Hello everyone, Kevin Johnson, voice of the Florence Falcons, and welcome to the T&T Fireworks pre-game show. Tonight, broadcast 162 for yours personally. Hope that you're having a great Thursday afternoon, beautiful day in Florence, Alabama, and joined out by a color analyst, a good friend, Mike Albertson.

And Mike, touch of fall finally comes to the air a little bit, start to feel like football, high school football, time to be excited. Even if it's a Thursday night, let's kick this thing off. Oh, absolutely. You know, after a couple big wins, the Falcons are out here, and the weather's perfect. Really come out to Brawley Stadium and check out a nice 7-8 matchup here. But really and truly, you know, there's no better weather, and there's no better place to be right now. If you are about in the Shoals area, say, man, I want to catch a high school football game, come to Brawley Stadium.

It'll be a fun night. You'll like it. You'll enjoy it. Fans are already filing in tonight. It's first responders night. We'll talk about that more as well. It's going to be a great night and a great opportunity to see some great athletes. If you've never seen a Class 7-8 game, it's always fun to see that as well and see one of the teams from Huntsville come over and take on the Florence Falcons. Hope that you'll join us tonight at Brawley Stadium. And, Mike, if you would have told KJ a month ago the Falcons would be where they are in the region, I'm not sure I'd believe you.

I mean, this is unbelievable to turn around. You know, I would have to agree. You know, the way that they started, they played a couple really tough teams in, you know, in Hillcrest, Tuscaloosa, and Muscle Shoals, and really couldn't get much going on offense. It was really a struggle for them, and they were kind of outmatched early on. And as the season has gone on, they've really improved, and, you know, a lot of things on the offensive side. The defense has stepped up quite a bit, and they found some playmakers.

And so being able to shore up some things and improve as the season has gone on, they find themselves, you know, tied for the top of the region right now, which, you know, again, halfway through the season, you're going, look, that's a great position to be in. And so the Falcons have worked hard to get here, and hopefully they keep rolling. Let's be honest about it. We lost games 34-7, 35-7, 34-6, I think it was. So it was almost three games we lost with the exact same score, and yet you turn around and you look and this Falcons team circled the wagons, and, you know, I have to tip the hat to Kenny Marson.

I mean, when it looked like the wheels were falling off, he pulled the wheels back on, circled the wagons, and this coaching staff pushed the right buttons at the right time last week and in the past few weeks. Oh, absolutely. You know, early on, you know, the coaching staff, even though they were struggling, they knew that there were things that they could work on, but they really believed in this team, and they were talking about it the entire first part of the season, even with their struggles.

So, you know, as the Falcons are starting to prove the coaches right, you know, because they've practiced, and they know what this team is capable of, and the coaches, again, started pushing the right buttons, you know, even with that jumbo package last week with running out there and Bo Berski being able to leak out to catch that pass and find the pylon for the touchdown to take the lead last week. Like, they know their personnel well, and they're starting to use them in very unique ways and special ways, and the Falcons have executed and been able to come away with some victories, even when they probably might have should have lost.

I'm going to bring Jeffrey Jones in right quick, our sideline reporter. JJ, you doing okay? You've had a lot of week of traveling. You doing all right? I'm doing great. You're a great Thursday night for football. I agree with that. You know, the reason I'm bringing JJ in, Mike, I want you in on this as well, that is, one of the things I've noticed is how much this staff is loving each other. They get along great, and I know that sounds weird, but last week when they won, they were celebrating with one another as much as the team was.

JJ, you were on the sidelines. That's real, true, genuine fellowship amongst those guys. Well, and last week, that's a good point, and last week was a hard-earned win. You know, Cade McGuire, that's his old school, and so it was very – it meant a lot to him. It meant a lot to Coach Driggers, and, you know, these guys are around each other a lot, and they have very good camaraderie. A lot of them are new. You know, a lot of our offensive staff is new this year, so they all know each other very well.

[5:19] They knew each other very well when the season started, but they've kind of faced some adversity together at the beginning of the season. They've rallied and figured out what they need to do to get these boys motivated and in the right direction, and I tell you, seeing Cade on the sidelines, you know, talking to his former players over there at James Clemens was – it just goes to show the kind of person he is, and he's a players coach, and he's still a young guy, you know, and I'm not sure they – they probably look at him as an old man, but he's only a couple years out of the high school playing days himself, and, you know, he was from across the river and came over here, and he's embraced Florence, and Florence has embraced him, and we are headed in the right direction.

At this point, you know, my thoughts are we've got to do what we can to keep him happy, you know, let him stay, because he's done an outstanding job. He's an outstanding young individual, and we're just glad to have him over here on the side. Mike Albert said about this coaching staff too, when the coaches love one another like that, and it's genuine, and you see that they really get along, that is seen by players, and they see that as well. So, you're not asking just the team to come together, but when the staff comes together, man, something special can happen right there.

Oh, absolutely. You know, you really have to take the lead from the leaders. So, as the coaches are showing these players, you know, kind of what it's like, you know, it's that servant leadership right there that these coaches have now partaken in, and they're showing these players what it's like to really join together for one common mission, and the players have really glommed onto that and have done a great job to really fight through some of the adversity and really believe in each other, and that's all it takes is the team believing, in themselves and each other, to really come away with something special.

Earlier this afternoon, I sat down with Coach Kenny Morrison to get his thoughts on tonight's big matchup in region play against the Grissom Tigers. Here are the thoughts from the head coach of the Florence Falcons. Joined on by head coach Kenny Morrison of the Florence Falcons, and Coach, Thursday nights have been nice to you last week. Let's see if we can do it again. Yeah, we've kind of fallen into a little routine with this Thursday night stuff, and it's worked out last week. We'll see if we can mimic that same thing.

Big win for you on the road last week, and puts you in great position going for the stretch run here, but first things first, a really good Grissom team, better than a record winner coming in. Yeah, we've preached to our guys all week long that we've got to not look at their record. We've got to treat them like the Green Bay Packers, and we've got to come in, and again, we've always talked about working on us, and we've done that this week, but we haven't changed any of our routine, so we're still working like this is a championship run for us, and a championship team coming in tonight.

What has your team learned the past couple of wins that you've had? That they're together as a unit. There's a lot of leadership in the building that's showing through in adverse situations, which is really big for championship-type teams, and I think they've realized that they may be better than they thought they were, and we've been preaching that to them that we've got a really good football team in this locker room, and we've just got to prove it on the field and prove it to themselves. Speaking with Coach Kenny Morrison of the Florence Falcons, and Coach, as you get ready for this Grissom team, confidence is a big thing in football, and you see it growing on both sides.

You talk about that. Where do you see that really helping you out? In the special teams area, too. We've not had, as soon as I say this, we'll have a foul-up tonight, but we've had very few busts in the special teams. Our special teams, we've always put a lot of attention to it, and the kids have taken a lot of ownership in being on those special teams, whether they're a starter or a backup. So really love what we're doing in that area. We're not running guys out there and missing players, and even when guys are injured, we get a guy that's ready to go in because he knows that he's the backup.

So a lot of attention to that detail-wise on the special teams side. Talking with Coach Kenny Morrison of the Florence Falcons, and Coach, before I let you go, this region, you've said it all year long, anybody on any given night can beat anyone. We know that. And so tonight we're the favorite for the first time maybe in a couple weeks. How do you approach your team before the game? Well, I wish AL.com and our own hometown newspaper would continue to pick us to get beat.

It kind of fuels our guys. And, you know, we don't look at that. Again, we've got to be prepared to play regardless of who rolls in this stadium. And the guys know what's at stake. I mean, we've got an opportunity. We really feel like James Clemens is going to hold up their side of it. And they've got Spartan tomorrow night and then Austin to follow. And I really feel like James Clemens is one of the top teams in this region. And they could take care of business on that side and leave us in a good opportunity with a tiebreaker over them to be region champs.

But Grissom's standing in the way. We could foul it up in one ballgame. Well, it's going to be a good one tonight. First responders tonight. I know that's special to you as well. Absolutely. It's a great night to recognize our military and our fire police, ambulance, all our people that are first responders. It's always been a great event. It was something that's been going on at Florence for a while. And we've just continued that tradition. And we're excited about tonight. We've got some coin toss, honorary captains at the coin toss.

[10:47] It's going to be special tonight that we haven't done before. So, it'll be a great night for football in this football weather. We need to get out and support these Falcons and support our first responders at the same time. Coach, best of luck, okay? Thank you. The head coach of the Florence Falcons, Coach Kenny Marson. You're listening to the TNT Fireworks pre-game show back in one minute. It's football time in Alabama. The players are hitting the field. The cheerleaders are firing up the crowd. Welcome back to the TNT Fireworks pregame show of Florence Falcons football. Kevin Johnson, the voice of the Falcons. Glad to be with you along with my good friend Mike Albertson, live from Brawley Stadium where the Falcons and the Tigers of Grissom are warming up for tonight's Thursday night kickoff to the weekend of great football.

High school, college, and NFL. It'll be a lot of fun this weekend with a lot of great football. And it starts tonight here at Brawley Stadium. And Mike, J-Shot Pearson last week electrified the Falcons when they needed it most. Boy, when it looked like the Falcons were just on their last breath in that game, out of nowhere, number two shows up. Yes. At the end of the third quarter there, James Cummins kicked a field goal. And, you know, on the ensuing kickoff, J-Shot Pearson took it about 95 yards in for a touchdown.

That game was – we really didn't have much going on offense, and we really needed a big play. And J-Shot stepped up. You know, blocking went great down the field, found himself a lane and just raced to the pylon for the touchdown, making it a one-score game, making it 17-14 at that point. And really, the momentum went all Florence's way after that. And so they wound up having that playmaker make a big play when the lights were the brightest. I'll give their kicker for James Clemens credit.

He was the last man waiting for J-Shot Pearson. And he was right between the numbers maybe and the sideline. And he was like, I'm going to force you maybe – maybe even at the numbers. He was going to force J-Shot to go to the sideline. He said, yeah, I'm going to force him to the sideline because he didn't want him to get back to the wide side. And it looked like J-Shot would just come back to the wide side of the field. J-Shot slowed that thing down and then one step, and he went right down the sideline right by him.

The kid never touched him. It was impressive. It certainly was. It was one of those moves where, you know, I mean, we've seen J-Shot do similar things on the basketball court where you just kind of load them to sleep and then, boom, that burst of energy that little – hit the little turbo button and just ran right by him. It was just – it was something to see, and the kicker had no chance at that point. He was on his heels and it was over. Mike, the Falcons have to get their running game going, not just for tonight but for the rest of the season.

It's been – I don't want to say nonexistent, but it's got to do better than it's been doing. It's got to get more yardage, and they know that. Tonight is a big night where they could really build on that. Absolutely. They have a great opportunity to work on a few things during this game. First things first, let's get an early lead, and then you can really start scheming some different things. But early on, you know, our run game worked really well against Bob Jones. It was just one of those things that, especially in the third quarter, we kind of took over the whole quarter and started running a ton of clock, and it was super important to be able to do that.

When you can control the run game, then the passing game opens up. It just really – it opens up everything for the Falcons. And so being able to get that going today is going to be super important because you need balance. And when you have balance, you keep these defenses honest. And being able to run the ball effectively is going to have to be a priority this week. Well said there by Mike Albertson. Jeffrey Jones is our sideline reporter. He's already jumped in once with us. Let's bring you back in.

And, J.J., last week you might have walked five miles during that game. I'm not sure, but that was an exciting comeback this team will remember for a long time. It was a fun five miles, and I'll do it any time to see a game and a win like that. That was very impressive. I mean, I was a little concerned first and second – all the way through the third quarter and whatnot, but we turned it on. And like Coach Morrison said in the post-game interview, these guys showed that they were not going to quit.

[15:55] And it's very impressive because, you know, when you're backs against the wall like that, we were down 17-7. And, you know, it's easy to get your dauber down, especially when your offense is struggling, can't really get in rhythm on offense. And, you know, the defense showed up, did very well the whole game. And so, you know, I'm proud of the defense for kind of taking the brunt of it. And then, you know, when the offense got together, when they needed some big plays after the kick return, they got them.

And that was, you know, it was great to see. One thing that I have to give John McDaniel credit on this, you know, sometimes we're not used to winning games like that. You know, we've come out on the short end of that multiple times over the last few years. It was very frustrating. We packed our suitcase several times when we got down like that. Yeah, and, you know, that's how teams get better and that's how you become an elite program is you learn to win those games and you expect to win those games.

And so this team, you know, and it all goes – I think it all goes back to the Bob Jones game. You know, I think against James Clemens, we went in there with a little bit less intimidation because, you know, let's be honest, James Clemens and Bob Jones, they're very – they're bigger schools than we are and they've kind of a little bit owned us over the years, you know, as far as the win-loss records. But we stepped up and, you know, I think this team right here is going to show for the next few years that Bob Jones and James Clemens, they're not a big brother.

They're equal if not lesser than. I like the way you talk about that there, Jeffrey Johnson. This team did make big plays last week and they did it because they have some leadership. How big is the leadership on this team? So both sides of the ball, there's leaders that are emerging that I really didn't anticipate. You know, I mean, I knew there were good kids and decent athletes, but, you know, I've got to hand it to players like Bo Burski. Bo Burski's really stepped up the last few weeks and, you know, he's a good-looking kid.

He's got good skills. He's not scared to get in there and hit. Chase Winkles, you know, young guy. He's done great. You know, of course, we have Walt Barrett on defense. You got the Jake White down there, yeah. Yeah, Cade Davis on offense. Those to go without mentioning. But, you know, another, Jimmy McDonald. He had a good game last week. And another one that's a sophomore, Elijah Hines. Very proud of what he's been able to do. He's a little undersized, but he's very fast. And he brings something different to the scenario than Kaelin Triplett.

So I'm really excited to see those guys. And I really do think that if we sub out correctly. Oh, Rhett Wilburn's another one I need to mention. He's stepped up and done a great job as well. But if we – I say, like, pull out the Alabama or just run the ball. Run the ball tonight. Keep the clock going. Use it to our advantage. And rely on some of these seniors and juniors that have been instrumental in this turnaround to do their thing. I'd appreciate it if you'd get that word down to Auburn about run the ball.

But that's another story there as well. Hey, let's talk about leadership too. Last thing is tonight, Florence is honoring some great leaders in our city as well and in our country. As they honor those special leaders in our city on first responders night. We have numerous theme nights. I think – I believe, to be honest with you, every home game is a theme, which that's the trend these days in college and high school level. But this one's special. This one's special to everybody. Because what these first responders do, a lot of them are unsung heroes that, you know, they go out and save lives when they leave here.

I go watch SportsCenter. They go out and save lives when they leave here. So it's one of those things that they deserve to be honored. You know, veterans and first responders, they're always near and dear to my heart. And I'm looking forward to seeing the patriotism tonight. And I guarantee you this, there will be at least three American flags carried by the Florence Falcons when they run out of the tunnel tonight. Very impressive. Indeed, that is for sure. Well, tonight I also want to say a big thank you to our good friends at Lost Pizza.

We got to pick up the food tonight. Mike and I did. And they went above and beyond. And there's such good people there. And they take care of us. They'll take care of you as well throughout the weekend. Lost Pizza, right by Shulls Theater, downtown Florence. Go by and tell them KJ and friends sent you that way. And you will enjoy it. I'll tell you someone else you'll enjoy listening to tonight. It's my good friend James Moody. He's in the 93.9 The Score studios. Thursday night he'll be giving you a lot of updates.

And James, take it away. Thank you, Kevin. Yes, we have actually have about a five-game slate of localish teams that we'll be following. We've got Tanner and Decatur Heritage, Hazel Green and Lee, New Hope and Madison Academy. Decatur and Mae Jemison, Westminster Christian in Madison County. We'll be keeping track of those games tonight. We also have college football. We have Eastern Carolina and Tulane. We have Jack State and Sam Houston State. Southern Miss and Georgia Southern. We also have baseball. Right now the Phillies and the Dodgers are scoreless in the fifth.

If the Dodgers win, they go on to the National League Championship Series. And later there's the Brewers and the Cubs. And we'll actually have the rest of that after the Florence broadcast. And Thursday night football tonight, Eagles and Giants. So we've got a cornucopia of sports to follow here tonight right here during the game. So back to the stadium for more of the pregame show. Thank you, James Moody. The best in the business. Appreciate him being with us tonight on 93.9 The Score. He'll be with you tomorrow night as well for the high school football show from 10 to 12 for the AHSAA scoreboard show.

[21:17] And he'll be giving you updates on that. And we're down the stretch looking forward to it in great high school football. Mike Alberson, one of the reasons Florence is here where they are tonight at the top with two other teams in the region is because a young man named Cade Davis, quarterback, confidence growing, accuracy growing. But he's also getting time to throw. You've got to give him some credit up front. Oh, absolutely. You know, early on it was pretty tough. We played some really tough defenses and they wound up blitzing quite a bit.

It was really the passing game couldn't get off with any sort of continuity or success. So we went back to the drawing board. We played a couple teams, a couple games. But Cade wound up getting some time, getting some rhythm, being able to set his feet. When he's able to set his feet, he delivers a beautiful ball, being able to use his mechanics and everything. But also credit to him, you know, even when he is getting pressured, he's staying in there. And sometimes after he delivers that throw, he'll take a hit.

But he's doing that for his team. And so Cade Davis, overall, just great leadership shown, you know, especially early on. You know, he was swapped out a little bit. But being able to kind of brush that off and just continue to do his job and improve, you know, my hat's off to him to continue to be a great leader and competitor out there. Big thank you to our friends at Garner Pierce Autos for our courtesy vehicles when we go on the road. They take care of us.

They've got a couple more road games to take care of us for. We appreciate them so very much. That's Garner Pierce Auto in Florence. Let's welcome our statistician, John McDaniel. John, how are you doing tonight, my friend? Man, doing great. It's good to be here. Thursday night special. Here we go. Let's talk stats for a few minutes. One of the keys last week was just four penalties for the Falcons on the road. What does that say to you when you look at that and realize we just had four penalties last week?

Well, it's an exceptional game by the Falcons. But it says they're locked in. It says that they're focused on the details, that they've been practicing the fundamentals. The coaches have been working them in the fundamentals. And I think that's what contributes to good football is being really good, not at these exotic schemes, but the small details, where to place your hands. We didn't have the holding penalties that we've had at times. Four penalties. We had two in the first half and two in the second half, evenly spaced.

Not beating yourself is always a good thing. And one was on the very first play of the game. It was on a kickoff when we knocked him out of bounds, got a late hit on the out of bounds. So, really, after the first play, only three penalties for the rest of the game. That just speaks a lot about this team growing up a little bit, doesn't it? It says you're getting better. I mean, we haven't always had that. We've had some years in the past we've had a problem with penalties.

You know, just the week before, we had 11. And so, being able to cut those down, focus on them. I think that the things like that, focusing on the lack of penalties or not having them, is done in practice, and it carries over. John, stat number two I want to talk about. Florence defense was on the field last week for 27 minutes plus. Gave up 333 yards. But most importantly, only 17 points. Talk about this, Ben, but don't break defense. You know, that's an incredible job. Well, look, that's obviously more time than the other team is spending on the field.

Your potential to get worn down is certainly there. But I think if I looked at it correctly, we had three drives. They held them to three drives, three possessions in the whole second half. So, our offense and defense was working together. But it's a terrific job. Our guys forced a couple of turnovers last week. Actually, I think we actually had more than that. But two turnovers. But to keep those guys, kick the field goal, you know, for when you're on the field that much more than your other team, you're really doing a good job of just, you know, closing down the lanes and fighting for every blade of grass, really.

I think that's a big part of it as well. And, I mean, it was like 60-plus snaps for James Clemens and only 30-something snaps for Florence. And so, your defense out there twice as often. But they really stepped up and made the plays. And, as you said, forced three turnovers. I think it was final in the game. So, congratulations on that defense. And Coach Harold Wisdom continues to do a good job with them. John, we noticed last week, too, after our Thursday night game, upsets happen weekly.

And you see it in our region. It happened last week twice in our region, I felt like. Can't sleep on this game tonight with Grissom, no matter the record. Well, you know, we always talk about upsets. And they're more common in high school and college because you're dealing with young men, you know, with 14, 15, 16, 17-year-olds. You know, there's a lot of things going on, sometimes outside their control or sometimes things they might be doing in the classroom or et cetera. You know, always you can have upsets.

And if a team comes in not locked in, like tonight, I would imagine, I haven't looked at it, Kevin, you'd be more focused in on what the spread is tonight. But between Grissom, they're probably not favored. But if the Falcons think they can come in with a, hey, we just show up, roll our helmets out, they've got some playmakers. They've got some extremely good athletes as we watch them warming up out here. A few guys they've got could definitely play on anybody's team. So, if you show up thinking all you've got to do is make it to the stadium, Grissom will come out with a win and embarrass you.

[26:38] Well, there used to be a show on called Leonard's Losers. How about Preacher's Pigs? I'll take the Falcons tonight. Don't know what the spread is, but I do know Falcons, I think, are the favorites tonight. Come into this one. Shout out to our good friends at Lost Pizza again. They'll take care of you throughout the weekend. May I suggest getting one of those great pizzas they have. They have some of the best pizzas around, and they have some incredible ways to fix them as well. Go by and tell them K.J. and Francine lost pizza in historic downtown Florence.

That's it. A 20% scholarship to UNA. When bank independent invests in students like me, they're investing in all of us and the future of our community.

Bank independent. We're invested in your future. Member FDIC. Back at Raleigh Stadium, the TNT Fireworks pregame show of Florence Falcons football kicking off the high school season this week. And we're looking forward to it. It should be a lot of fun. Kevin Johnson with you on the call along with my friends here on 93.9 The Score. Glad that you're listening in. And you can listen by downloading the 93.9 Score app. Download the app. Listen to it on your phone, your computer, anywhere you go. And so many people have reached out to me in the past couple weeks and go, man, we were listening to you.

We were listening to you. I want to give a shout-out to a teacher that just retired, but he still teaches some at Florence High School, Mr. Will Townsend. He was listening the other night. He said, when I started listening, it was when J. Sean Pearson ran the kickback. He said, it's all my good luck. So, hey, listen to the whole game tonight, Mr. T. We'd appreciate that. That is for sure. Mike Albertson, the slant pattern last week was big for Florence. This passing game can now add on to that and become even more dangerous.

It's going to be fun because that slant pattern is going to catch the eyes of Grissom for sure. Absolutely. You know, you get the safeties, you get the linebackers, you get the defensive backs all looking towards this one area. And, you know, it can help the tight ends and running backs leak out, you know, out of the backfield and out of their blocking positions and just being able to find some green space. But also, you know, after a few slants, you know, they start creeping in a little bit.

You can try the old sluggo. You know, you go in and boom, you know, hit that deep pass in the corner. And Kate Davis has plenty of arm for it. And we have the wide receivers that are able to run that a little bit. So, I mean, you can really work off of that a little bit. But being able to have that first, you know, being able to just have a simple snap back there, the quarterback deliver a beautiful ball to the wide receiver there, that's going to be a nice play.

But adding on to it, it's going to be huge. John McDaniel, this region is wide open. Six teams, all fighting for four spots. I don't know hardly any other region like that right now. And, I mean, it's all jumbled up. And there's so many scenarios, we couldn't even start to say what they might be. But we just know right now we're coming down the stretch, and here we all come. It is as jumbled up as I can remember it being, Kevin. Usually it's been Austin or James Clemens has kind of set the pace, or maybe both of them have kind of set the pace for the top two seeds when they will eventually battle it out.

But this year has been a lot more even. Austin right now, they're kind of in the driver's seat, but there's at least five teams that are going to vie for the next four spots, and it's going to come down to the last week and the last game. I bet the Falcons will probably, I think we've got Sparkman our last region game, and that's going to probably determine whether we're into the playoffs or out. And it's, you know, Bob Jones has had a great start to the season, tailed off, James Clemens is in there.

So a lot of the same people, but Huntsville's a competitive team that they haven't made the playoffs often, but they're going to be a lot next week. And it's just going to be, if you're a football fan, it's an exciting way to play. And to be honest, it's almost like if you look at the top six teams, each one of them gets to play either Grissom or Alburo, who are the two bottom teams. Each one of them gets one game like that, and the rest are against the rest of the competition.

Let me give you an example. If Sparkman were to win out, say, all the way to when they play Florence, and Florence just win out to play Sparkman, then that would be a game possibly for the region championship. And then again, if both teams lost going to that place, get to the very end, it could be right there and you're looking at, well, this is for a possible four seed. So it's going to be interesting to see how that plays out. These scenarios will be there.

[31:49] That is going to be fun to watch, but the Falcons have to take care of business first. Grissom head coach Preston Judah, his first season as a Tiger. He is a graduate of Grissom, so he's alum there. I think last year he was the offensive coordinator at Lee High School and has come over to Grissom in his first season. Meanwhile, Kenny Marson will be in his fourth season at Florence, and the Falcons have been in the playoffs each year in his tenure. Grissom is one and five overall, wins over Lee of Huntsville, and then five straight losses.

Meanwhile, Florence is three and three on the season, and more importantly, three and one in region play with wins over Alperville, Bob Jones, and James Clemens after losing early to Muscle Shoals, Hillcrest, and Austin. So we're looking forward to what will be a tremendous matchup. Go down to Jeffrey Jones, I believe. J.J., do you have the head coach coming close to you? Hey, coach. How are you tonight? Ask Stella where you're at. She said he's all over. Yeah, that's right. Hey, so Thursday night game moved because of fall break.

Tell me a little bit about it. Is that a distraction or is that a good thing for us? It's a good thing. We're out of school too, so tomorrow would have been another day out of school that we didn't need to have to wait around and play. Plus, our people are in town right now tonight. We need to go ahead and get it over with and play. So we're excited about tonight. Pretty good position coming into this Grissom game. You know, can't sit back, got to keep the floor, pedal to the metal.

We got to play. We got to treat this bunch like the Green Bay Packers told our kids all week. The next one up is the most important one, and we got to be ready to play tonight. So key in on some of the – now, Grissom's got some talent. There's no doubt about that. Stopping their offense and controlling the defense, what's the strategy there? Well, they've got some players that could hurt us. We've got to get out to a fast start on both sides of the ball.

If we're on defense first, we've got to get a three and out and get off the field quick, get it to our offense. And we need to sustain drives and keep the ball away from them. Last question. I know you're going to scoff at me for asking this one, but the last two weeks we've come together as a team. Keeping that momentum, keeping that going strong, how much has that helped us going into the second half, to the meat of our schedule, to the real important part where we've got to work on this playoff spot?

Great leadership in the locker room. This senior class has been bought in from the beginning. That's why there's 24 of them still with us, biggest senior class we've had since we've been here. They've showed the way, and they've stayed resilient, and they've asked for some change along the way. We've been more physical in practice. We've went best on best more. And it's just continuing to be the leaders they are and show these young guys how it's supposed to happen. Good luck tonight, Coach. Thank you. Head Coach Kenny Marson with Jeffrey Jones there on the sideline.

Good interview right there, talking about tonight's game. And Mike Alberson, before we go to break, just real quick, in about 30 seconds, how important is it for Florence to get off and really take control of this game early? You know, you don't want a team that comes into your home stadium to really take the air out of the stadium. You want the energy on your side. You want things going well. And so giving Grissom some life early on, especially a team that's 1-5, you keep them in the game for too long, and then they're going to start believing.

And we just want the Falcons to take care of business, stay on top of them, and really make this a tough night for Grissom. When we come back, we'll continue the countdown to kickoff here as you're listening to the TNT fireworks pregame show live from Brawley Stadium. We're back in two minutes. Hey, Falcons fans. To be quite honest, Class 7-8 Region 4 has sort of turned into a NASCAR race, where six of the 18 still have a chance to capture the region title. The Florence Falcons have slingshotted themselves into a tie for first place and are sitting in a good position as we head for the home stretch.

If the Falcons can win two of the next three, they have a decent chance to host a home playoff game. If they win all three, they could possibly say they're region champions. It's time for turn number four, as we are going down the back stretch and we're six wide, headed for the checkered flag. After last week's upsets in Region 4, though, Florence better not look too far ahead. First up, take care of those Tigers from Grissom tonight. It's time to rev up the engines. Let's go racing, boys.

We welcome you back to Florence Falcons football. The TNT Fireworks pregame show here on 93.9 The Score. Kevin Johnson, Mike Albertson, Jeffrey Jones, John McDaniel. Glad to be with you on this Thursday night special. And Mike Albertson, how about the player that comes out of left field? That one that comes and makes an impact that you don't see coming. I think Jeffrey even mentioned him earlier. The city of Florence, let's introduce you to Bo Burski. Right. You know, last week, Bo, you know, he's always been a solid contributor.

But last week, he especially, you know, kind of jumped out at everybody. And being able to make some big plays, sure. Some big hits, wow. You know, but really even doing it on the offensive side, being able to leak out on that play, make a nice catch, and really race to the pylon to give the Falcons a lead. That was one of those big plays that we'll never forget. I'm going to throw a curveball at you, Mike. How about that big blue band? We've talked about it a few times this year.

But they were big and loud in the last two games. And they have made an impression on the team. Coach Kenny Marson said even Friday, our last Thursday night, he got off the bus and went in to address the band after the game to thank them. You know, student body, pulling for student body, it's pretty neat to see. You know, that's why we do this, right? You know, you want this not just to be the football team and the band and the baseball team and whatever.

I mean, we've talked about them before, but Coach Bradley Elliott highlights all different things throughout Florence. And he talks about being a good teammate, but being a good classmate and really supporting the other sports as well. So, you know, when you're able to do that and the student body really comes together, it makes the school year, the school, the class, it just makes it a special place. And I'm grateful to see Florence really coming together like that. The Falcons as a whole, I'm talking about the bird, are really known for going after the prey.

They're a fast animal. One of the fastest birds there is is a falcon. And they're finding that prey here in the Florence Falcons on defense. And John McDaniel, this Florence defense going after the football is starting to find an identity on that side of the ball right now. Well, it's one of the key factors for being a really good unit. And last week, as we mentioned earlier, they had – they forced three turnovers. And I think on the season we're at like 10 or 11 total. But they're doing a terrific job of forcing teams into long yardage situations specifically and then causing them to take some risky plays that we're able to take advantage of, some interceptions that we've had.

And that works – you know, those things are carryover from practice. I mentioned it earlier. I know Coach Wisdom may work on things like that. They work on fumble circuits and stripping the ball, taking it away. And when you do it every day, it becomes more of a habit. And those things, you know, you see guys making an extra punch or a little extra effort on the tackle, and it results in a fumble. Sometimes it's just simply that easy. Jeffrey Jones on the sideline. Let's get a little update on the weather.

It is really, really nice tonight in Florence, Alabama. Yes, it is. So I almost interjected a little bit when Mike was talking about doing this. That's why we do this. We do this for the band, for the cheerleaders, for the players, and everything. I just thought it was worth saying this is a production, you know. And not only do you have those crews, but you also have, you know, the film crew and, you know, the student managers and all that that work very hard throughout the year.

And I'm proud to be a Falcon. I've always been a Falcon since day one of the school originating, and we'll continue it until the day I die. That's for sure. Now, that being said, we've got a beautiful night of weather. There's a little bit of wind going north to south. Temperature on the field right now is about 70 degrees. It's going to dip down into the 60s. Perfect night, perfect weather for football. A little too chilly for my liking. I like it to be 92 degrees and a little humid.

[42:09] But I think there's a lot of other people that are very happy with that. I've got a few texts from folks like Bradley Elliott saying, what a great night for football. Well, the question is, you know, we know the Falcons are wearing the home blue jerseys, blue helmets, the white pants, your favorite. But what is the sideline guy wearing tonight? Is it short sleeves or is it the long sleeves tonight? So, first half I'm going to go with the short sleeve, but I think at halftime I'm going to have to change.

I'm going to have to put some sleeves on. I don't do well, if you ask my wife, I don't do well with cold weather. I'm more of a warm summer kind of guy. That's our boy. I have to have some suntan oil in my desk for those cold January and February days. I just pull it out and smell the coconut. I'll just say that's a sideline reporter at its best right there, Mike. Jeffrey's got a whole wardrobe up here. He's got a closet full of different things hanging up in the background.

It's amazing the production that goes on on these high school football nights. I wasn't even going to go there. Speaking of productions, it is a production. When you come with Jeffrey Jones, that is for sure. Let's look at the potential starting lineup for the Florence Falcons tonight. Let's look at that offensive side. Let's start with quarterback Cade Davis. The 6'4", 215-pound senior. Where's number 11? He's 65 of 90 on the year for 694 yards. Nine touchdowns. Only two interceptions on the season. That is quite impressive that he's taking care of the football, but he is growing in that position more and more with the confidence, and he's turning it loose when he throws it, and I like that as well.

On the outside, let's get a couple wide receivers. Kevontae Green wears number 8, 6'1", 215-pound junior. Jimmy McDonald, a senior. He wears number 7. He's 6'1", 170 pounds. I called him a junior for half the season. I realized he's a senior. My apologies. I've been wanting him to be a junior. But Jimmy McDonald, 23 receptions on the year. I think that actually increased this past year, the past week. But he has four touchdowns on the season. I know that's what is more important for that. On the offensive line, let's go with Jacob Harper, the sophomore at center.

5'11", 225. Mike, that sophomore at center has probably made a big difference more than we realized because it just frees everybody up. It did. You know, he's done a really solid job up there, but was able to slide Tavares Reader out to the outside, and it really solidified that line a good bit. That line has really come along as the season's gone on, and Harper's done a good job. Dre Moore's been in there some. He'll be right guard. Wears number 51, 5'10", 255. Michael Shanes is a guard. 5'10", 220.

They're the guards. But C.J. Bolden has played some in the guard position too because Dre had an injury. So you might hear C.J. play some as well. He wears number 72, 6'2", 220 pounds, junior. And then Javion Lewis is the left tackle, 6'4", 220, and he wears number 56. The running backs, got a couple of them now. Kaylon Triplett, 5'10", senior, 180 pounds. He is a great speedster there. And the quickness comes from Elijah Hines, 5'9", 155, only a sophomore. This is a game, Mike, where those two guys really need to find their footing.

They really do. And, you know, as the season has gone on, they've improved each and every week. But this Falcon team is really looking forward to their production tonight. Let's also talk about on special teams, Blake Hanback is the long snapper. Where's number 50? We don't talk about him enough, but Blake Hanback has been extra, extra special and a long line of great long snappers. He continues that tradition. Steven Shevinata, great punter, great actor. Did a good job last week. He didn't have to act. He really got rough pretty hard.

But he laid there for a few seconds after. We've got to teach him to lay down a little. We've got to teach these guys to take the bump, as we say. Right, Mike? Oh, absolutely. You know, every once in a while. We're not talking about flopping. No, not flopping. But just being able to take the bump. Just a WWE. Just, you know, just sell it. Just sell it. Just a little bit. Just a little bit. Charlie Grace is the kicker. He wears number 43. The senior is 9 of 10.

Nah, maybe even more than that, I think, on my PETs. I didn't update them. But he's only missed one on the season as he hit three last week. And we're perfect on all of those. And he also hit one of one on field goals this season as well. So that's your potential starting lineup on the offense for the Florence Falcons going into tonight's game. And, John, what does this Florence defense need to work on going down the stretch? Well, I'd like to see them maybe shore up their run defense a little bit.

Did a fair job last week. But we wound up, in total, as we stayed on the field that long, wound up getting close to 200 yards up rushing. And so our guys, maybe we could firm that up a little bit. Play a little stronger on early downs. Force them into obvious passing situations where we do a pretty good job of rushing. Last week, James Clemens kicked a field goal after, like, a 15-play drive. Then J-Shot Pearson takes the kickoff back in about 10 seconds. That's good news. Bad news, your defense had to go right back out there.

And that's tough. When people don't realize that, that defense didn't get a breather. And so that was a big part of that game as well. And Mike playing on Thursday night. You know, Kenny Marson's embracing it. He's making a big bell. Hey, let's do it. Advantage Falcons, though, maybe, because they have played a few Thursday night games. Right. This would be their third Thursday night game this season. This is one of those things that, you know, when you have a certain schedule that you have in mind and a cadence going on, you know, the Falcons have played both Thursday and Friday night.

[47:25] So they've been able to have short weeks. They've been able to have a little longer weeks and things like that. But this time being the third time's the charm, you know, this Falcon team is ready to rock, especially at home. Does it mess you up when they play on Thursday nights? Oh, it certainly messes me up, you know, between work and family and all sorts of other fun stuff. But, you know, I'm still here ready to go. I'll preach my best sermon I preached on Saturday morning.

There's only one there. I mean, I understand. It really changes your whole schedule up there a little bit. We know that. Jeffrey Jones still on the sideline. Florence doesn't need to let their foot off the gas tonight. You talked about that. How important is it for them to come out and take control? Very important. You know, if things go as planned, we can take our foot off the gas in the fourth quarter. That's my plan. But, you know, we've got to establish who we are. And, you know, there is no intimidation.

Nobody in our league is going to intimidate us at all anymore. So it's just another game. And it's the next one. So this is by far the most important game. Managers throwing football, and J.J. almost intercepted it down there. Yeah, I about helmet to helmet right there. I about laid this kid out. Remind me of my days on Brawley Stadium turf there. John McDaniel brings us our Chick-fil-A drive-thru stats of the week. Chick-fil-A is our sponsor. Region games are big this week. And I know there are some big ones coming up that have the impact on the region standings.

Yeah, so far we've got Austin's in the lead, followed by Florence, Sparkman, Bob Jones, and James Clemens. Huntsville, and we've got Albertville in seventh and Grissom in eighth tonight. Bob Jones takes on Austin. They're four and three versus four and two. Huntsville at four and two is playing at Albertville. Sparkman, they are three and four so far, but they are at James Clemens, who is two and four, but both wins are in the region. Well, I tell you what, as we count down to kickoff here on the TNT Fireworks pregame show, let's sneak in one more one-minute timeout.

As the Falcons get ready to take on the Tigers, it's going to be a good matchup. As I was talking before I went to break, Florence leads the series 14-1. This is the 16th time these teams will meet. Florence's only loss was during the COVID year, actually, but it was a big one. It cost the Falcons a playoff game.

Florence averaging 15 points per game, giving up 22. But in region games, Florence is averaging 19 points a game and only giving up 16 points a game. Grissom, meanwhile, 11 points per game in region and giving up 28 in the game. So we'll keep an eye on that stat. That will be one I think will be a part of it as well. You know, guys, as we come down to the wire here, Mike, what player needs to have a big game tonight for the Falcons? You know, I'm going to call out a whole unit.

I would say the offensive line. You know, I think the offensive line needs to have a good game to open up this run game. John, key for the Falcons to get the win tonight. I think Mike and I did not discuss this, but run game, that was exactly what I was going to say. My player is Kalon. I want to see a piggybacking off Mike. Offensive line opening holes. Well, great minds, Mike. Offensive line opening up holes and Kalon hitting holes hard and running downhill very hard and getting that extra yard tonight.

Jeffrey Jones, heads or tails? That's tough. You're going to put them on the spot. I mean, we're one in five on the season. I've always called heads. Yeah, we don't get to make the call, so the opposing needs to make the call. But we're one in five on the call. Last week was the first time we'd won a coin toss all season. And it worked well for us. It did work well for us. That was a big part of it as well. First responders tonight, J.J., it's really special.

Yeah, our honorable captain tonight is Ken Sherrod, and he's going to actually do the toss for us. So, you know, it's just good to see these former first responders and military here tonight. You know, it looks like half the Florence police force is lined up along the goal line down there. Good line. Yeah, the end line, sorry. We're very appreciative of them, and it's just a great night. Let's get the captains for Florence tonight. Myles Coley will be one of the captains tonight. Also tonight, the captain will be Jimmy McDonald.

Then number 56, J.V. Lewis. And also the captain tonight, Walt Barrett. I didn't know this because I really have to know Walt without his helmet on and stuff, but he's a big old redhead. And you got that red hair shining. Yeah, he's a big old kid when you walk by me today and play in the safety position. He'll be going to Austin Peay when he finishes his career at Florence High School. Across the way, the Tigers in their orange helmets, orange pants, white jerseys with orange numbers.

It'll be a fun night for us to find the numbers. We have four captains coming out, and we'll get ready for the captains to meet one another. The lights go down. The spotlight on the 50-yard line. This is one of the cooler things I like about the lights when they do that for the captain of the toss of the coin. Let's send it down to Jeffrey Jones. We'll have the referee with him. Shaking hands over there for all the captains. Here we go. You guys ready for some football?

All right. Great night, Bart. Great night, Bart. Good sportsmanship, guys. No crazy stuff. Good sportsmanship. Everybody have a great game. I'm going to let you call the toss. I got heads and I got tails. Tails. He's going to call tails. If I drop it, I'll flip it again. It is tails. We're going to defer. Grissom won, and they're going to defer to the second half. One and six on the toss of the coin, but the Florence Falcons are three and three on the season. They're going to four and three tonight.

If they get a win, we'll find out where they are when we come back. This is Florence Falcons football. We're back in 30. It's football time in Alabama. The players are hitting the field. The cheerleaders are firing up the crowd. The drum major is striking up the band, and we all stand to the national anthem. This is Congressman Robert Adderholt. While you cheer your favorite team this season, I'll be on President Trump's team shaking things up in Washington. When we stand on conservative principles, it's a win for everyone.

[57:53] I'm Robert Adderholt, and I approve this message. Paid for by Adderholt for Congress. Standby for kickoff. It's game time. Florence Falcons football on Sports Radio 93.9. The score is brought to you by Florence Utilities, Florence City Schools, the law firm of Johnson, Pesher, Medley, and Birchel, Lost Pizza, North Alabama Bone and Joint Clinic, T&T Fireworks, Yogurt Mountain, Whataburger, Singing River Dentistry, Bank Independent, Village Discount Drugs, Hugo's Mexican Restaurant, Iron's Electric, Cypress Creek Indoor Range, Hennigar, Hennigar Johnson and Layden Insurance, and Carbine Construction, and Carbine Construction.

Now let's go to the press box for tonight's game. Here's the voice of the Florence Falcons, Kevin Johnson. Perfect weather in Florence, Alabama on a Thursday night for high school football as the boys in blue carrying the American flag, carrying flags of all the military branches, come flying out on the field. That's one of the prettiest things to see, those kids in those blue helmets and blue jerseys carrying the flags out on the field when we could see it there for a minute. It was really neat.

The Falcons will have the ball as they'll kick off to them. The Tigers will kick off to them to start the game. Florence loses the coin toss but will have the ball to start it off. And Josh Brown, the kicker for Grissom, has been known to chip it a little bit, onside kick it a little bit. They have nothing to lose, Mike. This Grissom team is going to come here. They can do anything. They can pull out all the stops. Oh, absolutely. You know, it's a region game, so you know that, you know, the playbook's going to be wide open.

But when you need a little spark for your team, especially on the road, you know, some of those trick plays will really get some momentum for you. Deep for the Falcons. A couple of players back there. I think Jayshod Pearson's deep, but also All Red may be deep even. See, a number five of them, not mistaken. So we'll catch the couple of numbers. That's correct. So All Red back deep. Josh Brown to kick it off. Falcons in blue jerseys, white numbers, blue helmets, white pants, going right to left.

Meanwhile, the Tigers in their orange pants, orange helmets, white jerseys, orange numbers. It looks like a Clemson-Kentucky game is what it looks like. And it's going to be a short kick to the sideline and taken by the Falcons at the 30 and up to the 35 and knocked down there after a return of five yards. And the Falcons have it first and 10 at the 35. Let's pause for station identification. This is Falcons football. The voice of the Florence High School Falcons, WYTK-FM. Angelsville, Athens, Decatur, the Shoals, 93-9. The score.

Bless you. Nelson Elliott was the one on the return of the kick. We appreciate him catching that and bringing it back. We appreciate the blessings from Jeffrey Jones on the sideline for anyone that sneezes in the sound of booth here. Things that get heard on a Thursday night. Trips to the left, one back in the backfield. That's tripling. The Tigers jump immediately. And that should be a five-yard penalty against the Tigers. As the Falcons move their offensive line over, let's see what they call. Yep. Offsides against the Tigers.

That's a five-yard penalty. They'll move it up across the 40. And that's probably a good time to do that right there, Mike. Just go ahead and set that tone a little bit. Yeah, I mean, look, you know, you get an easy five yards right there. It's first and five, and now you've really started the offense off in the right position. Three to the left. One back in the backfield. Back to pass Davis. Quick out. Got it to Mays, who gets to start at the 40 to the 45 to the 50.

Give him about 10 on the carry after the catch. That'll be enough for our Falcons first down into the territory of Grissom. And you see there a couple of new faces already in the starting lineup. But saving some players. Maybe we've got some tweaks. Jimmy McDonald not starting. Kevante Green not starting. But there you see Jackson Mays on the big catch. Yeah, you know, early on, good job by Cade just to be able to set his feet, deliver a nice easy catch for the guy. Get him settled into this game.

Get those first receptions out of the way and really settle in as we get going. Against the four-man front. Goolsby to the left, two to the right. This time I'm going to leave it with Trippley. He gets back to the right, got run room, 50 breaks attack. Oh, he got tripped up. He was trying to get loose, and he saw green grass, but he's tripped up after a gain of two. I thought he was about to pull away. Yeah, the only thing that got pulled away was his shoe off his foot.

So, he's got to come out of this game. Cade and Trippley had a nice hole there as he was going through. He got the shoestring tackle literally and lost the shoe on that play. The Carson Johnson into the game for the Falcons at running back. On the second down seven play, straight drop by Davis. Has time. Foes to the outside and complete. Got it across the 40. Down to the 35. Down to the 34. That's enough for a first down. Nice throwing catch across the way. That's Goolsby right there.

[1:03:03] Goolsby pulls that in. And that will be enough to move the chains at the 34. The Falcons' first possession, taking it down the field, going right to left. No score. Goolsby will come to the left. Mays will go to the right. In the slot is Elliott. The tight end H-back right now is LaShawn Shepard. You're back in the backfield. I think still may be Johnson. Let's see. Yes, Johnson's going to save the Carson Johnson in there. Play clock at 10. Falcons get everybody set up on the right hash against the four-man front.

Shepard shifts to the right. Going to leave it with Johnson. Trying to come outside. Got a little space. Cut it back up the middle. Still on his feet across the 30 and down to about the 27. Give him about five or six right there. Nice little cut. Jew can continue to move his feet. Yeah, that was a good job of being able to find his blocker and keep behind him and use that block to get a couple extra yards for a nice gain on first down. Zero comes out.

That's Johnson. Four comes in. That's Triplett. Elliott will go wide to the left along with Mays. Goolsby will go wide to the right on the second down three play. You might take a shot to the end zone right here. Falcons trying to push this one in to start the game. Goolsby in motion to the left. And a timeout taken, I believe, or motion. Somebody might have moved across the way. Call us for it. Fault start against the Falcons. So, the Falcons move early. And that will bring that second and three back to second and eight.

Those penalties are things you've got to eliminate this late in the season. Right. You know, early on, we saw a few of those plays. It was a little frustrating, but now we should be beyond that. Those things should have been cleaned up. Trips still to the left. Boy, you've got numbers over here if you can throw it. Davis, straight drop, looking left. Has time. Now Davis is going to run with it. Up the middle to the 35, to the 30, down to the 25, down to the 22. He may have a first down.

Look at Cade Davis showing those nimble legs and feet, dancing through the Tigers and gets a first down. Yeah, that was a good job. He looked up and he saw the defense had kind of parted ways. The offensive line did a good job of continuing their block. And Cade saw a nice little hole, and he just found his way to a first down. He does a great job. When he decided to run, he went straight downhill, straight line. He didn't try to evade. He ran. Here comes Triplett off the left side.

Gets across to the 20. Hit hard there. Stays on his feet. Keeps pushing forward. Gets a little help from Nelson Elliott. Continues all the way down to the 10, down inside the 10. How about that? Just kept pushing and pushing. And Nelson Elliott kept blocking and blocking. And that was starting at the 20. He went another 15 yards down to the 6-yard line. You know, and we called it out a couple times. But credit to Nelson Elliott there. That was a great job of being able to continue that play. Time out on the field for an injured Tiger.

Back at Brawley Stadium. Kevin Thompson, the crew with you. Florence, first possession of the night, has driven it down to the 6-yard line. The injured player, Washington, gets up under his own power after he got a stinger from hitting Kalen Triplett. And Triplett got the best of that one, including about 10 more yards after the hit. At the 6-yard line, Triplett's the back to the right, and again, a whistle. And again, somebody moved a little early, but let's see who it was. It was us. And it will go against the team in blue.

First down in 6, now goes to first and goal from the 11. So two penalties not setting inside with that line. You get a little excited on a Thursday night. Got to take care of business and make sure you eliminate the penalties. Double tight end set for Davis, the quarterback. Brings this man in motion back to the right will go, Shepard. Now he's going to leave it with Triplett right up the middle. And Triplett's hitting going nowhere. They pulled him down that time. No room to run there.

No openings at all. And no gain. Second down and goal. Yeah, that was tough up front. The offensive line didn't really get much push. Grissom did a good job of staying in the lanes and really cleaning that one up. You know, this Falcons team offense running the game, running, running. I think they're going to have to do a little mix of both of the inside gap and the outside gap. That was an inside gap that didn't work. Let's see if they go the outside. But right now, Grissom's got everybody in the box.

This is an easy time to throw. He checks back. Davis does to the sideline. Gets the play call back. Ten on the clock. Straight drop. Looking to throw. Throws the screen. Got it to Mays. At the ten. To the five. And hit down at the four. Three. He broke a tackle. Goes in. Did he get in? It's a touchdown for Jackson Mays. And Florence strikes first to go up six to zero. Yeah, it was a great job by Mays to really come off of one of those tackles.

[1:08:22] Break through a tackle. Use a blocker downfield. And dive towards the end zone, into the end zone for a touchdown. That was a great individual effort. Once he got that ball, you know, he had one thing in mind. And that was finding the end zone. Hand back to snap. Davis to hold. Charlie Graves, the senior, to attempt the PAT. Everything perfect so far. The kick on the way. It's perfect as well. New score. Florence leads at 7-0 here. Halfway through the first. This is Falcon football.

You won't be shocked by their reputation. Back here at Bradley Stadium on the Thursday night, Florence strikes first over Grissom 7-0 with a first opening touchdown drive. And John McDaniel, it was a beauty. It was a great job. Way to start the game off. Eight plays, 63 total yards. Four minutes, 32 seconds. It was a nice job possessing an 11-yard touchdown pass to conclude the drive. Touchdown from Davis to Jackson Mays, who got the start tonight. Now the kick by Greenhall drives his Grissom Tiger all the way back into the end zone and touchback.

That one bounced at the 10, at the 5. Mike, that one almost had that Jeffrey Jones kickback on the golf swing right there, didn't it? It certainly did. It had a little backspin there. I was hoping it would kind of die in between, you know, the 5 and the goal line. But, you know, it kind of creeped into that end zone. They'll have to touch back. Here come the Tigers. Our quarterback, Patrick Bailey, will have one back in the backfield. Germano, Seth Germano, who have trips to the right, one to the left.

Now we'll bring a man in motion. That's his big tight end there. Moore before the snap. Going to leave it. Germano trying to bounce it. Nope, he's going to throw the pass out to Moore. Excuse me. Moore catches it, but only gets about three before he's knocked down immediately by the host of Falcons. Otis Sish drunk in on the tackle there. He's done a great job this year from the safety position. Had a few huge plays, including a forced fumble last week that the Falcons recovered in a huge play.

If he doesn't make that play, they'll probably get six on that one. Evan Chance wide to the right. These are some Tigers that haven't always played, by the way, on some games. CJ Washington in the slot, the guy that got hurt. He's back in the game on the second down seven play. Germano is the back with Bailey, the quarterback. Going to leave it inside with Germano. Pushes up the middle. Doesn't get a whole lot. He is stonewalled after a game of about two. And he'll bring up a third and about four to go at the 27-yard line.

Jeffrey Jones, boy, this Falcon defense needs the right here. They lost a lot of third downs. They've got to win some third downs and fourth downs. Very important play right here. You know, get off the field. Good to see the Florence Band playing at the right times. They're actually making it pretty loud down here. Patrick Bailey, the quarterback, back in shotgun formation with twins to both sides. He likes the tight end more. Let's see if he goes to him again on the third and fourth play.

This time, looks to pass to Moore again. Caught it right at the sticks. Got the first down at the 31. KJ knew it was coming, but I don't think the Falcons did. But, boy, these quarterbacks, they like to throw it to the biggest receiver, and he was wide open. Oh, yeah, he definitely was wide open. He did a great job to get right beyond the sticks there, received the ball nicely, nice pitch and catch there. Easy play, and they've got to griss them first down. I know, John McDaniel, the defense has been talked to all week, win third downs and fourth downs.

Not a good start, but that's something we're going to work on tonight. Well, of course, you're obviously wanting to win the important downs, but you've got to find the playmaker, and number one is definitely he's a big target, you said, but he's going to be their playmaker. Germano won't get it. No, it's going to be the quarterback, Bailey, right at the middle, and he is hit right at the line of scrimmage and pushback. That time, he met a couple of Falcon linebackers in there, and one of those was a guy by the name of Zoe Martin, and Zoe Martin said, let me introduce myself to you.

I'm an All-State player, and he showed it right there. He definitely did. He shot the gap beautifully, hit the ball carrier right away and stuffed that run. Second down, and they gave him actually two yards. I thought he got nothing, but they gave him two yards. Second down and eighth at the 34-yard line. Falcons lead at 7-0, 5-15, and counting here in the first half. Five wideouts. Two to the right, three to the left. Empty set for Bailey, the quarterback. Probably will get rid of it quick.

Straight drop. Looks, throws to the outside. Gets it out here, complete at the 35. Broke back and got the first down at the 40 and still on his feet and finally tripped up at midfield. They got a gift on that, Kevin. Number one, actually fell down before the ball was snapped, and he didn't get a false start. But a quick throw there, and he got him out in space. And Jeffrey Jones, that's not what the Falcons want right there on defense. Yeah, that was actually a pretty well-executed play other than that false start that he didn't get called.

[1:13:45] But that was a – you know, he made a couple Falcons' miss and got some good yardage out of that. We need to contain that guy. Kanan Orozzi in the slot to the left with two wide receivers on each side on the first down play at the midfield. Going to leave it. Dramano up the middle. He gets across the 45. Too much yardage right there. Pushes all the way down to the 42. And, Mike, we've seen this before with this Falcon defense. If they don't get off the field early, then they start to waver a little bit and give up big yardage on first down.

Yeah, the Grissom Tigers seem to be getting – really trying to work on the run game here into the teeth of our defense. And it had a really nice run there on first down. End of the game for Florence will be Maury Smith on the second down four play, giving that defensive line a little breather. Going to leave it with Dramano again this time. And this time he's hit and loses a yard maybe about at the line of scrimmage. As he come up and Jaden Iron says, no, no, no, enough of Dramano or Dramano either one.

We'll take him down. System brings up third and four at the 43. The line to gain is the 39 for the Tigers. Falcon crowd trying to make some noise tonight. During fall break, not as big a crowd. Empty set again. Quarterback Bailey like to get rid of it early to see if he does it again. And they got the Falcons to jump. A hard count and Jaden White fell for it. So that will be an easy five yards in the first down. And right now the Tigers gaining some confidence.

And that's not what you want, Mike Albertson. No, not early on. Definitely not. The Falcons really, you know, having trouble settling in here on defense and getting the Grism Tigers off their game. Washington and Norazi deep to the left. Tidy and Moore. He's in the slot right now between the tackle and the guard. Actually, between the tackle and Tidy. And watch for him going down the seam. They bring a man in motion. Orbit. Going to leave it inside to Dramano. He's trying to bounce it, trying to bounce it.

Still trying to bounce it. And he's going nowhere. And Jaden White says, I'll take you down. Jaden White finally found him at the 38 and brought him down and brings him down finally for no gain. That was a better job of that blue defense up front. They did not. They put up the wall. They certainly did. They got around and really covered the edge well, which forced them back up into the teeth of the defense. Jaden White came in to clean that one up. Really great job by the Falcons as a unit.

J.J., the defense down there, they've got to do a better job in the secondary not letting these quick throws happen. Yeah, the coach has been riding pretty hard the last few plays. Definitely not as much hustle as they need to be. New quarterback in the game. No, it's still Bailey in the quarterback. Check that. Man in motion coming behind Bailey again. He's actually going in motion. They're going to look at the play action. Want to throw it down the seam over here. And wheel routes wide open to the guy that was in motion.

He catches at the 20 and down to the 19. And Kenny Morrison not happy with his defense right there. As they run the wheel route once again, it's open to Ozzie down to the 19. Kevin, there were four Falcons in the vicinity, and he threaded that needle perfectly. Just good route by the running back, good throw by the quarterback. And the Falcons were kind of caught flat-footed at that point. Boy, you want to know if you could take the wind out of the sails right here. If you could get one intercepted or turnover, that would be huge.

Four wide outs, one back in the backfield. Draw on the back. Pass. Bailey looking. Throws across the middle. Got it complete at the 16-yard line and brought down immediately for a gain of two. They run that little shallow route. And John, as a linebacker, that shallow route is so hard and difficult to cover, isn't it? It's when number one at 6'4", 6'5", is you're really focused on him. So you're bailing out quick, and that guy comes right under you. It is a very quick reaction play, or it's going to be a big play.

Washington wide left. To the right will be two wide receivers, one back in the backfield. Germano, the quarterback, Bailey, gets the snap. Going to leave it. Germano, he goes to the right side, and he's hit, knocked down around the 15-yard line. He'll gain about two, and he'll bring up third and a long five for the Tigers. Florence leaves at 7-0, but impressively, one in five, Grissom, has driven this ball down the field, getting a couple of conversions on third down, and now they face another third down.

We'll call it six to go. They have to touch the nine to get the change to move. They'll win two to the left, two to the right. Always know where number one is. He's in the slot on the left. That's Moore, the big tight end. Crowd trying to make a factor here. Straight drop, looking, wanting to throw. Throws to the sideline and caught and hit immediately. He's not going anywhere. Jekyll and Jones says, thank you very much. Matter of fact, that's a great job of no game.

Brings up fourth down and maybe five to go. Yeah, it was a good job by the Falcon secondary there to be able to keep everything in front, and Jekyll and came in and stopped him right away once he received that ball to get no game. So, let's see if this defense can win a fourth down. Orozzi will go wide to the left. They're moving some receivers around. One back in the backfield. Bailey, the quarterback, wants to give it inside. Does, and he's trying to push forward, and I don't think he got it.

[1:18:59] He got to the 10, but he's going to move about a yard short. And the Falcon defense holds. Surprised by the call, but it almost worked. Very, very surprised by the call. Grissom has been able to complete some passes down the field, being able to get some yardage there. And so, running right into the teeth of the defense, needing four. That was a bit strange. And, you know, the Falcons continued to stay in their gaps and complete that so that they get the ball back here, our turnover on downs.

Jeffrey Jones, though, the Falcons finally won a third and fourth down on defense. Yeah, and they're very excited about it, as they should be. It was a great stop. It was a little confusing in the play they ran, but we'll take it any way we can get it. At the 10 for the Falcons, they'll have Davis, the quarterback, with triplet to the right. This could be the final play of the first quarter. Both teams had one possession. Florence scored, and Grissom didn't. Davis going to leave with a triplet.

No, looks to throw. Now he's in trouble and trying to get away. Runs up to the 10, to the 15. Hit hard by a couple of guys and brought down after a game of about four. And that will be the end of the first quarter. As Florence leads Grissom, 7-0, this is Falcon Football. We're back in one minute. Have you ever seen those halftime scholarships where you have to nail a 40-yard field goal? Yeah, this isn't that. I didn't have to write a long essay or audition or make a half-court shot.

I just had to open a bank independent account, use my debit card, sign up for online banking, and have a positive balance. That's it. A 20% scholarship to UNA. When bank independent invests in students like me, they're investing in all of us and the future of our community. Bank independent. We're invested in your future. Member FDIC. James Mooney, the 93.9, the score studios with a score update. Decatur leading Mae Jemison, 7-0. In college, currently, Tulane leading East Carolina, 6-0. Southern Miss and Georgia Southern scoreless. Jacksonville State leading Sam Houston, 7-0.

In Major League Baseball, it is the Phils leading the Dodgers, 1-0. The Dodgers need to win to advance to the NLCS. And coming up at 8, we have the Brewers and the Cubs, and we'll have the rest of that after the Florence broadcast. Now back to the stadium for the second quarter. Thank you, James Moody. Quarter number two about to get underway. Florence leads it 7-0, a fast first quarter. Sometimes those Thursday night games go fast, but you've got one possession for each team, Mike, and you look up and you win your possession for a score.

Grissom didn't. That's the difference in the game, obviously. Absolutely. And, you know, this is going to be one of those games where, you know, every possession is going to count. If we're going to be able to run clock like that the entire game, we're going to be out of here in a hurry. But that also means that we can't really make too many mistakes. We've got to really execute well. Second down and six after the run by Davis, who right now is double figures in rushing early in this game.

Goalsby will go in motion and come back to the other side. Going to leave it with triplet, trying to bounce outside, and there was nowhere to run. The Tigers were there that time. Thought they might catch them napping, coming hard for the quarterback. Instead, they read the play in the loss of about three. That's a nice play there on the outside. And a couple of defensive guys have gotten some looks. Casey Laurie, number 11, making a play for Grissom. They've got a couple of defensive ends. They've gotten some looks.

Nice Thomas, another one that people talk about. So third down and nine as we start quarter number two. Florence up by seven, but they're deep in their own territory. Third and nine from the 11-yard line. Trips to the right. One back in the backfield. Five-man front. Good protection right now. Going to have to get rid of it. Comes out to the right. Davis is in trouble. Davis throws on the run down the sideline, and it's caught by Jimmy McDonald down at the 40-yard line. What a play by number seven.

That was a great job by number seven McDonald, but as much of a great job with Cade Davis, being able to be flushed out of the pocket there. He was actually directing traffic as he was on the run, delivering a beautiful ball that Jimmy had to adjust to, but great job getting that ball downfield. It was an excellent play by the Falcons. First and 10 at the 41. A lock was trouble. Not now. Kevontae Green in the game as well to the right in the slot, along with McDonald.

Went back in the backfield. It's triplet. Back to pass. Davis looks. Play action. He's in trouble. Again, stepping the pocket. He's hitting. He's going down. He gets rid of it to his running back, but he couldn't catch it. That's a great job, though. He saw triplet standing there, and he threw it, and he couldn't catch it, but it saves five or six yards. It'll be second down and 10. Yeah, but, you know, those plays always are, you know, kind of nerve-wracking, but Cade did exactly what he needed to do.

He saw triplet out there, and just, he fired it in his direction, just hoping to ensure that there wasn't any grounding, but being able to try and get it to a guy. I will say this. I will say this. I think he needs to find the running backs out of the backfield a lot more. I think they're open more. Second down and 10 play. A lot of guys up for the Grissom Tigers in the box. Davis sees it. He checks the play. Six on the play clock.

[1:24:07] Gets the call. Gets the snap. Leaves it inside. Going to check it there. Triplet is hit. Goes down after a gain of one. Not much running room there. He'll move it up to about the 40 to three. Give him two on the carry. And he'll bring you up third down and eight. Grissom is doing a really good job of changing the picture pre-snap. They're lining up, and then somewhere in the cadence they're moving and giving our offensive line a different look, and it's causing us some issues identifying where they are and who we're supposed to get.

Four wideouts for the Falcons. Goolsby, Mays on one end. McDonald and Kevante Green on the other. Back to pass. Looking to throw. Sets his feet and throws an incomplete. Oh, yeah, that was incomplete there. Couldn't get it. Slow brings up fourth down. And a Tiger injured back here at the 41-yard line. Got tangled up with the Falcons. Slow to get up. They're going to check on him. And while they check on him, we'll say thank you to our sponsors tonight, Florence Utilities, Florence City Schools, Johnson Passor Medley and Virtual Attorneys, North Alabama Bone and Joint Clinic, TNT Fireworks, also Yogurt Mountain and Whataburger, Hugo's Mexican Restaurant, Sigan River Dentistry, Bank Independent, Lost Pizza, Village Discount Drugs, Irons Electric, Cypress Creek Range, Henniger Johnson and Leighton Insurance and Carbine Construction.

Sonata's punt, a good one. High hanging. Kick going to be fair caught and missed, but he didn't touch it. Now he goes to pick it up, and he does at the 30-yard line. Dangerous play by the Grissom Tigers there. Johnson went to pick it up, but he does recover it. I didn't think he touched it, but he must have. It was close. It actually hit two of our guys on the shoulder pads. And I think they can recover that. And run it without any penalty. Correct.

That would be the key. Lucky break for us not getting a kick-catch interference. So the punt will give the ball back to the Tigers with 9.50 to go here in the first half, if I'm not mistaken. And at the 32-yard line, the Tigers will have it first and 10. Bailey, the quarterback, will have four wideouts again. They have been successful early on, just haven't scored. Let's keep them unsuccessful this time. Maybe a pick six would be nice. Bailey looking to give inside Germano, and this time Germano is wrapped up right at the line of scrimmage.

No gain. He might get one yard. Kevin, they've got him listed at 5-4. So he's a hard back to find. He gets in behind his big lineman, and he's really difficult for our D guys to find. That time a nice job by Jonathan Perkins making the play. And Mike, this Falcon defense needs to make a big play here. Yeah, they certainly do. This is going to be one that they're going to want to keep third and long. A little confused. They throw the quick out, and there's the interception nearly by Jones, but he knocked it away.

He read it. Boy, and Jekyll and Jones played well, hasn't he? He definitely has. He jumped that route beautifully. He saw it right off the quarterback's hand. He was able to jump the route and knock it down. Couldn't get the second hand on it, but that could have been a pick six if he was able to. Third down and nine to go. Now you've got to watch for the double move. They see that. They'll say, okay, we'll set you up. Boy, this is where the defensive line needs to make a play, too.

Get back there after that quarterback. One back in the backfield now is Barnes, Keyshawn Barnes in. Back to pass. Looking, wanting to set up the screen to Barnes. Scott, it couldn't be incomplete. He couldn't catch it. Somebody was going to be right there in his face with Jaden Irons, and to bring up fourth down, and there's your three and out that you've been looking for the Falcon defense. That was a great job by the Falcons. You know, last drive, they had the bow up on fourth down.

This time, they were able to get off the field in third and, you know, give an opportunity for Jay Shaw to run one back. Mr. Pearson sits back at the 30. The senior wears number two. The punter, Burton, gets it away. Low-line drive kick, going to bounce away from everybody and hit and take a Florence bounce back across the 40, back at the 42 before it's down. So, the Falcons are about, well, we're going to make it to 43, 57 yards away. And Jeffrey Jones, you see it's right here that the Falcons could go down and maybe go up two scores that maybe that would be all you need because I feel like this Falcon team feel like they can really take this one, a hold of this game.

We definitely do need it. Since the first drive, we've kind of been sluggish a little bit. So, you know, I think to make a statement here, we've got to put some more points on the board. You know, seven points in the first quarter is fine, but we're going to need more than that. We're going to need to execute and make sure that, you know, he's got some of these starters, these original starters coming back in. Need to move the ball there. Green, McDonald, wide left, Goolsby right.

Looked to pass, kitted out here quickly. De Green makes one of them. It's got a block, 45 to the 50. Stays on his feet and knocked out of bounds after a gain of nine. Good throw right there and catch from Davis to Green. That'll move at nine yards. That was a good job by Davis to deliver a nice ball. Kavante Green had the blocking downfield. If he was able to cut it up into the middle of the field, he had plenty of room to go. He cut to the outside, unfortunately.

[1:29:08] He was able to get the first down, but I think he cut himself off some yardage. Yeah, and probably, you know, I think they say, get that outside. My big coach, I might not have seen it, but he had a green grass in front of my group. Jimmy McDonald was doing a great job helping his teammates. Trips to the right, to the wide side on the first and 10th play in Tiger territory. They throw the quick screen again, get to Goolsby. Goolsby splits the double team, got out to the 45, to the 40, down the sideline and knocked out of bounds at the 36.

That'll be enough for another Falcon first down. People don't realize how much Mr. Goolsby has some speed. Oh, yeah, he definitely does a great job. When he gets the ball out in open space, he's as dangerous as anybody. He's got some great hands. He's been a valuable weapon here for the Falcons. JJ, JC Goolsby can play. Yes, he can. He's, uh, and he's got, he, well said, he's got some wheels on him. You know, get him, get him the ball in space and he's going to make a play.

He's not scared to, uh, take a hit. He's definitely not scared to deliver a hit either. Time out on the field. We'll do the same. Florence leads at 7-0. Falcon football back in 30 seconds. Knuckle. Back at Brawley Stadium after the injured Tiger goes off the field, Will Bush under his own power. First and 10 for the Falcons at the 37. Davis, the quarterback, looks to throw, close the quick screen again outside of that time.

The Tigers were waiting on it and hit the Falcon player right on the numbers. No gain. Brings up second down and 10. Yeah, there was a little hesitation there by Cade. It was able to give the defense an opportunity to crash on down. Not great blocking there by the wide receivers on the outside and really blew that play up. Yeah, I'd give Grissom a little credit too. After seeing that twice in a row, they're like, we've seen it for me twice. We're not going to do it the third time.

Well, I mean, I think if the guy blocked, it would have been all right. We'll argue that later on. They'll make second down and 10. At the 37, Goolsby will go wide to the left. Green McDonald to the right. Triplett's still the back. Going to leave with Triplett this time. Triplett cuts it up. Stays on his feet. Spins away from one but couldn't get away from two. He gets to the 33-yard line. I hold my breath in this game because I feel like Triplett's just ready to take one to the house and he looks like he's wanting to but he just can't get that last step.

Yeah, the Grissom Tigers were able to close that one down but Triplett kept making guys miss on that play. He seems to get hit more than any of our other running backs. He just bounces off of one guy to another and is able to pick up positive yardage somehow. DeCarson Johnson in at running back on his third and seven play at the 33. Goolsby will go in motion to the left to have trips to the left side. Davis straight drop. Blitz coming. Davis gets rid of it across the middle and it's caught but only for a short gain at the 31.

McDonald brings it in maybe I think or Green did but it brings up fourth down and five at the 31 and might as well go for it not in sort of in no man's land here. Green does a good job on that ball to really block out the defender and give Kate a nice hard target right up front. Falcons look to go fast. They shift trying to get the Tigers to jump. They did not. Now they'll reset. Still got 16 on the clock and they'll take the timeout.

So Florence will call timeout. We'll do the same. Florence leads it 7-0 here with 8-18 to go in the first half. This is Falcon Football. Come back and see us in 30 seconds. Florence leads it 7-0 and they face fourth and five at their own 31-yard line. They need to touch the 26 to get the first. Green and McDonald to the right two wide to the left. Straight drop. Blitz coming. Gets the pass away and McDonald carries it into his belly. He'll catch it at the 21.

[1:34:08] That'll be enough for a first down. What hands by number seven, Mike? That was a great job by Jimmy to get his hands underneath that ball. That ball was diving down by his toes. He got down underneath it kept it in and secured it for a first down. Good job by Cade to be able to deliver a ball that only his wide receiver can catch. JJ, Cade Davis has a rocket arm when he lets it go. Yes, he definitely threw it low there but I think that's a good spot to hit.

First down play. Tight set. Going to play action. Look to throw. Will Rout trying to get it to Green down the sideline. Goes up and couldn't get it but he's interfered as he was being held down right at the goal line and they'll bring up another first down after the flag. That was a pretty easy call as Green tried to do a jump ball and boxed south the defender and just got pulled down. Yeah, he had a defender on his shoulder pad there and you know Kevante Green all he can do is try and make a play with one hand there.

Couldn't secure it but looks like it's going to be on Grissom here. You know guys one thing I like right now I like seeing this this passing tree route is a lot of different looks. We've thrown the screen we've thrown the hitch we've thrown the wheel I like seeing a lot of variation in the passing game and Falcons are getting more and more comfortable passing the ball. And something that we brought up in pregame that we haven't seen yet was the slant. We saw that in heavy doses last week.

I think that's still tripling at back right now is it right? Somebody's going to be sent off it'll look like an official comes up before we run a play at the first how to get the change set at the 11 yard line so they're going to say it's at the 10 okay so they're going to say first and goal or are they going to have to reset there's the change Falcons can get a first down inside the 1 just outside the 10 just outside. Falcons will shift two backs to the right against a 3-4 look high snap gets it though to Triplett Triplett bounces jiggles far to the 9 only a gain of 1 no room inside Triplett gets hit in the backfield more than any running back I've ever seen he really just I mean as he's receiving the ball he has somebody on his back it seems every time he touches you know last week we played James Clemens their backs were hitting that hole so fast we're looking for the holes and you know that's what you're wanting but right now there's not a lot of sledding right there second down and 9 to go McDonald will go wide to the left 2 to the right play clock at 13 as they get the play in Goalsby and Green to the right side this time going to give it again no play action looking to throw Roland Davis going to run it got to the 7 to the 5 knocked down around the 3 he had a chance to throw it he had a chance to run it and finally pulled it down and goes all the way down to the 3 he missed it he missed it that's the best way to put it Jimmy broke on that on that play and Cade rolled off of him to another receiver didn't see it and then he tucked it and ran he had Jimmy once Jimmy broke he was wide open but you know Cade made something out of nothing there and they left to play another down it's going to be 3rd and 3 and DeCarson Johnson ended up running back on his 3rd and 3 play and play clock at 10 and there was a flag on the play I believe so that should be half the distance but it's not going to be a first down and here comes Bo Bursky here comes Jaden White here comes Mr. Irons and Zoe Martin will be at tailback Zoe Martin and Irons will be at fullback and tailback on this play on the 3rd and 1 play could it be Zoe Martin's first touchdown as a running back we'll see going to leave it with Zoe off the right side Bushes forward into the end zone touchdown Florence 25 goes in how about those linebackers playing offense you know we've seen them work some variations with this jumbo package and they brought in some beef and when you're able to give Zoe Martin the ball with a head of steam look out it's going to be very hard to stop him great job that was a fun play and go Falcons I love it I absolutely love it heavy package now for the PAT Charlie Graves kicks it through the goalpost it's good again you score Florence 14 did they say good on that double check that it was no good it was no good I called it too soon I'm so sorry Charlie Florence leaves it 13 to 0 this is Falcon football we're back in 30 hello my name is Debra Bell Passeur and I'm an quality of legal services to be performed is greater than the quality of legal services performed by other lawyers Falcons Falcons go up 13-0 and they'll kick off with Greenhall Greenhall will drive it deep all the way back to the 10 taken there by the Tigers looking up in the middle and knocked down at the 26-yard line that's where the Tigers have it there and let's get that last drive from John McDaniel for the Florence Falcons Kevin nine plays total of 57 yards and four minutes and 45 seconds that came off the clock in a two-yard touchdown run capped off the drive Falcons lead it 13-0 in my eyesight it's not great but I thought that one went right through but it just missed on the extra point so they'll bring up first and 10 for the Tigers now at the 26 and the Falcons leading it and now you've got a little breathing room Mike you can sort of let your hair down now and play ball yeah I mean as the second quarter is coming to a close the Falcons have done what they need to do in the first half a little cut back by the running back there gets about seven yards number 22 pulling it back through there coming into the game is Barnes second down and two Barnes and Germano are the tailbacks most of the time for this Tiger team they have mixed and matched all year and when you're one and five you'll do that often a new coaching staff etc so they fight hard but just still trying to find their identity a little bit four wide outs for Bailey the quarterback Bailey again going to leave inside this time hit at the line of scrimmage and going nowhere is Barnes the barn the barn door was shut on Barnes and it will bring up third down and three that was a great job by Irons to come around to the outside edge scrape across and get the running back from behind that was just a beautiful play and great instincts by Irons and AJ Dixon in there played a good job on that wall in the defensive line on that play too third and three no backs in the back field for Bailey wants to throw it quick looks he's in trouble gets rid of it outside and incomplete he had people coming at him that time brought a little pressure and he started backpedaling and had to get it out of his hands and bring it fourth down Nate Pride split through two offensive linemen on that play to really rush that throw he came off the block in a hurry and they couldn't even stop him and so great job by the Falcons there to get that three in out and now they're going to get the ball back Marshall Burton will punt it away we're at three minutes to go in the half in a fast paced first half Lawrence leads at 13 zero and the Falcons have 10 on the line of scrimmage don't want to jump here zero come back and see us in 30 Florence utilities offers several ways to view and pay your utility bill log leaves at 13-0 Burton gets the snap back and finally kicks it and J-Shot Pearson will catch it and haul it in at the 39 yard line J-Shot puts that right hand up once twice three times and says don't hit me and he catches the ball and Florence 61 yards away with 2 feet to go and right now K Davis had a little bit of a slot and mcdonald's a try play and play and play and win play and play and s**** everybody with five puts a man in motion got to get the snap off gets the snap going to leave it with triplet triplet gets outside looking for a little block can't get it no one block for him and he's brought down hard back at the 33 yard line he'll lose yardage and that's not triplet's fault right there no over and over again we see the same thing he's getting the ball and he's getting hit right away and I'm not sure what we're doing differently in this run game but we've really struggled getting it going the last two games he's really doing a good job of making the first guy miss a lot of times they make three and four and five miss second down and 13 I know it's frustrating for this offensive south and now a penalty and I think Florence called timeout Kenny Marson had enough he's a little upset at his team we'll take a timeout as well Florence leads at 13 0 2 13 to start off with fresh tortilla chips and Hugo's famous cheese dip then enjoy mouthwatering tacos enchiladas and of course Hugo's famous fajitas and more all in a vibrant atmosphere we're open Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday until 9pm and until 930 on Friday and Saturday Hugo's is our new favorite spot Hugo's Mexican restaurant where every meal is a fiesta see you soon at 4160 Florence Boulevard at the entrance to Kendall Gardens back at Brawley Stadium Florence up by 13 they though have now 64 yards to go after the loss of three it'll be second down and 13 two wide outs each side for Davis facing a three man front and that time the Tigers jump hard count by Davis works get five of it back and that's you know that's smart football right there you lose three man we're getting this passing down get five back Mike you know you'll take it yeah you definitely will take it but you can't you can't rely on those sort of things how about we get positive yards on first down and then not have to do that play straight drop looking to pass throws across the middle and it's complete down at the 50 to the 45 to the 40 Goolsby has it inside the 35 and all the way down to the 33 what a throw there from the quarterback Davis to Goolsby that was a great job by Davis to really set his feet identify the receiver as he was making his break Goolsby with a nice smooth catch over the middle being able to make a man miss catch some extra yardage and get a big first down for the Falcons appreciate everyone listening in since there's nothing on the NFHS tonight we're glad to bring you the broadcast only here first and 10 at the 33 one back one back slides to the left for the quarterback Davis got the hot and looks to throw the quick out got it to Pearson Jay shot inside the 25 down the 24 oh when two gets it he's like a hiccup he's so quick he just touches the ball in open space and you just hold your breath don't you Mike yeah definitely we you know when he burst out of the scene early on and we saw him on offense for the first time in Huntsville and he was just a game changer even got the defense's eyes off other players keeping them open as well second one looks to the left it's Davis going for the deep pass all the way to the end zone got him out there it is in the hands of the player yes it's going to be caught that is a touchdown for Florence incredible pass goes to Jimmy McDonald again and Florence goes up 19 to 0 what a pass by Cade and what a great job by Jimmy to be able to do that but Cade getting a little loft on that ball so that Jimmy could track it down and haul that one in that's just a beautiful job there and you know as Cade Cade is really showing a hot hand here tonight I mean Jeffrey Jones has become very accurate J.J.

[1:47:36] beautiful beautiful pass this time Graves for the PAT oh that one no good as well so got a little pressure come up the middle that time no good on the extra point new score 19-0 Florence holds the lead this is Falcons football we're back in 30 with locations in Tuscumbia Florence Muscle Shoals Russell Killen Madison and Athens Singing River Dentistry provides the most advanced dental the way back inside the 10 at the 5 they'll bring it back out 15-20 got a little hole and finally knocked down and closed up there at the 27-yard line that's where the Tigers will have it there first and 10 under two minutes to go here in the second quarter and that last drive by the Falcons was a beauty leading at 13-0 and John McDaniel they did what they needed to do quick strike four plays 62 yards total 25-yard touchdown pass but a minute and 13 off the clock 62-yard drive and you know guys we'll talk about it but let's be honest the identity of this Florence team they're a passing team no doubt about it Mike absolutely you know and this is the this is the first time that the Falcons have really had their prolific pass offense and really being able to hit those big plays like that this is something new that we're seeing from the Falcons and it's definitely great to see Bo Berski was a little anxious on that he got called for getting to the neutral zone and he's brought out real quickly by his coaching staff over there that said hey make a penalty you come out of the game and the coach comes over and says come back and stand with me you're going back in soon first and five I like that though by coaching staff coaching pulls him out but talks to him and says hey it's okay just settle down and get ready long count here for the Tigers first and five at the 32 Bailey gets the snap going to leave it Jermano the running back up the middle and the Falcon defense really good right there no gain they'll bring up second down and we'll call it four to go this Falcon defense line filling the holes tonight Jaden White and friends much better on that after that first drive they've really settled things down Mike yeah they definitely have and the Falcons look like they've made some adjustments up front and really have held the line quite well running a three man front sometimes adding that linebacker in there adding a fourth guy just really solidified that line up front under a minute to go Grissom faces second down and four they're letting the clock run some down 19-0 Bayley gets the snap going to leave with his back again he's hitting the backfield and that's tremendous play again and guess who 95 starting to flex his muscle up front a little bit Jaden White the sophomore Jaden White exploded off that snap there got through his men and really created some havoc in the backfield he wanted that play you saw him how energized he was as he got up he's super excited and he's ready to play again third down and seven from the 31 we're under almost 30 seconds to go now way down to 10 actually they're not even going to run the snap they're going to let it run down and say we'll go to the half so that'll do it for one half of football as Grissom will let the clock run out and Florence leads it at the half over Grissom 19-0 and the boys in blue go sprinting to the locker room as they are taking control of this one in the first half as they should Florence Westbrook as well absolutely speaking of it is National Principals Month so shout out to Westy we're very fortunate to have him and he tolerates me extremely well so that's a gold star for him all the way yeah there has been a time or two throughout the first semester where I've had to tell him I don't feel sorry for you but I have to deal with her at home so other than that so tell us some of the highlights of the first semester so far you know there's been some really good accomplishments we have done sorry the band is getting ready to hit the field I'm so excited to watch them we have had a really good a good academic year our kids have done extremely well we were very proud of our test scores last year the growth that our kids have shown has been just amazing all of our programs are thriving our launch program which I can't say enough great things about you know we are being recognized all over the state for all the wonderful things that our kids are doing and that our faculty members are promoting and taking their time to invest in it's just it's really been phenomenal so one thing that you know being a related to it administrators so many things going on in the school you know you don't just have football and you know volleyball going on right now you have all kinds of things you have dance five-five programs and that sort of thing tell us a little bit about the extracurriculars this year it's been awesome we do have all kinds of programs there is something for everyone at Florence High School it does not matter what you're into whether you're an introvert or an extrovert it doesn't matter if you like broadcasting or if you're into scholars bowl we have all of the things one of the things I'm most proud of when I tell people that I work for Florence High School is that they immediately recognize we have the most diverse group of kids and we have the most diverse offerings out of any school in the state it's really quite impressive our schedule alone is just enormous it's very much like a college campus in that you can find the curriculum that meets your needs and prepares you for what's coming next it's truly amazing not only that you touched on it earlier but about the dual enrollment program and the launch program as well tell us a little bit more about that that people might not know about well launch is all about launching our kids into their future career paths and I'm a huge advocate for try it out now let's see you know if you think you want to be an orthopedic surgeon sit through that first surgery and let's make sure that's really what you want to do you know so this is a great opportunity and it also makes our students so competitive for scholarship opportunities and for those selective colleges when they apply and they can you know have an admissions interview and tell someone hey I'm actually doing rounds at the hospital right now and I'm preparing for what I want to major in on your campus it just really speaks volumes I have to brag on Caden Sledge one of our recent graduates he was just selected as part of the broadcast team at the University of Alabama extremely competitive program and he started that interest and that career path at Florence High School working with our TV production crew and preparing in that way so it's really interesting how it all seems to fall into place for our students I'll tell you next door to our booth here we got another Florence graduate that stayed on to work and he found his way as the drum major and in the band Jacob Adams so he does our scoreboard and our electronics so it's great to see the multiple ways you can go when you leave Florence High School or Florence City Schools into the career path that's best fit for you well and I gotta say this too we have really as a district done an amazing job of starting like pre-k all the way through we have a vision of what we want our students to become and we've really worked hard to align that from the very beginning you know when they're just leaving the nest or starting to build their nest all the way to when they leave it with us so it's been it's been really awesome to watch that take place a little off script here but not like we even had a script but if you couldn't tell one thing that I've noticed throughout the years is watching these kids progress from one year to the next sometimes you don't see them over the summer for a couple months and they come back and it's a totally different person it is my favorite part of this job watching our kids grow up right in front of you is really cool you know I have we we have one child at home but I tell people all the time I have about 1400 of them and I it's so awesome to get to be in the hallways with them and we were just talking about in the history department the other day from the beginning of 10th grade they grow so much they don't even look like the same child by the time they get to 12th grade it's just really it's a really fun time to watch so last little thing I'm going to mention here is we have a national merit semifinalist is that correct we have a few and they are going to be revealed at our next home football game so you'll have to stay tuned for that oh okay all right I didn't know okay so we're going to take a one minute timeout and we'll be back right after this have you ever seen those halftime scholarships where you have to nail a 40-yard field goal yeah this isn't that I didn't have to write a long essay or audition or make a half court shot I just had to open a bank independent account use my debit card sign up for online banking and have a positive balance that's it a 20% scholarship to UNA when bank independent invests in students like me they're I'll be on President impressive here the Big Blue Band at Brawley Stadium Kevin Johnson here with you we had one special guest with us earlier today assistant principal Caroline Jones who does an excellent job she was interviewed by her husband Jeff Jones he does a pretty good job too but you know what there's another Jones and tonight I'm excited I get to interview the youngest person I've ever interviewed in all my years of broadcasting the daughter of Caroline and Jeffrey Jones Stella Jones how are you doing tonight I'm good I like that who's your favorite team you like the Falcons obviously I like that that's a good answer there that's good so let me ask you a couple of questions tonight first of all do you ever listen to the radio when your dad's on the radio you do now who's your favorite of all four broadcasters who's your favorite one you good answer great answer I knew that was it and we're big buddies Stella and ours hey Stella I'm going to ask you a couple of questions about football okay are you ready what does the quarterback do in a football game well the center he tosses the ball to the quarterback and the quarterback has a decision to either run with the ball or to throw it to another team are you available to be the sideline reporter you're a lot better than your dad that's pretty good right there by the way what grade are you in Stella I'm in fifth grade fifth grade I like that that's great now let me ask you Stella as we speak with Stella Jones would you rather be a cheerleader a majorette or a radio broadcaster I think I probably would be a cheerleader because they get to wear really cute outfits and a majorette I don't really know my hand and eye coordination okay so you do take after your dad don't you no I take after your mama and I don't really know a ton about football so I don't think I could understand the conversation in a radio broadcaster you're doing a great job right now and by the way I know you talked about which outfit was the favorite to wear you do take after your dad about that he is all about that he's a diva too let me ask you another question Stella Jones what's your favorite food to get at the concession stand on a Thursday night or Friday night at Florence Gang if you could go to the concession stand what food do you want to get that's a tough one isn't it probably the cotton candy cotton candy I like it that's a good one as well and by the way we appreciate all those that work at the concession stand many band parents do a great job and we appreciate them now is there anyone listening tonight you'd like to say hi kickoff you'll hear right here on 93.9 the score on Saturday morning JJ Alabama looked really good in the last two games are they going to continue to roll I'll make my analyzation pretty quick this is not the Missouri of past they've got a great running back it's going to be a tough one up there in Missouri today Saturday for the Crimson Tide I'm going to take Missouri wow okay the upset I've heard some people say that you're not the first one to say that John McDonald Daniel what do you say there you've owned me my whole life you're still McDonald at least tonight Jesus it's not going to be much of an upset it won't be much of an upset it won't be much of an upset and I I think it's going to be all Alabama can do because they don't stop the run well I think they'll hit a big pass play but that's going to be a tough game a tough game we say all right but Alabama wins it Mike I'm going to go with the home team here I'm going to I'm going to go with Missouri I really do I am not impressed by Alabama whatsoever they okay they beat Georgia but they they came out they did not look great last week and Missouri is going to be ready for them as well looking a little bit ahead to Tennessee maybe and I think they fall Alabama 42 Missouri 17 it's not going to be close and y'all all know it I can't believe I mean they're going to blow them out listen Eli got on the SEC media talks and asked DeBoer a question and said hey coach you're wearing the black shirt and he laughed about it thought it was funny don't poke the bear he just did and so it's going to be all Alabama 42 to 17 don't put DeBoer and bear in the same sentence ever again absolutely they're all in there together I think that was a genuine question he was kind of hoping he would not wear the black well speaking of tough games how about Saturday night down in Jordan here Georgia comes to town to Auburn can the Tigers after the off week sort of rally the troops and find their offense JJ a little little I think the spread on that not that I pay attention to that sort of thing is about four and a half last I checked three okay wow somebody checks it more than I do up in the booth it wasn't me I think no it was not Kevin I don't know I think that's deceiving very deceiving I'm going to take Georgia pretty handily at least about 10 to 14 okay all right John you said Georgia by 10 I'll echo that I think Georgia by 10 I am Mike it's going to be closer than that I really do I think I mean on the planes after an off week Georgia's been kind of beat up a little bit I do think Georgia wins it but it's probably going to be a little bit closer than that I'm taking the Tigers it's the time they're going to circle the wagons they're at home it's at night we haven't I'll take the Tigers on the upset knocking off Georgia and throwing Georgia in a really deep hole in the playoff hunt as well do y'all see any upsets coming in college football this weekend when you look around Oklahoma Texas well you know is it really that big of a game I mean everybody keeps talking about it okay well I think it's Oklahoma wins it pretty easily even with their backup yes absolutely really I'll take Oklahoma on that I'll take Oklahoma on that I'll take Texas I'll go opposite yeah that's not a bad call I'll take that not sure if material's going to play the guys out in the arid regions think it's a one point game which is to say pick them so okay by the way South Carolina goes to LSU anybody thinking LSU all LSU on that yeah all right Tennessee and Arkansas will be played at Tennessee can Arkansas go on the road new coach new scheme I don't know yeah but that coach you know he's new but he's got a lot of experience so I mean but they've only had a week to prepare so all right and finally Texas A&M and Florida at Texas A&M Florida gets their big win can they make it two in a row nobody believes that I don't think so either Florida Florida's offense is really not all that great they had a decent week but Texas isn't phenomenal either it's one of those I think Texas A&M just at home that's the great equalizer they're going to win that game I'm really impressed by Texas A&M they impress me more and more every week with their defense and their offense can get it going that's a dangerous team in the SEC Texas A&M may be one of the better teams any upset I do think Texas A&M is going to lose at least two games down the stretch I don't see it maintained throughout the full year I'll give you my upset of the week I said Auburn over Georgia I'm going to take Indiana to go on the road and knock off Oregon I'm going to take Indiana I'm telling Kirk Signetti by the way 1993 he was standing right across the way at Brawley Stadium watching his dad coach against North Alabama in the Division 2 game he is a winner his dad was a winner and we'll see how it plays out and that's a great equalizer he was here at Brawley therefore he's going to win the rest of his games that's why you guys work with me and I don't work with y'all how about that I'm going to show my ignorance here I'm sorry who's his dad coaching for for Indiana University Pennsylvania IUP IUP IUP yep so that's it well the Falcons will kick off to start the third quarter as they lead at 19 to 0 we appreciate you listening to the TNT Fireworks halftime show the extended version there had a lot of fun a lot of text messages saying the best interview that we've had in years was Stella Jones thank her so much for being with us tonight Greenhall to kick it off left or right as you listen to us Florence in the home blue uniforms white pants blue helmets and grissom and grissom in the orange pants orange helmets and white jerseys don't forget next week Florence on the road at Huntsville is Greenhall good kick that one drops all the way in the end zone touchback and I like seeing that Mike Calverson that could pay dividends down the road if Greenhall starts getting that foot where he puts it in the end zone a lot yeah he's done a great job thus far and he really drove that one that was carried over everyone's head into the end zone we haven't had a touch back all year and that was our first one so great job other than the one we had earlier that's the second of the year that's right it bounced through a little bit harder you can't make it's the second one tonight but you can't make mistakes on this radio crew because y'all are going to let us know about it every time trust me if anybody knows that KJ knows that as the full moon rises over Brawley Stadium first and 10 for the Grissom Tigers back to pass empty set throws the screen inside got it at the 23-25 runner in 30 and he breaks a tackle he may go 40-45 Washington down the right sideline to the 50 and chased down from behind finally brought down at the 30 by Sistrunk or he would have been gone and there was the speed that you see from CJ Washington and the Falcon defense sleepwalk coming out of the third quarter and all of a sudden Tigers hit a big play they dialed up the right play at the right time they threw that screen they tried to do it a couple times in the first half it did not go so well that time they found the seam and a hole and it was off to the races Jay Shaw Pearson wound up coming out with the tackle in the open field there to save the touchdown first and 10 at the 28th in Florence territory as we start the third quarter Grissom down by 19 but trying to knock on the door bring a man in motion around the right side going to leave it Jermano inside no look to pass now he's scrambling away now he's in trouble and just has to get rid of it great coverage there Carter Graves on the coverage with the cast on had a broken thumb I think it was our thumb ligaments injury and back after two or three weeks that's pretty impressive to see Mike yeah it definitely was he had some medical care he was able to rehab a little bit make sure that he's cleared to go he got the all clear practice for a week and now he's back in so it's great to see him anytime a senior goes down anytime any player goes down it's not great but as a senior being able to fight back and really come back in the second half of the season is great second down and ten empty set for Bailey the quarterback going to run the quarterback trial right up the middle and he's not going to get a whole lot gets maybe two before he's brought down that defensive line was waiting on that one and brings up third down and eight just underway here in the third quarter 1107 county Grissom with a big play of about 50 yards to put it in Falcon territory trying to get their first score of the night third down though and nine to go from the 28-yard line this Falcon crowd on Thursday night not a bad crowd actually for a Thursday night considering its fall break and all this going on so good to see the Falcon fans out here third and nine Bailey the quarterback will put two to each side gets the snap looks left throws quickly out here and it's caught and hit immediately at the 21-yard line and Carter Graves came like a missile he hit him right as he caught it but on the other side there was a flag called right in front of the Grissom bench let's see what that was could have been a defensive hold and if so it could be a penalty we'll wait and see what the flag is for I don't know how it could be defensive hold that was such a fast pass out here to the sideline and Carter Graves chopped him down yet they're looking and I think they're going to say nothing nothing yeah so they'll say gain actually of two to the 25 yard line out I don't know how they got all the way to the 23 yard line so they gave them way more yards than I thought so we're bringing up fourth down the down marker says third down am I wrong I have it as fourth Kevin it should be fourth down unless that play unless there was a penalty assessed it could have been as it was a dead ball penalty then it would be third down now the whistle blows again the white hat sees it going to weigh the officials back together and they'll have a meeting again the ball is spotted at the 23 they have to get the line the game would be 18 for a first down let's see coach morrison agrees that it's fourth down they're changing it is fourth down so fourth down at the 23 and now decision time for Grissom coach Preston Judah in his first season and I think he might bring the offense back out he was thinking field goal he's bringing his offense back out he'll go for it so have two wide outs to the wide side two to the left all that confusion was almost like a time out gave the coach an opportunity to think about that one for a second know where Logan Morris he's in the slot over here to the left straight drop looks left pressure coming in the pocket sack going down back at the 30 slinging him down bringing him down and a falcon defense comes up big once again that one was Peters coming in off the blitz and knocks him to the ground Derek Peters came around the edge on the outside and he was relentless on that pursuit he was able to bring down the quarterback there for the sack huge play there by Peters great job that is a great stop there by the Florence Falcons defense Jeffrey Jones I don't know if you made it to the 30 that was a pretty big stop for huge stop good momentum keep the momentum in our hands in the third quarter now our job is the job the offense to move the ball hold on to the ball and put it in the end zone goes being Nelson out there but they're going to give the back in the backfield and nowhere to run for triple again but he breaks a couple tackles pushes forward across the 35 and all the out to the 38 yard line 39 that was all triplet absolutely all triplet he got back to the line of scrimmage he already had two guys on his shoulder pads he was able to pull one off and continue to fight forward was able to get another two or three guys to break a tackle and got about an eight yard gain there that was impressive tell you what I know it's just a sight but it's a beautiful sight with the full moon coming over Brawley Stadium here on a Thursday night gorgeous weather high school football at its best hope you're getting out to support high school football wherever you are this weekend as well second down and two at the 38 for the Falcons leading at 19-0 triplets going to get another chance going to use the speed and get outside got a block to the 40 cut it back inside to the 45 breaks going he wants that big run so bad and you can tell it right there that's the triplet we know he was able to bounce that one to the outside once he got a full head of steam it was smooth sailing for him he was able to bounce off a couple guys trying to make some arm tackles almost lost the ball mid run had a guy almost stripped that ball he held it tight was able to break that tackle as well and get a first down first down in Tiger territory at the 41 Tigers show blitz they back out of it Davis catches it with 14 he's really good at checking back when he sees something he doesn't like three man front now forward here comes the blitz gets rid of it quickly complete got it on the sideline to green makes a man miss at the 40 skips far to the 35 pushes far down to the 30 give him 11 on the carry after the catch and again Davis quick with understanding what's going on there Mike the blitz was coming right from that area and that's a great spot to throw it once you know where the defender's coming from he threw it right to that wide receiver in the slot there come on that green made a guy miss right off the jump and it was a nice nifty little move with his feet being able to pick up a first down after the catch John Kay Davis is really playing like a senior he's really tonight is his best game he's played his ball placement has been superb to go back looks to pass across the middle got it complete to Jimmy McDonald who breaks the tackle at the 10 to the vibe down to the 2 again right there Kevin perfect ball placement kind of a deep slant hits Jimmy perfectly in slide so he can keep running he's done a great job even when he scrambled he's gotten extra yards best game he's played this season Jimmy McDonald coming off the field he was a little gimpy going into this game toughing it out that was a great catch there in his first and goal ball placed at the one yard line Falcons bring in in the back field now Marquise Andrews Andrews in the back field high quarterback under center is Davis Davis might sneak it here Davis looks to give it to Andrews Andrews right up the middle Bulls forward into the end zone touchdown so Florence adds to the lead as Marquise Andrews the senior gets a touchdown tonight and Falcons extend the lead to 25 to nothing it was a great job by the Falcons to really come out get that ball and really march it down the field being able to run it and pass it as well Andrews being able to punch it in with a touchdown that's great to see so many different Falcons touching the ball on the drive Charlie Graves to attempt the PAT you hand back the snap Davis to hold this time everything perfect on the exchange the kick on the way this time it is good new score Florence leads it 26 to zero this is Falcon football we're back in 30 hello my name is Keith Medley and I'm an attorney with the law firm of Johnson Passeur Medley and Burchell why call an out-of-town lawyer when you can call our law firm which has over 100 years of combined experience in all areas of the law if you have a legal matter services to be performed is greater than the quality of legal services performed by other lawyers back at Brawley Stadium with a full moon rising over this historic stadium in Florence Alabama the Falcons lead it now 26 to zero and Greenhall will kick it away back to the five yard line where the Tigers will have their straight up the middle 20 and boy chopped down at the 22 that's a big time tackle right there coming up making a play right in the middle the Falcons chopping down brings up first and 10 at the 23 yard on that last drive for Florence John McDaniel Kevin it was two minutes and two seconds off the clock but it was five plays and covered 70 yards and finished off with a one yard touchdown run Ja'Kylan Jones on that tackle let's talk about him for a minute he's been incredible coming in playing cornerback he's really found his spot he really has he's done a great job he's really flashed all over the field both on special teams and on defense really been a great coverage corner being able to make breaks on the balls and knock some things away empty set Bailey wants to pass blitz on the way he throws the screen to Moore Moore caught it 25 to the 30 got the first down across the 34 that's a big tight end and that's a nice little play right there threw everything to the left and the tight end sort of slipped up to the right but a flag on the play yeah there was a hold right right in on that play I saw Falcon basically get turned around by one of the Grissom players and as the Falcon was disengaging from him you saw a big big old blue jersey being able to be pulled off his shoulder pad so Grissom is going to be called for a hold on that one but they saw something that they like in the little screen game they had some success with the last drive went with it right away and found a little more success maybe aided by that hold but look for some teams to try and exploit that against us in the future as well penalty will push it back to the 15 first down and about 18 to go as the big blue band plays and strikes up the band and they look to pass get the pass away but incomplete pretty good job by Bailey had to get rid of it brings up second down and a long way to go Jeffrey Jones on the sideline when a team like Florence playing tonight starting to have a little fun out there as well yeah one thing to notice the cornerback on this side is back from an injury for a couple of weeks Carter Graves so it's good to see him back he had surgery a couple weeks ago and he's doing great so yeah we're meshing as a unit for sure second down and about 18 to go for the Tigers 12 on the play clock seven and a half minutes to go in the quarter looks throw down deep in the middle wide opening incomplete had a man there if he could got it to him but he overthrew him and bring up third down that little seam route with five wide receivers that's tough dude maybe might have been even tipped a little bit Mike it was tipped great job by the Falcons defensive line but once he saw the quarterback kind of rear back their hands went straight up tipped that ball that seam route was wide open that was one of those plays that if that wasn't tipped that might have been six the other way by the way I want to say thank you to a couple of listeners listening in tonight my good friends Bill and Karen Cunningham listening in appreciate them that happens to be my sister and her husband they're great listeners to 93-9 the score third down and a long way to go for the Tigers trips to the left one to the right Bailey the quarterback blitz coming right up the middle he's in trouble he goes down back to the four Falcons starting to bring some pressure there Zoe Martin gets the sack yeah Zoe came right up the gut untouched it's bad news for Grissom when that happens and he was able to break down he was just trying to keep the play in front of him actually hesitated for a second and the quarterback didn't really do anything and Zoe just wrapped him up and took him down John what does that blitz call when the middle linebacker comes you call it a lot of things ace or mac or whatever you call it it was wide open for Zoe on that one that was called uh-oh for Grissom right there short snap gets rid of the kick quickly and it's a short kick Pearson gets up here and can pick it up and it goes out of bounds at the 21 yard line that kick went about 15 yards did not even get back to the line to the original line of scrimmage so the Falcons pressure comes up the middle the defense holds and right now they lead at 26-0 with six and a half minutes 642 exactly to go here in the third quarter don't forget Saturday morning the Crimson Tide and Missouri kick off college football at 11 a.m you'll hear it right here at 11 a.m on 93.9 the score 9 a.m pregame following the coaches breakfast which is from 8 to 9 the abbreviated version we'll do the car wash edition as I call it as we'll run coaches in and out quickly talk about their games and get them back home so they can watch the Crimson Tide of Missouri and turn it on on 93.9 the score so Saturday morning get up early have a cup of coffee and breakfast and turn on the radio on 93.9 the score to be a great day for high school football review and college football as well first and 10 for Florence at the 21 Davis play action looks throwing to the right sideline wide opens green got it touchdown Kavante with an up and under move and Davis is on fire throwing the football tonight and Florence leads it now 32 to nothing that was a great job by Kade Davis to be able to loft that ball up giving Kavante an opportunity to beat his defender he absolutely did went right into the basket perfect perfect job there by Kade just what a tremendous job this young man's done with this offense being able to throw the ball around tonight Falcons get ready for the PAT PAT is up PAT is good new score Florence leads it now by the score of 33 to 0 this is Falcon football we're here at Brawley Stadium and a big night for Florence on the Thursday night that last drive John McDaniel it was just one play Kevin but it was a 21 yard beautiful touchdown pass Greenhouse kick all the way back driving deep high kick to the 6 yard line taken by the Tigers there up the middle and close lined at the 23 and the ball is out the ball is loose and Florence may have gotten it I think they did and they do at the 26 yard line and everything Florence's way right now I'm not sure who made the hit but I think again it might have been Ja'Kyle and Jones came out with the ball I don't know if he was the one that knocked it away there was too much traffic a lot of traffic down here but the Falcons are having fun Jeffrey Jones yes they are much needed you know everybody's playing loose now you're going to see some players that we haven't seen much of this year and that's going to be a great thing to see you know it's always hard to tell who's going to be going in because they bring in the whole offense on the sideline to huddle up and then we see 11 run out there on the field and the rest of them walk back to the they better hurry yeah 13 seconds left on the play clock going out at quarterback now is Costin Mahan you'll have DeJohnson in the backfield they probably don't get this off they don't hurry play clock at three down to two down to one they're not going to get the snap off and so that's a little late getting everybody together but they knew that was coming so they'll take the five yard penalty and they'll bring up first down and 15 after the delay of the game you know I really don't enjoy that for one reason one reason only you've got plenty of timeouts and you've just sent the freshman quarterback out there now he's looking around going what did I do he wasn't sure what happened there I'm with you on that first and 15 at the 32 just need a little more room to operate here Mahan back past quick threat screen gets it out here to Elliott breaks the tackle at the 30 to the 25 give him about eight on that Nelson Elliott scoots forward nice throw and catch right there and I like the way he led Elliott as well he led Elliott beautifully great hands by Elliott wound up finding some green space put a defender there was able to pick up eight beautiful yards it was great you know Cade McGuire the offensive coordinator I give him credit he's got the ball in a lot of different people's hands tonight you know you get you want players engaged in your system you get them the ball a little bit and so when you're able to distribute the ball like this it's fun for everybody and then watching the Falcons kind of run pretty smooth Mahan going to lead with Johnson off the left side breaks forward to the 22 before he's knocked down a game of about four brings up third and about four the Falcons have to touch the 18 as they go towards the end zone where the new construction is going on it's going to look great out there Jeffrey Jones doing a lot of work yeah I always like to get here and notice what they've done over the last few weeks looks like the footers are being being dug right now so it's going to be a beautiful facility can't wait to see it the footers are out there now the footers are being set on the field for this Falcon team third and four Mahan going to leave it again with Johnson off the right side good block on the outside cut it up Johnson to the 15 and got it to the 10 inside the 10 round of the 5 I'm not sure who made the block on the outside but somebody got a pancake and it was a pancake with syrup and butter and a little bit of jelly that's the one that's one of those that will look back on films and that's the way you do it yeah whenever the offensive lineman can get that sort of leverage on a guy and put him to the turf like that that's going to get the entire O-line fired up first and goal at the 5 Johnson the tailback I think now we're checked they've got a different tailback in let's see who it is that's still Johnson Johnson off the left side uses his speed gets away from one but can't get away from two and still go down and lose a couple of yards try to run the stretch play but the stretch play was shut down that time by the Tigers and bring a second down and go from the seven yeah Johnson was being hit as he was getting the ball there just really didn't have much opportunity to get anything going was able to kind of break away for a second but couldn't get back to the line of scrimmage still in the third quarter four minutes plus Florence leads this one 33-0 over Grissom and the Falcons doing what they're supposed to do in this game they've taken control of it the defense pitching a shutout timeout taken by the Falcons we'll do the same Florence up big against Grissom at Brawley Stadium you're listening to Falcon football come back and see us in 30 seconds hi I'm Dr.

Dixon says I'll take you right here and bring you down so he gets up off the bottom of the pile and brings up third down but Mike you know you talk about a guy like Shepard a senior who doesn't get to see the ball in his hands much but when he does tonight he scores that'll be something he'll remember the rest of his life Oh absolutely you know being able to get some reps for your team in a victory situation so far the Falcons have done a great job but Shepard being able to go in and have that moment he'll remember that forever a lot of new faces in for the Falcons on this second I think it's third down they got a second out third and three they're going to lead with the back and he's hit again bounces away gets brought down in the backfield and get no game great job of the Falcon D again that's Chase Winkles Winkles comes up makes the play and OC CW he's just a he's just a sophomore I'm looking forward to watching him for the next two years you're seeing him each and every week you know just develop being in just solid position at all times his instincts you can tell he's played a lot of football just his development this year has been great his dad has reached out to me a couple times got to talk to him very nice man and see him at practice sometimes Chase Winkles is going to be special before it's done there's a couple of sophomores are going to be pretty good Jaden White's another one I really like obviously gotten the starting job at nose guard the Tigers will punt it away get the snap it bounce to him but he'll punt it away and back look to take it but he'll let it go and it hits and picked up by the Falcons at the 40 at the 35 and at the 30 he just so the Falcons really you know you look at right now they don't have a lot of options to put running back so they've gone three or four deep tonight I think even right now triplets going to get back in there taken in by believe that was J.B.

[2:45:03] and Fuqua Fuqua yeah Fuqua come in there number 86 only a senior as well 5'9 155 we get two yards on the carry Sullivan Haddock in Nelson Elliott don't be surprised if Haddock don't get a catch right here or an opportunity to do put it that way second down and eight triplet off the left side going to use the speed get away nope couldn't get away this time and brought down in the back field bless his heart he can't go anywhere where the Tigers aren't waiting on everybody else is wide open triplet hasn't been wide open yet Johnson sneaked in on in in on there so bring up third down and about 12 to go checking into the game for the Falcons now will be Omari and Martin at wide receiver but we're going to let that clock run down to the fourth quarter it's been all Florence on the Thursday night they won one last week in Madison they're trying to win another Thursday night game here Florence leads at 40-0 this is Falcon football we're back in one minute James Moody with a score update Decatur leading Mae Jemison 7-6 Tanner leads Decatur Heritage 18-12 Madison County leading Westminster Christian 18-0 in the NFL the Giants leading the Eagles 20-17 in college football Tulane leads East Carolina 12-7 Southern Miss leads Georgia Southern 21-7 Jack State leads Sam Houston 17-14 the Dodgers have defeated the Phillies 2-1 and advanced to the NLCS the Cubs leading the Brewers right now 3-0 we'll join that one after this one now for the fourth quarter thank you James Moody at Brawley Stadium under a full moon a lot of Falcon points and the Falcons look to go to 4-3 on the season but more importantly 4-1 in region play still right at the top tied with Austin and Spartman Johnson will be the tailback with a freshman quarterback 6'2 225 pound Costin Mahan you'll hear his name a lot two wide receivers to each side against the three man front Mahan gets them to jump little hard count and the Tigers got caught on that one that's a five yard going the other way so to make it now a little easier third and we'll call it eight to go and you know Mike one thing about it is there's a lot of film work now for teams to see a lot of different things we've shown tonight on the passing game right and you know being able to do multiple had those options and so the Falcons being able to develop that has been huge Mahan straight drop throws across the middle and it is incomplete try to get it to if anybody out here wants to make this one this is the one he's been waiting on right here got to get good protection and back to snap good snap good hole kick on the way it's going to be close it is good he drills it from 42 and his team mobs him that boy Charlie I don't way to go as he's knocked down and Florence leads it 43 to zero this is this is Miranda Haddock with the Florence Education Foundation we would like to extend an invitation to our 8th annual Shoals Also Showdown on Saturday November 15th from 2-5 PM at Singing River Brewery local restaurants and Foundation dot org we would like to thank our gold and silver sponsors TNT Fireworks Forsyth and Long United Community Bank First Southern Bank Greaseby Properties First Metro Bank Chick-fil-A Bank Independent United Benefits and Johnson & Mayhem Dental We want to wish Coach Morrison and the Falcon football team good luck this season Back at Brawley Stadium every senior you could think of getting Charlie Graves who just nailed it from 42 yards out his longest field goal of his career that last drive wasn't bad there John no it was four plays I'm sorry yeah four plays but only covered five yards minute and a half off the clock but Charlie demonstrating his tremendous kicking ability it's a great job by him kicking I tell you what he won't sleep tonight that one made his night right there we'll talk about it in a minute Graves will kick it off puts a foot into it going to be driven deep left hand corner at the eight trying to come back down the sideline and knocked out of bounds about the 27 yard line that's where the Tigers have it there Jeffrey Jones you were behind the goal post and seeing could he get the length I've gotten a little animated on the sidelines the last few weeks I've been called out on it a little bit it's easy to get excited for these kids success is always it sets the tone for the whole year for these kids a good football season sets the tone for the whole school for the whole year these guys are really setting a good example for the school and representing us well I tell you what this Falcon team has played so well tonight I'm going to go ahead and say no school tomorrow that's what I'm thinking that's big no school tomorrow that'll be good I think they'll all take you up on that that's good first and 10 for the Tigers they go up the middle not much room now he bounces forward he got a little running room to the 34 that's the big blue band and cheerleaders celebrate down the way they do an excellent job in stands keeping the energy going that's for sure Josh Brown on that tackle there new nose tackle Rashad on that play was all over the place you can see he's taking his reps super seriously he fought off two offensive linemen and came in late almost securing that tackle second down and five to go they put some man in motion looking around the quarterback dropped the middle and he's hit gets away gets up to the 40 and is drugged down there at the 41 yard line but that'll be right at the first down marker and enough to move the chains as the tackle was made by Florence is Dale Thompson the sophomore comes up and knocks him down but it'll be first new set of downs for the Tigers who trail Florence 43 to 0 don't forget so next week it's a Friday night game Milton Frank Stadium and it's a really good team I'm telling you this team may be playing as well as anyone in our region the Huntsville Panthers tremendous defense really big strong team the Falcons will go on the road and they need all the support they can get so make your plans to be there and we'll have the call for you here on 93.9 the score first down for the Tigers at the 40 inside give cut back against the grain and hit from behind and knocked down Thompson needs to tackle again that safety coming in making a play come off the edge and in the back Geronimo sort of got Geronimo he can just come right back into him so to bring second down and nine JJ I know you got the marker down there saying all these players we got a lot of new faces playing right now Landon Rainer just checked in we got Hayden Lotz another sophomore just checked in playing linebacker there 49 Gerald Copeland getting in 27 Landon yeah Landon Rainer second down and nine to go against the three man front for the Tigers they're going to run the quarterback again kind of block out the side but he's looking to hesitate and finally again slung out of bounds this time again by Wes Fuqua who comes up and makes the play and they'll bring up third and about four to go for the Tigers under 10 minutes to go here in the game Falcons leading at 43 to zero the highest put out of points this year Mike we have not even come close we've been in the 20s if you look at this offense and all of the Falcon teams it's being 20s or below but the other thing is this defense is throwing the shutout I know that's being mentioned quite a bit on the sideline absolutely you know the Falcons have done a great job tonight let's see if they continue to pitch shutout man will go in motion again run the quarterback draw at the left side and Bailey will get the first down across midfield and push forward down to the 45 that's a tough run there by Bailey but he'll push forward I think that's number eight Andrew Capel they're going to bring out this backup quarterback so Capel will run in Capel comes in for quarterback Bailey he's a junior only about five foot seven they don't list the weights getting rosters sometimes from opposing teams is like getting money from Jeffrey Jones it's not easy it's protected that's for sure it's protected gotta wait you know there's a cooling off period you gotta wait 30 days cooling off period Elijah Rowlett checking in as well linebacker first and 10 puts the man in motion here's the quarterback draw again for Capel coming off the outside follows this block stays on his feet gets pushed far to the 40 yard line and gain the five give Grissom credit they could easily fold the tens right now and they're pushing forward and playing hard Miles Coley checking in I mean I expect him to continue to play hard and to fight I mean look yes you're down quite a bit but you're still playing for pride and playing for your next reps if you give up the coach is going to see that you're not going to get out there for the next game Jaden Martinez just checked in second down and five at the Falcon 40 for the Tigers Lawrence leading 43-0 they lead with the back up the middle and that time Lotz comes in and pulls him from behind and brings him down Elijah Roulette in there as well so it'll bring up third down and one to go Jay Merchant just checked in this Falcon bench and coach give Kenny Marson a lot of credit to getting all the players he can in this game they want to see the action in a varsity game and many of them have not got to do that maybe and they're getting a lot of chances tonight still halfway through the fourth quarter the back will go to the left that'll be Barnes Barnes is going to get it coming back right and he's hit brought down again right at the line of scrimmage and Roulette again making a play but it's going to be enough for getting a first down to the 34-yard line new players coming in still rolling in again with Gerald Copeland coming in Quintamian Williams as well sophomore and Josh Brown back in the game as well you know Kevin these guys practice all hard each week and they give the varsity starters reps and giving them a good look with all the scout team stuff I'm glad they're able to get in and get some practice for their own self I'll say something too after Jaden Allred comes into the game he replaces Carter Graves who came out and the only coach that went over there he knows what it's taking for him to get back to play tonight and Kenny Marson gave him a big hug and pat on the head going to run the quarterback keeper off the left side got a block got a little speed but there's Allred making a play after a gain of one Allred stretched him out fought off the block and that's what you want to see these guys learn how to fight off the blocks and make plays he also had Jay Merchant come off the side there off one of his blocks as well and so these Falcons are definitely getting some reps and getting after it they're really competing hard and when you get these varsity reps they're certainly special and you want more of those reps you get pretty hungry so you're going to try and show your coaches that you're willing to give it 100% each and every down five and a half minutes to go Tigers have second down about 10 to go they get the snap but leave it with their back on the inside got a little running room and breaks the tackle of the 25 to the 20 knocked down at the 18 yard line or they would have scored it was all red making the touchdown saving tackle so the Tigers get the first down and they want to break the scoring drought here that was to their tailback Kenyon Johnson the senior who comes in to play tailback for a few plays they'll go back to Tremano for the next set next week Grissom will go back on the road at Spartan and then they'll finish out against Austin so they have pretty tough road down the stretch there looking to run the quarterback up the middle and he's hit at the line of scrimmage bounced off and brought down but he'll gain two to the 16 Jeffrey Jones this Falcon defense they're fighting hard out there yeah they are fighting hard you know like you said earlier they want to preserve that shutout that's a big deal so we'll see it's going to be tough they've got a little bit of momentum they're driving pretty hard right now Lots and Merchant are your linebackers in the middle on the outside you have Josh Brown on the far side on this second down seven play and the Tigers move early the Tiger by the tail that time that's what happened he reached back the look and he wasn't moving so that'll be a five yard penalty you know Mike we talk about in a game like this it's great Falcons winning it's hard to maybe announce a game like this it's different it's hard to officiate a game like this too and it's sometimes hard to coach a game like this but at the same time I'm impressed by the coaching and the officiating and what they've done tonight in this game that kept the rhythm going right you know being able to rotate a bunch of different players in and making sure that your guys are getting the reps that they earned through practice is certainly important pass across the middle almost intercepted by all red but it went off its hands they were trying to hit Johnson on the slant they had not thrown a pass this whole drive and they tried it right there and it brings up third down and 13 to go but getting these reps on film for these players is super important as well being able to go back to the film room and break down what you saw versus what really happened on the field and have those teachings and learning it's not just tonight that it's important to be coaching these guys are going to be coached throughout the week Capel the quarterback straight up the middle running trying to get away he's not going to getaway and he's slammed down there by a couple of Falcons including Jay Merchant right on the play and it brings up fourth down and 10 and the Falcons trying to preserve that shutout Jay Merchant has come up through this opportunity and he's made a couple tackles along the way he's done a really good job along the edge there could be a big stop by the Falcons right here this is what I call a cookie stop you win this one shutout I think defense started to get cookies it's number one back in the game JJ Carter Grades for them so fourth down and 10 to go four wide outs looking to pass step back throwing deep down the middle has a man out there and he overthrows everybody incomplete and the Falcon defense holds and the Falcon defense preserves the shutout with 2.36 to go and boy it's been a while since we had a shutout this season hadn't had one in a couple of ways this would be great for Florence's defense and their confidence yes absolutely you know just being able to come out here and you know kind of dominate on both sides of the ball which we haven't been able to do this year just super huge super good with the confidence being able to roll you know making it making it three in a row you know especially against you know you got coming off of Bob Jones and James Clements and now another another area win just just super huge we'll remind you of those games played in region tomorrow night too there's some big ones that could affect the Falcons big time Mahan's going to leave with his back off the right side running around to the right to the 20 to the 25 and getting about eight yards for you got well he got welcome to high school football right there was Marquise Andrews he said man I'm running this is great I've got five I've got seven I've got eight and he went oh I got hit that happens sometimes John Drew Hill just checked in and let the clock run at 212 by the way tomorrow night Bob Jones I believe will take on say tomorrow night Alston at Alston so they're on the road to Decatur and then the other big game tomorrow night Spartman I believe has James Clemens coming to their place again going to leave with the back coming to the left side good run room 30 35 to the 40 and finally chopped down there and good run hard run right there again the senior showing he wants to run the ball a little bit Andrews let him have some fun we're under two minutes to go that clock will run and Kenny Marston's going to be happy tonight I believe the way this team's played Mike yeah started off a little sluggish that first quarter but once the Falcons settled in they were able to kind of impose their will on this Grissom team they did a great job by the way Spartans at James Clemens and into the game Justin Kirkman the freshman he's going to get the snap and give it off to his tailback Andrews this time Andrews is hit at the 42 so Kirkman gets a snap or two at quarterback with a minute 10 to go I like seeing him in there another freshman quarterback he's going to play some quarterback he's going to play I'm telling that kid's got talent all over him and I like just getting him in the game there and getting the snap Kirkman will go back out they're going to just call the play from the sideline Kirkman doesn't have the signal he's going to get him audibly man we're going to have to get that helmet fixed where he can just have him called in his play let him run the ball one time pull that thing and run it there we go at the 42 he was three yards our right receiver unfortunately Kevin was open he was offside he was open he was linebacker depth he was open I mean y'all just give him a hard time he was open bless his heart he's like man let's make this thing happen well Kevin he got the hint that he was offside so he backed up about three steps and he kept and he still was way offside I think what gave it away was that he was still on the opposite side of the referee that usually is a sign yeah it was third fair enough there'll be one more play we're under a minute to go 23 on the clock 22 they'll run one more play Kirkman the quarterback the freshman good to see him in the game tonight high snap he'll have to go back and get it he gives it off to Andrews he'll come back to the left and tackle on that one in the backfield what an athletic play there that snap was way over his head to be able to tap that ball back and get it down that was not an easy play future's bright that was tough future's bright final score Brawley Stadium Florence wins it 43 to 0 over Grissom this is Falcon football we're back in two minutes Carbine Construction is honored to be a part of building projects with the Florence City School System we're also glad to cheer on the Falcons as they celebrate the cheerleaders are firing up the crowd the drum majors striking up the band and we all stand to the national anthem this is congressman Robert Adderholt while you cheer your favorite team this season I'll be on President Trump's team shaking things up in Washington when we stand on conservative principles it's a win for everyone I'm Robert Adderholt and I approve this message paid for by Adderholt for Congress back at Brawley Stadium where Florence wins it 43-0 let's go down to our sideline reporter Jeffrey Jones as the head coach Kenny Marson this interview is not going to be so hard this week how about your performance tonight just I'm smiling ear to ear because I saw a bunch of guys smiling we got every kid in the program in the ball game tonight all 84 of them and it was one of those nights that those guys that have put so much in the scout team force and get beat up on all the time to be able to give them an opportunity to get out there on the field whether it was one play or four plays it was good to get everybody in the game yeah it's great great to see some of these younger guys the future actually looks pretty bright yeah well these young guys love this game and I tell you what they're following a group of seniors that were bought in from day one and the leadership that they put out there these young guys can't help but do right I mean they're following a great group right now and we're just going to hopefully keep it rolling some highlights strategically we noticed in the booth up there that you've got some people touching the ball you kind of strategically gave them some touchdowns some guys that hadn't had touchdowns before you got a couple firsts tonight too yes definitely got Marquise Andrews we love Marquise and he was with us before I transferred to Deshler and we got him back and senior that is poured his guts into it started at D-line then went to H-back and then put him at running back this week was opportunity to get him a touchdown and then got Shep LaShawn Shepard a touch he's not been in the passing game a whole lot and he's been pass blocking and been blocking his tail off and he got an opportunity for a touchdown that's the kind of stuff that excites us I'd say they earned it tonight they earned that opportunity speaking of earning it next week we're going to have to earn it too we've got a tough Huntsville team on the road tell us a little about that one I know you don't like to look ahead too much but that's our next one on the road we're going to enjoy this one our rules 24 hours we're going to enjoy it for 24 hours we're going to go to work on Huntsville and they're a really good football team they're coming on at the right time kind of like we are where both of us are hitting our stride right now and it's going to be one heck of a football game next week well congratulations to the win now as far as look at your boys they're all having a great time on this field isn't that great to see it is awesome to see I'm going to let them enjoy it again we're going to enjoy it for 24 hours we're going to watch these guys have a really good time we're going to celebrate in the locker room we're going to get ready for all JJ's got one question what about Charlie Graves hitting a 42 yard or how important is it for your kicker to get such a big kick about Charlie Graves hitting a 42 yard or how important was that for his ego or for his awesome for him what a great young man 36 ACT kid perfect score he's got a trip in the morning to Stanford which is pretty impressive and so he's getting on a plane in the morning that's going to be a great trip for him and you know missed two missed two PAT's came off the field I said was that the holder he said no I'm in my head I said well get out of your head and he did and kicked that field goal we've been waiting for an opportunity for that for him and you saw how the guys love him and celebrated with him we had to drag him off the field they about piled up on him out there so it was good stuff go enjoy it with your team coach thank you the head coach Kenny Morrison that was a good interview and congratulations to the Falcons tonight they win it by a score of 43 to 0 let's take a one minute timeout you're listening to the TNT fireworks postgame show we're back in one minute and until 930 on Friday and Saturday Hugo's is our new favorite spot Hugo's flying home tonight with their feathers flopping I tell you what they have done a good job they lead at 43-0 and win at 43-0 and it's been a lot of fun for everybody here at Brawley Stadium tonight I think the biggest thing tonight for this Falcons team is they came out and did what they were supposed to do Mike Calverson right being able to come out and take care of business how many games have we seen that should take care of business and they just float through it and sleepwalk through a game the Falcons really just took care of business really couldn't get the running game going but the passing game was on point tonight Cade Davis did a great job distributing the ball then Costa Mahan came in and distributed the ball some more and you know just being able to pass the ball around like we did is definitely a weapon and going to be used in the future but the defense held serve as well by pitching a shutout so and with the 42 yard field goal and the kick coverage I mean we just did a great job on all three phases of the game tonight Falcons win it 43-0 our stats brought to us by our good friends at Chick-fil-A they're still looking there right in front of the Florida Small for the next another 45 minutes go by and have a nice post game meal send it over to my good friend John McDaniel to give us the stats well thank you Kevin Johnson the Grissom Tigers will start with the visiting team tonight they had 176 yards of offense for the game they had 28 yards rushing on 28 carries passing 94 yards through the air 9 completions on 17 attempts 8 first downs in the game they were 3 for 10 on third down conversion and 0 for 3 on fourth down conversion 7 penalties for 42 yards in the game 1 turnover no PATs of course in the time of possession 24 minutes and 51 seconds Falcons on offense tonight 345 yards of offense I believe that may be a season high correct 114 yards rushing on 24 carries 18 18 completions on 21 attempts for 231 yards 21st downs tonight 3 for 6 on third down conversion 1 for 104th down conversion 6 penalties for 30 yards no turnovers 4 for 6 on our PATs time of possession was 22 minutes 53 seconds Kay Davis he was 16 for 18 for 221 and 3 touchdowns wow some of our leading receivers Jimmy McDonald he had 5 catches for 87 yards and a touch Savante Green he had 3 catches for 34 yards and a touch and Jackson Mays he had 2 catches 20 yards and a touchdown also want to mention LaShawn Shepard he had his 1 catch and 1 touchdown and Kavante Green also had a good play there for a touchdown as well we'll make sure of that Falcons get on the scoreboard early when Kay Davis took the opening drive for the Falcons down and found an open receiver there and hit him for a quick 11-yard score that was Jackson Mays 725 to go 7-0 and the Falcons never took the foot off the gas mid-second quarter Falcons drive it down that time it was a 57-yard drive nine plays and the touchdown came when Zo Martin ran it in the linebacker coming in with a couple other defenders and the eye set he goes diving in from two yards out 13-0 430 to go then it was Davis late in the first half finding Jimmy McDonald hits him on the end zone pass there not 25 yards away on the fade pattern 138 to go 19-0 at the half and then the Falcons really opened it up in the second half and it started with Marquise Andrews going in from one yard out PAT was good from Graves 26-0 then Davis to Green that's Kevante Green 33-0 the PAT that time by Graves as well then it was Mahan coming in the freshman rolls to his right his first seven-yard touchdown pass as a varsity player goes to LaShawn Shepard that it makes it 40-0 after Green Hall with the PAT and then Charlie Graves ignited the crowd with a very simple 42-yard field goal but his longest of his career and the Falcons win it 43-0 here on a Thursday night and the Falcons celebrate to go to 4-3 on the season and 4-1 in region play and they'll wait to see how the other games will play by the way I want to give a shout out to one player from Grissom during all the post game everyone was shaking hands and everybody's going back to their respective ways and everybody from Florence celebrating Grissom's getting together and number four Will Bush came all the way back down to the 30-yard line during the interview with Coach Morrison to shake his hand and he went by and shook every coach's hand on the way back from Florence classed that by the singer there Will Bush I was very impressed by that as well JJ I think you saw that I was standing I was standing next to the coach when he did it he was very jovial and I had a conversation with him before the game very outgoing young man very just very friendly and he did he came around and congratulated us and the coaches were like wow great kid there and we wished him luck on the rest of his season and told him to travel home safe tonight very good sportsmanship by that young man let's get our final thoughts on the TNT fireworks post game show where Florence was at 43-0 I'll start with Mike Albertson you know tonight Falcons took care of business they came out they did what they needed to do got a lot of guys a lot of reps these games are super important as you know you're building a program you're building it around you know not only your ones but when your twos and threes are able to get as many reps as they did tonight at the varsity level it's super huge you know the Falcons have a test coming up this week I think they found a few things that they really liked and you know coming up against a tough Huntsville team you know while the future is bright you know next week we're going to see what we're made of and so it's been a great game go Falcons John McDaniel John McDaniel your thoughts on tonight's big matchup yeah not a lot not a lot to add but you know terrific job by the Falcons of kind of coming out in the second half really and playing a lot better played with a lot of motion a lot of flying around and so I thought they did a great job all three phases tonight and kind of going to decide their seed maybe next week and where they when we go to the playoffs so good week of practice get an extra day of rest and we'll see how the Falcons wind up good point about the extra day of rest too that's two Thursday nights in a row and two Thursday wins JJ what did you think about tonight fun night of football saw a lot of players play I love that I love seeing some of these players that don't score touchdown score touchdown because you're right they're going to remember this the rest of their lives that night when LaShawn Shepard scored a touchdown against Grissom he's going to remember it now hopefully that won't be the last one he scores but you know it was the opportunity of a lifetime for that young man Zoe Martin great job on those guys they will remember these first touchdowns they've ever made forever shout out to the Florence band they showed up did a great job and we had a really good crowd for Thursday night for fall break we had a great crowd and I also want to you know you guys are my brothers I really appreciate y'all extending a welcome to Stella in the halftime interview and to Caroline it was very admirable of y'all right when she gets done with her interview Mike hands her $10 gift card to Chick-fil-A it might have been a $50 gift card I'm not sure but it's much appreciated y'all letting us do that well I'll just let you know that your job is in jeopardy we'll say it that way as took control of it and did what they were supposed to do probably my tip of the hat tonight was to Kenny Morrison and his staff I thought they did an excellent job of getting all the players in and getting a lot of players touches and everybody come out healthy and now they've got a big stretch run starting off on the road at Huntsville next week and big games tomorrow night keep an eye on these Spartan will go on the road to James Clemens and Bob Jones goes on the road to Austin you know depending on those tomorrow night say if Bob Jones and James Clemens were both the win then Florence would be in first place alone in class 7A region 4 so that's where we'll sit after tomorrow night we'll keep an eye on all those games and don't forget our next broadcast next Friday night Milton Frank Stadium Florence and Huntsville well big night on a Thursday night there's a lot of sports going on around the nation we'll be sending you to a baseball game I believe after this one as well for our station manager Greg Thornton for James Moody and the 93 9th of the
