[0:00] Now, get ready to roll, Shoals, Decatur, Athens, and all of Northwest Alabama and Southern Tennessee. It's time for the Valley's exclusive FM Sports Voice. The Boomo Bugg Show. New exclusive inside track to the Tigers, Tennessee and the rest of the SEC. Now, your host, Harold Bugg on 93.9. The Score. Good afternoon and welcome here to the Boomo Bugg Show. I'm Harold Bugg alongside Brett Beaird. Thank you so much for giving us free ride around the Tennessee Valley. Brett Beaird, welcome in to the proverbial good, bad, and ugly Monday after. Good afternoon. Welcome in to you and have you and your family gone shopping for real estate in Tallahassee yet? How are you?

Happy Reaction Monday. Yes, you're alluding to Florida State coach Mike Dorvell fired after seven seasons with the Seminoles and also Oklahoma offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle was let go today. So, again, it's that time of the year. We'll preview separation Saturday in a huge slate of top 25 matchups in college football. But Adam is here right now to recap another SEC football weekend. Adam is Adam Spencer. He is the man at a place called Saturday Down South. Adam, welcome in to November. How are you? I'm doing great, guys. How are you?

I tell you what, if this last weekend is any indication, what is this weekend going to be? Adam, help us figure out this thing called college football as we get ready for the first and really and truly only meaningful poll coming up tomorrow night. Yeah, I mean, when the slate doesn't look great, you know that that's a sign that there's going to be some chaos. You know, I was writing about that. I didn't know where it was coming from, but yeah, we've got plenty of it once again.

I mean, you know, you can't be too surprised that Ohio State lost without Julian saying, but, you know, we can ride you there. I think we're going to see a lot of these teams that have coaches in years four and five and whatever being let go as we move forward, because, I mean, you just look at how quickly Kurt Signetti turned around Indiana. You look at how quickly Bob Chesney and Will Stein have turned around UCLA and Kentucky in just year one on the, like, hitting the ground running there.

So, you know, there's proof of concept that, you know, if Will Stein can go seven and one in his first eight games to a place like Kentucky, if Bob Chesney can go eight and oh, in his first eight games at UCLA, then it's like, okay, like, you've got to hire the right guy. And I think we're going to see even less patience than we normally do. And that's not a lot when it comes to college football. So who's the right guy to go into FSU? I call him the, yeah, he should be an extra Andy Griffin.

Jimbo Fisher likes to come across as, golly gee, I'm just a good old boy. I asked Bobby Bowden and some other folks about Jimbo, but your thoughts about who fills those shoes at FSU? Yeah, I mean, I don't know that this would be a year that I would want to be making a coaching hire because, I mean, I think that there's not really a ton of these hot shot candidates. You know, I wonder if they'll take a run at the guy at Oklahoma State, but, you know, he just got there and he's got ties to that area.

You know, Glenn Schumann is the name that always comes up, you know, Buster Faulkner, you know, those guys are always in the mix. But, yeah, I just, I don't know that I would want to, to be in the coaching market this cycle. And, you know, I'm sure Deion Sanders' name will be bandied about a little bit, but the shine has kind of been lost there, too. So, you know, we'll see how it goes. But, yeah, that's definitely one to keep an eye on. Adam, before we get into some of the big games this weekend, let's recap last week.

Florida averaged 53 points in their first four games. The last four games, they've scored 17.8. They didn't do a very good job of that against Georgia. Four turnovers that really did not give themselves a chance. And, of course, Georgia took advantage, winning 27-8. And then Ole Miss, Auburn's literally going for a two-point conversion midway through the third quarter to tie the game. They did not convert. And then Ole Miss goes on the run, led by Trinidad Chambliss, 28-0. Ended up beating Auburn 45-15. Yeah, that Georgia game, I mean, it's just a bad time to catch Georgia.

You know, they lost right before the bye week. And then they had the off week. And I'm sure that that was not any fun for anybody on that Georgia football program. So, yeah, they were coming out angry and motivated. And, you know, they still have the pole position in the SEC. So, you know, I think that they want to, you know, keep that going. And I think that that was just a bad spot for Florida. But, yeah, if they're not going to take care of the ball, then that hot start is just going to seem more and more like a fever dream.

[5:26] And, you know, they don't even have the, you know, Mississippi State. You know, they were the story of September. But there's a player as special as Kamario Taylor. I mean, you can't be blamed for, you know, falling the way that they have. So, that's just a bummer there. Florida has the talent. They're just not executing right now. So, that's what the difference is there, in my opinion. And the book is out on the new ball on the block as well. Adam Spencer, Saturday down south. Adam, obviously, this weekend, it's going to be one for the nerves.

I don't care what fan base you are. Let's talk about Alabama and LSU. You look at this game and on paper, show me where Alabama has the edge on LSU. Offense, defense, it's not, you know, normally you get in these matchups and years past, one will be four and one will be five as far as position rankings. This year, you look at some of this, I don't care if it's offense or defense, and the gap between Alabama and LSU is, as one party says, as wide as the Gulf of Mexico.

The other party says, as wide as the Gulf of America. Vegas opened up originally at four LSU. It moved to five. It's now five and a half. Vegas is not buying Bama. Talk to Bama fans and tell them, yes, don't pay any attention to that. There's still hope. Yeah, I mean, I think it's pretty close with the quarterback battle there, you know, so that's something positive. I mean, these are two very talented quarterbacks, and I think that if Ryan Coleman Williams, I don't know if they've made any updates on if he's going to play or not, but if he can play, then I think that they have the edge at wide receiver, too.

So, I mean, that's something. This running game has not been good. It's been slightly better, I guess, than last year, but, you know, it's tough to be that bad again. So, yeah, I mean, I think that this is a bad matchup, and they have to go down to Baton Rouge. I mean, I guess the good thing you could say is that it's not a night game, which has LSU fans all riled up. But, yeah, I think that that's maybe the one positive that you could point to is that they won't have to deal with quite as drunk LSU fans.

Oh, they'll still be there. They'll still tailgate, and they'll get plenty of alcohol in their system before kickoff. But, yeah, maybe not quite the same intense level of energy as a night game in Death Valley. And one of the other games, big games this weekend in the SEC, we just alluded to two of the teams. Georgia at Ole Miss, Georgia a three-and-a-point favorite. Trinidad Chambliss showed in the second half why he is still a Heisman Trophy candidate. 22 of 34, 263. Ole Miss also ran for 224 yards in the game.

Should be a very intriguing game in Oxford. Yeah, I think that this is going to be a tough one. You know, I think Trinidad Chambliss needs to put together four good quarters. You know, he's gotten off to slow starts in his past couple games here. So he needs to be, you know, ready to play because you can't give Georgia any freebies early because once they go ahead, I mean, they are built to just grind out the second half. And you've got to stay competitive with them throughout the game so they can't just go on cruise control and ground and pound you to death.

So he's going to have to be his second-half self for the whole game. And, yeah, I mean, the running game, I mean, that was quite the performance against Auburn, but Georgia's run defense is better. So, you know, they're going to have their work cut out for them. But if they can even make it, you know, a viable option, then that opens up more stuff for Trinidad Chambliss to shine. So, you know, I think that maybe Chambliss needs to get out of the pocket a little bit and, you know, have some run-pass options and maybe use his legs a little bit more than we've seen him at points this year.

Adam, did you come up with a menu this weekend for SEC football fans? I'll tell you what. I can't remember one where you take a piece of paper and that's about the margin between a lot of these teams. Your thoughts about your home cooking this weekend with Teos. Texas comes to town. No pressure there for Sark and Arch. Your thoughts about Missouri and Texas this weekend. Yeah, I mean, Mizzou's been tough to beat for O'Field. They're undefeated there. So, you know, I'm hoping that that trend continues.

This was a very important week. I wrote about last Thursday that, you know, it seemed like the Arkansas game was a must-win for the Tigers. So now, you know, now they've got their sixth win because they have a tough stretch coming up. They've, you know, they've got Texas. They've got Georgia. They've still got, you know, Oklahoma and Kentucky. Yeah, so that's, you know, maybe Oklahoma is a little bit easier than it appeared preseason. But, yeah, that's still a murderer's row there. And so, you know, I think that they can beat Texas.

I mean, getting Ahmad Hardy back last week was nice to see. You know, he's not going to be at his 2020, 2025 self next week. But if he can work a little bit more into the offense, I mean, Jamal Roberts, that's a heck of a one-two tandem there. And Austin Simmons, if he can continue to be the better quarterback, he's been better than Arch Manning this year. If he could be better again at home, I mean, the defense can do enough. And, you know, I think that this is going to be a close game, but it's going to be exciting.

[10:39] And it's one that might be a little slept on in this loaded slate of games. Adam Kent, Kentucky keep their magical run going, going to Knoxville. Kent 71, Tennessee 6-2. They've done so well as far as they're plus 13 in turnover margin. But they've got a tough stretch coming up. Tennessee, Florida, Missouri. Tennessee still got one of the best defenses, of course, in the country, averaging 4.4 sacks per game. Mincy has been magical. Quite frankly, he only has one interception the entire year. Can Kentucky keep it going in Knoxville?

Yeah, it's going to come down, you know, you said the plus 13 turnover margin. I mean, that's the key there. I mean, Jordan Castle on the back end of that defense has been a godsend for that secondary. If he can, you know, George McIntyre, you know, he's going to put a couple up for grabs. And if they bounce Kentucky's way, then that's the recipe for a road upset. And I think that, you know, we'll see if Mincy can continue to deliver. But I haven't seen, you know, he went into Norman a couple weeks ago and pulled out a win at Oklahoma, which, you know, we wouldn't have thought preseason.

But, yeah, he's been really good. If he can continue to not make mistakes, then Kentucky's going to have a chance. And as we've seen, when they're right there late, you know, Will Stein's not afraid to really go for the win instead of playing timid. So, you know, that's a very exciting game on the plate this weekend. Adam Spencer, Saturday down south. If you're one of those Auburn fans that says, I can't believe you guys. You knock off the number one team on the road, and then you make history.

The first team, I think, since 59, maybe ever, to beat the number one team at home on their field. And then the next two games, you get beat by 20-plus. This is the Auburn Tigers 26. The other side of that coin is, if you look at the schedule, there's a chance that this team is going to sit here and make progress. You've got Arkansas, then Mississippi State, then Sanford. In other words, you've got a chance to go on a three-game haul and then a rivalry game with a team called Alabama.

Your thoughts about the Auburn Tigers? Yeah, I mean, they just, you know, that Georgia game is looking like it was one of the flukiest games of the year. They're, you know, but, you know, like you said earlier, you know, they were going for two in that game in the third quarter against Ole Miss to tie it up and miss the play. So, I mean, you know, we're right there with this team. You know, they can compete. You know, they just haven't competed for four quarters. You know, that LSU game was a bit of a, you know, the hangover game we talked about a couple weeks ago.

So, I mean, I think that, you know, Auburn is going to be dangerous. Like, they should take care of business in these three games. And then, like you said, that Iron Bull, even though it's at Bryant-Denny this year, which is, you know, not in Auburn's favor there. They struggle mightily at Bryant-Denny. But, you know, anything can happen in the Iron Bull. And so, yeah, they build some momentum and they have a chance to enter that game playing some of their best football of the year. So, we'll see if they take advantage of it these next few weeks.

Well, South Carolina's playing its best football of the year, winning three-state. They beat a punchless Oklahoma 45-25. Illinois Sellers looks like he did two years ago when his name came up for a Heisman Trophy contender. Adam, a lot of great stuff going on. You've got the power rankings. I know Joe Cox, a good friend, will have his predictions for the season record previews. A lot of stuff going on on SDS this week. Where can we go online to get everything? We want to sit here and basically make sure that it's not going to be one of those shows that keeps teasing things and teasing things.

We respect your time, so let's just jump right in, baby, quickly. But the time's on Monday. The game times are announced for the following Saturday. This weekend's already in, so the following Saturday. Here's the bottom line. You better get up early if you want the Titan Tigers in your house. Auburn State. That's an 11 o'clock game on either ESPN or the Deuce, ESPN2. And then at 11.45, that second glamorous time, Alabama and Vanderbilt on the SEC network. Well, Harold, I saw the Alabama-Vanderbilt as far as the early slot back in May.

[21:13] So, I knew that was either going to be 11 or 11.45. I'm sure Auburn fans are saying, what in the world do we need to do to have a night game or the 2.30 game? Well, that's the W. That's the one thing that was probably TV loves ratings. They don't love a team over the money. They love their money, so there you have it. And now it's confirmed 11.45. I saw the Rumblings, but now it is the C word, confirmed. Matt St. Charles probably has to go to the eye doctor like I did this morning after this most recent trip on the road.

We'll explain in a second. Matt Koff follows UNA at the Times Daily. Matt, welcome in. Have you got your vision back from that carpet at Conway, Arkansas? How are you? I'm good, guys. That was definitely an ugly one on an ugly field. So, glad we got through that one. Did they buy that on the back rack at the Dollar Tree? I mean, you look at that rug, and it's like, Matt, what in the world? Who bought this stuff? That looked like my wardrobe. Yeah, there were times where I thought my TV was on black and white, but it was not.

Well, the carpet was ugly, and let's face it, Matt, the win was not exactly pretty, but when you go on the road and you win, and in effect make history, the first D1 win against Central Arkansas in UNA football history, where do you start breaking it down? I mean, there are two back-to-back drives there in the fourth quarter that you can start by breaking it down when, you know, Destin Wade fumbles on a drive where you have the opportunity to eat some clock and put the game away, and then for the second streak week, Xavier Johnson coughed the ball up on a big-time drive in the fourth quarter.

So, I mean, up 14-3, your defense is taking care of business. You know, that's a game that should never have really become a contest at all that, you know, UNA just kind of let them creep back into it, and week after week now, I've talked with Coach Dearman about kind of throwing that knockout blow, and they had a chance to do it again, get up, you know, 21-3 or something like that, and just did not take advantage of the opportunity. So, I think that's the biggest takeaway from this one.

Man, I would also guess that Coach Dearman's a little bit frustrated with this offense. It seems like they'll put one or two games together to where it seems to be humming, and then the next time, it's a couple of key turnovers. But the positive out of this game, and really for the entire season, is UNA's been able to win one-score games, just something they've not been able to do in Coach Dearman's era, but they've really been able to rectify that. They've got some tough games to go, but that's the difference many times in a winning season.

If you win three or four one-score games, you're going to have a winning season. Yeah, I do think there's some credibility to that. Before this season, I think Coach Dearman had only won one possession game in the previous three years, so it's definitely a big step forward. But I think you would like those one-score games to come against the top teams in the league, right? You'd like to win the one-score games against Austin T and Abilene Christian. You don't want to be in some knock-down, drag-out fights against EKU and Central Arkansas.

So I think that's kind of the next step. In all honesty, this is a group that's played to the level of its competition in every game. I think logic would tell you Austin T and Abilene were probably better than UNA, but they played well enough to give themselves a chance. And then Central Arkansas and EKU, in all honesty, should have been much more comfortable wins and UNA maybe stooped down to their level a little bit. So you'd definitely like to see a little more consistency. And I think one of the discouraging things is even in that Central Arkansas game, you saw the offense kind of come together there.

The two guys that caught touchdowns were K.J. Fields and Noah Gregg. You know, it wasn't the usual suspects that were putting points on the board. And for a moment there, you're like, man, if these two guys can combine with X. Johnson and Snap Reed and, you know, Destin Wade has four really good options at receiver and this defense keeps playing the way it does, like this team has a chance to be really good. And then the offense, you know, seemingly didn't come out of the locker room there in the second half.

Checking in with Matt St. Charles over the times, Dave. Let's talk about the next test. You talk about playing up or down the competition. What's going to be this weekend's game? The good news, UNA is back on the friendly confines of Bobby Wallace Field at Bank Independent Stadium. It's under the lights, a sixth kick with the West Florida. What happens there, Matt? I mean, West Florida is a very, very interesting group. About five years behind UNA, I guess, in sort of their transition to Division I.

[26:32] This is their first year, so ineligible. But, you know, for five weeks this season, they've been ranked in the top 25. But, you know, they beat a Southern Illinois team whose quarterback was hurt. They've, you know, destroyed Central Arkansas on the road. And that's their only win in the league. So, definitely some mixed results, I would say, from West Florida. But it's a team that's going to run the football. I've got a talented dual-threat quarterback. Sort of reminds me of Lamar Jackson a little bit. You'd like to make him throw the football more than run it.

But, you know, in terms of the United Athletic Conference, these would be sort of equally matched foes. And you've got to think the home field advantage will be big here for UNA. And, again, sort of a must-win game if they want to even nip the playoffs there at the end of the season. Yeah, you mentioned the defense. Dallas Johnson with the red zone interception in the third quarter. And how huge Raylan Sims literally forces a fumble at the, and I'm serious, the one-inch line. Inch line.

With inside two minutes to play in the game, which saved UNA. Listen, you cover high school, too, and you saw one of the best games of the year with Colbert County and Wilson. Wilson rallies with a 21-point fourth quarter to come back and beat Colbert County 34-33. Churchwell, the quarterback, had a good game. Found Lorenzo in pickings. Brody Shook had a 68-yard return. But that was nearly a miraculous comeback, 21-point fourth quarter for Wilson. Yeah, I'll be candid with you guys. I've seen some uncompetitive high school games this year.

And 28 seconds into that one, I thought I was in for another one. And in all honesty, I was for the first three quarters there, the 20-point game in the fourth. And then, you know, with seven minutes to go, Wilson just really, really started to execute. Ran the ball considerably well. And it's like Coach Trey Lane said, like, sometimes those skill guys get lost in the shuffle and kind of have to swallow their pride. And they really paid dividends there with the passing touchdowns that got them back into the game.

And then, you know, a kicking game that they missed a couple extra points in that one that put them in some weird spots. And then, the kid that was kicking the onside kicks was just on point. The first one, I thought, had a good chance for them to recover and didn't get it. But they got a stop and then pulled a perfect one out to get possession back. And then, the biggest call of the game is after they drove down for their last touchdown to go for two to win the game, I thought was a great call from Coach Lane that, you know, Colbert County is probably not a team you'd want to go to overtime with on the road.

So, just to take the lead there and then find a way to get a stop there at the very end, despite another bad onside kick that gave Colbert County a chance there in opponent territory. But, you know, Wilson found a way to win. Absolutely. Listen, you do a great job. A busy weekend when you cover high school football Friday in UNA on Saturday. First round of the playoffs, we'll be talking about that in more detail with Ben Thomas. Tomorrow, Muscle Shoals at Oxford, Pell City at Russellville, St. Clair County at Florence, Vinmont at Central Florence.

Yeah, all my stuff lives on timesdaily.com, and you can find me on social media at Matt underscore St. Charles. Home cooking this weekend. Keep the bags packed. Matt, in the meantime, thanks so much for your time today. Thanks, guys. Appreciate it. Thank you, Ben. You too. You too. Matt St. Charles, the Times Daily. Coming up, let's go to the max. It's on deck on the Boomo Bugg Show.

Stay with us. I've always felt that sports imitate life, and in both arenas, everyone loves a good comeback story. I sold my dynasty almost three years ago and have missed coming to the ballpark every day since. Once my old team dispersed and our fan base hinted about wanting to come back, we built a new stadium, made some calls to our old players, and signed some new ones off of waivers and trades. Midtown Meat House now has the finest team of butchers, caterers, and sandwich makers in the league, and we're playing to win.

Thank you for giving us a free ride around the Tennessee Valley and for the Maxster to take time out of his busy schedule.

Max Howell, former assistant coach for Ole Miss and Florida State. Let me read that again. Florida State. Max Howell, welcome in. How are you? One thing I can tell you, my name is not on the prospect list. Yeah. What do you mean, man? Come on and say, look. Well, they've already decided the coach just hasn't announced him yet. Jimbo Fisher's going to be the coach. Well, he's such a nice guy. Golly gee. He reminds me of a guy on Mayberry, doesn't he? You know what? They get a d*** out of what it is.

Florida State's not going to have to pay him anything for a while. That's the key to that. He's still drawing that check for me and him, see. He lives in Tallahassee. By the way. So, I mean, he's a natural. You know, I hope they murder him his recruiting is all I can say to you. Are there any rules to be broken now, Max, when it comes to recruiting? I didn't know there were any rules now. Well, they aren't really today, but they could make it retroactive how he got his quarterback.

Oh, no. I don't first-hand how that happens. I bet you do. Oh, my gosh. Well, I agree with you. I think it's one of those deals. He wants back in. He's got the itch. He's got the ego. And he can give them the Jumbo discount. Let's face it, Max, confirm for us. It's not Texas. It's not Oklahoma. They ain't got all the money in the world down there, do they? You know what, though? That's it. You're right. But here's what. When people make that comment to me, let's explore a little thing.

All the money and all the money and all the prospects that both those schools could get. The last time they've taken us to win a national championship, they have won in 20 years. Yeah. In 20 years, they've won one. A&M had won one since 1938. Wow. We were freshmen. I mean, I was just around at that time. I wasn't watching football, but I can recall it. But the bottom line is, they do less with more than anybody in the marketplace. And I'm telling you, the word's out already, they may be looking for another quarterback for next year.

That may be coming as a change at the top. I don't know anything about the inside story about that, but I picked it up talking to some friends of mine that were another SEC school, and the family's not happy with where the current quarterback is standing right now, his progression, getting ready for the NFL. I don't think the Texas fans are happy, by all means. So, I just think we're at a point now, we talk about it every week, guys. The game's changing right before our eyes, you know, in preparation for the field.

The game itself is as good as we've ever had, maybe better, because everybody, not everybody, but most people have equal talent now. And that makes the ball, you know, the part of the game I'd hate to be in, I'd hate to be a Vegas guy and have to write down the odds on every one of these ballgames. Somebody's not winning a lot of money, is all I can say, if they're using the old formula that they used to use. But my question, or my comment about all of this is, until they get some rules that are applicable to everybody, and they can be enforced, I think we're going to keep getting the mismatches, and we're going to keep getting the schools that's got the most money that's going to get the best players.

But just remember, there's one thing that can negate that, is that if they aren't coached, when they get them there, one or two things, the kids aren't going to be happy, or they're going to transfer right away. Now, the limit of transfers is, I think, going to have to be part of the new rules package. Maybe give them one transfer, give them five to play four. Whether they go to school or not, that's not in the equation. So, I think we're really sitting on a situation where the committee met this weekend, and I guess tomorrow night we'll get the first preview of what their result is.

And I kind of was on another show earlier this morning, we reviewed the committee, and there's some favoritism on there. I think we all can agree that that happens. And I can't wait to see, if they hold to the two-game rule of losses, then there's going to only be a couple of schools that the SEC is going to make it. Of course, they only take 12 by number. Notre Dame's one right off the bat. They're going to get two from the lower division. So, really, only nine slots are available for the Big Ten and for the SEC.

[42:26] And, of course, Alabama's got a big one coming up. Both of those teams have, one of them could play their way out of it, I think, this week. And don't you love the way Kiffin handled that? He said, the reason they're playing in the afternoon is that the SEC's mad at them. So, this was my deduction, that half-drugs playing in the afternoon is not as loud as full-drugs playing at night. Because I have been to those night games in Baton Rouge, I won't tell you guys.

Some of those guys, some of those motorhomes start rolling in about Wednesday. There'll be 100,000 people there, and half of them don't know where they are. That's how Mike said. Don't care. Max, but before we get into LSU and Alabama, let me ask you about the exact opposite of Mike Dorval, and that is Shane Beamer at South Carolina. They were the hottest team in the SEC in October. They went 3-1, they got Texas A&M coming to Columbia. Max, they finished with A&M, Arkansas, Georgia, and Clemson.

They may go 3-1, and Max, finish up 9-3 or 8-4. Neely, you've got family there. Max, has Beamer saved his job again? He's already saved, I can tell you that now. He's already saved. He's already done enough right now just to turn around itself. But it's the thing that they're excited about. And, you know, the doubters are still, well, if you could do it, now, how come you couldn't do it for the last two or three years? Because he had them stirred up. I know this for a fact.

I was over there this summer, and had a chance to go out with some of those guys. We were riding red on the boat, on the lake, by the way, when this conversation took place. But they were just waiting. They already had bets up. They were waiting on which game he was going to be fired at. And, of course, the season started relatively slow, just like all of them have. But you're right. All of a sudden, October 1st came around, and somebody turned the light on.

And the players caught on to what they were doing and certainly have given the fan base an exciting end to a season that they thought was going to be just the same as it's been the last two or three years. You know, I don't know how he found himself in that category. He came out of a coaching family, you know, and you put the, you know, the way of the land was before he took the job. He kind of rolled the dice, I think, maybe hoping he could obviously start better than he did.

But what is he, is this the third or four year he's been there? Three, I know. I think four, maybe. But the bottom line is, from my contacts over there, he's solidified his junior for another couple years now. And he's a nice guy, don't get me wrong. I don't wish you the thing. He tries to do the ethical thing at all. I think that might hurt him sometimes with some of the players. But the fact is, they've got it together, and they're looking forward to, you know, probably going through you more the rest of the year.

Let's say this. When I watch that Georgia-Florida game on Saturday, I'm thinking, that looks like a high school team versus an NFL team, is what it looks like to me. And, of course, Georgia will have a little more competition when they go to Oxford this week. But I still think they'll probably end up, probably 10-11, 10-2 at the most. They'll be, their only team in the league is almost guaranteed a slot in the playoffs. This will be really interesting to see. Alabama's got to win this one at Baton Rouge this weekend if they, you know, if they'd have any hope at all in getting to the playoffs.

And that's another question that, I know you've got to have an opinion about it, but my perception is that the new, it's a new committee, new structure. We went through all that this morning on another show about the loyalties that some of these people have. It's on the new committee. But I don't think they're going to dip below two. I think they'll stay at two. Because what the networks want, if we can all argue about it, as the committee of public relations has released, we're going to try to be as objective as possible, and we're going to try to get the best 12 teams there.

Well, that's not true. I hate to say that. We already know this. What they want is some more of an equitable position with all the leagues out there, so they'll have more viewers at the end. The money will be spread around more. It's a business decision. It's not a competitive decision. It's business. Where can we generate the most money? Well, you've got to get more than just the SEC and Big Ten teams involved. And they're going to do that. We know they're going to have three, and if the SEC can't produce but one or two, then they're going to get there to take more out of that league also.

[47:51] Well, it's BS wrapped in a sugar-coated pill is what it is, and they give you that line. Your thoughts, what is going to happen this weekend? Because statistically, I mean, there's no question as far as how LSU and Alabama stack up. But that's on paper, and they tell me they don't play it on paper. What's going to happen this weekend? Well, they've already released a weak-skinned linebacker. It's going to be back. And I've watched them close enough. But what I believe on defense they're going to do, they'll use him as a spy on the quarterback for Alabama.

And if he gets to the corner and he has to pull it down, he better hold on. Because that kid's as good a running back as he is in the country. I'm going to tell you. I think it's going to be an outstanding ballgame. LSU's favored by five or something like that. Five and a half now. It is. Five and a half. I think Alabama's got a chance. I really do. But I hope their preparation this week is – I hope everybody realizes the importance of this ballgame on that Alabama side, both coaching staff and players.

It's going to take a full effort for 60 minutes to beat them. I know that. And I think they can do that. But they can't go out there and just – you know, they can't wall around the first quarter or two and get behind by two touchdowns. Because if they do, they'll never catch up. Well, Max, Alabama's got five starters coming back. That was – Kael and DeBoer mentioned that this morning. We'll see how – as far as full strength. Max, great stuff. This is just an absolutely stellar slate of games coming up on Saturday, not only in the SEC, but across the nation.

Listen, have a great week. Hopefully we can all get through the election. Live through it again. Max, have a great week, bud. Let's do this again next Monday. All we've got to do is talk on the weekend and we'll do it. Thank you, guys. Max, how are we going to – well, let's quickly mention the UNA earlier football basketball about to get rolling tonight. I'm Harold Bugg alongside Brett Beaird.

Thank you so much for giving us a ride around the Tennessee Valley and for Charlie Trotman to join our little huddle this afternoon. Charlie, of course, the former Auburn quarterback and radio guru. Charlie, welcome in. How are you? I'm doing great, guys. A little disappointed in Auburn's performance. But other than that, I'm doing good. You know, Charlie, is this one of those games, if you just came in, you didn't listen to the game, didn't watch the game, you say, wow, what was Auburn doing? And it's a classic case of not how you begin a game, but how you end the game.

This final score, I think, in so many ways has Auburn fans scratching their heads, especially that final quarter of the game. Yeah, that's true, Harold. I think, you know, Auburn had a good game plan. They went out and did a fairly good job defensively in the first half. You know, they kept, you know, the score low from Ole Miss' standpoint. And, you know, early in the third quarter, they scored and, you know, had an attempted two-point conversion to tie the game. And it looked like it was going to go down to the fourth quarter and maybe the last drive even.

But you've got to give Ole Miss a lot of credit and Trinidad Chambliss and the guys that made big plays for them because, you know, he had two quarterback runs that scored and he threw a pass over the middle, a long pass to his tight end that made a great catch. And then even Deuce Knight came in and kind of sealed, you know, you just put on the icing on the cake for Ole Miss. It was disappointing. I think Alex Golesh is correct. It's the first time I've seen this team, I won't call it quit, because the effort was still there trying to make plays.

But, for instance, when Trinidad Chambliss threw a touchdown pass to former Auburn wide receiver Horatio Field, it was well covered. It could have been, you know, knocked away, but he made the catch and they made the plays that turned to get what was a close game into a runaway. Charlie, I certainly understand why Auburn fans are disappointed, but they literally were a two-point conversion away, as we talked about earlier in the show, from tying the game. And then Chambliss just does his stuff. Charlie, when that guy is healthy and he is playing well, we saw this in the Georgia playoff game last year.

When he just took over the game, they ended up being 13 of 16 on third down, which is incredible. They scored on 7 to 10 drives. I've been saying since the summer, Charlie, I think Chambliss is going to be in New York as far as a Heisman Trophy contender, and he may even win it. Yeah, he is outstanding. He's got a knack for making big plays. And to think that he was playing in a different level of football before he got to Ole Miss is hard to believe. But, you know, every time that you see Trinidad Chambliss put into a situation where it's critical and timely for him to make a big play, he does it.

[1:04:18] And, you know, you would think that Auburn, instead of letting him, when they go to, you know, no backs in the backfield to an empty set, knowing that he's either got to throw the football or run it, and he runs for two long touchdowns, or one almost touchdown and another long touchdown, it, you know, you just wonder why Auburn didn't have a spy or somebody on him for those plays, and how he was able to get loose, you know, in the defensive backfield and make Auburn pay for those mistakes.

But, look, guys, you know, I think it's becoming more and more apparent with the better teams that we play that Auburn, offensively and defensively on the front lines, is not really playing the kind of football that you've got to play to win in the SEC. For the last few weeks, we've only scored in the teams. You know, offensively, you can't win in the SEC and score in the teams. I don't know that anybody's won a game in the teams this year. You know, so you've got to score in the high 20s, low 30s, maybe even 40 points to be able to beat a team like Ole Miss over there in Oxford.

So, you know, offensively, it's been a mixed bag, you know, since the Georgia game. You know, Auburn has given up a lot of sacks. They gave up four or five sacks again Saturday and had, I think, seven sacks against LSU. You can't win that way. And when you've got that kind of pressure on your passer, Byron Brown is not having enough time to look downfield to find out who's open. So, it's been a problem on the offensive and defensive lines. Auburn's rushing defense has been awkwardly bad.

You know, and they've got some really good players. I mean, Melinda is one of the best linebackers in the conference. But, you know, when your offensive, I mean, your defensive linemen in front of you are getting manhandled, it makes you, you know, you can't make every single play. So, it's been very disheartening to watch the team get dismantled by LSU and Ole Miss in successive weeks. Well, if you're going to do this, you just have to be a quarterback the caliber of Joe Montana, Charlie Trotman to make those plays under those conditions.

Charlie, let's face it, there's this thing called Get Right Games. And if you look at it on paper, I would imagine Auburn fans right now are the lowest of lows. But the next three games, even four because it's a rivalry game, but the next three games are, as they say, winnable. You've got Arkansas, stayed on the road, back home with Sanford. But let's start this weekend. This is interesting to see Auburn and Arkansas. Crazy things happen because how many connections are there between Auburn and Arkansas over the years?

There are a lot of them, starting with Gus Malzahn, you know, a lot of, you know, even some of the quarterbacks that have come from Arkansas and played for Auburn. So, I would, you know, the thing about Arkansas is they're a dangerous team. I know they didn't play especially well Saturday, but that's a pretty good Missouri team, I think. Isn't that who they played? Yeah. That's a pretty good Missouri team. And, you know, they kept them off balance and Arkansas was not able to do much.

And, you know, you just don't know. I mean, Auburn, how do we match up against Ole Miss? Not very well or against LSU. But then, you know, when you say how do you match up against Arkansas, it ought to be in Auburn's favor. But then again, the way that Auburn has played, I mean, Arkansas has got good edge rushers. Arkansas can, you know, sack the quarterback. I mean, are they going to come in and get four or five sacks and keep Auburn in the teams offensively?

I just don't know, guys. I mean, you don't have a lot of confidence in what's happened on the offensive and defensive lines of late that gives you the kind of feeling that it's going to be maybe a two-score game in Auburn's favor. You just, you don't, you don't know that. You're exactly right. Charlie, Auburn ran for 192 against Georgia. They gained 63 yards rushing. I know some of that was subtracted by sacks. Ole Miss gained 224 and they were giving up 161. There were significant changes on the offensive line.

[1:09:18] Jacoby Ward started his first career game. Stanton Ramell moved from right tackle to left tackle. Wilson Zaire, who may be the best offensive lineman they have, moved from left guard to right tackle. And McManus moved from right guard to left guard. Charlie, there is, that's some pretty significant, will they keep this same offensive line when they play Arkansas? It's a good question. I think, Brett, that they've been looking for the right combination. It's sort of a musical chairs type situation with trying to put the right tackle with the right guard next to them, trying to get Best, who's been the center all year, to, you know, anchor an offensive line that is improving.

But they really haven't improved with the way they've had to transition and put new players in and transition certain players from right side to left side, like Ramell. I just think that makes it difficult to try to get any, you know, what you would call cohesion or compatibility with playing the same guys, you know, week after week. If you play the same guys week after week, you've got either one or two things that will happen. Either they get better each week and they finally gel together as an offensive line or they keep making the same mistakes.

Yeah. And so the coaches obviously have, they have leaned on the side of these guys are going to make the same mistakes and we're going to put some new blood in and see how they do. So it's, you know, I don't know, kind of a hodgepodge right now on the offensive line. And it's got to make Byron Brown feel a little vulnerable going back to the past when he has, he sees different guys in different positions and, you know, he can't really count on, you know, any particular offensive line unit to get better as the year progresses.

Charlie, I've always said, if you look at a game, everybody comes in, they start comparing stats, but I've always said turnovers, third down, what you do on offense, what you do on defense regarding third down. And the other part, you mentioned gaining only 60 something yards on offense. If you're giving up like Auburn did over 220 yards this past weekend, forget about some of these other stats. That's all relative to the competition. But would you agree that what teams do on third down and also if you're only, if you're on the wrong side of 100 yards gaining yards on the ground and you're giving up over 200 yards on the other side, to me, that's where you got to start fixing things because, you know, a team that's got a decent line is just going to sit here and melt the clock and try to control it, running the ball.

Yeah, that's true. I mean, you know, this year coming into the season, I thought, Harold, that D.J. Durkin and the defense was going to be very competitive. I thought that they would be one of the units that could keep Auburn in the game. I really felt like they would play good football, and at times they do. But they just, as a whole, like you said, on third down, they have not been very competitive. They've given up, whereas third and long, they've given up, you know, they have a defensive holding or something.

They give the offense a first down, and, you know, they just let teams keep drives alive. And it's been a, you know, ongoing problem for weeks on the end now. And if the defense doesn't improve, like I said, I mean, who's to say Arkansas won't come in and score 25 points? And if they keep Auburn in the teens, you know, it's a big win for Arkansas. So, you know, if I was Arkansas looking at the game coming in, I'd be pumped up that this is a winnable game.

You know, so, you know, Auburn's got to really play good football, sound football, and get back to, you know, a physical, you know, when Coach Golesh was talking earlier in the year, he used to talk about the violence on defense and being violent, you know, on the offensive line. And I haven't seen that recently, you know, on the Auburn squad. That's what your teams were so good at, Charlie. You played, you did fundamental football so well for your three years at Auburn. Charlie, this will get better, as Harold alluded to.

I think the schedule is a little more manageable. If they win two out of three or three out of four, get a winning season and get to a minor bowl, I think that would perk a few people up for 2027. Charlie, have a great week. We always enjoy breaking down the games with you, buddy. Let's do this again next Monday. We'll sure do it, guys. Thank you so much. And we'll regal. Thank you so much. Online health questions required. From the University of Alabama, this is Crimson Tide Today. It's a daily update on Bama sports, and it's brought to you by APS, Alabama Professional Services. Hello again, everybody. I'm Roger Hoover. As we get ready for Alabama against LSU, here are some thoughts from former Alabama quarterback and CTSN analyst Tyler Watts. You have an entirely new roster, new coaching staff all coming together. It's going to take them time to kind of figure things out, and hopefully during this off week they'll forget everything and won't be prepared to play against us.

You know what? More importantly, I just hope we're prepared. I just want to see us play, have all hands on decks, be as healthy as we possibly can, and go down there and play our best football. That's a fun environment to play in as a football player. It's loud. It's obnoxious. You've had the experience of going up to Neyland Stadium just a couple of weeks ago. There should be nothing that shocks you about the environment that you're walking into because you played in a similar situation.

But, man, it is fun to shut that crowd up because they will leave. They are the most fickle fan base, and it is fun to empty that stadium out. Was it more of ESPN or Lifetime this weekend for you and Daphne? How are you? Well, he's still taping the TV show and hopefully will be with us. You don't have busy this Tennessee media all day. Oh, my gosh. And V-man, to be honest with you, it's almost a spoof. He's one of the hardest working men we know in East Tennessee. But your thoughts about not only Tennessee, but where we are in the college football season.

And what did you glean from Alabama? The key to moving up in the polls is not play. They were obviously kicking back and relaxing this past weekend. They go from 10 to 9, the highest two-loss team, according to the traditional polls. What did you glean as far as what to read into it coming up tomorrow night with the first big poll? Well, going from 10 to 9, I don't read anything. Harold, you and I have been talking about the isolation committee and what they consider important and what really is important for, it seems like, decades, certainly for years.

I want to see once again tomorrow, how is the strength of schedule, are you going to talk about it or are you going to actually look at that as one of your predictors with your analytics? How serious are you going to be about this? And again, we knew with only one bye week, Harold, in adding another conference game, that the SEC was going to cannibalize itself. And that's what it's doing right now. But I am curious to see what the strength of schedule metric is going to be used tomorrow night.

You get to finish sometimes that the Big Ten basically threw the meat out there and put it in a cage and did a good job of camouflaging. And Greg Sank and the SEC walked right into it as far as going to this nine-game schedule. Now, they got some problems that are wrong with Ohio State. But it's almost like they sat here and just baited just enough to get the SEC to do, as you mentioned, cannibalize each other. Because at the end of the day, the committee is going to come out and they're going to give me this typical BS stuff.

They're going to wrap, you know what, in a sugar-coated pill. And as it's well-being documented, everybody thinks it's a 12-team feel. Yes, on paper it is. But one of those 12 goes to Notre Dame, talking about Mr. Prima Donna and Diva. And then two more go to the lower division. So, really and truly, the powerhouses are only playing for one of nine spots. And I will say this. Everybody focuses on that poll coming out tomorrow night. Remember, years ago, Mississippi State came out. I think they were number one.

And then they faded quicker than an ice cream cone and a July 4th picnic after that. The first poll really, it does matter. Don't get me wrong. But how much does it matter? Because Alabama is the master of their own destiny starting this weekend. Are there any words, if you're serious about getting into the postseason, that you can use to describe how big this game is for Alabama? Of course, for LSU too, but for Alabama since we're on this side of the state line. Well, again, Harold, it's the same thing we've seen with the media for the last week.

It's an elimination game. It's a CFP elimination game. Again, Kalen DeBoer coming out this morning and saying at least he thinks five starters are going to be coming back, which is huge. And, again, these are five key, key starters with this. But, again, we'll see. You mentioned the Big Ten. Let's see. Iowa lost to Minnesota last week. Wisconsin blew out USC. And then USC beats Ohio State. And, quite frankly, the game shouldn't have been as close as it actually was. It's going to be interesting to see.

There's no question the SEC is the better league this year. Isn't it amazing how the USC's with an S are rocking and rolling this Monday? This is on this Monday. I'm talking USC, South Carolina, USC, Southern Cal. And the significance of that game, and for all the folks who want Kalen DeBoer to head out, then I guess they were disappointed that Lincoln Riley won that ball game. But I will say this, be careful what you wish for. If you want to move DeBoer out, tell me who you're going to move in and how you're going to keep the money in the drawer to put together a team after that as you write all the checks that would take.

[1:25:05] But one of the things that happened when Lincoln Riley won this weekend, you've got to believe that put a wet towel to a lot of that talk of Lincoln Riley leaving. And maybe you open the door for folks like DeBoer and others. Well, again, we'll see because he's still got some key games left. But USC looked much better. Listen, we saw what Wisconsin-Alabama week beat Wisconsin twice, in fact, by three or four touchdowns. And then Wisconsin just completely shut down USC. Now, obviously, they were going to play better in the Coliseum.

And they had a monsoon during that game. The cameras really didn't show it very well. That was a big part of that. But, no, that was a big win for USC as far as giving Lincoln Riley a chance. And, again, we knew the FSU situation was coming. It was just a matter of time. Shane Beamer's done an exceptional job of basically keeping his job for another year. Still a long way to go with this. But, no, this is what we talked about a month ago about the SEC having four top 25 matchups.

This Saturday may be as close or even better than that. And across the country, we'll talk to Bruce Marshall about this tomorrow. But there are some incredible games on Saturday. Well, and none bigger in our zip code than the Bama LSU game. And in typical Lane fashion, does the boy – can you imagine being a brother or sister of Lane Kiffin growing up? I don't know if he had any or not. But every time that you went on a Halloween trick-or-treat and Larry got two lollipops and Lane only got one, the whining that must have been in the backseat of that car.

And hopefully that day I said, don't make me stop this car. I get the impression the car wouldn't stop much for Lane because he's still whining about that 230 kick. I mean, what does Lane expect as far as favors from the SEC office? It's like, let me have my way. And then when you push back, I'm going to sit here and whining again. Vegas is buying it. They're saying that this is going to go Lane's way by – it's increased from four now to whopping five and a half.

I say whopping because this is Alabama and LSU. Your thoughts, are you buying Vegas in that line that keeps heading north for Alabama? Well, first of all, I understand why LSU is ahead because the LSU offense has come together in the last couple of games. Sam Levitt had a tremendous game against Auburn. And, of course, they had to buy a week along with Alabama. And, look, I understand, once again, that LSU is favored as far as a lot of the metrics. They lead in this category and that category.

Alabama, historically, has done incredibly well in Baton Rouge. From 69 to 90, they had a – in 1984, they had a 14-14 time with Ray Perkins. But, no, this is a game – the health of this, Harold, is the most important thing. If Alabama gets these five starters back, and we'll talk to William Redfish Barger about that next, that's going to make a huge difference in Alabama's performance Saturday. Bama fans always scoot up a little closer to the radio anytime we say William Redfish Bargers in the house. Former University of Alabama offensive lineman now co-host of Bama's radio. William, welcome in. Happy Monday to you. How are you? Well, don't ask me that question next Monday, but I'm doing good right now. I'm writing it down even as we…

Was your blood pressure better this past weekend than it has been in a while? And did the crappie hate to see you coming now, William? I didn't get a chance to do any crappie chasing, but yeah, blood pressure is good. Obviously, William, you've been there and done that. Brent and I have been down to a Saturday night in Baton Rouge. We know you have. We were joking earlier. Is it true that that's the one place the birds fly without feathers? And I'm talking about people who probably haven't even been in preschool yet.

[1:35:32] The kids, they learn early down there. First of all, William, what's it like playing in that environment as a player? I mean, you know, it's not as intense as, say, Knoxville, but it's still an extremely tough place to play. I think Alabama's… I know the LSU fans aren't happy about it because it cuts their time to drink, but Alabama's catching a break with it being a 2-30 game versus a 6-30 game. But, no, it's a tough place to play. You know, the stadium doesn't hold the noise in quite as well as Neyland Stadium does, but it's still a loud place to play, especially if, you know, LSU, you know, jumps out to a lead.

Yeah. You know, I mean, I will say this, that they are one of the, you know, fastest fan bases to hit the gate. Things aren't going their way. So, you know, I would suggest for, you know, Caelan DeBoer in Alabama to try and make that happen if they can. It would make for an easier afternoon for them. William, let me ask you about the me and Dollar question about the health of this team. Certainly the bi-week help. Caelan DeBoer came out this morning, of course, was asked about the five or six starters as far as their health.

And he said, well, I'm much more optimistic. They'll see once they get into practice again this week. Zulu, I think, is going to be late season. But even the Yonsei Piers, Mance, Devin Tompkins, a lot of these players who have played, but they've been beat up and maybe slowed down a little bit. But your impeccable sources, is this going to be a lot healthier team in Baton Rouge? You know, yes and no. You know, you might see some guys playing that you haven't seen in a couple of weeks, but, you know, you don't know if they're going to be on a pitch count.

You know, you don't know the first time, you know, somebody puts their foot in the ground going to the right and they go back to the left. Is there going to be a twinge? You know, is somebody going to get falling on? You know, it's, you know, the guys that, you know, I think everybody is thinking about, you know. You know, we saw this with William Sanders early in the year, you know, trying to play through injuries. You know, they're not going to be 100%, let's just be honest, despite what you may see or hear on the TV broadcast.

So, you know, there's a pain tolerance there that goes, you know, varies from player to player. You know, it's easier, in my opinion, for, you know, Ryan Delgati to play center with a bum knee than it is Ryan Williams, you know, to do the things that he's asked to do at the wide receiver spot. So, especially when it's a surgically repaired knee. So, you know, we just don't know. I mean, you know, Terrence Green is, you know, playing through some injuries. So, you know, we just don't know.

You know, I do expect to see all the names that we just mentioned. But to what extent, you know, we don't know yet. William, obviously certain things are core to answer the question. Number one, let's face it, the hub of the wheel is always going to be the quarterback. We've seen this kid look like Superman, also look like Gene. Your thoughts about now it's back on the road. We saw what happened in Kentucky. We saw what happened in Tennessee. Let's start with that. How much has Russell learned about playing in this environment and setting the tone as early as possible to take the invaluable lessons from those games and apply it to this one?

Well, you know, I think obviously the offensive coordinator putting not only Keelan Russell, but also the whole offense in a situation to come out of the gate and get off to a productive start, I think is critical. But there again, I mean, you know, the recipe is out. You know, you mentioned the road games, but we also saw it through the first three quarters at home against Texas A&M. Yes, fair enough. Yes. So, you know, I think basically, and this applies to both sides of the ball, to both coordinators.

Thank you. So, you know, the recipe is out on how to do things well or prevent the other team from doing well. What's your counterpunch going to be? What's the adjustments that need to be made? You know, you saw Ryan Grubb make some adjustments in the fourth quarter against Texas A&M, the five to seven step drops where Keelan Russell was asked to sit in the pocket for five seconds to wait for lengthy down the field pass patterns to open up when out the window. And you started seeing more quick hitting, you know, one to two read pass patterns where he got that talented tight end room involved in things.

[1:40:51] And they, you know, they've had some success. I mean, look, man, I'm not Vince Lombardi, but I've seen enough to know that Marshall Pritchett's a weapon and I would do whatever I had to do as a play caller to get him more looks and more touches so he can continue to be a weapon. You know, Caleb Edwards probably isn't as much of a weapon, but he's still, you know, I think getting the tight ends involved early. I mean, has it been the Missouri game since last year that we saw a concerted effort to get the running backs involved in the passing game?

That's correct. You know, that may be, you know, and, you know, bless his heart, I think that's when Kevin Riley got his jaw broken too, so that probably is not a good one to bring up. But, you know, there was more of an effort, in my opinion, to get the running backs involved in the passing game last year. And, you know, Daniel Hill is a good receiver out of the backfield. You know, Treshawn Brown has shown that he's got the ability to be that guy. So, you know, you don't always have to make the wide receivers the most important in the passing game, especially if the opposing defense is taking measures to make sure that they're not.

So, you know, and I played on several teams at the high school and the college level where the tight ends and the running backs were the leading receivers in quite a few football games. So, this isn't, you know, reinventing football we're talking about here. It's called taking what the defense gives you sometimes. Common sense. Let me ask you this, Redfish. Let's go to the other side of the game. It's almost like you described Lane Kiffin's game plan to the hilt. He does not, if I'm wrong, he loves to control the game with four or five-yard pickups with a passing game on first down.

Will Alabama's defense learn that you can't sit here and give these guys, with Lane Kiffin calling shots, that much soft coverage? What will Alabama's defense do to adjust to this offense? Well, I mean, I think the first thing they need to do, which should be the, you know, the priority in every game, is to focus on stopping the run. That's really what Lane Kiffin's offense flourishes on. Yeah, he's going to do some things to loosen you up. And you also have to account for, you know, they'll probably talk about it ad nauseum in the pregame commentary.

But, you know, Sam Leavitt has supposedly been battling a gimpy hamstring. But it doesn't look too gimpy to me against Auburn a couple of weeks. No. Nah. So, you know, you do have to account for his legs. You know, now he is prone to kind of, you know, the Lenore Sellers, Santa Claus is coming to town gifts. He will turn the ball over and make some bad decisions. But, you know, I think you have to account for Sam Leavitt in that running game as well. And also, it could possibly, you may want to alter how you choose to rush the passer, you know, against a quarterback with his ability.

But, you know, they're going to take deep shots down the field. You know, we've all seen Lane Kiffin's offense at multiple stops now. So, you know, we know what to expect. But, you know, they've got a pretty talented unit, got some tough, hard-nosed running backs. You know, they spread the ball around in the passing game. And there again, you know, that, you know, it's the same way for Alabama as well. I mean, Keelan Russell's obviously a threat to run the football too. But, you know, Leavitt, I think, is a little bit quicker to pull that trigger than Keelan is at times.

Well, the secondary, and we've talked about this, certainly the secondary, in light of the criticism, has been merited. But do you see, maybe by divine intervention, the more man coverage, stop this seven-yard cushion on the receivers. Carmelo O'Neal played a good bit at Texas A&M. Ivan Taylor seems to be getting a little more reps. What's your thoughts on the secondary against LSU? You know, I would probably have a better feeling about this game if I thought we were going to see more of Carmelo and more of Ivan Taylor and its safety.

You know, we don't have to go into the Webster's dictionary for the definition of insanity. We've kind of seen it play out, you know, over half of the season now. So, you know, I certainly think the play or lack thereof in the back end of Alabama's defense, you know, warrants some different looks from some different players back there. So, William, if you put all the stuff in the blender and you come out with the result, what's going to happen Saturday afternoon for the Whitey Lane Kiffin in LSU and Alabama?

[1:46:07] Well, you know, I probably could give you a more concise, clear answer if I knew, you know, and have some guarantees on the health of all those people that we mentioned. I mean, with there being question marks there, you know, and especially with, you know, having the, you know, even the Georgia game, you know, I think that's kind of where the recipe, you know, was mastered, so to speak. You know, as far as, you know, how to cause, you know, that Alabama offense some problems, you know, we've seen that.

They're going to keep doing it until Brian Grubb makes them not do it anymore. So, you know, man, I don't have a good feeling about it. You know, even if Alabama was totally healthy, you know, I think just, you know, more recent game exposure, and I get it, you know, and I don't know if Texas A&M is any better than the Auburn team that LSU whacked at home two weeks ago. But, you know, just based on some of the recent stuff that I've seen out of both teams, man, I mean, take my Bammer-Homer cap off and, you know, just based on what my eyes have seen, I've got to give LSU the, you know, they're the home team.

You know, I've got to give them a slight advantage in this game, and hopefully I'm wrong. Hopefully next Monday, you know, y'all FedEx me some sauteed crow to eat while I talk to you. I'll be glad to do it. But, William, we've talked, obviously, about the good and the bad for offense and defense. I know Conrad Holt, he missed two field goals against Texas A&M, but have special teams been, when you look at the overall of the season, the most consistent unit on the team?

Yeah, I'd say that's fair. You know, there's been some good kickoff returns. There's been some, you know, some solid punt returns at times. There hasn't really been major busts out of the, you know, the coverage teams. And, you know, take Talti's performance against A&M out of the equation, and, you know, both he and the punter, I think, have exceeded expectations for this season. Oh, I couldn't agree with you more. Now, has this been a much better Monday than the one you had three weeks ago, that Monday from h***?

Has this been a pretty good Monday for you? Man, honestly, I think the Monday from h*** was actually a week or two before the Tennessee game. It was. Yeah, November is off to a much better start than October. Let's just say that. You just broke your cardiologist's heart. They want some business down there. William, it's always good to hook up with you. Listen, man, thank you so much, and have as good a week as you possibly can, okay? Thanks, guys. Y'all too. Thank you, buddy. The Redfish, William Barger, looking at with us.

B.B., I'll tell you what, believe it or not, college basketball gets rolling in earnest tonight. We mentioned UNA. They got the late date out at UC Davis. That's a 9 o'clock till. But how about this for a matchup? The number one team in the country, and I don't think anybody's going to disagree, it's in the Battle of the Sunshine State. They're taking on Miami. That's number 14. What a way to open it up in the state. Number one versus number 14. Pretty good way to open the lid up in the college basketball season.

It really is. And then Alabama gets started with Sam Houston tomorrow night. We'll talk about that game a little bit more. UNA football night at Lost Pizza tonight, and then Monday night football, and then a bunch of other good stuff as we go throughout the week. Other than that, absolutely nothing going on. But whatever it is, we've got you covered right here. That's going to take care of business for now. On behalf of B.B., Greg, James Blair, the entire crew here, Harold Buck, thank you so much for your time today.

Let's do it again tomorrow, noon to 2 for the Boom Hall Bunk Show, back here on Sports Radio 93.9 The Score. Thank you.
