right behind Reeder Reeder opened it up nicely and Triplett just followed him for a nice game second down and four to go at the 28 yard line it's been a well well not a well-played game by either team really but it's been a hard-fought game by both teams they know what's at stake when the Falcons snap this one will be under five minutes to go from the right hash going to the right end zone back to pass Davis looks those quick got it to McDonald to the 25 to the 20 got the first down stays on his feet goes down to the 15 and finally knocked out of bounds Jimmy McDonald putting on a show first down for the Falcons they're knocking on the door gotta close this one out that's a nice little bubble screen there run by the Falcons Jimmy came in found that little tunnel he ran through and got a nice first down time out on the field taken by the Senators we'll do the same Florence down by three but knocking on the door we're back in 30 it's football time in Alabama the players are hitting the field the cheerleaders are firing up the crowd the drum majors striking up the band and we all stand to the national anthem this is Congressman Robert Adderholt while you cheer your favorite team this season I'll be on President Trump's team shaking things up in Washington when we stand on conservative principles it's a win for everyone I'm Robert Adderholt and I approve this message paid for by Adderholt for Congress Raleigh Stadium has seen some good ones this season they're seeing another one right now Florence knocking on the door trailing though by three they are in field goal range at the 15 yard line they'll have it first and 10 on the right hash going to the north end zone McDonnell wide left the back is Heinz I believe is that right or is that triplet I can't tell four that's triplet in the backfield now McDonnell to the right actually checking to play as Davis the first and 10 play may throw the fade to the right let's see nope going to give it offside got a run to the 10 inside the 10 down to the 8 maybe even to the 7 triplet swings forward and he's down and he's down but he's down for a first 7 yard game and he's going to be slow getting up and the Falcons are going to go heavy package and triplet will slow to get up will come off under zone power second down and three heavy package here Zoe Martin in the game at tailback well let's see we just worked some let's see if it can work again quick snap give it off to Zoe he finds running around across the 5 down to the 4 he has a first down Jeffrey Jones right at the 4 yard line that's enough to move the change correct yes it is should be a first down with the spot yep 418 first and goal on the 3rd 418 to go in the game Florence down by 3 and the Falcon crowd on their feet cheering on the boys in blue it's not over trust me a lot of football left to play in this game especially with this Spartan team but it's got to you got to get in the end zone here Kenny Marson milking the clock a little bit it'll go under 4 minutes Davis will go under center Martin still the tailback I said going to leave with Martin off the right side bounces out into the end zone touchdown Florence and Florence takes the lead Zoe Martin the senior says give me the rock and I'll put it in the end zone great job there by the Falcons great methodical drive being able to establish the run and really wear out this Spartan defense down the stretch I mean there's there's 350 to go this one is not over yet however the Falcons did a great job to take the lead this extra point may be the biggest one of the year for Charlie Graves Davis to hold hand back to snap everything perfect so far kick on the way everything still perfect it's good Florence leads it 21-17 last drive John McDaniel Kevin it was a 15 play it covered 85 total yards 6 minutes 59 seconds of time of possession and Zoe Martin finished it off with a touchdown run Greenhaugh to boot it away gets a high good kick tough returner back there taking at the 7 coming back to this left side trying to use the speed trying to find a lane and he's hit from behind and knocked down around the 25 yard line if they'll blow the whistle there and the Senators will have to go 75 yards in 340 to try to win this one they are explosive on offense they have great receivers Florence playing without one of their best defensive backs can the Falcons hold on this crowd will be a major factor in this maybe in this last 3 minutes they will be loud and proud Fuqua in at safety along with Sistram Pearson will be one corner the other one will be Jones they're going to hand it off the left side trying to bounce it he's in trouble he goes down all the way back at the 20 slung down by a host of Falcons he'll lose 5 yards Jaden White and friends it was about 5 of them and they said no no no not on that that's going to bring up 2nd down and 15 tick tick tick the clock runs 2 timeouts left for the Senators hang on Falcon fans buckle up here we go an explosive Senators team they can attack at any time you got to know it nailing the quarterback has 2nd down and 15 they have to actually 16 they have to get to the 36th Blake Lock at 12 empty set straight drop looks left now looks right they've got him controlled he's going to try to roll out to the right now he throws on the run down the sideline got a man out there Bodner catches it midfield first down he did not catch it oh man tipped off his hands the Falcons were off sides on that play it's against them it is against the Senators yes and we're declining it oh my goodness a lot happened there penalty against the Senators I thought Bodner caught it I was watching his feet but he couldn't bring the pass in it tipped right off his hands it'll bring third and 16 253 to go not over yet a lot of football to be played Falcon fans get on your feet these boys deserve it they're up by four but they're going to have to hang on because it's an explosive team listen to the crowd at Brawley welcome to high school football 7A style oh baby it's just fun 15 on the play clock this place is rocking four wide outs for Naylan Naylan going to roll to the right look to pass across the middle wide open complete at the 33 to the 35 and got the first down at the 40 they run their own RPO and they caught Bodner coming across on the slant run a little bit of a Florence play right there and it works good open field tackle there by Jay Shaw Pearson otherwise we have a different story to tell Senators want to go fast they give it to their back Lawson he's trying to bounce outside he's trying to outrush the Falcon he's being chased he's being caught but he'll get about four or five before going out of bounds at the 46 give him on their heels third and long they come up with a miraculous play that was a great play call we've got to keep 11 in check 11 is where they're going to go when the game is on the line we know that second down and four Lawson is the tailback two wide outs to each side no where 11 is Bodner has been unbelievable Naylan the quarterback has been unbelievable can the Falcon defense make a play man in motion to the left Naylan looks to give it inside and he does got the first down across the 50 is lost and it spins forward to the 40 breaks the tackle to the 30 he may go to the 15 to the 10 and he's knocked down at the 12 with 220 to go Falcons couldn't bring him down and now the Senators have it with 220 to go knocking on the door down by four and now you've got to think about your timeouts Mike if you're Kenny Morrison to save time right you don't want to bring those things home you want to be able to use them strategically the Spartan Senators are going to start milking this clock they're wanting to take this one in with less than a minute to go the Falcon fans doing all they can under two minutes to go when they'll snap this one they're going to run it down to about a 150 before they snap it first and ten four of the Senators they're still trying to get the play in now Nalen gets back in shotgun formation leaves it with his tailback up the middle and he's hit right at the line of scrimmage at the 10 who get about two 143 to go and Kenny Marson doesn't use the time out here 137 136 not yet gonna hold it in the pocket again 130 he's got three second down and eight come on defense and give Lawrence the man emotion they pitch it to him trying to get outside is Davis trying to use the block he got to the five spins forward around the four on one 13 to go and the clock continues to tick third down and two coach is gonna play it out Kevin I know you got a player down why are we not good grief players down on the far side is that a senator down is a senator down now I don't know if the clock will start back or not after this it will they can run it all way down a little more it's what 58 seconds on the clock is that right 59 something like that correct 59 so the Senators player injured this gives the Falcon defense a breather this Falcon defense has been outstanding but right now the Senators have them they have the momentum they're down before but they're on the door at the four yard line Nalen is a great quarterback he can't run it much you gotta keep an eye on him always Lawson still the tailback the Falcon fans doing all they can with 59 seconds to go the clock will run gets the snap leave it off with his tailback up the middle he's in the end zone touchdown with 52 on the clock Spartman takes the lead 23 21 and that might do it the Senators have come to Brawley and answered every call of the Falcons Gomez to go miss the holder is fodder high snap gets the kick down and the kick is up and the kick is good new score Spartman 24 Florence 21 52 seconds to go this is Falcon football we're back in 30 this is Miranda Haddock with the Florence Education Foundation we would like to extend an invitation to our 8th annual Shoals Also Showdown on Back at Brawley Seesaw affair and right now the Seesaw is not good for Florence they trail it 24-21 that last drive John 248 off the clock 8 plays 74 yards total and finished off with a 2 yard touchdown run Lawson gets in the end zone Gomez has been kicking it off short around the 30 yard line so the Falcons got to have some guys deep he may try to kick this one deep you can't stay up there at the 20 you're going to have to go back and get the ball I don't like where the Falcons are they're going to have to scoot back a little bit I think he's going to kick it deep they need to scoot back this is he's not going to kick it short this time he's going to kick it as far as he can approaches the ball nope chips it away Falcons have to go back and get it and Tripple had to take it at the 9 Tripple up the field looking for running room he's in trouble at the 20 hit down at the 22 with 45 seconds to go 46 seconds to go in the game Falcons have to go 80 yards for a touchdown and a win they have to go about maybe 50 yards to have a chance for a field goal with 3 timeouts and 45 seconds to go 46 seconds to go on the clock Davis and McDonald have been hooking up tonight but you know they know they're going to throw the ball now you got to protect Davis too they're going to be bringing the blitz Kevin I'd like to see some like you said they're bringing the blitz let's get some crossing patterns and maybe cause a little confusion they show a 3 man 4 man rush here they come with the blitz straight up the middle picked it up throws down the right sideline trying to run out there for Pearson and Pearson almost got it but he couldn't get it he got hit before that ball got there too by not one but two guys 40 on the clock at the 42 yard line incomplete second down and 10 well guys I will tell you this we've run the quick stop and go a couple of times this might be where you do the old hooking ladder remember we ran it earlier in the year one time do you see if you do that is that in game 1 Kevin yep Goalsby will come wide to the right along with Martin playcock at 10 second down and 10 you know the Senators are going to bring a blitz here they come Falcons pick them up though the quick screen got it completed at 25 down the sideline and stepped out of bounds around the 29 he'll be short of the first down it'll bring up third down and one with 33 seconds to go three timeouts still for Florence with 33 seconds to go got to get the first down that's first and foremost so you can throw it across the middle with timeouts they've worked the sideline because Senators are really taking the middle of the field away a lot with their defense the way they've played third and one Heinz is the tailback Davis straight drop throws the quick out and complete and got the first down right at the 37 yard line with 31 seconds we'll take two seconds off the clock on that one anytime Mike yeah absolutely that was that was a that was a nice pitching catch there Jimmy McDonnell once again and Cade just delivering a nice ball nice timing play McDonnell and Pearson wide to the wide side on the right side here two wide outs left with 31 seconds to go straight drop blitz coming Falcons pick it up throws deep across the middle and McDonnell couldn't get it that time they did he caught it it'll be short at the 45 yard line with 23 seconds to go the timeout taking McKinney Morrison his first time out Jeffrey Jones you're at the 45 I would say to give Florence an actual chance for a field goal you'd have to get it to the 25 yeah 25 or closer would be even better but you know I think now it's the time to drop one of those those hook and ladder you know we got to rip one downfield yeah take a shot right now see what we can do I've seen Jimmy McDonald has consistently beat his guy they're going to double team him though on this side they know it's coming I think they do and I think that's where you might have a Goolsby or somebody like that to go up the middle or up the seam somebody else to come down there John you were talking about you were even showing that to me right there maybe come with somebody they're playing a two high safety so a quarterback would call it middle field open and that's where the gap is right now they're playing those two highs you run a guy deep and occupy one and come behind him and you should have an open space second down and one but the clock is the big enemy 23 seconds to go Kenny Morrison asking for time on the clock couldn't get it he's still out there on the field complaining about it it's worth the official so Florence will have it first second down to go at the 45 two wide outs to each side Senators show blitz here they come Davis steps up throws deep down the left sideline got a man down there and it is going to be intercepted and knocked away nearly intercepted Kevin I think our receiver kind of bobbled it it might have been close but he couldn't bring it in with 17 seconds to go on the far sideline six seconds ran off the clock and it brings up second down or third down and one now you've got to get the first down too so you've got to think about that they're running the two high safeties they're not going to let anything get over you 17 on the clock Goolsby will come wide to the left trips to the right side Davis straight drop looking steps in the pocket deep down the middle and it's going to be intercepted this time and the Senators are going to win it they intercepted they're going to take it down the sideline with about six seconds to go and finally knocked down and the Senators have come over to Florence and knocked off the Falcons to put this region in a topsy-turvy everyone else in the region celebrating and Spartan celebrating across the way and tip of the hat to them they've come over here and did what they were supposed to do Mike we got we got helmets we got people we got people all over the place no flag there we go there's a flag but too little too late we had to have the field covered in Spartan players six seconds to go and Spartan with a 24-21 lead and all they have to do is take a knee went for it deep down the middle of the field his arm got hit on that play he was getting hit as he couldn't follow through that ball went weakly through the air that wasn't a cade throw that we're used to seeing so he got hit as that ball was delivered it floated up there and was able to be intercepted well the Falcons will drop to 4-2 in region play as will pretty much three other teams James Clemens Austin are 5-2 in region play and Spartan will all end at 5-2 and get ready for all the tiebreakers to find out what's going to happen now because next week's game at Oxford will be a factor Jeffrey Jones showing a lot of class out there Jeffrey Jones on the sideline that's a tough tough break but a hard-fought game we gave it all we had it just wasn't our night we knew it before the halftime before halftime it just wasn't our night and when they came out from the get-go I was like these guys aren't going to go away they're going to give us all we had and they absolutely did it senators will just have to take one snap in the knee we've got to keep our composure during the handshake I'm sure we will so it'll be first and go or first and ten one snap and the senators and everyone else timeout taken by Kenny Marson and that's a smart timeout by a veteran coach and that's exactly what he's talking about he just wants his team to say hey look we fought hard we're going to we're going to play with class we're going to end this with class I like the timeout by Kenny Marson once again understanding the culture of showing his team and knowing that would be an important thing to do they played the spoiler tonight did a great job of it too they really did they came in here nothing to lose and you could sense it in the first quarter you knew we were in trouble tied at seven as they scored at the end of the first quarter and at the half they led it by three and they're going to end the game leading by three and this Florence team who had several comebacks in the fourth quarter couldn't pull one off here tonight so the Senators all they got to do is take a knee but I do like Coach Kenny Marson out there with his team just tell them hey we got to have you next week all hands on deck because that game against Oxford is a huge game for Florence now Florence has already secured a playoff berth as will Spartman now as will Austin and as will James Clemens that they both won tonight and I think they did and there's some debate about what all the playoff tiebreakers are so I won't go into them tonight I'll just say a win by Florence over Oxford could be big Thursday night on the road Nailing gets a snap takes the knee Florence did not rush and that'll run the clock out go down that'll run the clock out and that'll do it so Florence falls to Spartman by a score of 24 to 21 this is Falcon locations today or visit our website at treehousedentist.com we're so excited to see you soon at Treehouse Children's Dentistry a branch of Singing River Dentistry back at Brawley Stadium not good news for the Falcons they had a chance to put it away but give the Senators credit the Senators come and the Senators do a great job as they come and they knock off the Falcons by a score of 24 to 21 here at Brawley Stadium and a tough time for the Falcons not to lose this one so the Falcons lose it 24-21 here on the road I mean at home tonight the Senators made play after play when they needed to and give them a tip of the hat they made the big plays down the stretch when they needed it most as they get the victory here at Brawley Stadium and first time in 14 years that they have knocked off Lawrence and of all times not the time you won it as you're a Falcon but it doesn't mean it's the end of the season it doesn't mean it's the end of the playoffs and it doesn't mean it doesn't mean that you don't get a home field advantage there's still a lot to play for a lot to happen you're just going to have to do it the hard way now I think a victory over Oxford would be huge so we'll see how that comes Thursday night but a tough one here tonight against a really good Spartan team and a tough loss for this team from Florence tonight against a really good Senator team who did their job Jeffrey Jones you may not have him yet just let me know if you get him and just interrupt me and that'll be fine Mike just one of those games where you can sense it wasn't Florence's best night no it definitely wasn't Florence's best night they didn't execute the way they could and should and you know they turned it on a little bit too late they were playing well down the stretch it was mostly but both teams both defenses were worn out at that point so it was just going to be a shootout I think going forward the defenses really were struggling in that late third and early fourth quarter but it was it was sloppy go around that first three quarters and you know if Sparkman's winning an ugly game I mean that's that's the way they want to have it you know they did a good job they executed better than Florence did and you know what they came away the victor tonight and so we played that game 100 times did they win did they win 99 times no you know Florence Florence usually takes that one they didn't play their best game let's send it down to Jeffrey Jones with Coach Kenny Morrison Coach Coach tough game tonight we gave it all we had just wasn't our night tough game tonight just wasn't our night no hey listen hats off to Sparkman they had the ball last it was a back and forth the entire night and they they drove the thing 75 yards heck of a job by them we played our guts out they made one more play than we did you know nothing nothing is negative about this bunch right here we fought is what it is we're going to keep moving we've got Oxford next week it's a four way tie for first it's still a lot on the line lots of emotion from your players after the game as it should be that's the kind of I think that's a good sign going forward that we expect to win it hurts when we don't win right it's supposed to hurt we just got to make sure that we're handling things the right way win or lose you know we're going to handle it with class we're going to show a lot of character out there and you know hugged up with some guys over here I'm hurting for them really bad these guys are upset and this staff is hurting for them and we're going to bounce back it's a great group of young men they will not be defined by this game long road trip next week winnable you know we can go down there and win and it's important to win right oh no doubt we're going to bounce back we're going to play hard and we're going to see what happens tiebreakers are on the line there's a good shot that we go down there and win we're playing at home still in the playoffs and you know who knows with all the stuff that's there don't know anything about a region title right now but we know that we got to play to get back home in the playoffs go be with your team coach thank you coach tough news for the Falcons on this Friday night they fall to Spartan 24-21 the Senators will end their regular season at 5-5 and await their playoff berth where they will go meanwhile the Falcons tonight we'll go to 5-4 and have a Thursday night battle on the road at Oxford and that's a non-region game that's a huge game now we'll talk about that in a few minutes but first let's get our final stats from Chick-fil-A and our good friend John McDaniel take it away all right Kevin thank you let's start the Senators tonight for the game 406 yards of offense they had 42 rushes for 208 yards they had 10 completions on 17 attempts 198 yards passing 21st downs on the game 7 for 11 on 3rd down conversions and no 4th down attempts 9 penalties for 92 yards 3 turnovers 3 for 3 on the PAT attempts time of possession tonight 22 minutes and 58 seconds the Falcons tonight 312 yards of offense 36 rushes for 156 yards 14 completions on 23 attempts for 156 yards 22 first downs tonight 5 for 11 on 3rd down conversion attempts no 4th down attempts tonight we had 8 penalties for 53 yards total for 53 yards total 3 turnovers ourself including that last interception PATs were 3 for 3 the time of possession we did win that battle 25 minutes and 2 seconds Cade Davis our leading passer he was 14 for 23 for 174 yards tonight Elijah Hines he 12 carries 51 yards Zoe Marten Zoe Marten Zoe Marten 7 carries 7 carries 43 yards 3 touchdowns Jimmy McDonald he had 10 catches tonight for 135 yards the Falcons the Falcons the Falcons the Falcons got on the scoreboard first in the first quarter with a touchdown with 23 to go it was Martin from 24 yards out Zoe Marten gets the first of three touchdowns Charlie Grace first of three extra points makes it 7-0 but the Senators answered back with a quick drive down the field on the last play of the quarter untimed down they get a one yard score from Lawson P.A. T. Good and we were tied at 7 at the end of 1 the Falcons then found themselves scoreless in the second quarter and the Senators catch a break late they get the ball and they drive it down in about 2-12 to go left in the first half drive down and get a 22 yard field goal from Gomez 10-7 was the score then that was an 8 play 24 yard drive that went down with the last 2 minutes and Gomez gets the 3 pointer then Florence came out in the third quarter answered back took the lead with a 21 yard touchdown run from Zoe Martin 5-50 to go Florence goes up 14-10 to complete a 5 play 62 yard drive Sparkman in the seesaw fair answered right back with 3-44 to go Marbury from 17 yards out completes an 8 play 80 yard drive and the Senators would not go away to that at 17-14 in the fourth quarter late it looked like Florence might have put it away Zoe Martin scored from 3 yards out to complete a 15 play drive to take the lead 21-17 but too much time left on the clock 350 was on the clock and the Falcons could not hold the Senators out and it ended with a loss and 2 yard touchdown with just under a minute to go Falcons had the ball got it to about 40 yard line but could not complete it and when Davis got hit and the pass was fluttering and it was intercepted by the Senators and the Senators will fly home happy tonight they win it 24-21 and you know when you look at the playoff thing there's a lot of different discretion so I can't say this is for sure I'll give you what I've been told what would happen to all four teams of James Clemens Austin, Florence and Spartman all will have the same record at 5-2 a four-way tie so if Austin wins out they right now are in the lead in first place because they have one victory over Decatur earlier in the year if they were to win out over Muscle Shoals they would win the region they have Muscle Shoals next week in a non-region game if they lose and James Clemens wins over Homewood James Clemens would win the region if both James Clemens and Austin lose next week and Florence wins on Thursday night Florence would be the region champion if all three lose then Austin would be the region champion Spartman cannot be the region champion because they have not won a non-region game so that's the way I think it's going to play out how it would be you got to pull for the Falcons pull against the other teams to lose and let the chips fall where they may you're either going to be at home in two weeks or you're going to be down in Mobile somewhere in two weeks we're hoping it'll be here at Florence, Alabama but they're going to have to take care of business at Oxford or if not they will for sure be on the road most likely coming up in two weeks let's get our final thoughts from tonight's game Mike Albertson I'm going to let you start wasn't the night we wanted for the Florence Falcons it definitely wasn't they started out flat they didn't really play well in that first half but when we look up they were only down three so being able to take the lead later on in that third quarter and be able to control a little bit in that fourth Sparkman battled back the defenses were gassed and it was one of those situations where whoever makes one extra play will win and Sparkman did that tonight did Florence play their best absolutely not we know there's some left in the tank but we're going to have to show it next week we're going to have to play a really good really tough team on the road on a Thursday night it's going to be a weird week with it being Halloween and everything so throw everything out the window that we know about any of these teams we're going to have to battle you're rooting for Muscle Shoals and you're rooting for Homewood if you think the Falcons got to come away with the victory first so at the end of the day it's a weird wild world the region title is still in our hands but kind of out of our hands the reality is that if we have an opportunity to improve this week with our health and with our team with our schemes getting guys some extra reps in some of those positions that might have some guys out it's going to be super important but the reality is whether or not we're hosting a game here at Browley or we're having to travel on the road we're going to have to play better if we're going to take out a team from that area from Mobile area it's really tough but the Falcons have really answered the call they've fought hard each and every time even when they don't have their best so there's my final thoughts go Falcons I like that alright JJ well I'm not wanting to make excuses but injuries did play a huge factor tonight so you made an excuse well yeah that's my excuse I'm sticking to it injuries played a factor when your best defensive player is out the one that pretty much calls the defense we didn't have a huge talent drop off as far as I'm concerned from that but it was the quarterback of the defense when you're missing the quarterback that's the big difference that's the huge difference now of course we know Walt Barrett's a great athlete phenomenal athlete and that sort of thing that was missed however what was really missed was his play calling making sure I was lined up correctly and all that they came and hit us in the mouth you know there's no doubt we did not adjust we did not adjust to number 11 I said it all night and I'll say it again that kid's not a phenomenal athlete he's kind of goofy to be honest with you but he made the plays you know now one thing that bothers me is you know but it's also a good thing it's the fact that the Spartan centers after this game they're acting like they won the Super Bowl you want teams like that when they knock us off to rush the field all their students rush the field they tried to plant a flag on the 50 you know our guys weren't having it it didn't get out of hand we showed a lot of class and a lot of restraint at the end they were you know and they should be I'm glad they were happy about winning like that it's a good thing for Florence to see that so we still got two games left no matter what happens in the region or whatever we've got two games to play and one of them we know is going to be on a long road trip the other one we're trying to avoid having that seven hour drive each way which oh man that's all I got that's good John yeah I think I want to echo a little bit of what both guys said we played hard and fought back in the second half I was proud to see that the guys came back out but you know you can't wait until the second half and just decide to show up against a team that's playing as hard as well as they did they kind of played like they didn't have anything to lose and they came out on fire and the Falcons did not show up until halftime really and that's what happens when you don't come ready to play you don't have a good week of practice you're not raring to go it's you get these type of results sometimes when you don't play your best and you know I think what jumped out to me even before Jeffrey talked about it was Walt Barrett is as key to this defense as anything obviously he's a terrific athlete he's going to be playing college football but he is the giant eraser for the Falcons defense and he was missed tonight hopefully he is well enough to play in the next week or two and but so the Falcons kind of see hey we're not we can't just show up and roll our helmets out we've got to have good weeks of practice get ready to go and have and be ready for Thursday night and I think coach Morrison will get them ready and look forward to seeing how they respond to a little adversity I know some people will say that the Florence Falcons might have got too hyped up tonight for this week a lot of people bragging on them for the big wins they've had you know I think it's high school football you should brag on this team they deserved they had made a great comeback and tonight they battled it was not their best game they battled tooth and nail with the Spartan team as you said played very loose tonight and a Spartan team that showed they have a lot of talent especially on offense and was flying around the ball on defense as well the Falcons did not have their A game at times didn't even have their B game but you look up with about two and a half minutes to go and you're leading so you had a chance but just couldn't pull it away and you know that's part of football it's high school football it's 16 and 17 and 18 year old kids a tip of the hat to the opponent I want to say a tip of the hat also to the Florence crowd the fans showed up they were big and loud and strong they really did everything they could to try to pull this Falcon team through tonight they wanted to see a victory it just didn't happen some nights it's not your night and it's been the Falcons night every break over the season seemed like it's gone Falcons way in the past four or five weeks tonight those breaks did not all fall with Florence's way several fell to the way of the team called the Spartan Senators so the Senators win that one tonight here at Brawley Stadium now the Falcons will go on the road Thursday night in a key key game against Oxford a win by Florence at Oxford gives us a really good chance at being number one or number two in the region a loss will mainly say you're most likely going on the road for the playoffs so it's a big game for Florence Thursday night on the road October 30th it'll be a cold night the Falcons will travel to see if the Falcons can go over there and get one from the Yellow Jackets we'll have that broadcast for you here on 93.9 the score well that's going to do it for us tonight don't forget the AHSA scoreboard show coming around the corner James Moody and our friends will be with them as well giving you updates throughout the night on that one as well I want to give a quick shout thank you for the thank you for being our sponsors to allow you to hear
