[0:00] Now, get ready to roll, Shoals, Decatur, Athens, and all of Northwest Alabama and Southern Tennessee. It's time for the Valley's exclusive FM Sports Voice. The Boomo Bugg Show. Your exclusive inside track to the tie, Tigers, Tennessee and the rest of the SEC. Now, your host, Harold Bugg on 93.9, The Score. And welcome into the Boomo Bugg Show. Today for Tuesday, Harold Bugg unfortunately will not be with us today. He has had a death in family and our prayers and thoughts are certainly with him and Teresa. But we've got a great show on top and I can't think of a better way to begin with our next guest, Roger Hoover, play-by-play announcer for Alabama women's basketball, does an incredible job with baseball, took Alabama to the College World Series, soccer, hosted Crimson Drive, we'll talk about that a little bit later, did Crimson Rewind last night with Tyler Watts, pre- and post-game for Alabama football, men's basketball, and everything else at the University of Alabama.

Roger, welcome into the show today, my friend. How are you doing? Doing well, Brad. Thanks for having me on and all the best, as you mentioned, to Harold's family. Absolutely, buddy. Roger, I can't think of a team in the country that is looking more forward to having a bye week than the University of Alabama. And I hear, well, everybody's got injuries, everybody's got to work through that. But, Roger, this team was missing going into the Texas A&M game. Their starting center, their top receiver, their top cornerback, two of their top defensive backs, and Terrence Green and Desmond Zulu, E.J. Crowell, Red Morgan got ejected for targeting during the game.

Will Sanders, Alabama's left guard, was knocked out with an injury, and reports indicate he's had tightrope surgery, and we'll hopefully be back in two or three weeks. Roger, Alabama needs a bye week. Yes, absolutely. It's a very banged-up football team. And, you know, sometimes you go into a season saying, all right, we're going to be just fine as long as our starting quarterback doesn't get hurt. Well, in the last few years of the Saban era, we saw, you know, Tua Tungabailoa get hurt, even Bryce Young get hurt, and Alabama managed to get through that because everyone else around him picked up whoever was the backup quarterback, like Mack Jones or Jalen Milrow.

Right now, it's almost like Hewlett-Russell is the only healthy one. He's, like, trying to carry this team all on his own, especially offensively when you take away his center. You know, that exchange is so key between the center and the quarterback, and then his top-receiving option and Ryan Coleman-Williams. So I think this group's figuring it out. I think we even saw that throughout the course of the game. You know, Keelan was able to realize, all right, Rico Scott can kind of play the role today. Ryan Coleman-Williams will get him the football.

He goes on to have a really career day. And then on the other side of the ball, you saw someone like Fatu Koa Henry step up in the absence of Terrence Green, make a couple of key sacks, and becomes the SEC defensive lineman of the week. So it's a group that was challenged, really had to figure it out. Definitely that was a brutal stretch when you're talking about the Georgia game. Tennessee game, and then against still a very good Texas A&M team. Tyler and I debated kind of looking at the A&M schedule last night.

They are still going to upset somebody down the stretch. Texas, Tennessee, somebody has a loss coming from Texas A&M being on their schedule down the road that will impact the playoff discussion and the race to Atlanta for the championship game. So if you're Alabama, you're thrilled you got out of the Texas A&M game with a win. You're still not as healthy as you'd like to be, but now is the time to try and rest up and heal. And it's a very good thing. We've still got the greatest of all time in control of this football program, Jeff Allen, the head athletic trainer.

He was the trainer during all the saving years, and he's doing a masterful job. He is the one person that's really going to get Alabama through this week, and then Coach DeBoer and the coaching staff will take over the rest, starting with the LSU week. That's a great point, Roger. Jeff Allen and his athletic training staff perform minor miracles sometimes to get these players ready to play. You alluded to Texas A&M, and I agree with you. I thought they played very well against Alabama, and particularly Marcel Reed.

He had two early picks, which is a credit to Alabama, but he righted the ship and played quite well. In fact, of course, they took the lead on Alabama, but the Tide literally in the fourth quarter, two scoring drives within five minutes of each other. Roger, they looked pretty good in that fourth quarter, 102 yards to 15, eight first downs to zero. There were, Ryan Grubb, I thought, caught a good play in that fourth quarter with the back-to-back touchdowns, short, easy throws, put Russell in good spots. Alabama ran the ball, really utilized the Tide-ins.

[5:09] A lot of fans say, now, can they take that fourth quarter and carry it over to LSU? That's certainly the goal, and using those Tide-ins, I think, is great to see for this offense. Even getting Caleb Edwards more looks, even as a wide receiver, I think, would be fun to see, because he's such a physical and versatile player. But that group's playing well. I think everybody's pretty happy with the offensive output, with the one exception of maybe still trying to find that running game a little bit more.

Who knows, that could be a huge part of it being Rayson Delgotti still out, but he lost William Sanders in the offensive line during the ballgame, and still not having E.J. Crowell. We've seen him turn a lot of kind of nothing runs into something that we didn't necessarily get much of from Treshaun Brown this past week or Daniel Hill. But give Daniel Hill some credit. He made a great touchdown catch, a really athletic play earlier in the ballgame when Alabama had to find some offense.

So, still not perfect, but again, finding a way to beat a team where you're down in the first half, I think, says a lot about this football team, and they've done that a lot so far this season. That is only going to make them better as they get into the stretch run here in November, and hopefully the college football playoff. Roger, and I think the defense is going to play better, too, once they get Zulu, Terrence Green, and some of the other guys back, especially Zabian Brown at corner.

One of the things, and again, I know Alabama struggled with the slant. I give Texas A&M a lot of credit for coming up that, and then they had some running plays. A lot of people don't realize this. Alabama and Texas Tech lead the nation with five defensive touchdowns. Alabama's got 19 takeaways, and that is a Kane Womack defense. That's their signature, and again, we know that teams have scored points. They've been able to run the ball, and particularly with Georgia and Tennessee, but Alabama leads the nation, which is amazing, five defensive touchdowns.

It's great to see, especially from Dejean Lee, who had a tough penalty called on him two plays before, able to make up for it immediately with that pick-stick interception. The secondary just always seems to be in the right spot and making big plays when they're counted on, and I think they're going to be very good, especially against teams that are more kind of pass-happy down the road, like probably LSU we're going to see in a couple weeks, and then especially once you get to the Auburn game, which with how one-dimensional they've looked at times this year, I think Alabama's going to be in really good shape for those games because not only do you still have one of the nation's most experienced secondaries making plays at a high level, now even the younger guys like Carmelo O'Neal, Chuck McDonald, Shira Edwards, they're all getting some really good experience coming in and backfilling some of those spots and playing at a very high level.

No question about it. Roger, I asked the question during the summer, who's going to be the No. 3 wide receiver for Alabama, Lottie Brooks and Coleman Williams, who will hopefully be back by the LSU game. I think Mr. Scott had a pretty good case as far as No. 3. It's amazing. He had six catches, 156 yards, and we've talked about the tight ends, the job they've done in blocking, and particularly Marshall Pritchett, Caleb Edwards, the receiving core beginning to play better, too. Absolutely. And for Rico, you know, this performance may have been just a week late.

He was targeted 11 times, I believe, against Tennessee and only made four catches. He was just a bit off in Knoxville on making some very similar plays to what we saw this past week in Tuscaloosa. And, you know, if he makes just two or three more catches against Tennessee, that could have become a very different ballgame at Neyland Stadium. So, this has been building for Rico Scott. He's always been known as somebody that's just blazing speed to get behind any defense. But the fact that he's able to go over the middle and make some tough catches like we saw against Texas A&M, I think, shows how versatile he can be and how good he can be with the ball in his hands and space.

So, I think that's certainly a performance you can build on, and it's only going to help having Ryan Coleman-Williams back at the top of that wide receiver depth chart and making some separation for himself downfield and then hopefully for Lottie and then Rico behind that. Absolutely. I thought Keelan Russell got better as the game went on. That's been kind of his M.O. for the season. In fact, Roger, to end the game, he was 9 out of 10. You could really see that he was beginning to get into rhythm in the fourth quarter.

He's had some growing pains. He made some mistakes in the Texas A&M game. He got out of what looked like a sure sack and then was trying to make a play and threw in the reception. Roger, your thoughts on his development so far? I think the bye week's coming at a good time. He's been hitting a lot of different directions the last few weeks from Georgia to Tennessee, Texas A&M, all very good defenses, all defenses that put pressure on a quarterback and then do some different things in the secondary that make life really difficult.

[10:14] And he's gotten through that. Yes, you would like for the results to be a little different against Georgia and Tennessee, but in the large scope of the season and for the scope of his career, it's just learning experiences. And now he gets to build on it and he'll have to be good once again going up against a good pass rush coming up in LSU, especially with everything they do off the edge and the pressure they created on a quarterback. But now it's to the point where it's nothing he hasn't seen before after the experience he's gone through the last few weeks.

So the bye week, I think, comes at a really good time for everybody on this roster, especially those guys we hit on that are trying to recover from injuries. But I think for Keelan Russell, too, to take kind of a deep breath mentally and kind of look back at the film, see what he's done well, see some areas of growth that he still has to go, I think it's going to really benefit his game. And I'm really excited about what the final part of this season, final third, is going to look like starting with the LSU game because he's capable of making so many great plays down the stretch.

And honestly, it kind of reminds me of Bryce Young a little bit. Bryce was a first-year starter in 2021. Look at the close to the season he had with that dramatic Iron Bowl victory and then absolutely thrashing Georgia in the SEC Championship game to win a Heisman Trophy. I'm not saying that's on the horizon for Keelan, but I think a strong finish to his first-year starting is very, very much within his grasp like we saw with Bryce a few years ago. Absolutely. Listen, tell us about your week.

I'm going to guess Saturday, Roger Hoover is going to be at a golf course somewhere enjoying a round of golf. Last night, Crimson Rewind with Tyler Watts. Hey, Coach, on Wednesday night. And Crimson Drive, I keep telling people about Crimson Drive. Last week, you had Caleb Woodson, Nick Kelly with AL.com, Andrew Monaco, the voice of Texas A&M. Tell us about your week. Who's on Crimson Drive and where can we get online and listen? Well, thank you for the publicity, Brad. Yeah, we're taking a little easy with Crimson Drive this week, only getting out of the garage once.

We're going to have one show coming up on Thursday that'll kind of focus on women's basketball a little bit, plus some football discussion from Tyler Watts from Crimson Tide Rewind. So we're taking a big, deep breath this week with the bye week. We'll have a basketball game coming up tonight. The Alabama women's team will take on Mississippi Christian University, which I've always called Mississippi College and the world has always called Mississippi College up until this summer. But it's going to be next edition of the night, 545, going to be our airtime in Tuscaloosa for Alabama against Mississippi Christian University.

And then that's the last ball game for the week. Time to really rest and relax because, Brett, between Alabama men's and women's basketball next week into football. I think I've got eight or nine games in a nine-day stretch starting next Monday. So we have, if you love basketball, get down to Coleman Coliseum next week because we have either a men's or women's game every night, Monday through Friday coming up next week. So I'm taking a big, deep breath this weekend. I'm going to enjoy Halloween with my little one-year-old son and my wife coming up this weekend.

And then, man, from there on, it is a full basketball blitz with a little bit of football mixed in. Listen, these two basketball teams I think are going to be very good. Alabama men's team finished the exhibition season three and, oh, listen, you deserve a break, my friend. The University of Alabama Athletic Department is really, Roger Hoover is a treasure to work with and I know they appreciate everything you do for them. Listen, enjoy trick-or-treating in the game of golf and enjoy the week, my friend.

The Score. To the Boomo Bugg show, Brett Beaird in for Harold Bugg. Harold, unfortunately, had a death in his family. And again, our thoughts and prayers are with Harold and Teresa. But I'm delighted to bring in good friend Joe Cox. Columnist for Saturday Down South and author of A Fine Team Man. Joe, welcome into the show today, Ben. How are you doing? Joe doing all right, Brett. And certainly pass along my best wishes to Harold and the family, too. I hate to hear that. I know.

[20:38] He appreciates that, Joe. Two Saturdays ago, five of the top seven teams ranked in the Associated Press top ten lost an historic day. And a lot of people said, we'll never see anything like that happen again. This past Saturday, six of the top 16 lost. Joe, is there a trend here? I think it's safe to say and maybe the only reason we didn't immediately have another week like that is a lot of the teams that were highly ranked were on buys last week. So, yeah. This is chaos.

This is craziness. It's almost like we dipped into this whole 2014 playoff thing already because every week is feeling kind of like a playoff. And anybody who thinks they know what's going to happen is mostly kidding themselves. Well, I think you're right about that. Joe, we talked last week about Texas. They had, it felt like a must win against Ole Miss and it looked like they were going to run Ole Miss out of the stadium. They jump out 24-3. Arch was looking really good. And then Ole Miss scores 21 consecutive points to tie it.

Texas finds a running game in the fourth quarter. Brown went nuts and they hold on to win. That was a huge win for the Longhorns. It really was. It very much keeps them in the playoff picture when another loss would have pretty much knocked them out. And I think you definitely hit a key there. That ground game. Because to me, I cannot believe in Arch Manning as the game-saving make-the-fourth-quarter play quarterback. But if you've got a good guy for him to hand the ball to, he might be able to get you through and that's what happened on Saturday.

No question about that. Joe, we all know what people think. Most people either love him or hate him. That is Lane Kiffin with LSU. They lost two games early. Won them to that incredible Kentucky team. We'll talk about them in a minute. But they went to Auburn. Auburn had all the momentum after beating Georgia who was number one at the time and just dominated that game. Sam Leavitt had an incredible game. 32-45, 387. Jordan Ross, the edge rusher, went wild. Two and a half tackles for a loss.

Two sacks. LSU wins 38-17. They've got a buy-in. Of course, they face Alabama and Redstick in a couple weeks. Joe, that was quite an impressive performance against an Auburn team that had really been playing well and particularly against Georgia. Yeah, you talk about a team that got the result they needed. LSU's another one. Again, another one of these teams that's already got two losses. And I think, Brett, what we're going to end up setting ourselves up for here is a world where you're going to have at least one, and I'm not, you know, I wouldn't be surprised if we see two three-loss NFC teams end up in the playoff just because I think everybody is going to end up 9-3 basically is what we're shaking up for here.

And, you know, LSU fits right into that. They're playing really well. They look great. Now, after this break, you get Alabama, Texas, and Tennessee. If you're going to run the table in that, you earned your playoff spot. But I would think it's much more likely that there's at least a loss in there somewhere. So, you know, I'm back in on Lane Kiffin like you, but week to week that can vary. Joe, what about Auburn? They could not run the ball. They ran for 192 yards against Georgia, and they couldn't run the ball against LSU.

A lot of people overlook the LSU defense, which is leading the SEC. One of the top guys, in fact, Byron Brown, who ran for over 100 yards, had all of 21, and Auburn ran for 69 yards. Ole Miss, again, Trinidad Chambliss couldn't pull off another magic act, but we know how good that he is. But Keywon Lacy is out. It's another injury. It's not the same shoulder. It's another one. Joe, very interesting game. Auburn going to Oxford on Saturday. It is. It's going to be tough to go down to Oxford and win.

The story that just broke that I saw and thought, well, there is a ray of sunshine for Auburn, honestly, was the Camario Taylor situation, and that one's coming up in three weeks, and that's a road trip, and that was a game I kind of had. Well, Auburn has a chance, but if he's right, I don't think it happens. now that's off the table, so I think that's good news for Auburn. I think if Auburn can just kind of get through this Ole Miss game and stay more or less healthy and mentally in one piece, then you set up a real nice three-game run with Arkansas and Samford at home and a trip to a Camario Taylor-less Mississippi State in the middle.

[25:40] That's a real easy three-game winning streak, potentially, to help them come into the Iron Bowl locked and loaded. Joe, what a shame about Mississippi State with Taylor. Cliff Bothwell came back last week, ran for over 100 yards. Can you imagine the difference in the season for Mississippi State if Taylor would have been healthy? The turf toe has bothered him all year. Hope he is able to come back next year, but what a season Mississippi State could have had if he'd have stayed healthy. Yeah, what an up-and-down run from kind of off the radar to then all of a sudden everybody knew who they were, and yeah, they looked like they were ahead at big places.

The good news for them is they do still have Vandy and Tennessee Tech on their schedule, so I think six wins still shapes up for them, and honestly, coming into the year, if you'd said six wins in a bowl game, they probably would have said, okay, that sounds pretty good to us, so maybe it ends up kind of in the middle after it started very low and then jumped very high, but yeah, Taylor is just one of a kind, and it's going to be a challenge week-to-week without him, certainly.

Joe, Alabama and Texas A&M, quite frankly, the Aggies outplayed Alabama for three quarters, but something happened entering the fourth quarter and Alabama scores, they were trailing, then they score two touchdowns literally in five minutes, outgained Texas A&M 102-15, eight to nothing in first downs, and Russell got into a rhythm, easier passes, passes to the tight ends and the backs, and I give Marcel Reed credit, I thought he played maybe the best game he's played all year, but Alabama regained their composure, 131-20, now get a much-needed bye week going into Red Stick to play to LSU a week from Saturday.

Yeah, that one's going to be one to circle. You know, the thing for Alabama, their life is so much easier when you get Daniel Hill hot on the ground. Russell's really done a pretty good job throughout the year. I mean, he has his moments of inconsistency, but I saw Reese Davis talking about this and he said, I think Alabama's fine if they can figure out a way to quit making Keelan Russell put on, you know, the Superman cape every time out. If you don't have to lean on him quite so hard, you're going to be in pretty good shape, and I think that's going to be certainly a key off the bye week heading into that next game.

Again, Alabama's another one of those teams that shapes up real well at 9-3. I think that's probably where they're headed and then we're all going to be pulling out whatever hair we've got left because you're going to have four or five, six teams with the same record and you're going, okay, who's in, who's out. Joe, tomorrow is the coaches teleconference where all 16 coaches have about 10 minutes with the media and there's one thing I know they would be glad to say that is basically, okay, Kentucky, you've had a great season, you're 7-1, we've had enough for this crowd, go back to being Kentucky and Will Stein is going to say not so fast, my friend, we're on a roll.

Joe, what about the 7-1 Kentucky Wildcats? Yeah, it's funny because with every win there's still people out there who say this is a fluke, you know, the numbers don't add up here, they don't add up there, well one number that adds up, this team has been phenomenal at creating turnovers and very stingy at giving them away and as long as you do that and you can otherwise stay more or less in the game, you're going to end up in a good place and you know, that's going to be the story moving ahead.

You know, they've got four games left, none of those four are unwinnable. The hardest one probably off there by week will be going to Knoxville just because Tennessee has owned that series recently but, you know, then again, this is a Kentucky team that's doing things that haven't been done there in a hundred years. Tennessee is imposing but they're certainly far from unbeatable. So, you know, for Kentucky it could come down at 7-5, it could come down at 11-1. Let's just guess how about 9-3 right in the middle?

Well, Kentucky, Kentucky fans would have been jubilant if you would have told them they were going 9-3 in August about that. Listen, you've got your season predictions based on the game so far today and then viewer ability or viability a little bit later, Missouri at Arkansas, Mississippi State at Texas, a great game, South Carolina at Oklahoma, I'm going to guess is going to be maybe four or five on your list. Joe, where can we get online to get those articles and everything else? Check it out at Saturday down south and yeah, a short list this week, we've only got five SEC games, might as well just make it easy and watch all of them when you say.

That's what I plan on doing on Saturday, Joe. Always enjoy the conversation, my friend. Have a great week. Absolutely, you do the same. Joe Cox, Saturday down south when we come back, Mr. Las Vegas, Bruce Marshall previewing the top games in college football when we return to the Boom O' Buck Show on 93.9. Let's go. I've always felt that sports imitate life and in both arenas everyone loves a good comeback story. I sold my dynasty almost three years ago and have missed coming to the ballpark every day since.

Once my old team dispersed and our fan base hinted about wanting to come back, we built a new stadium, made some calls to our old players, and signed some new ones off of waivers and trades. Midtown Meat House now has the finest team of butchers, caterers, and sandwich makers in the league and we're planning to win. Brett Beaird in for Harold. Harold, unfortunately, and he and Teresa had a death in the family. Our thoughts and prayers are with him, but absolutely delighted this time of the week. It's him, that Las Vegas guy, Bruce Marshall. Las Vegas Insider for Gold Sheet Wager, Winners and Winers, Picks and Parlays, and quite a few other ones. Bruce Marshall, welcome into the show today, buddy. How are you doing? Yeah, boy, this is kind of fun here. Yeah, it is. Every week, college football, we've got something else going on, isn't that something?

I want to get your thoughts recapping real quick because I've got a lot of games I want to go over with you, but two weeks ago, five of the top seven in the AP poll this past Saturday, six of 16. This is becoming a pattern, a trend, any other acronym you want to come up with. It's been amazing, hasn't it? It has, and I think it's kind of probably now to predict each week what the playoff is going to look like. I know. Because it changes every Saturday and you know, it's very, very hard.

You've got and the one other interesting thing, I think, even the group of six now is getting really, really interesting. Who's going to be the team to come out of that? And you've got some new entrants in there. I mean, it could be New Mexico. That's right. It could be Texas-San Antonio. UTSA could be there. Even the Army. So that's wide open, too. But the only thing you can guarantee is that things are going to change week to week. But one other note, the coaching carousel has started to spin.

Last week, we had three guys bite the dust. And it was almost like that Kansas-Baylor game. Loser leaves town. All they were missing was Vince McMahon promoting it for, you know, for a wrestling show because Kansas lost. I think Leopold would have gotten canned. But we're getting to that time here. All of a sudden, we're seeing some coaches get moved out as well. All right. Before we get into the SEC, I want to ask you about what a lot of people consider to be the national game.

Ohio State at USC in the Coliseum. This is a 6-30 game on NBC Saturday night. For one thing, Luke Fahey may be the quarterback for Ohio State. Tavian St. Clair is the red-shirt freshman. I think the story of this, though, is going to be Lincoln Riley. Wisconsin, Luke Fickle has done an amazing job of revitalizing them finally in year four. They lost, USC lost to Wisconsin last week 24-7. they gained negative 17 yards. Not 117 or 17, negative 17. The seven points was the lowest amount of points a Lincoln Riley team has ever scored.

And I know our whole state's got a little bit of a question, certainly at quarterback. This is a critical game for Lincoln Riley, isn't it? It really is. And, boy, the war drums are beating there. And what I think will eventually have, we'll get the game here in a second, but he's still going to be very marketable somewhere. And from what we hear, he would love to go back to Texas where he's from or his wife's, you know, where his wife's from. There are some jobs opening up there.

I mean, Baylor's opening up there. I'm not sure that's where he'd want to land, but possibly his. The one you'd really want to watch is Texas Tech because that's where he's alma mater. And he's expressed some fondness for that job before. Now, if Joey McGuire could easily get in Cody Campbell's doghouse, like if you read Campbell's tweets after the Cincinnati game, you could, something could happen. And then somebody, this big buyout that Riley has at SC, and there would also be an exit fee if somebody poached him away or I could see some negotiation going on with SC if we'll save you the big buyout, just don't charge us the exit fee, something like that.

[41:41] But no, this is big for Riley and they were bloodied and beaten in that game. They were bullied by Wisconsin, but that has been a recurring theme in the Big Ten for Riley, especially games away from the Coliseum for the last few years and they keep falling short in these games in that same sort of manner, although it was a little more dramatic with the way the offense cratered in that game against Wisconsin. We'll see about this Ohio State game. They catch a break with Sam out there and I'm curious to see what Ryan Day does if it's St.

Clair or if it's Fahey. St. Clair's got a big upside but he looks like he's a little maybe more ready right now. but he's had two weeks to get these guys prepared. They had a bye last week and that Ohio State defense can do a lot what Wisconsin's defense did. I think Robbie's in trouble. I think you're right. Auburn and Ole Miss, the Rebels, a 13 and a half point favorite. This is an early game on the SEC network. LSU just shut down all… so many people talk about the LSU offense and it's very good but the LSU defense is exceptional and Auburn never could run the ball.

In fact, Byron Brown, he ran for 111, 13 yards against Georgia and did practically nothing against LSU but Ole Miss' defense is giving up some yards. 161 rushing yards. I know Pete Golden tweaked it a little bit during the bye week. They've only got 13 sacks. Ole Miss, 13 and a points in Oxford. Do they win and cover? I think they win, Brett. I'm not sure they cover for the reason that you mentioned there because defensively they're not quite as good as LSU. Not near as good. Their calling guard is the other way with Chambliss and Golding's trying to mix and match but I mean the first half against Texas was not good last week for Ole Miss and this defense we've seen time and time again have some problems this season.

Auburn by this point I think we can say there's some limitations here and the offense hasn't worked for Alex Goldish the way it did at South Florida but if Byron Brown can get a little bit of rhythm going and he can put some rushing yards up and that's his deal he likes to get out and run then they're going to be able to sustain some drives. That was the problem last week. They had a couple three and outs right when that game was ready to be decided in the second quarter and they kept giving the ball back to LSU.

But if they can prevent from doing that I think they have a chance to stick within this number. I'm just reluctant in any SEC game to lay two touchdowns against any of these teams. So I would be inclined to lean to Auburn there. Maybe not my favorite game of the week but I could see Auburn staying close and covering. Florida and Georgia and it's not in Jacksonville it's in the Mercedes Dome in Atlanta Georgia 10 and a point favorite. This is the 2-30 game central time on ABC.

Will Tremel Jones get another start in place of Philo? Kirby Smart admitted listen we had basically they had a hangover after the Alabama win. He said we were exhausted beat up we did not play well. He gave credit to Auburn but both of these teams have been on a bye. Florida went out to Austin and beat the Longhorns. Georgia a 10 and a half point favorite and I'm kind of like you I think Georgia wins this game but I don't know if they're going to cover that.

Your thoughts Bruce? Yeah generally I do. Florida had a couple of those bad efforts out there that makes me a little worried about the Gators here but we know they can rise up. Someone is not yet committed to follow Jones as a quarterback for this game. I think I'd stick with Jones if they wouldn't have just me. But we will see what they do. you're right they're playing in Atlanta because they're working on the stadium in Jacksonville. Next year this game is Orlando apparently. They will go back to Jacksonville for a couple years.

So it's you know this is sort of in the Bulldogs backyard here. I still I know Georgia is very you know very resourceful here and they find ways to win. But I'm like you I'm just not sure they're a big margin team here against another quality SEC folks. So I think Florida like we thought with Ole Miss and Auburn can probably stay within that number. I know Florida can win but especially with Jones I mean that was real uplifting at Texas and that game was no fluke either because they were behind and they came back and they were able to run and they were able to do some things.

And Jones actually is kind of a lively playmaker so maybe Florida stays within that number on Saturday. Bruce Marshall Las Vegas insider for the go sheet wager talk. This is an intriguing game to me in the SEC. South Carolina at Oklahoma. Tennessee beats Alabama and they have a hangover go it go to Columbia where they've lost seven of eight games. Well, they've lost another one. South Carolina. Lenore Sellers is playing really well. He's gained 600 yards and eight touchdowns in the last two games. But is the shoe on the other foot now with Tenet with South Carolina getting that huge win and then traveling to Norman.

[47:09] Mateer actually had a good game last week. This is intriguing to me. In fact, Oklahoma three and a half point favorite here. Is the wrong team favored? I think the wrong team is favored. I've watched both these teams. I think South Carolina is flat out better than Oklahoma. Sooners caught a break. I think last week catching, you know, catching Mississippi State without Camario. And that, well, for a couple plays, Camario played many, many results. But for all season long, I've been very unimpressed here. The offense just isn't working that well.

They've bet this number down a little bit. So the marketplace seems to like South Carolina. You're right about Sellers. I think Kendall Bryles figured some things out a few weeks ago, the coordinator. He told them just to get out there and run. That's what you do best. He did that very well against Kentucky. Summel then tried to stop that run a few weeks ago. And Florida played the horses of South Carolina. And Bryles said, Lenores, let's go up top. Four touchdown passes against Florida. Been a complete game last week.

And a great rally against the Volunteers. I think this is a flat-out better team. South Carolina, I think they're going to win outright. And by the way, I think, you know, you mentioned Luke Fickle before. And I'll throw Shane Beamer in there. And I'll throw Norvell in there, too. I think all three of these guys might save their jobs. And I think it's probably looking good for Beamer. If he can win one more here, I think he's out of some trouble. So the hot seat is cooling off in some of these spots.

And I think Columbia is one of them. Arizona at Texas Tech. This is a noon game on ESPN. Noah Fafita, if you have not seen this cat play, leads the Big 12 in pass percentage. They have had a great season. We know what happened last week to Texas Tech getting upset. This is in Lubbock. Texas Tech is a three-and-a-half-point favorite. Has Texas Tech recovered from that upset loss last week? I don't know, but I'm not sure they were that good to begin with this year. I mean, they've been struggling offensively.

And we go back to the Soarsby thing. We've talked about this before. The plan there was to have him be the quarterback. And when that stuff happened, it was too late for them to go out in the portal and get anybody. Except, you know, Castellanos from Florida State showed up there right before school started and the NCAA ruled them ineligible. So they're kind of stuck with Hammond. And he's coming off a knee surgery and he just hasn't looked that great all season. This offense, the numbers are way down from a year ago.

And they did not impress. They haven't been covering point spreads. And they finally got them straight up lost last week against Cincinnati. They just have not impressed that much. And, by the way, Cody Campbell has noticed that as well. Yes, he has. Arizona is one of these teams where all of a sudden the Big 12 is quite a rodeo right now. I mean, you've got Utah there, yeah, but you've got like five teams just one length behind. And a couple of other, like five other ones still have a chance to get in the conference title game.

Arizona is now a playoff contender, especially if they can win this game. You mentioned Fafita. The only game they lost is at BYU, a game they saw the referees, didn't help them. That's kind of a recurring theme in BYU games, isn't it? I think Arizona wins this game. And I like Fafita. Texas Tech's got offensive problems. And by this point, if you're coming up on Halloween and you haven't solved that stuff, you're not going to solve them the rest of the way. This is what they are.

And I think Arizona goes in there and wins it outright. Let me close real quick with you. Northwestern at Oregon. Dante Moore is now out with the season with a concussion issue. And Dan Lanning has never been able to replace the coordinators that he lost, in particularly Will Stein. Northwestern running for 200 yards per game. Oregon is a three-and-a-half point favorite. Again, is the wrong team favored in this game? Absolutely the wrong team is favored. And I think we can start talking about Northwestern as a possible player, believe it or not.

Yeah, I mean, they only got that one loss in Indiana, and they were close in that game. And it is very interesting here. Who did David Braun hire to run his offense? None other than Chip Kelly. That's right. Maybe Lanning should have given Chip a call to bring him back to Eugene instead of the morning from within and then firing the guy. It's kind of typical Lanning looking to throw some guys under the bus. They always should not be struggling this much. I mean, he was a two-year starter at Nebraska for a couple of days in January.

They thought he was going to be the quarterback here until, you know, Dante Moore did the boomerang and decided not to go in the NFL draft. But they've been pathetic on offense lately. They just know they can't get anything going. Northwestern here is, I mean, if they have such a thing as a comeback player of the year, and I'm not sure if it's a comeback, but a surprise player you could label. Aiden Childs, the quarterback, Michigan State, was not all that great the last couple of years.

[52:15] He comes here to Northwestern, and because Chip is calling the game so well, and they are running the ball, and Chip's offense is actually, they're a lot like Lane's offenses. I mean, it's kind of up-tempo where they run. And so they are balancing things out, and Childs looks very comfortable, and a Braun defense is always good. The wrong team is favored. Northwestern goes in there and wins and keeps, I mean, they got a shot. They got a shot to go 11-1, and I think they might get in the big 10 mix, and they have to be a playoff contender if they can keep it going.

Absolutely. Whether it was the new stadium or Chip Kelly, you're right. Something has lit a fire under Northwestern, and I know they ran Penn State out of the stadium a couple weeks ago. Nobody does it better than Bruce Marshall. NFL, college football, Major League Baseball may be wrapped up tonight. NFL, hockey, college basketball beginning next week. So much stuff going on. Fen Church had a judge place an injunction on Alabama power, but that injunction to stop the property takeover was recently lifted by the Alabama Supreme Court.

Church approached Tuberville this past Monday at a Republican event in Shelby County, saying that the bulldozers are already on his property and planning to remove trees on his land that are as old as this country in order to place the power lines and towers where they want them. Tuberville told Fen Church he was aware of his property battle and was doing what he could to help him. [1:03:18] I hope they're coping okay. Be praying for them as they navigate that thing. Grief is a tough thing to go through. Well, you've been through quite a bit of it the last couple of years. And I appreciate your inspirational articles that you have in, particularly on Thursday. A lot of stuff to talk about. But I was looking at the list of the state's undefeated teams. It's something, again, in college, there are only three left in college football. And you look at Class 6A. There's one, Prattville.

They beat Thompson. Class 5A, there are two. Guff Shores and Hillcrest of Tuscaloosa. Class 4A, Northside in Scottsboro. Class 3A among the four is Hatton, who is 9-0. They've got Central, Florence, 8-1. That's a big game on Friday. By the way, that needs to be in your picks Thursday, by the way. Hatton in Central. Plainview, of course, with their two, with that family, 5-2-A. The point of it is, BT, it is amazing now how difficult it is to go undefeated in high school football. It really is, and I think that Hatton Central-Florida game is actually in our picks this week.

So, maybe I can get one right. I haven't kind of fell on the sword last week after having a good run. But, yeah, it's been a good season week. This is it, you know, for the regular season. It's crazy. I think it's going to be really interesting. I was just doing my five things locally down here in Mobile for tomorrow and looking at the different matchups. Starting to look ahead to the playoffs. And, of course, you know, for the first time, we have some buys in the playoffs with the 6-8 region.

So, you know, a team like Thompson, you wonder, Brett. You know, they had a game against Chuktawahatchee, Florida that's supposed to be scheduled this week. It was canceled. But they're going to be off for three weeks before they play another game. I mean, I wouldn't think Mark Freeman would be crazy about that. But we'll see. I mean, yeah, it's been a good run. All those teams you mentioned have had good seasons. But, you know, there's some good teams with one or two losses that are pretty tough as well.

Yeah, and we'll talk about some of those in a minute. I always enjoy Ben's 10. And, once again, the Boomo Bugg is an honorary member of Ben's 10, which we're very proud of. What I like about this is you pick 10 players throughout the state. Not necessarily the fact that they ran for 250 yards. It was the impact they had on the game. Maybe they had a game-winning kick. You had a soccer player earlier this year who wasn't even on the team two weeks before he made the kick. Some of the guys are from our neck of the woods.

Raylan Marbury from Spartman, 231 yards. Jane Rice from Bob Jones, SKU record, 378 yards. Man, Kristen Ritchie from Columbia. And you had that with your five things about week nine. And he ran for 315 yards and 49 carries. They won their first two games. They ended that ridiculous 101-game losing streak. Then they started another losing streak but ended the season beating Lee. Again, we've talked about them several times in the last couple years. Certainly thankful they got the streak in. But, again, to come back and win their last game, that says a lot for this team.

Yeah, you know, I picked them as my surprise team. They finished with three wins, which doesn't sound great. But, considering they had lost 100 times in a row, you know, when they got there. And they ended both their losing streaks, the long streak and the region losing streak. And Christian Ritchie was great. I mean, obviously transferred in there from James Clemens as the principal there. 315 yards on 49 carries last week. I think he was a Ben's 10-member twice. I've got to go back and look. There's been a few people who've made it.

I don't think anybody's made it three times. But there's definitely been a few who've made it twice. And he was one of them. I think four. This week we had five. Usually this was unusual for me. Number one, it had, as you mentioned, a large North Alabama flavor, which wasn't intentional. It was just the guys I saw that impressed me. And number two, we had, I think, five running backs on the squad, on the Ben's 10. And three of them had 200 yards or more rushing, and two of them had 300 yards or more rushing.

And we also like defense. Gus Faulkner from Fairhope had two interceptors, including a 97-yard pick six in the region championship game against Daphne. So I've enjoyed doing that. We're going to keep doing it through the playoffs. And maybe we'll even do it in basketball, Brett. Who knows? You had a great article about basketball as far as who could be Mr. Basketball and just some of the top players. In fact, it's amazing, BT. Basketball begins for college and high school next week. It's amazing that it's here.

[1:08:29] Mr. Football candidates. Jameson Roberts. Sarah Land is one. He's an Oklahoma commit. I was looking at some of the candidates. Cedric Simmons is an Alabama candidate from Selma. Pretville receiver Deshaun Hall is going to Auburn. Nehemiah McCrary. Most people know him as a linebacker from Maplesville. And again, Trent Seaborn from Thompson. I know a lot of people thought he could just go ahead and write his name on there mid-season. But there still are some very viable candidates for Mr. Football. There are. And, you know, as we've talked about in past years, we don't vote on that until after the whole season is over with.

So the playoffs have a big impact on that. I mean, I think there's only been one player, one Mr. Football, whose team didn't make the playoffs. And maybe another whose team lost in the first round. So usually, if you're Mr. Football, you've had a big impact on getting your team at least deep in the playoffs, if not to the state championship game. I do still think Trent Seaborn is probably the leading contender. I mean, he's already the state's all-time leading passer. He's had a great year.

You know, depending on what they do, they'll have some tough games to get through if they win another championship. But also, Jameson Roberts. I mean, it seems like Sarah Land dominated this thing the last five years. They've won it three times. Jameson Roberts is having as good a year as either Ryan Coleman-Williams or K.J. Lacey did. I was looking at this today. He's completed 77% of his passes for almost 2,500 yards and 31 touchdowns. Been intercepted once and ran for six touchdowns. So I don't know. I think the south half of 5A is a little more difficult than it's probably been in past years.

I think it's going to go through Hillcrest, Tuscaloosa probably. But, you know, if Jameson gets his team back in the championship game, you know, he's going to be right up there as well, I think. Absolutely. Just the tip of the cap to some of our local teams, Florence beats Hartzell 35-17 to win Region 7 title outright. Austin-Russell was a big game, Russellville. And, again, what a job Daryl Higgins has done at Russell this year. Going to be fun to watch them in the playoffs. Muscle shows the Smothers boys, Lincoln Smothers now, they beat Athens.

Hard to believe that Athens is not in the playoff with Cody Gross, but it just did not work out this year for them. Colbert County, 7-2. Brent Mask with Lexington, BT, 8-1, 6-1. They beat Sheffield last week. Hadn't I mentioned, remained undefeated. They beat Danville. Dassler is rolling at 8-1, and Addison is another team that's undefeated, made the undefeated list. They beat 8-1 Heckelberg last week. Well, Heckelberg was undefeated now they're 8-1, 33-7. But as you mentioned, the playoffs literally will be here in two weeks, and it's going to be fun to watch that.

What else? You've got so much stuff going on with basketball. Oh, the volleyball state championships this week, Thursday and Friday. A lot of games are on Thursday with a lot of teams trying to get an extra day of preparation. Five questions, I believe, tomorrow for Huntsville, Birmingham, and Mobile. What in the world else have you got going on this week? Man, I also want to mention, Dassler-Mars Hill is a big game. Yes, it is. That's going to be a tough game for me. Hey, Brett, we're on Phillip Rivers' watch down here.

I don't know if you've been following me. Now, is he going to North – just come out with it, Ben. Is he going to North Carolina State or not? I mean, look, Brett, I wouldn't put my – I wouldn't wager my house on it, but if I had a small condominium or something, I think it's probably going to happen. Wow. My guess is it might be announced, you know, this week. I don't know why. My goodness. I just – you know, Phillip has pulled out of the Alabama-Mississippi game where he was supposed to coach.

Yeah. He hasn't said anything. You know, his reply to me yesterday, his only reply for the last three days has been, I know what the chatter is, but we're concentrating on Foley and the playoff. Right. I think it's going to happen. It's going to be really interesting if it does. So we're going to continue to follow that story. And like you said, we've got live updates from the volleyball today, the next three days. We're starting our volleyball. Tom has had a very interesting story on the shot clock and some changes they've made.

You can now host a regular season game without a shot clock this year under certain circumstances, which was not – we weren't thinking that was going to be possible. But anyway, too much stuff to mention, especially today. But check out Randy Kennedy's Best in Bama, obviously, on Thursday. Yep. Football High Live and all that good stuff on AL.com. And good luck with those lousy picks. Now, are you still second? Well, I think I'm tied for second. I think I was 13-7 last week. I just did not – I thought last week was maybe one of our harder weeks.

[1:13:45] Right. It was. But then I thought this week. And then, of course, it's going to get even harder. But when the playoff – you know, with the playoff matchup. So, Dennis Victory is still holding down. Carl Prather is representing North Alabama well in the picks this year. So, we've been glad to have him to the mix. By the way, Carl Prather has a birthday today. I wished him a birthday – a happy birthday this morning. And I noticed that, yeah, he was third, I believe, or second, tied for second or one of them.

BT, have a great week. So many things going on. But you and the staff do a great job covering it. God bless you, brother. All right. Thank you, man. You have a good week, Tal, Harold. I'm sorry I missed it. I'll do it. Ben Thomas does a great job covering high school sports. Hello again, everybody. I'm Roger Hoover. Here are more post-game thoughts from Kalen DeBoer after Alabama's win on Saturday against Texas A&M. Proud of the guys and the way they fought for four quarters and the way they finished, especially.

Just continue to stay with it. And guys coming in and out of the game, you know, they wanted to finish and wanted to be out there coming off the sideline and going out there and giving everything they got. So, you know, different times in the game, it could have gone the other way, but our guys kept finding a way to, you know, make a play and, you know, keep them out of the end zone. And we forced them to kick some field goals and then find ways to get some third downs there in the second half and, you know, keep drives going.

And so a lot of things we can continue to clean up. Are you ready for game day in Tuscaloosa? Don't miss the ultimate pre-game experience this season at Vector Security Champions Lane. If you want to know something about Auburn sports, I cannot think of anyone who does a better job than Brian Matthews, senior editor for AuburnSports.com. In fact, he's been a guest on this show, I think, about 22 years, if I'm not mistaken. B, Matt, welcome into the program, buddy. How you doing? Sounds like I'm getting kind of old. I'm doing all right, despite that. There are a lot of folks in the boat.

Monday Musings, I always enjoy reading it. The same deficiencies that Auburn had in losses to Florida and Tennessee showed up against LSU. Mainly the offensive line, defensive line, and secondary. I could not have put it any better. Your thoughts? Yeah, yeah, and there's nothing really Auburn can necessarily do about it. You know, keep coaching kids up and trying to find different ways to scheme, you know, games up, defensively and offensively, and, you know, create some advantages if they can. But it is tough, you know, when you just can't line up.

You know, going up against the best teams, I'm not saying every team in the SEC, but the better teams in the SEC, you just line up head-to-head, and you're usually losing those battles, at least right now. Auburn going to Oxford against Ole Miss. We know how simulating this Ole Miss offense is. You could see it. They got behind Texas 24-3 and came back and actually tied the game. Texas won the game in the fourth quarter running the ball. The Ole Miss defense, not exactly up to par this year.

They're giving up an average of 161 rushing yards. They've only got 13 sacks. And I'm not trying to say that they're terrible, but with those numbers, can Auburn run the ball against Ole Miss? Yeah, I think there's an opening there. Ole Miss last in SEC in rush defense. Auburn needs to rush the ball to be successful. The only way they can be successful offensively. So maybe there's a chance to scheme some things up with Byron Brown and this tree of running backs on the app and find a way to do a little bit better on first and second down.

[1:24:22] I don't know if you mentioned the stat, but Auburn third and 12 or more eight times against LSU. You absolutely cannot win a game doing that. That's just as bad as they can get, you know, from my many years covering football. That's just awful. So that'd be better on first and second down, clearly. Got to do better running the ball. So that would be a big emphasis for Auburn. I'm sure Ole Miss is trying to shore that up themselves. But it's the other side of the ball.

You know, can Auburn slow down, turn down, Chambliss? I don't know. We'll see. I seem to ask you this question every week. Will the offensive line be the same against Ole Miss as what lined up against LSU? Yeah, that'll be interesting to see because, you know, the left tackle, Jacob Strand, was injured at the game. But Alex Gore said he was fine and said that Ty Buston and other guys have been hurt in the preseason, still not back, still has another couple weeks before he can integrate fully back into practice.

So that's not happening anytime soon. He did give a lot of praise to Jacoby Ward, a sophomore, one of the three returning players on the offensive line from last year, who got in, I think, for around 16 or so snaps at the end of that game. So I guess that's something to keep an eye on. But I'm not expecting, I guess, or fully expecting any major changes there from the previous. I think it's probably been three or four weeks now they've had the same starting group. Do you envision, and again, we all know Byron Brown's going to continue, that's the reason he came to Auburn at quarterback, but do you think Tristan Tia may begin to get a few more reps as we get into November?

Unless they just totally collapse and don't have a chance to win six or seven games, I do not see that happen. I think they are fully invested in Byron Brown. I think they understand the deficiencies on offense, which are keeping him from being as good as he's been in the past. So I don't think they want to make that move. I do think they were not pleased with the loss, but we're pleased to get him in that game at the end against LSU and have him have success.

They do have a decision to make. I don't think the decision has been made. I don't know when they'll make it. But they'll have to decide at the end of the year whether they need to pursue a quarterback or not. They've got Tia coming back. They've got two other players currently on scholarship, and they've got a kid committed, Gary Chapman, in the 2027 class, I think it is. So they potentially could have four quarterbacks. I don't know that all three will return, but there's also the potential that they go out and spend some money and sign a top guy.

But they're going to have to spend money on the offensive and defensive line, too, if they're going to have a chance to compete next year. Trying to put a positive spin on this. Who actually played pretty well against LSU? Oh, boy. You had to think about that one, didn't you? Yeah, I thought Tristan Tia came in and played well in his time. Nate Johnson is a kid that we talked to today. He was really signed as a backup edge type guy, but he told us that he's playing a lot more.

He called it four-eye, which means you're playing inside at one of those defensive tackle positions. He seems to be adapting okay to that. He's not the perfect size for that, but they've been struggling there as far as their depth at defensive tackle and defensive end. They've been moving a lot of pieces around trying to find good fits there. He's a guy that I guess you could say that played fairly well. Nobody else really stands out to me. The secondary really struggled. There are too many missed tackles defensively.

The offensive line struggled. There are dropped passes. You know, I will say this. I say it kind of jokingly. But for Byron Brown to be sacked seven times and the offense to be that poor and not turn the ball over is one of the greatest quarterback games I've ever witnessed at Jordan-Hare Stadium. But, you know, just for him to hold on to the ball was a good job by him. Yeah, I know you're not making light of that, but when you consider it, you're exactly correct.

A lot of things going on right now. Basketball's had an interesting week on and off the court. On the court is going to be happening. Isn't it amazing? We begin the regular season. Hopefully he'll be back tomorrow ahead of death in his family. I thought about this young man Saturday when one of the biggest upsets in years, certainly this year, when Central Florida stunned No. 2 BYU 39-31 in two overtimes. Matt Michelle covers UCF, College Insider for the Orlando Synodal. Hosted a Gridiron 365 podcast. You have got the floor. Explain what you saw Saturday night with that upset. Yeah, it was quite the event. And it really kind of did, it came down to a bunch of crazy calls, crazy plays, and then a game that went into overtime and finally doubled overtime before UCF found a way, you know, to knock off No. 2 BYU 39-31.

It's hard to explain. Like I said, I think going into the week, you had a feeling that UCF, you know, this was their chance to make their case, you know, to showcase themselves. And it really kind of was what they were able to do. Their offense played really well early on, and the defense stepped up. And they were able to be kind of a constant pain for BYU quarterback, Bear Bachmeier. And, you know, because of that, they were able to stay in the game. And when it got down to the final end of it, you know, they were able to make the plays to win the game.

And, you know, it was an incredible scene as the fans stormed the field, you know, and kind of, you know, enveloped the team and Scott Frost. And this was a monumental win for them, you know, because this was a win that basically legitimized, you know, a lot of the things about going to the Big 12. You know, they needed a signature win in the Big 12. And this was it. And now you can kind of take that deep breath for a second, you know, before let's start back up again and get ready for Baylor on Friday.

But, you know, I felt like this was a win not just for the program, but also for Scott Frost, you know, who was taking a second return to the program, had to have any sort of win like this since the first time around. This felt very much like the 2017 season when miracle things happened for this team. It was very much that way on Saturday night against BYU. Well, I know that he cherishes the win. I thought it was the epitome of the entire college football season.

It has been absolutely crazy at what has happened. And listen, the Big 12, five teams now with one loss or fewer. Of course, Utah undefeated. BYU, Arizona, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, what a season the Big 12 is having. Yeah, you know, you talk about parity and we've talked about this I think the last couple of years and, you know, Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yomark has talked about this as well. This conference has had parity. You know what I mean? You look at where they want to be and I think this is a good sign for them in a lot of ways.

Now, that being said, you know, they still have some work to do. You know, they would like to get more than one team in the college football playoff this year. Whether that's going to happen or not remains to be seen. Utah is the only undefeated team. But, you know, BYU has one loss. Arizona has one loss. Texas Tech has one loss. You know, they're going to have to find a way to, you know, one of those teams is going to have to find a way to get some wins to get into that 12-team playoff if it's going to happen to get two teams.

[1:40:22] So, it's been a great year. You know, I mean, Oklahoma State, we haven't talked about Houston. We haven't talked about their length as well. To have that many teams ranked is outstanding for them. And I think they would like to continue to see that. But as we know, as demonstrated by the SEC, you know, that eventually you start beating up on each other and some of that goes away. So, it's going to be interesting to see how the rest of the season finishes out for this conference.

Did you ever, in your wildest dreams, think we would get to Halloween and there would only be three undefeated teams? UCLA, maybe Miami, and Utah? I did not. I did not think we would get, I thought we'd have a few more undefeated teams. Again, it just shows the parity in football right now. And you see how the impact of the transfer portal, you see the impact of NIL, how teams are able now to build rosters, you know, money, and you're seeing how teams are able to get players that can kind of help them out.

it's become a crazy year where you're looking around thinking, okay, you know, it used to be you'd have maybe four or five or six undefeated teams going into a playoff and then maybe a few one-locked teams. Well, now you're looking around and it's easy to say you're going to have at least a few two-locked teams, maybe a three-locked team going into this year's playoff based on how things have gone because it's impossible. You've seen how these teams have caught and caught and gone. You know, the AP poll has been just shattered the last few weeks.

You know, the top three has come and gone and so it's going to be that way again this weekend. You know, you look at the challenge that's up there, there are going to be some teams that are probably going to end up losing this weekend that were higher up because just the way things have set up. You know, you look at Georgia-Florida game coming on, you look at Ohio State and USC, Ohio State's got a quarterback situation. You know, you look at Texas Tech and Arizona as I mentioned, you've got some teams right now that are going to be playing each other that are going to knock each other out and I think that's going to make the selection committee for the college football class a very hard job when they start doing it in the middle of November.

Who in the world would have ever thought Kentucky would be 7-1 leading the SEC? Even a team like New Mexico, Jason Eck, E-C-K is how he spells his name, they beat North Dakota State last week. They're in the thick of the G-6 playoff berth. It is absolutely amazing. And then the job at UCLA to resurrect that program. I tell you one thing, what we saw coming in September and it's come to fruition in October, my lord, we've already seen October, we're not Halloween. Can you imagine what's going to happen in November?

Yeah. I mean, you mentioned Kentucky. Kentucky's a great story. Will Stein comes in, a guy that people thought he came from Oregon, people said, okay, let's see what happens. They roll off six wins, they look impressive doing it, put up some big wins. They've got themselves in the hunt and the SEC. You mentioned New Mexico. New Mexico's a great story as well, trying to find a way to maybe get into that playoff mix as well. It's been in UCLA. I mean, UCLA is a team that, you know, Bob Chesney comes in, he did great things like James Madison, now he's the same sort of thing.

It goes to show you too, Brett, that because as I mentioned with the transfer portal and money and how things are working, you can flip a roster now pretty quickly and you can have some of the success. You can find the right guys and if they mesh well, you can have some of that success. And I think that goes to show you how important it is to be finding that right coach. And that's why when schools make changes, they fire coaches, I'm always saying you got to hope you have that right guy in mind because if you don't, you're going to find out very quickly how well that's going to struggle.

You're exactly right. Going to be very interesting, Florida and Georgia in Atlanta and Noddy and Jacksonville, both teams have got to buy. Going to be interesting to see how that comes out on Saturday too. Matt, great stuff. Congratulations. I'm delighted for you to get, in fact, Matt Michelle is a good friend of ours. He follows Florida and the Gators. He takes me over there and said, I can't wait to hear Matt because he had a nephew and the nephew's son were on the field during the field storming episode.

And I would imagine UCF is absolutely delighted to pay that fine. I don't know if the Big 12 finds their teams like the ACC does, but that had to be an incredible moment. But where can we get all your good stuff? Yeah, it's something I haven't seen in quite some time. It's interesting that it happened. Yeah, you can follow along. You go to orlandosentinel.com or you can follow me on social media, or let's Matt Michelle. Absolutely. Matt, always enjoy the conversation, my friend. Have a great week.

And welcome back to the Boomo Bugg Show. Harold, unfortunately not here today. Hopefully he'll be back tomorrow, but Billy Robinson is here right now to tell us about Midtown Meat House. Billy's one of the new sponsors of the Boomo Bugg Show. We had the pleasure of introducing him to our audience last week, and every time I look at his Facebook page, I get hungry. Billy, welcome in the show, bud. How are you doing today? Hey, Brett. Thank you for having me. I'm doing great. How are you doing?

Billy, I will give you the floor. Tell us about an incredible place, catering the holidays. You had homecoming for UNA. You have got take-home meals, pick-up meals. Tell us about Midtown Meat House. Yes, sir. We try to be everything for everyone. So we started as just being the butcher shop with the best cut that you can get in this area. And the reason I say it's the best cut you can get in this area, I mean, you can buy ribeye steak at 20 different places in Florence or in the Shoals.

But the beef that we provide is an Evans Reserve beef that comes out of Iowa and southern Minnesota. So it's a USDA black Angus. And it is not only the best that because we say it is, we have the science to back it up. And that's really the core to all of our products. Because we use those, our products from the butcher shop for our catering business as well. And we just think that makes the flavor even better. Quality food, you cannot beat that. Who, what, when, and where.

[1:51:19] Tell us where. Facebook, your telephone number, social media. Where can we find out more information and all the great specials you've got? Yeah, of course. Yeah, Facebook and Instagram are definitely our two most popular spaces that we advertise. You can always call us at 256-284-7702. But, you know, we really like to see you in person. We're at 123 Magnolia Street here in downtown Florence. And we're open five days a week, Tuesday through Saturday. Saturdays we open up a little bit earlier so that way we can get the game day crowd in here.

And then we close up shop a little bit earlier so we can go watch some of the football games too. Amen to that. Listen, Harold mentioned this last week, holidays are coming up, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas parties, so many events going on in November and December. And I'm guessing that you and your staff can help out with catering for all of those events. Yes, sir. We say we want to take that off your plate so your guests can take it off of your plate again. You know what I'm saying?

Yes. Yeah, absolutely. We're definitely going to have a, especially through our Facebook, and that will be the main area that we advertise, but we'll put our holiday menus out there for Thanksgiving. We're going to put it on actually at the end of this week for all the items that we're going to have for Thanksgiving. And then, you know, we're really looking forward to Christmas because Christmas is just always a very special time for us. A lot of times people do, you know, traditional hams and turkeys around Thanksgiving and that's not really our wheel house, although we do, you know, have some of those items, just not as much as the big box stores, but whenever it comes to Christmas, I mean, people love beef at Christmas.

So if you're wanting whole beef tenderloins or Chateaubriand or bone-in rib roast or prime ribs, all of those things, we are the place to come to get your holiday meals. But, Billy, I'll be honest with you, I've got a couple of friends of mine who they cook steaks. Fish, they do something a little bit different for Christmas, and I understand exactly where you're coming from. Again, tell us about the location, your hours, and where can we find you on social media. Okay, yeah, we're at Midtown Meat House on Facebook and Instagram.

Our address is 123 Magnolia Street. We're in the old Outlaw Sushi building, so a lot of people are familiar with Outlaw Sushi. We took over where they used to operate out of. Our hours, we're open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and on Saturdays, we're open from 9 until 4. Wonderful. Listen, have a great week. I hope to come by and see you, if not this week, next week. Thank you for your time. Always enjoy the conversation, and have a great week. Yes, sir. You do the same.

Thank you very much for having me. Thank you. Billy Robertson, Midtown Meat House. That's going to do it for today's show. Been a lot of fun. James Moody does an incredible job. He and Blair do a great job of producing all of our shows. For James, Blair, Harold, and Greg, thank you very much for your time today. Paul Feinbaum is next. Have a great day and a great week, everybody.
